Totally Bricked our AMD DX4-100 with a Pirated Copy of WinME I got my Arse chewed over many times. we had to drive from Detroit MI - Nashville TN My uncle had to do some work to recover our HDD and reinstall Win9x New Sub: Still Love ME
I did the same with a pentium system I had. ME did not have the drivers for it and this was pre internet so it was basically useless! Lucky I was able to find a 98 disk at a local boot sale and that fixed it!
I really must assemble my retro fleet, in various stages of currently unloved abandonment... 1. 486DX4 100 VLB, condition: abandoned for ages, checked for battery rot, no serious damage.... this will get DOS / Win3.11 2. IBM PC 330, originally P75 on the "75-100" board, but threw in a P133 and it took it no problem ... Win98, maybe Win95 if there is any reason to, maybe a superfast DOS / Win 3.11 machine. 3. A cluster of moderately powerful machines, an Athlon Thunderbird, an Athlon XP and a Dell P4 with RDRAM - and on my to do pile, a pair of untested AGP cards, a Ti 4200 and a 9800 Pro I like the PC 330, if it can scrabble through what I might like to run in 98, as it's quite compact.. One target is to run "I've got some balls", maybe with the S3 Savage 4 card I still have that ran it so long ago
I have found it very easy to end up with several projects at different levels of completion. Actually making videos on them has helped because now I do tend to push on to get them finished!

I remember back in the days running Win ME on 700MHz Duron and it was no so bad OS. For 486@100MHz with 32MB RAM, Win95 is a good choice.
Win95 is the most sensible choice! :)
