Hi Ben. Thanks for DIY inspiring video :) I've been through installation and recommend couple of additional hints: - screen module hook release through DEDICATED hole in upper dash - I figured it out only after playing with my fingers through MAIN hole - lost around 30 minutes nervously dragging screen and caused additional loose in hook/dash surface physical connection - space above glove box seems to be a perfect place for the module (just remove additional cover on the right/left (EUR/UK) - makes the entire job much easier) - all cables fit the length, no need to make extreme squeeze work behind a climate control panel and, additionally gives an advantage to connect USB cable and pull it through glove box back door. Leave it in glove box for god-knows-which-possible-upgrade or wired connection or cameras upgrade...:) Besides, you get further access to the module by just removing one trim cover. - for the phone to work correctly it needs to set AUX as an external connection in original idrive system - for the screen position I'd recommend 25 pixels scrap from left and right edge (in settings app) the rest works just perfect! Thanks a million
Hey 👋 thanks so much, and thank you for the insight. I’m so glad it worked out for you and I must admit I’ll be taking onboard your advice, I’ll be going out shortly to adjust its location and also route the USB cable into the glove box. I am curious however, when using Wireless CarPlay I have noticed an ever so slight lag when changing songs and using both maps and Waze, I’m curious as to if this lag would be fixed if using the USB option.
Great video, helped me enormously and very chuffed with the result. Other than losing a spring clip from the passenger vent when I removed it, all went well. But I don’t have the scrap setting in display settings to tune this, any ideas?
Great tips Jacek. I did what you suggest before reading it actually. The dedicated hole as you say but it wasn't much easier. It was the longest part of the install, that dreaded tab just doesn't want to move, it looks terrible after all the hitting with the screwdriver and I am not sure how i managed in the end, whether it was my pulling of the screen or the tab did move down slightly, somehow it came out. I also installed the box above the glovebox as if installed in front of the head unit I could not fit the bulky power connector behind the screen, incredibly tight if not impossible with perfect cable arrangement, above glovebox seems much better although the LVDS in from the HU is VERY tight and almost 100% stretched, but there is no other way. One question is how does one get the USB cable in the glovebox? I only found some rectangular holes at the top of the glovebox but not big enough for the USB connector to go through, is there another way in? I have left that as my final step before putting everything back together.
I wanted to say a HUGE thank you for this video and your update video - it really helped me immensely. Just went through this process and it was great - went pretty smoothly!
What were your dip switch settings? My came with all off and wouldn't work at all. Finally heard from the seller that 1 & 2 should be on. Now I have a black & white frozen screen
Carplay actually runs off the phone. The box you bought is simply a receiver which 1. tricks the phone into carplay mode and 2. sends the video signal to your headunit.
That’s great Ben 🙂🙂 I’ll order that and try it and I hope it’s going to work with 6.5 screen on my mini F55 ... you maked me happy 😃 .. I was really waiting that
Solid video again Ben. Quick question, do you have trouble using the steering controls when playing music through spotify. It won’t let me change to the next song on mine.
Thanks for the kind words 😁 I have no problems with mine. You use the up, middle and down buttons as a way to navigate CarPlay as opposed to directly changing tracks.
Thank you 😊 I don’t use Android unfortunately so it’s not something I would be able to demonstrate! If your on the F56 Owners Club UK over on Facebook someone has shown what it’s like on there!
This looks amazing, being that i have the rear camera would it still be plug and play ? And if i use my USB port in the car that I currently have for charging purposes, will it affect the usability of the carplay ? I have subscribed to your channel like 3 times not sure whats going on .... but I’ll subscribe again, excellent content brother , cheers from across the pond in Orlando,Fl.
That’s a cool project! Been reading around trying to figure out if I could fit this into my Mini. Mine is 2015 with the 6.5” screen, I wonder if it would work. It would make such the difference on day to day usage
It would work! Both the 6.5” and 8.8” display in the F series will work, such a neat addition, especially if you don’t have a built in Sat-Nav! Also the audio quality is improved when playing through Spotify!
