Man this coming out on PS5 the new 1 , but I rather play the vanilla Gothic 1 graphic version, to bad, PSN doesn't have both version on their store . G1 Has more of an authentic look, the new Gothic 1 prettier looking , but looks like every current 2024 AAA game
A lot of people say gothic 2 is better but i disagree. It may be bigger and have more things to do but it lacks the atmosphere of the first game. Prison colony behind magical barier>somewhat generic medieval city and landscapes. Pirates were top tier though 10/10
I think the atmosphere and story is in 1 far better. Gothic 2 has much better programming, level design (except irdorath - sleeper temple was godlike) and feels more filled.
And then you return to the Valley of Mines. You can almost taste the ash in the air and even the music has that empty, nostalgic and ruined feeling. Seeing the transformation of the land you traversed in the first game is a powerful moment.

I remember Gothic.. oh, the first three are really good.. i remember upgrading PC specifically for Gothic 3. But the first one blew my mind.
Yeah I started with Gothic 2 and played 1 several years after it. Also a thing: They developed it in under a year!
