By popular demand, here's an extended edition of this video featuring the additional crossovers with Emergency! drive.google.com/file/d/1qNdysNfwvMa9OnA8bogjOxaLhUDnLI_x/view?usp=share_link
One episode of Emergency! had Malloy and Reed as real cops talking to Dixie at Rampart. Another had Gage trying to find out what happened on the last episode of Adam-12
These shows were beyond amazing. Jack Webb knew what he was doing, and thats what makes these shows stand out above others. We don't get this quality of acting anymore and it's sad.
When Jack Webb created Adam-12 he had access to LAPD files and used those as the basis for episodes.
@@williamjones4483 he also used an actual dispatch worker for Adam 12. The woman on the radio actually worked for the LAPD when he worked on Adam 12.
Like I said he knew what he was doing to give us some amazing shows.
Adam-12, SWAT, Emergency!, The Rookies and Dragnet, best shows of their time!
Providing you are willing to forget the racist history behind all the departments.
Ironside better than them all!
Emergency was lame, compared to the others.
There was an episode of Adam 12 the other nite where Randolph Mantooth played a ranch hand.
Adam 12 was great. Recently started watching all of them again. Love it…
Between July 2018 and January 2020, I hiked across the USA from Florida to Santa Monica, California. I didn't hitchhike, I walked. It took 18 months.
In January, before all of the pandemic stuff unfolded, I was having coffee in a Starbuck's in Los Angeles. I had the pleasure of sitting next to two Los Angeles police officers. We chatted about a lot of things, the homeless problem, etc.
In the course of talking to them I mentioned Adam-12. I was 60 years old, they appeared to be around 30.
They didn't know what Adam-12 was, never heard of it!!!!
I was terribly amused at this.
I had my laptop open so I pulled up some clips.
These two guys were laughing so loud it drew looks from all over the shop.
I told them I couldn't believe they didn't make Adam-12 mandatory viewing when they joined.
Life is so funny.
In "Personnel: The Shooting" clip, the first officer(Stevens) brought in on a stretcher is Marco Lopez. Yes, the same Marco Lopez from Emergency! He played several roles in various Dragnet episodes and was also a stand in for Jack Webb. He also went by the name Marco Antonio.
Did not notice that, cool.
A lot of the actors/actresses that worked for Jack Webb were "stock" actors who could be recycled in various roles. For example, the police lieutenant in Emergency! was also cast as another cop, a gym trainer, and a taxi-cab driver.
@@BrianJColby15YT Producers have their go-to actors and actresses. For example Larry Manetti flew a Corsair and a Viper before he managed a club in Hawaii.
I for one was surprised the Major from Operation Petticoat turned up so often on Dragnet.
@@BrianJColby15YT Bobby Troupe also appeared in Dragnet, Adam-12, and Emergency. Julie London was married to Bobby Troupe and was also in an episode of Adam-12. She was also Jack Webb's Ex. They remained friends and that's why there were all the crossovers in these three shows.
Dragnet was the first t.v. show to have Latinos as cops
Adam-12 was a must see every week, the season started in September and went til December, these days you watch a whole season in one weekend - no patience. There was a rhythm to life, shared with everyone else.
Officer Reed was my first crush.
Remember all those shows.
This has to be the best crossover there is.
It amazes me still that a buttoned down guy like Jack Webb was married to a Hotness like Julie London
Remember the Adam-12 spinoff that was to have Frank Sinatra, Jr., as a regular in a state office that sued people for consumer fraud (such as phony cancer-curing electric belts)? I'm glad that didn't go anywhere.
By far my favorites are Adam-12 and Emergency!. I liked Dragnet; but that was before I discovered Adam-12, which deserves to be more famous than Dragnet.
This was one of my favorite shows as a kid. Later in life, I met Martin Milner when I helped him push his broke down car out of an intersection in Fallbrook California. It was back in 1973. I lived there for several years before moving away.
Kent McCord made sevsn appearances on Dragnet, including two as "Officer Reed," during the 1966-'67 and 1967-'68 seasons before Adam 12 began.
Yes! He initially appeared as a different officer prior to Adam-12's development
This is when it get's crazy. In an early episode of Emergency! Malloy and Reed were talking to Dixie at Rampart. Then in another Series Gage was trying to find out what happened on the last episode of Adad-12. Jack Webb had a weird metaverse thing going on.
There's an episode of Dragnet I remember, I think it was called Anatomy of a Pig. It started with an officer graduating from the Academy, through the birth of one of his kids, on up to the day he is killed in the line of duty.
Elegy for a Pig - 3rd season
@@gregh7400 And it's an Adam-12 episode, not Dragnet. Jack Webb does the narration though.
Holey Moley! Col. Potter quit medicine to become a COP?!!!😮. 😅🤓😎✌🏻
Adam-12's "Elegy for a Pig". Jack Webb did the titles intro, Malloy narrated
@@pavelsarneki354 There is an episode of MASH where Potter refers to a "relative" who is a cop in California and tells boring jokes and stories.
All of these characters are all over film noir as well. In fact Jack Webb was in "He Walked by Night" (great movie), a film that became the blueprint for police procedurals, like Adam-12 and Dragnet.