@@BenRolfe thanks for the reply. If I could suggest something, it could have been nice to see a full reassembling instructions video. For example I wonder if you have managed to put the Apple car box behind the head unit or if you had to use some other space? Also, would can’t wait to see your review of this car play. My biggest wonder is if the box itself would update as the phone gets updates released. Again, super interested in this project, would also consider buying the part and having it retrofitted professionally. Too bad I’m based in London, I’ve been looking for some clubs around here, but no luck so far.
I’ll try to cover the tucking it away in the next video along with the functionality. It tucked away nearly just above the climate control unit, very tight but it works well! Also the CarPlay unit will update as your phone receives updates.
Hey 👋 as long as you have your phone connected via cable or through WiFi it will start up automatically in CarPlay. When you start it iDrive will boot up and then will switch over automatically, takes about 5 seconds.
Hello Ben. Thank you for the great video explanation. I have just one question. Did you unplug the main battery of a car, before installing carplay? Thanks
Thanks Ben, that helped a lot in my install, and you're an all around entertaining guy. My unit is just the same and works well, only the volume is a bit low when I use it on cable - any thoughts? Thx again from a F54 SD guy in Germany ;) Editing this myself months later to add: The gain for the AUX/Cable input can be boosted in the original MINI menu, so all is fine. Are there software updates for this thing btw?
Congratulations for the video, I followed the steps and everything worked fine, but when answering a call, I hear the person but I can't use the microphone to speak, do you have any tips? Thank you very much in advance.
Thanks for the great video! I have a question. If you’re listening via CarPlay then leave and return to your car, does CarPlay continue or does it revert back to the drive system? Many thanks
Hey, thanks for the video, I was able to install mine incredibly quickly because of the help of your video. Quick question, did you find the audio quality for music to be better when using the USB input? (assuming you've attached that wire). I'm just trying to work out if audio quality is better via usb or the wifi option, and, if it is altogether better via either usb/bluetooth using the original IDrive system. I'm probably just imagining it, and I have changed the EQ which seemed to help, but I just don't know if music is *as* good quality as it was before. Would be interesting to hear what you've found.
Hey mate! I didn’t find much difference to be fair. You’ll only notice a difference when changing song. There’s a slight delay when using wireless as opposed to wired.
@@BenRolfe Oh fair enough, I think I'm probably just imagining it tbh, I have sinced played around a bit more with the EQ settings to get it on the one I think suits it best, as well changing the bass level because that seems to be higher though the car play thing. Unfortunately I don't have the harman speakers that you have, just ordinary ones, albeit they're still pretty good.
@@BenRolfe I’m just trying to install it in a CLUBMAN, I think there is less room there 🙁. In any case thanks for your quick answer! Really appreciate it. 👍
Great video and helped me install this in my F56. Does anyone know if there’s a setting to make the music play when CarPlay is activated? I’m having to select “AUX” on my iDrive system every time. I have put the tick on the aux setting as instructed. Cheers in advance.
Bro thank you so much for this video! I saw this box online fpr 450€ or so and didnt really think that it would actually work with my car! But your video has proven that it does actually work! And how amazing is it to be able to use the steering wheel buttons to navigate in car play!!? One more question though: Where did you put the car play box at...? And is it wireless apple car play...?
Hey 👋 thank you ☺️ the box is still working perfectly fine. This does also support wireless CarPlay. If you check my update video uploaded right after this video I show you where I put the box.
@@BenRolfe Im silly, shouldve watched the whole video 😂 Thanks buddy! really consider buying this thing! Though im afraid i will mess up my Headunit by fitting it...
Hi Ben can I ask where you got the upgrade for apple play & how much it cost ? I have a countryman 2017 Cooper s & would love apple play but I know i won’t be able to fit me self lol, love videos ❤️🥰
Hey 👋 I got mine from AliExpress! If the link isn’t working I’ll update it shortly. The process should be the same to install it as mine. Always here if you need any tips, I’ve helped many install on theirs which has been fantastic!
