I used to commute my 08 cl9 through the backroads similar to the roads in this video. I seriously drove with out a care of the speed limit and how dangerous it was driving at all times of the day including early hours of the day. Best driving experiences in this car.

I got my first car in 2017, a six generation Accord 1.8 136hp. A glorious car, seriously, but since then, I got into honda world and this 2.4 accord become my dream car, It has all that my old accord lakes, power, a nice modern interior and exterior and a huge modding potential where you can spend money and don't feel like a waste, in the other things are almost identical because 6 generation are an incredible car.
Just a week ago I got a mint condition Cl9 and I am so happy. It's just like you describe

I've had my '03 since '05. Purchased with 67k on clock. Now has 379k. Have replaced ignition coils and clutch apart from battery, oils and normal stuff. I love this car. Clear coat on paint is rapidly failing. Mostly on panels that have been touched up before. Original paint is still pretty good. Not using much oil between changes. No more than a litre in 10,000k. Best car I've ever had. Getting 12.5 k per litre, (35.5mpg) so very happy. Mine is a 6 speed manual.

Cl9 was my first ever car. A lot of panel beats, but as a young kid, i was happy. I was always on fb marketplace and auto parts looking for parts. Swapping out my pre face model for euro side skirts bumper and rear. Added mugen wing too and coilovers. I honestly love the way it looks. It age so well, a 2004 accord still looks so brand new and top tier. My only problem was that the engine was the 160hp variant. I had to let it go because it was boring and slow.
I wanted something light, fun, high revving, and for myself only. I got myself a dc5 type s. I'm looking to add Type R wing, exhaust and sri (cai is too dangerous for this car esp winter season in auckland). Right now im happy with my buy. I'm also sad I cant bring my friends with me. If i ever get bored, I know I can always go back to the accords and not regret the buy.

Let's say you managed to convince me LOL
Bought my first Honda today. A 7th gen accord Type S.
Beautiful looks, best clutch responsiveness and feel I've had so far (I seriously had a big fear it could be bad, considering other regular cars with manual I have driven and this being a sporty one).
Took it the long route to home and almost skid it into a big-ass snow pile trying to make a swift U-turn using full throttle. I live in northern Europe and we had kind of a stormy winter evening so roads are slippery, and you can often have some fun all while staying responsible. But snow tires had none of it this evening and gripped too well.
All because after the very first gas pedal press you understand that this car just invites you to play with it. It instantly responds whether or not you decide to be goofy with it.
Looking forward to do some minor mods to it.
Only problem I've had so far is that it interminnently almost stalls at idle and then revs up again to dodge it from dying. At very consistent intervals, just idling, gear or no gear, nor even clutch doesn't seem to matter.
Considered cleaning or replacing idle control valve, but it's so consistent with timing, I'm not really sure what it could be

    • @KiwiCarLife

Awesome man! Glad you're enjoying it. Honestly I dunno what that issue could be either. Maybe a throttle body relearn?

My brother recently brought a Honda Accord with the K series engine and he loves it.
It's not the Euro R but it still is a beast.
Meanwhile, my next car is going to be a Honda Fit 1.5l VTEC, not just because my brother has a Honda and they make some of the best engines in the world.
But because the Fit is everything I wanted from my last car I owned, the Volkswagen New Beetle that I owned for 6 months.

I've had maany Hondas, and I must say this car is not that Honda-quality anymore what it was at 80-90s (like many other cars), but everything is breaking around 150-200tkm like alternator, steering rack, clutch, timing chain, engine mounts, crank seal, power steering pump etc. My older accords, civics, prelude etc. had these same problems around 300-400tkm. Front suspension/steering rack is kinda weak to begin, and with lowering and bigger alloys you should prepare buying suspension parts regularly no matter OEM or what.
Where winter conditions apply, rust is killing these already fast, specially from rear. If rear arches have rust on top, it's already too late, also rear subframes are rotting away and getting harder to get everyday, many working cars are dismantled because of that.
Top of that you get the softest paint ever that is a nightmare to maintain, moisture in the headlights and sound insulation of a stripped racecar.
If you still want one, and if it doesn't have manual transmission and near perfect service history you shouldn't bother.

    • @Pottunuija
      @Pottunuija 2 роки тому

But I must say that I have my own just basically for same reasons you listed. Mine is also chipped and really like the base engine and also the looks of the car, still looks like a proper car, took mine over CU2. Now the rust is starting to creep and steering rack knocking again, I'm thinking if I should buy something else or put that money on gear ratios and headers and complete new steering rack. Almost every car I've driven kinda left me waiting "something more" for your money but none of them have justified themselves or I just make excuses and can't let go :)

@@KiwiCarLife Lucky you :) also it's not only the rust, radiator ends and power steering hoses leaking and timing chain skipping etc. happens more often at freezing temps, not to mention cold start wear on basically everything.
Older rubber parts (boots, seals, bushing, hose etc) were better quality because they didn't use recycled materials that much at that time, and I'm pretty sure that there is also much stuff like lead in fuel and absbestos in brakes to find more healthier but not always better alternatives.
