I put the Pertronix electronic ignition in my 58 IH 350 Utility-same machine and engine. I also hade to straighten a bent pushrod 2 months ago. I had neglected to readjust the valve clearance a few years ago when I had to head refurbished. Runs and starts great now! Clunky old backhoe/loader but, as they say, "Beats a shovel!" Thanks for jumping back into this project.

The other issue with these original carbs is with the float sticking and fuel pouring out-or not getting enough fuel.
Hook up a tank, it's starving for gas. Put it to it.