You can do, however, this box won’t work with yours. There are others out there which will work. You may even be able to have CarPlay coded into your car
@@BenRolfe Thanks for the fast response. Can u tell me what I need (if not to much work for you) to find out and what to do. Because on so many websites to many different stuff to find. Is there something existing what I need do find out, to buy, to install, to get, to do? Thanks
Hi Ben. I tried connecting and playing around with the in and out connection and it still shows as "no signal" but the original screen is showing something
@@terrim1153 Looks like you beat me to the question Tess. Have a 2019 F56 S and wondering if this carplay system is compatible with an EVO head unit. I almost positive it is, but will you post again once you have yours installed and working.
@@buddyconway9214 I received the EVO (ID5) unit, tried installing twice but it's not working on my entrynav HU, so I'm returning it. You might have better luck with it, if you decide to get it, if it doesn't work, you can return within 15 days of the product arriving
Hey Ben, I have a question, how is this android auto module doing? Is it smooth? maybe you would like to record a movie, how does it work, how does it activate and how do google maps work?
Ben thank you so much for this video! It has inspired me to do it myself and use your tutorial to do it myself, but I have two questions. 1. I have the exact same factory navigation system with the 8.8” screen, on the AliExpress link is it the CIC or the NBT system? I think it is the NBT system for us but I wanted to check with you first 2. I saw in your update video you have the box in an open space above the glovebox behind that glossy panel on the dash. I have a compartment where you finally ended up placing yours, do you have any suggestions for me since I have a second glove box there? Thank you so much and love all your videos!
Hey! Thank you 😊 you’ll need to order the NBT variant. I’ve heard that if you have the compartment there you’ll still be able to locate the box in the same place albeit it will be slightly tight
Hi Ben! Thank you so much for your videos. I just installed the passenger sport display into my 2017 JCW. I would also like to install this carplay option as well! Should I get the same unit as yours since yours is pre LCI? Also, any issues having both the passenger display and car play installed as far as the controls go? Both operate by using the menu button if I am correct. Cheers!
Nice video man. 1 question, if i have the stock reversing camera fitted on my car, i would need to fit those yellow rca cables for it? Or is there any other connection. I dont really want to lose the reversing camera or the self parking option
Thank you ☺️ whenever you put your car into reverse it automatically switches back to iDrive so you’d have access to your camera and reversing sensors if you have them. Once you take it out of reverse it goes back to the CarPlay system. The RCA cables are only for if you want to wire in an after market camera.
Hey Ben, love your videos. I have been wanting to do this myself but was never sure whether it would fit. I have a f56 S 2019 model that only has the 6.5 inch screen with visual boost. It doesnt have the navi on. Would this fit my car? i want to be sure before I actually pull the trigger on it.
Hey 👋 being the 2019 model it’s going to be hit and miss. If your iDrive interface looks like mine (the old style) then this will work, however, if your iDrive system has the new interface then unfortunately it won’t work as of yet. I think there are companies looking to adapt to the new interface but there isn’t anything as of yet.
@@BenRolfe Thanks for your reply Ben, my controller looks like this, found a website that has the picture www.killallchrome.co.uk/product/f56-carbon-look-idrive-control-console-panel-mini/ . my screen has the 6.5 inch with touch and mini connected and bluetooth ofcourse but no navigation and carplay, based on what i read other on other forums some say i can simply unlock it by using something like bimmercode but im not entirely sure. hoping u might have some intel on it. also how can i find out exactly which idrive system i have?
Hi Ben, great vid. I've followed the link to purchase but not sure which option to buy. Can you point me to the right one please. I picked up my F54 Cooper today, and I want to fit this.
I lost my door chimes in my 2014 mini once i got my system installed and the color ring sucks right now as its dim and doesn’t even go all the way around and odd colours pop up here and there all at once while i drive…like green shows at the right hand bottom and then a purple tinge at the top all at the same time….please help!
