- Jack Webb created both #Adam12 and #Emergency! with the intention of accurately shining a light on emergency services. He worked closely with the LAPD and LAFD when producing both shows, which have gone down in history as some of the most accurate portrayals of first responders in TV history. 📺🚨
Watch the premiere of #Adam12 on FETV Monday, April 3rd at 6p & 11p ET!
Adam 12 is still my favorite police show
That's so funny...that first clip. Martin Milner was obviously instructed to deliver his lines to Kent McCord in Jack Webb Dragnet style!
😂I agree!
It did resemble a Sargent Friday speech.
Is it just me but Kent McCord resembles Tom Brady?
More like delivered w/a sharp stick up his jaxy but can't admit that fact... Reed should have replied, "Yes sir, but remember to breathe at least once during the tour..."
@@Jah_Rastafari_ORIGor "get the cigarette lighter fixed" like on The Blues Brothers
Adam-12 was one of my brother Larry and I’s favorite shows. R.I.P. brother.
Adam 12 was the reason alot of guys my age became cops. I did not work for LAPD, but I did go out on my department as 1Adam12 quite a few times. Retired now. No regrets.
I didn't, no regrets either.
Thank you for your service
@@garyv2196 I agree. Its not everyones calling. I have three sons and only one of them went into Law Enforcement. I didnt push it on any of them. Not an easy life.
What does the 12 mean
@@danielhill3665 on my dept it was the numeral designator for the area of the city I was assigned to patrol and be the main responder in. 1 meant daywatch. Solo I was 112. With a partner officer we were 1A12. When out of the car on foot I again became 112 and the other officer was called the Adam unit. I hope this made some sense.
Wow....two great shows growing up in early (1970's).....then ....we were bombarded with Detective shows thruout the rest of the decade....!
Sisters they were.
Good way to end the clip with Randy Mantooth playing a tough ranch hand.
jack webb was the man! I could not imagine being a uniform police officer in L.A. back in the 1960's and 1970's.
Bring back this series.its the real way to implement law and order
jack webb was the man!
This is not just any lunch. It's a double quarter-pounder with extra sodium, a large fries with extra salt, and a large soft drink that's capable of quenching any thirst.
Adam 12 also crossed over with Dragnet.
Kent McCord appeared several times on Dragnet 1967 and Dragnet 1968. he even appeared as Officer Jim Reed during the 1967-68 season.
Malloy putting the moves on Dixie... you can smell the cigarettes on her breath through the screen...
I would have enjoyed seeing an Adam-12, Emergency and Columbo crossover.
I have caught most of these crossovers and many cameo appearances of bit-part actors from other shows. This is similar to how so many other actors got their start by doing small characters on shows like The Twighlight Zone and The Outer Limits in years prior. By the time Jack Web got to Emergency, almost every episode had a cameo by a familiar face... including Larry Storch, Bobby Sherman, and even John Travolta.
This show is why both of my uncle's became police officers, after watching it in the seventies they both joined after graduation from high school in the early eighties
Adam-12 meets "Emergency" John Gage (Randolph Mantooth) 2:03
“One Adam-12, One Adam-12, a 211 in progress. One Adam-12 handle Code 3.”
You forgot… “1-Adam-12, a 415 Fight …with chains and knives; 1-Adam-12 handle code-3.”
What’s crazy is while all these except for the last one imply that Adam 12 and Emergency are in the same universe, in a Season 1 episode of Emergency, Gage is frustrated because he missed an episode of Adam 12 due to a call 🤣
Back when you had to pray the local NBC affiliate would rerun the show again.
Of course. In a tone that says;”Listen up probie!”
Now, find the episode of Emergency about them missing an episode of Adam-12 because they were out on a call. I have no idea how many walls were broken with that LOL.
Yes the season one episode titled "Hang Up", which definitely contradicted the crossover episode idea that the two shows were part of the same "world"
@@realfetv Even better, fireman Marco also played a policeman in the episode they were watching.
@@HariSeldon913 🤯🤯
The regular writers must have been on vacation that week. 🤣
@@HariSeldon913 Nice catch! I didn't know that.
Still watch Adam 12 on MeTV in the late afternoon.
Best cop show ever
0:50 Julie London. Oooooooohhh...! She was married to Bobby Troup, her co-star, back then. I have an unplayed still-in-the-sleeve-and-jacket Bobby Troup 10" album "Songs of Bobby Troup" that was a radio station DJ sample. Pressed 70 years ago and a needle has never touched it. Only been out of the inner plastic sleeve once ever, and then just for a moment to see that it was pristine.
Julie London was once married to Jack Webb, who starred on dragnet and also produced the show. He also produced adam-12 and emergency! Ms. Harper Stacey.
@@harperstacey9604 Coincidentally, my father worked with Jack Webb back when he and my mother were in television.
@@adamchurvis1 was your father , an actor? Ms. Harper Stacey.
Jack Webb was famous for using the same actors in all of his productions in diffrent roles.
For example Kent McCord was in at least 2 Dragnets. Bobby Troup was in a Dragnet. William Boyett aka Sgt Macdonald was in at least 6 Dragnets. Burt Mustin in at least 3 Dragnets. Vic Perin in at least 3 Dragnets.
Peggy Webber was in at least 8 Dragnets , and Virginia Gregg was in 13 Dragnet episodes
All the actors played diffrent roles.
If Webb liked someone they were coming back.
And, don't forget casting his ex-wife Julie London along with her 2nd husband (and friend of Webb's) Bobby Troup in Emergency.
to add: Bobby Troop appeared in a season 4 Adam-12 (The Princess and the Pig) , Burt Mustin appeared in multiple Dragnet, and Tim Donnelly appeared in several Dragnet shows (the two best known ones was the Drowned baby and Night School (one of Friday classmates))
Great vintage TV show!!
