Actually it's a good thing that our creadits can shift to other ships and allows us to even melt a bad purchase. It's what pushed me to spend so much, but things are changing: more and more ships launched are Warbond only, with a discount and not available as Warbobds on CCU. Also CIG keeps adjusting price to destroy our options to CCU without spending much, which defeats the whole process. Lately these price fixes are not even announced anymore, leaving players stranded. It is a bad strategy because a cheap CCU warbond is more fresh money that no warbond at all.
@Leptospirosi of course, being able to melt ships and buy other ships with store credits is good. Being able to CCU up to another ship and save money is good. The point of this video is: CIG knows this, CCUs are not a mistake, CIG gamified spending money and CIG increased prices of ships without announcing it, thus disrupting CCU chains.
My first ship was the Redeemer when it was first introduced … thought the video at the Citcon and naively thought that while it was in concept it that time it would be finished soon when they already show it a video. Yes i know, later I learned that CIG loved the mix of in-game and rendered content. Later I fell in love with the Carrack. Thought Deep space exploration would be a great thing … was a little bit suspicious because 100 star systems do not really offer deep space travels but anyway. Yeah, I for sure was exited to learn that deep space exploration would mean to travel to 5 systems … Thank you CIG.
seriously, you cant. i've had 3 of my posts deleted and gotten 2 temp bans for calling them out on their greedy practices while STILL not fixing bugs that have persisted for years. they keep demanding money from us yet openly refuse to aid us in any way that isnt financially beneficial to them.
Worth to mention that they patent lawyer has his office in Pennsylvania Avenue not far away from White House. For sure a cheap address and for sure a patent attorney who offers his services for reasonable costs …/s
Well, CCU game is the most developed gameplay loop they have. No wonder everyone plays it (aside from that chaining discounts makes the extremly ridiculous ship prices less ridiculous). Maybe they should put more effort into the game, so people actually want to play it and earn their ships there.
It's a great mental game for CIG. List a ship for $750, play the CCU game and get it for "only" $370 and up the value of the ship at launch to $975..... Look at how much money you saved!! When actually at the end of the day CIG still got $370 more for adding a promised feature to the same game 😂.
This 100%. People keep talking about how much money they saved. It is only "new" money that gets you those discounts. So you got the ship for 370, I melted other things and got it for 0 new money spent.
It’s not really about how much money you saved but about how much money you can actually earn. People can simply sell that ship now a bit under todays official price and make significant money in return. I suspect a very big chunk of SC sales is from non player people building these ccu chains and making money off of SC. That and money launderers. Either way not actual players.
they could easily 10x their profits again by actually selling what players want, at a price players want it at. trying to maximize your profits tends to backfire once people catch onto what you're doing, which the players have and which is why their profits have been suffering for the last 2 years.
Well, I started stacking discounted CCU's since before I ever heard of anyone doing it. and while it has "saved" me hundreds of dollars. I'm still sitting on a couple thousand dollars worth of CCUs. Meanwhile it costs CIG NOTHING. so they are just raking in cash. SO WHAT if they end up selling a polaris for $300 total cash in to a person who would have never bought it at $800. that is $300 more than they otherwise would have had. and I get almost as much enjoyment out of strategically crowing my fleet on the cheep as I do playing the game.
It sure has been a game within a game. Between it (the CCU system) and the SC Grey Market, My main account fleet is worth a little over $14k of RSI. My total spent out of pocket over the past 10 years is less than $4k. Still a silly amount of real money spent on a game.
Well this is the real game... No AI crew, no repair at Polaris Hangar, no vertex colors, lose good game developers that don't see their progression in the field, Wonder if backlog must be part of all this Jazz.
I'm not playing the CCU game, but I think I have a general understanding of how it works. So my question is, how CIG can break those CCU chains? If you want to do 5 upgrades in a row - you just do it. If they changed the price - you just do different upgrades. Do you like make 2 out of 5 and then wait for a year to do remaining 3? And then complain that your CCU chain was broken by a price increase? Why?
I think all people spending on SC are adults, take charge of your own doings, dont buy if you dont want or cant, you surely dont NEED any of those expensive assets. A gamepackage is all one should buy to play it. I dont get is people complaining prices and still spending it..... And i get, im angry too, pay for somethings that are never delivered or never work as intended, that is REALLY BAD!
well u guys deserve to be stripe of each and every money u have give it all to Chris , a documentary will be made on this how so many idiots pay so much for jpeg and how CIG manage to f 1 billion $ in 12 years and has 20 FPS tech demo with no game play. Wait, no. What he was saying is that players have gamified the economy system not CIG. Specifically players have realised that they can take advantage of the (badly thought out) system CIG uses for raising money with backed ships. Everyone getting upset isn't listening to what he said. He literally said "we didn't want people to feel like they're not getting anything" when backing a ship that's not developed yet (which why people kept giving them money for over a decade when they fail to deliver, I'll never understand. I'm no CIG defender, original backer and quite unhappy with how development has gone, how they spent the money they raised and how they raised it) This outrage is misplaced, you're misunderstanding what he said. Someone mark this in the history books, I defended CIG this day. First and last time.
@johnk3366 Carl Jones/CIG know how their CCU system works. CIG made it, not the players. CIG is adjusting it all the time, see the recent, unannounced, price increases of certain ships. Don't make it look like CIG's CCU is the victim of "clever players". CIG knows they can milk players who want to buy a new ship but don't want to pay the full price = extra money for CIG.
@@Camural Sure CIG's whole pay me for a ship that we may or may not get around to putting in the game (we haven't built yet) some time in the next decade system is terrible, but that's not what he's saying here. I don't doubt that CIG is in full blown "optimise revenue from late game players" mode you'd expect from a F2P dev without even a finished game, but you can't hold this up as evidence of that sadly.