Hi Ben, Great video thank you. I have just installed mine, am i right in thinking i need to run the audio jack cable into the audio input below the climate control system, or have i missed a step somewhere. I have a spare audio cable with a 3.5mm jack on one end and 4 black connectors on the other, labled MIC-22C-DZ. Seems a shame to have a cable showing. Thanks Tony
Hey Tony! Thank you. No you don’t need to run the cable. I’m not sure why they included it as it’s not needed. If you go to the iDrive system and select Aux under multimedia you’ll hear the audio from the CarPlay box
Thanks Ben for your Videos its very helpful :) .. but unfortunately i ordered it yesterday from Aliexpress and today i got this answer ( Dear buyer, we found that this batch of products has serious problems when we shipped. Hi Ben, did you also encounter problems with the OBD scan tool not being able to connect to the ECU’s in the car after installing this kit? Because both my BimmerCode and Carly now give a connection error. 🤨
Do you have a mini part number for the larger display unit? I'd like to install the bigger screen. Also, can you display how to enable the Android Auto features?
Just come across this video and looks great. Do you know anywhere that shows this working with an Android phone as I use those rather than apple? If i can see it working with that I then just need to find someone to fit it for me!! Thanks again for a great video
Hey 👋 so glad you like it. Unfortunately it’s not something I can show, however, there are many people over on the F56 UK group ok Facebook who have installed this and use android
Hey Ben, awesome videos! I have a 2019 F56S with 6.5” non-touchscreen. Do you know if I can use the retrofit box? I’m confused about NBT vs EVO and LCI vs pre-LCI. Cheers!
Hi, do you can listen car radio when carplay is on screen? They can mix car radio audio with carplay audio? like listen waze indications when do you listen car radio? thanks
Thanks, you encouraged me to install CarPlay in my Mini F56, the issue I faced is mic not working at all when I tried to make a call using car play. Is there anything I missed

Hey! The box won’t fit behind the screen. I’ve only managed to locate it above the glove box in the void above there. It should also fit if you have the secret compartment
When you put it into reverse the iDrive does come back on until you then take it back out of reverse and then it goes right back to CarPlay. The detectors will still work 😁
Any idea how I might retrofit if I have an F56 that doesn't have that LCD display? I think the more basic model doesn't have an LCD like that. I have the same MMI box in my 2013 BMW, though, works great!
Did anyone need to adjust the toggles in the back of the Carplay unit on their F56 Mini? I hooked everything up and when I turned the car on, I got nothing but a blank screen. I tripple checked the connections and everything was connected correctly.
Apparently there's a few companies out there who claim to support the Evo systems. Before buying it though, I attempted disassembly but am having the hardest time removing the headunit via the top latch. Every other part of the head unit is popped out but I chickened out because the top part just wouldn't give. Any tips?
I just got my first Mini. 2021 Jcw. Do you know where I can get screens compatible for that model for Android Auto specifically. Most i can find are for 2014-2016
Hey Ben, I just bought a carplay box and still waiting it’s arrival. Now i want your opinion on where to place the carplay box in the dashboard. U Placed it behind the cover but I have a mini where there is a secret compartment. Can I put it over there or should i look into other options? Your opinion? Thanks in advance 😊
@@BenRolfe Hey Ben, I received my order and tried to install it but i ran into some issues. On your box (inside the dash) i see that all your connections are on the top. And on top of that after i put everything all together (without installing the carplay box) my carkey didn’t work anymore ... :s (thank god for spare ones). Hi Ben-another quick question if i may-when you have it on wireless carplay does the phone still work as before? ie all the steering wheel controls and from the original mini interface or does it all go via carplay? Needs to be super easy as my wife will not want to mess about too much Thank You
Hey 👋 when using either wireless CarPlay or wired the steering wheel controls control the CarPlay interface such as navigating CarPlay and changing song tracks. I’ll try and get a video today showing this for you and I’ll upload it as unlisted to hopefully show you the controls.
Cheers! Any tips on how to route the USB cable to the glovebox? Couldn't seem to find a way in, some cuts on the glovebox were too small for the USB connector to go through, is there another way to do this?
@@BenRolfe hmmm maybe I have something wrong with the setup. Mine stays on. I know this as it tries to connect to my Bluetooth constantly, even when the cars been locked for over 5 hours.
