You'd probably put a pay as you go SIM into something like this, so say you don't drive the car for a month, you're not paying for the contract, just the data you would use, or possibly a dual sim from your current provider also
We usually put the SIM Card Dongle in the Glove Box, although you only get a SIM Card Dongle on specific units, and specific styles, However if you've got a USB port from the system there, you could get your own 4G Dongle.
So If I connect my iPhone to the unit with WiFi and Bluetooth/ CarPlay is there a way to still use Netflix/youtube? Or does it HAVE to be connected through hotspot?
For anything on the Android OS, not the CarPlay or Android Auto, yes you'd either nee to hotspot the unit, or install a SIM card if the unit allows for it to watch Netflix or anything like that which would need an internet connection on the operating system side of the unit
Hi there, I'm trying to connect to my mobile hotspot from Android Auto device. Bluetooth & Wifi turned off on phone. The android device can find my mobile hotspot, but it won't connect to internet, it just says saved. It seems to be asking for Identity & Domain names which I've just entered as my mobile hotspot name 'Craig's S24 Ultra' Still won't connect just says saved. I can connect to a normal wifi network no problems, but just not the mobile hotspot.

It's asking for your identity, I'm not too sure what you mean, usually if you're connecting to a Hotspot it will ask for some sort of password which can be viewed on the device which is hot spotting, the only other thing I can think of is if you're pressing the new connection option, and it's asking for something like a MAC address or are connecting to the wrong internet source, which has some sort of intranet or login required for access
You will have to download the application using a third party application such as a downloader app, as depending on the version of the item you've got, there may be a block on certain applications via the PlayStore, but there is always a way to get it on there, just have to do some research on how to use a downloader application and install third party apps to the system
You'll probably need to check on your DATA connection via your phone, you can only use Netflix/UA-cam on the Android OS Side of a head unit, the Android Auto isn't capable of video, to do this swipe down from the top of the screen, and connect the unit to your phone's hotspot, this should let you use applications that need an internet connection

You have to enter the hotspot password as well
