    you dont need to use the yellow top off tank ,just fill the reservoir with new antifreeze turn the heat on inside the car start the car up and then loosen the bleeder screw on top of the new thermostat till it quits bubbling air out then tighten the screw and then repeat this 3-4 times over the next 5 minutes then you are done getting the air out of your system

    Great video. Followed this exactly on my wife's 2013 Journey. Thank you!

    Thanks for the video. I'd recommend getting a small folding table to set removed parts on rather than setting them somewhere inside of the engine bay or in a pile of leaves on the cowl. Makes it easier to find the parts after getting distracted and less chance of dropping one somewhere in the engine bay that you have to then go find.

    It doesn’t matter if its torqued to spec or cross threaded, tight is tight! 😅

    If you don’t have the bleed system here, you can also bleed the system by opening the thermo valve until the bubbling stops.

    I’ve seen other video take off the thermostat first then the clamp and hose and it leaked out a lot less!

    • @jstnnn1
      @jstnnn1 Рік тому

      I think it depends on the position the thermostat is stuck in. If it’s closed it shouldn’t leak much. More so if it’s opened is where you get the mess because it’s not stopping coolants like it should.

    Need to replace thermostat on my moms 2017. It seems to be stuck open so the engine or coolant isn’t getting that hot.

    Always fill the coolant tank to the line, not like he did. Tank needs room for the coolant to expand. Filling it all the way like he did wont allow it to expand and could possibly blow.

    $310 quote and now I’m determined to do it myself after 5 videos you’re so far the best the only difference is the end where you use the yellow funnel. I’m seeing people fill coolant then run the engine and use a screwdriver to tighten and loosen. Thoughts?

    • @jstnnn1
      @jstnnn1 Рік тому +1

      If you have the money I guess you could use what he had but the cheapest and easiest way would to just open the thermostat valve running w heat on hi to let air out.

    Make sure the old gasket is not stuck on or you will break the new plastic thermostat housing.Posting for a friend.

    How much does it usually cost to get something like this mixed. I have a 2014 Dodge Journey and I went to autozone and the code read the P0128 was wondering the price so I could get it done

      The part from Advanced Auto is about $15. I took my Journey to the dealership to get a quote and it was $368 for them to do it. After that qoute, I did the job myself and it took about 15 minutes.