Now that you've had it a few months, how are you liking it? 99% of the time I just put my phone in the cupholder and use that for navigation + BT for music with spotify, so not sure if I'd end up using it much.
Hey 👋 I love mine! I really couldn’t be without it now. It’s so intuitive and it just works. I put my phone in my glove box and connect it wired directly to the CarPlay box but you can also connect wirelessly. I’d recommend it to anyone.
Hi Ben, thanks so much for this video. Managed to install, but I have found one issue. When I press the menu to go back to the idrive system, sometimes my screen just goes black and nothing works. whats the difference between mini F series and orange display also F series mini!!!??? what part is missing that prevents me from installing apple car play in my mini. Thanks
Hey! As long as you have either the 6.5" display or the larger 8.8" display (the one I have), then you will be able to install this. However, if you have the smaller orange monochrome display then this is unfortunately not possible.
Hey! This one I’ve installed can do android auto wireless, however, I’m not aware of it being able to play UA-cam videos but I can only comment for CarPlay.
Hi Ben, when you click on the link to purchase, it gives you different color options and ship from option eg Spain Poland China, which item do you choose and from where please. Also mine has the extra compartment, does this need to be removed and is there a video for this. Cheers
Will I still be able to use the USB in the dash or will I have to use the USB cable that comes with the box? I'm on the fence about getting this. I don't want to lose the usage of anything original from the car. And would it be the EVO system? I have a 2018 F56 base no nav
You have to use the USB connector that comes with the CarPlay box. You won’t loose any OEM functionality as all you have to do is hold menu for 1 second to go back to the iDrive system

Editing this myself months later to add: The gain for the AUX/Cable input can be boosted in the original MINI menu, so all is fine.
Are there software updates for this thing btw?
Congratulations for the video, I followed the steps and everything worked fine, but when answering a call, I hear the person but I can't use the microphone to speak, do you have any tips? Thank you very much in advance.
Hey! There should be settings within the CarPlay box to select using the car’s microphone
How do I know which one to order from the link? I have a 2016 with the 8.8 inch screen and Harman Kardon audio.
You’ll need the NBT one
WoW... super Ben....
Where did you buy this?
Thanks John! The link is in the description 😁
Hello!! Really nice video!! Where did you put the big electric plug(black one).It seems I cannot put screen back again because of that plug.
Hey 👋 thank you! Mine went right behind the display, between the display and the iDrive system
Aux should remain selected every time you start the car. Mine does
Bro thank you so much for this video!
No worries at all! Always here if you need a hand, just drop me a comment on here or over on Instagram if you use it.
@@BenRolfe Thanks!! Really appreciate your help! If ive got enough courage to get and put in this thing, i will let you know! :D
Hi Ben. Great Chanel. Do you happen to know if it’s possible to retrofit auto close door mirrors on an f56? Thanks.
Hey! Thank you. It is possible however you’d need to install the correct wiring harness along with doing the coding too with BimmerCode
Awesome vid. How much to fit one for me? Genuine question 😁
@@BenRolfe hi Ben yea I seen it after I ask🤦🏼♀️, thank u x
Great vid mate are you in West Midlands how much would you charge to fit ??
I am indeed! I’m sure something could be arranged 😁
Ben Rolfe cool you on Facebook il drop you a personal message on there
I am 😁
Ben Rolfe Hi Ben messaged you on Facebook again 👍
Hi … great video great channel.
Does it support IOS or is just for android.
Thanks.
I have a F56 Cooper S, from 2019, with Visio Boost, means touchscreen and without navi. Can I also upgrade with this? Thanks and great job
Thanks
Hey there- thanks so much for making this video! I'm based in the US...is there another option that you'd recommend that's based in the US? Cheers!
Also...the price seems to have almost doubled in the past three years...dang
Hi Ben. I tried connecting and playing around with the in and out connection and it still shows as "no signal" but the original screen is showing something
mines doing the same thing
Hey Ben. Great Video!! Looking forward to installing my own unit. For a 2021 F56 mini, is it the EVO ID5 option I should select on Aliexpress? Thanks!