HE WALKED BY NIGHT is a great movie Richard Basehart had an amazing voice.
I miss these shows.
Both shows, Dragnet, and Adam-12, were great! Some people think they're corny, but they should watch them again. There was wisdom in a lot of those shows.
"Steve" Malloy? Guess that was the original plan until they went with Pete. Both top-notch shows.
Where did you get Steve Malloy from? In the scene, he introduces himself as Pete Malloy. Same for the title card that preceded the scene.
I heard " Steve " Malloy as well.
@@danburnette7674 Odd. I guess it is the same phenomenon as when people don't correctly hear the lyrics of a song as it is sung.
I heard Pete.
Pete 100%
Dammit, now I want to watch the rest of those episodes so I know how it turns out.
That's Marco Lopez, later to play himself on "Emergency!"
Adam-12 also visited Emergency!
As a cameo and weirdly, referenced an episode Gage missed the end of because of a call.
I always chocked the television appearance(s) of ADAM-12 in "Emergency!" up to being 'reality TV' - it was like 'COPS' to them. Hense, the ADAM-12 cameo in the "Emergency!" pilot makes perfect sense. Reed and Malloy really are police officers in the extended Draqnet/ADAM-12/Emergency world.
@@smtwo7047 I feel like I owe Jack Webb an apology. Based on true stories? Yeah, that would never happen...then I started watching COPS.
I believe if the de-funders had any idea what police officers do all day, they'd be a bit more understanding.
There’s at least one more when Kent McChord played an undercover cop.
I believe that was before Adam-12
It's not a crossover.
There is another little show that Jack Webb Produced. Project U.F,.O. He was the narrarater.
Great compilation.
compilation of a crap TV show like all Jack Web junk
I find this pretty awkward. Reed and Malloy, especially Reed, were played so naturally, while the Dragnet acting was always like something from a comic-book. They don't mix well.
Actually you're right! Jack Webb's background in radio was showing - where natural acting didn't matter so much because they could only hear your voice
I agree here, the two teams did not mix well at all, the acting styles were totally different.
Thank you!
Thanks Captain , Darn NBC Universal being Stingy . I watched all 3 Shows back then on T.V. , I paid my Dues . Keep up the good work Capt .
I liked both shows Dragnet I liked the very early shows
two of the dumbest shows on TV....
i am a car guy and love these shows from the 70`s .. i am from the 70`s ..
Both quality shows which had a major influence in the decisions of many individuals to desire a career in law enforcement
Martin Milner had a pretty good film career. He was in one of my favorite movies, "Mr. Roberts".
great site i just subscribed and i hit the like button
Word around the campfire is that’s Tom Brady’s daddy 🔥
And Colonel Harry Potter as well
BUFFALO COOKIES!!!!!
Sorry, could not resist lol.
Do the two Emergency, Adam-12 crossovers. They're very interesting and very, very strange.
I tried to but Universal blocked the videos
@@CaptainJZH That's unfortunate.
@@CaptainJZH Could you place it as a separate file on Google Drive? Maybe a link in the description or a pinned comment to this video with an explanation?
That would be an interesting idea
@@TimeTravelinc check the pinned comment!
if you have never seen it look up " copper clapper caper " by jack web and johnny carson ..
Marco Lopez is in one of the crossovers.
You left out "The Shooting Board" when Sgt. Friday nailed a young man at a laundromat trying to wire a vending machine. Sgt. MacDonald was one of those investigators at the laundromat who found the suspect's bullet fired at Friday before he was hit and later died.
Hmm are you sure that was MacDonald or just his actor playing a similar role? I forget
@@CaptainJZH
No, that was William Boyett who was the one that discovered that Sgt. Friday was actually shot at before he fired his firearm and killed the suspect. Whether or not he played Sgt. MacDonald on the episode, I don't know. Since Friday's main reason for entering that 24 hour laundromat was to buy a pack of cigarettes at a vending machine, at the end of the show after the bullet was discovered Boyett gave Friday a carton of cigarettes and told him that this should keep him out of trouble. In the end, The Shooting Board of the L.A.P.D. has ruled Friday's killing to be A Justified Homicide.
He was Lt. Pierce Brooks in that one. Also played Officer Art Green and Ed Lovold in addition to MacDonald.
Also on Emergency often.
The "Carpenter's Pencil Mark" made by the bullet
When California was relatively ‘sane’. LAPD and SFPD are in sore need of platoons Sgt.Friday
Did dragnet ever crossover with emergency?
I don't think so - Adam-12 crossed over with Emergency but Emergency and Dragnet never crossed paths
Friday doesn't play. I wish Ironside could have done a guest spot crossover and gone off on Malloy( who thinks he knows everything). Tell Malloy to shut up and listen and learn.
will be fixing grain/blur and upgrading to hd 1440p to be specific
2:45 Snitch!
Actually, Kent McCord was an officer ON Dragnet. He was so good that the producers carried his character over to a new show called "ADAM 12."
As a fan of both shows that's pretty cool stuff, thanks! I always liked Adam 12 more then Dragnet because it was more violent, like the time Malloy and Reed took down George Floyd.
Clones
There's no such thing as a television "crossover".
