That's aggravating when that happens. Looking forward to seeing how it works out for you. Stay safe.
You answered my question about electronic ignition. I think I will stay with points. I get five years out of a set now that I went to Borg Warner. Also I recommend Borg Warner caps and rotors to because they actually fit nice and tight on the distributer. I tuned my H up with them and it purrs like a kitten.
Happy Monday keep up the awesome work
Changed my H to 12 volt and electronic ignition a year ago and it’s a whole different tractor !
Beautiful tractor my new friend I learned on a John Deere 700 series ❤️
You should def do the replacement video. Glad its covered!
electronic ignition systems are normally more efficient than points and a condenser until they go wrong
*left our like👍Au 👍🌟full view🌟*
That was a great video!! I learned a lot 👍
As always good information, I am with you on contacting the manufacturer on the ohm read on that module. That does sound high to me, At least for any I have ever worked with
I didn't watch a single second but it played in full while I was in the shower. Ford ad before and after. Thumbs up #76
"Nosey" is pretty awesome! Hahaha! Good luck finding the problem!
Nice how to on checking out that ignition switch module.
Rob
Take care my friend
This makes me wanna fix my grandpas old super C. I believe just the battery is bad. It’s been sitting for a few years but it sure comes in handy in cutting the field behind my parents house.
Ah, the old days. I remember setting the points via a matchbook cover. Can't do that today.
God bless and be safe😎
Enjoy your videos
This one was very informative
Keep em coming buddy !
Red power! BOOM 💥
I have 4 tractors with Petronix. 3 Ford's (N series) and one Farmall M. I haven't any trouble with them. A couple months ago on one of the Fords all my tests led to a bad module. Long story short it was a coil. I always have a module on shelf just waiting but never needed it yet.
I think it matters how hard you work them. Those modules are not cheap like points
Only problem with petrol Tractor. With Derv no wire's lol. Nice old tractor mate of course. Would get wet in the Highlands and the weather would kill it. Good Tractor out with you tho probably.👍
@@FarmallFanatic Yeah I don't know any famers over here that run Petrol Tractors. You might see the odd old vintage Ferguson. Not a big seller over here buy a working petrol cheap abou 1500pounds for grey Ferguson. Most Tractors where Diesel over here as a cost factor and reliability. Back in the 50s when petrol was cheap people bought a few so some still survive altho not many i was at Auction about 3 months ago where nothing was making its money. Tc 👍
I think you're right Farmall! That seems awful high! Well if they sand behind it you should be good! I thought I seen feathers flying! LOL!! Have a good one!
Chickens fighting! Oh Noes! Looking forward to see the module fix.
I remember when you put those parts in there
Enjoy watching this.
👍👍
The reason those modules keep failing on you is that you are hooking them up wrong. If I remember correctly. You are running a resistor in line to your coil, so you are feeding your module reduced voltage. The modules instructions state that they require a full 12 volt supply. Try running a separate wire straight from battery voltage to your module. I bet you see a difference.
No I'm not running the resistor. The resistor is Built-in to the coil. This video is quite old I'm going to say maybe 2 years and I haven't burnt one out since
@@FarmallFanatic You may still check the voltage supplied to the unit. If the coil is internally resisted, it could still cause a voltage drop. Breaker point systems require this, it is hell on EI.
For the record the electronic models never go bad. They have no parts to ware out. This is a common mistake people make. When they replace them all they really did was fix a dirty contact. This is the reason most all these have life time warranties.
I think you can definitely fry the modules. The best warranty I have ever seen is 5 years.
👍👍👍
👍💥
I have had lots of problems with electrical.on old tractors but you can always fix them
Verify good power and ground to distributor and module. Then with a old school test light (one that has a incandescent bulb) test for a pulse from wire that goes from module to coil while cranking over . Hope this helps!
I never could figure out how to use one of those testers. I always need to look up how to use them, lol
I'm super confused. My Super M doesn't have a coil like this? It's stalling out when warm and isn't the carb so I suspected it would be the coil but I don't have one?
Goes from farmall fanatic to rooster wrangler in the blink of an eye . Curious if the new ignition helps cold start in winter ?
Are those copper core spark plug wires? I know Petronix recommend getting rid of them to eliminate the chance of a elecromatic impulses hurting the module. I've read however that shouldn't be a issue unless your really running a hot coil. I noticed you got the Flame Thrower. I have one on my M as well. If I remember they are 40k volts?? I've changed all my copper core wires just in case. Good Video. Control those chickens!
Well at least you know the issue and how to correct it...
Am I first??? Good information!
Nosy is pretty.
My farmall super c is acting like a spoiled brat. I think I have the same problem. Thanks for the info. Keep us updated. Or I'm going to push it off a cliff!🚜
I use Pertronix never had a problem in ten years. What are you using?
I think if you run your tractors hard it's a different game. I run an off brand with a 5 year warranty.
It looked like you were holding the wires and test leads together with your fingers, don't... it can screw up the reading. You should also check the resistance across the high tension side of the coil, it can fail as well, leaving you with a no spark situation.
I held it then didn't hold it and it didn't make a difference, but I know what you're saying
I thought you would have eaten that rooster
I'm thinking about putting an electronic ignition set up on the super h
Didn't get to it yet, in the process of buying a new house with a garage so will be looking into it once that's over with
Uh oh you're down a Tractor..
Hey, Chicken referee, Do you have 12v at the coil?
@@FarmallFanatic Thats ohms, I ask if you had 12 volts on the coil from the ignition switch.
farmall speled different tham chambers lol joke kool
Good luck breaking up the chicken fight.. 😆!#
Dang you need to by mechanic
I put electronic ignition on my 400 ,it burned up in about only four hours of use. I have points in the M and H and get about five years out of them and they purr like a kitten. I think I'll stick with the points.
You need a new tractor with a OBD port
I wish I knew what the heck you’re talking about!😂😂😂 I’m no mechanic...😒
Hey my friend, still waiting for an address to send you that Farmall item
NEED TO USE CARBON CORE WIRES
Not a big fan of Electronic Ignition unless it is OEM
I put a eletronic ignition in my ford 9n and my wife complains when i start it up in the garage because it cuts out the tv lol