Hey! Thank you 😊 I’d imagine so, I know mine is the NBT variant and the newer are Evo so that should work.
Thank you!! Going to put in my order now
@@terrim1153 Looks like you beat me to the question Tess. Have a 2019 F56 S and wondering if this carplay system is compatible with an EVO head unit. I almost positive it is, but will you post again once you have yours installed and working.
@@buddyconway9214 hopefully the unit should arrive in about two weeks. I will update you when I install it, fingers crossed it works!
Hey 👋 so far I haven’t had any problems. I’ll do another video over the coming weeks showing what it’s like now.
Ben thank you so much for this video! It has inspired me to do it myself and use your tutorial to do it myself, but I have two questions.
1. I have the exact same factory navigation system with the 8.8” screen, on the AliExpress link is it the CIC or the NBT system? I think it is the NBT system for us but I wanted to check with you first
@@BenRolfe Thank you so much! Ordering it within the next week or so!
@@BenRolfe thanks, i will start ordering away then.
Thanks for the video. Can you confirm if this is native CarPlay/Android Auto or if you need to use zlink?
It’s native CarPlay which runs off the MMI box
@@BenRolfeThank you
I'd like to do this so much but so scared to screw all up...
@@BenRolfe Thanks for your reply Ben, my controller looks like this, found a website that has the picture www.killallchrome.co.uk/product/f56-carbon-look-idrive-control-console-panel-mini/ . my screen has the 6.5 inch with touch and mini connected and bluetooth ofcourse but no navigation and carplay, based on what i read other on other forums some say i can simply unlock it by using something like bimmercode but im not entirely sure. hoping u might have some intel on it. also how can i find out exactly which idrive system i have?
good review! did you end up leaving the Carplay box in the glove compartment? I'm wondering if it can fit behind the screen somehow
I didn’t end up putting it in the glove box, it went behind the climate control area, a really snug fit but it works!
@@BenRolfe awesome! I wish you had included that as part of this video, I would love to see a part 2 showing how you mounted it if possible :)
Hey Ben, we just installed, but I can´t make the speaker work. Also the notifications for maps are not working. Any idea what´s the problem?
I will be doing mine soon. Did this cause any issues with the backup camera?
I didn’t have a backup camera with my car but if you have one pre-installed it won’t effect the function of it.
@@BenRolfe thats great, i will unplug it and see how i get on!
Hi Ben, thanks for this video ! Do you think it will work on my 2015 F55 Mini ? I don't know if I have a Pre-LCI or not.
Thanks Ben for your Videos its very helpful :) .. but unfortunately i ordered it yesterday from Aliexpress and today i got this answer ( Dear buyer, we found that this batch of products has serious problems when we shipped. did you faced any problem with it after some times of used ?
Hi Ben, going to buy this and just to confirm is it the NBT system i should order, not the CIC? Now seems to be £208!
Hey, yeah you’ll need the NBT version. Prices seem to fluctuate all the time depending on demand
Hi Ben, did you also encounter problems with the OBD scan tool not being able to connect to the ECU’s in the car after installing this kit? Because both my BimmerCode and Carly now give a connection error. 🤨
Hey! Had no issues at all. Did some coding the other day with no faults.
@@BenRolfe alright thanks, must be something else then!
Hey Rick! I have exactly the same problem, impossible to connect with the ECU after installing the kit... did you manage to solve it? Cheers😅
Do you have a mini part number for the larger display unit? I'd like to install the bigger screen. Also, can you display how to enable the Android Auto features?
Holy fuck! This is a dealbreaker
Isn’t it!
@@BenRolfe Cheers I will check it out. Thanks again as this looks like just what I need :-)
Hi Ben, great video.. can you use this system to retrofit a reversing camera. If so, have you done it?
Hey 👋 you can purchase 3rd party reversing cameras to install with this. I have yet to do it but it’s something I plan on doing.