Martin Milner passed away in 2015 at the age of 84
Kent McCord is 80 years old
Randy Mantooth is 77 years old
Best show ever!!! It’s why I became a cop for 34 year… buy I chose the “tan and green” side of LA.
Plenty of Dragnet and Emergency! crossovers, available too
I was waiting for Reed to say it needs a cigarette lighter
7 SECONDS 0-60 ......good thing no hellcats back then
No but pretty sure a 68 gto would smoke it pretty efficiently
@@bobmorrison5636 ... GTO was a lighter car but the police package had it in the handling department with huge sway bars up front and sometimes in the rear as well. Oh, don't forget the bigger brakes on the PD package. BTW, nothing is faster than a two-way radio.
@@rupe53 it's like gangbangers with Uzis versus cops with Glocks. The gangbangers theoretically have more firepower but the cops are much more proficient with their weapons. The cop cars didn't have to be fastest outright, just fast enough. And then of course you have motorcycles.
@@msquaretheoriginal like anything else... if they make a specific tool for the job, it will probably be better at what it was made for.... and hold up longer over time.
Typical Jack Webb dialogue
Yup.
Ooooh top end of 120 mph
Season one episode 10 of Emergency entitled Hang Up magically introduced Reed and Malloy on a TV series called Adam 12
The fire chief from Emergency was also a police sergeant on Adam 12
A time when cops had and showed respect to people unlike today.
My 18 yr old son walked in while i was watching 1 adam 12 and thought reed was tom brady.
I think Adam-12 and Emergency were more human than Dragnet which always seemed robotic.
Bobby Troupe was in a lot of Dragnet episodes. Bobby and Jack both married Dixie McCall in real life but at different times
Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med...Unit 51, Adam 12 and Emergency Rampar..😁😬
I love this TV show it was the best TV show that I have every seen I get to watch my favoite TV show and both of them cops are the best I love watching them I will watch them 24 hours a day thanks
The big thing I was told in police work, don't go looking for trouble, it will find you.
It's got a 440 cubic inch plant cop suspension, cop shocks, made before catilatic converters so it will run good on regular gas. Is it the new blues mobile,or what?
fix the lighter.
Dan Aykroyd is a big fan of Dragnet and Jack Webb, so yes, it's likely he was inspired by the Adam-12 pilot for Elwood's description.
And make sure it has a full tank of gas.
Lol!
just so ya know... police package cars ran on high-test gas back in the day. LEADED high-test gas.
The cast of Emergency also appeared on one episode of Adam-12.
Lic3d both of these shows ❤❤❤❤
I also thought it was a police car.
Ooh! 0-60 in 7 seconds
Those cars were seriously heavy with all of the extra cop stuff mounted in them. Much lighter now.
Kent Mccord was also on Dragnet
A few times.Once as Officer Jim Reed.
And enter Randolph Mantooth..
Always thought Mc Cord was pretty cute
When Kent McCord was young, he looked a lot like Tom Brady. Ms. Harper Stacey.
Hmm … I wonder if Jack Webb wrote this dialogue??😂😂😂
Yes indeed.
How can they explain one episode when Johnny was in the hospital and he wanted to see a episode of Adam 12 and they did a crossover in one
0:05 to 1:00 ... and NO computer aided dispatch (C.A.D.) system.
Martin and Kent could easily have been real police officers, they had the looks and manner
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Kent McCord play a police officer on Dragnet but with a different name than Reed?
I might be experiencing a Mandela effect.
You did. Thanks to MYTV i seen that one. He was a rookie undercover officer and was accused of something.
@@timmyers1006 I also remember seeing cast members of Emergency! on Dragnet also.
He also played a desk clerk in the 1968 pilot/movie.
Worlds collide!
adam will be fixing grain/blur and upgrading to hd 1440p to be specific
I got mine to do 160..
That's funny a crossover adam 12 and emergency. Adam 12 in a Los Angeles police unit they patrol the city. Emergency is a Los Angeles County fire department unit they service the coun6 one would not be with the other completely different deperyments.
today it's known as a #shop #TheRookie
👮 👮
They're all dead now. All my childhood heroes and rock stars are dropping like flies.
We're all getting older.
I'm pretty sure Kent McCord (Officer Jim Reed) and both Randolph Mantooth and Kevin Tighe ( Emergency!) are still alive.
Everyone has seen Julie London's semi nude record covers. Pretty hot stuff from the 1950's.
preview on my page of the cleaned up adam will be upgraded to hd to
It was a good program, but it was a little unrealistic
Why was Maloy so angry? 😡
Reed ?
Don't believe one single word that dead man said .
This is an electric vehicle - EV now run away and don't park in a garage 🤠♥️👍
Miller knew more about that stupid, broken down police car than he did about nurse Dixie explains why he was always single. He left out the most important part describing the police car. How the hell do you get that stinking fart smell off the seat.👮♂️🤦🏻♂️👩🏿🍳💩
Play your cards straight and there might be a plate of spaghetti in your future babe!
Boredom 12. Horrible show. So fake it was ridiculous.
Fake? Look up the background of this show and how it was produced before you call it fake. It's one of the most authentic police series ever made. Boring is a matter of opinion. I hadn't seen it in decades and am loving seeing the full episodes again.

Well Dix, "what do you hear from the good doctor?" He's not a good doctor anymore.
"You know what this is?" Big deal, it's just a fucking cop car!
You missed the point. It's a tool of the trade. Take care of it and it will do what you need when you need it. It's also your office for 8 hours a day... and it doesn't come with maid service. Keep it tidy!