Thanks, and that’s good to know.. looking forward to seeing you install a camera.. 👍🏽
They can mix car radio audio with carplay audio? like listen waze indications when do you listen car radio? thanks
Hi, you can’t mix audio but you can listen to radio with CarPlay on the screen
Thanks, you encouraged me to install CarPlay in my Mini F56, the issue I faced is mic not working at all when I tried to make a call using car play.
Is there anything I missed
Hey 👋 have you selected the mic to be the one in the MINI in the CarPlay settings?
@@BenRolfe am afraid that I don’t have this option in my settings

Hey Ben, You may have already answered this, but were you able to fit the Carplay box back in the dash behind the screen?
Hey! The box won’t fit behind the screen. I’ve only managed to locate it above the glove box in the void above there. It should also fit if you have the secret compartment
hi great video I just had a question I don't have the reversing camera but I have the detectors if I go into reverse, they will work automatically ?
When you put it into reverse the iDrive does come back on until you then take it back out of reverse and then it goes right back to CarPlay. The detectors will still work 😁
Ben Rolfe ok great so I will surely invest in this product thanks again for your video and your answer 😉😉
Hey! Thanks for this video, it may help lot of us.
This device do mirrorlink ?
Your welcome 😊 not sure about mirrorlink but it works with AirPlay/screen mirroring for iOS.
Ok because i search to cast my android too.
Is it possible to have a photo of the utilisator interface ?
Sure! I’ll try and get one this evening for you!
I remember seeing something called Autolink on there, not sure if that’s it
Hey Ben! Where did you fit the big bulky black connector. I'm not even close to being able to fit it behind the screen?
Hey! Mine fit perfectly right behind the display.
What’s size screen do you have?
Great !
where you bought it ?
Hey 👋 the link is in the description!
Hey 👋 you should still be able to store it behind there but you’ll have to remove the secret compartment first using two screws
@@BenRolfe Hey Ben, I received my order and tried to install it but i ran into some issues. On your box (inside the dash) i see that all your connections are on the top. My phone recognise carplay and it's connected
Hi Ben-another quick question if i may-when you have it on wireless carplay does the phone still work as before?
ie all the steering wheel controls and from the original mini interface or does it all go via carplay?
Needs to be super easy as my wife will not want to mess about too much
Thank You
Hey 👋 when using either wireless CarPlay or wired the steering wheel controls control the CarPlay interface such as navigating CarPlay and changing song tracks. I’ll try and get a video today showing this for you and I’ll upload it as unlisted to hopefully show you the controls.
it is really around the phone control as well that I am keen to see if possible
Cheers! Any tips on how to route the USB cable to the glovebox? Couldn't seem to find a way in, some cuts on the glovebox were too small for the USB connector to go through, is there another way to do this?
Hey Ben, I can’t pull off the climate control it’s would be with a lot of strength? Thanks!
Hey 👋 the climate control unit is very tough, it just takes a lot of force. Try pulling from the left and then right.
Does it not drain your battery when the ignition is off? My unit seems to stay on.
Not at all, 12v systems in the MINI are designed to be turned off after 5-10 minutes of locking the car.
@@BenRolfe hmmm maybe I have something wrong with the setup. Mine stays on. I know this as it tries to connect to my Bluetooth constantly, even when the cars been locked for over 5 hours.

@@BenRolfe Thanks Ben…ours seems to cut the radio as if the directions from the CarPlay sat nav (Waze etc), will come through but there’s no audio
Thanks
donde puedo conseguir el manual de instalacion?
Hi, I have a 2014 mini and it only has Bluetooth to connect my phone. Can I get CarPlay like in your video? I’m not very good with cars haha
Hey! As long as you have either the 6.5" display or the larger 8.8" display (the one I have), then you will be able to install this. However, if you have the smaller orange monochrome display then this is unfortunately not possible.
Looking at these, can this one to android auto wireless? Also can you watch UA-cam on it?

You won’t loose any OEM functionality as all you have to do is hold menu for 1 second to go back to the iDrive system
do you know if it works on a 2012 Giulietta with radionav? thank you
just to be 100% sure before ordering: this will also work with WIRELESS ANDROID AUTO??
