- Victor Delgado and Jorge "Joy" Alvarez-Tostado of Tacos 1986 hit the streets of downtown LA with Jenn Harris, senior food writer at the LA Times, and Jordan Okun, producer and host of Air Jordan: A Food Podcast. On this Chef’s Night Out, the four visit three of LA’s best restaurants: Alameda Supper Club, Majordomo, and Bavel, which was named the LA Times’ 2019 Restaurant of the Year.
They start the night off with wine and pasta, before heading to David Chang's Majordomo for a raw platter of uni and oysters, followed by smoked beef short rib. Then it’s off to Bavel for more wine, head-on shrimp, and a sampling of spreads before ending the night at Tacos 1986, where customers are waiting for Victor and Joy’s return.

He sure was!!!
Oooohhhh my god I'm dying 💀💀💀😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😅😅😅🙏🙏🙏
I couldn't hang around somebody smacking their lips every minute
🤣😭
I would go crazy
Trust me eating with him is the worst, throws dirty napkins everywhere. Eats with his fucking mouth open, talks with his mouth open.p
@@industrykillers7049 How can you talk without your mouth open? Besides sign
It looks like he got some medical condition regarding that smacks every minute
Saltbae but with coke instead of salt
Cokebae then..
You can't eat while you are on coke no appetite for food at all!!
Or meth
That sound he makes is what I do when I call my dog
My horse
these guys have no time for end of night partying ...went straight back to work after Chef's Night Out... pure legit
Taco guy: *has the audacity to show an ounce of personality
UA-cam commenters: i CANNOT watch this
Steve Waelde he seems like a nice guy but I wouldn’t be able to be around him for the reason that he smacks his lips every other min
Some people have an annoying personality
Personality is natural not forced to the point of being annoyingly obnoxious.
That's an annoying ass personality.🙄
I agree with you bro!
Let the man live 🌮
You guys
“Joy” does cocaine
That’s it.
Or something else
Funniest shit ever 💀💀😂🤣😅🙏🙏 good shit bro
Or meth yep lol
bet people in this comment section preach in their everyday life about being positive and encouraging people to be themselves... yet they’re on here being all negative about this blokes personality and who he chooses to be.. he ain’t here to please you.
exactly what i thought. He is having fun while being sucessful and people take their time to bash the dude on the internet.
Exactly! He gives off positive energy
Jordan Okun is the man, his podcast is one of the best food podcasts around.
Does he talk mostly about LA food? I might have to check him out
@@FinalFr0ntier Yup. I don't even live in LA and I love listening to it.
@@robdor83 Nice! I just moved to LA. Thanks!
dunno why people woke up on the wrong side of bed, best chefs night in a long time imo
I'm 100% positive I would rather hang out with Victor and Jorge than any of the losers in the comment section.
@@dirtporcelain So the majority of people in the comments section are complaining that Joy is annoying and your calling them losers.
As your complaining about complainers does that mean by your logic your a loser to ? If so welcome to the team.
I felt that guy was off his head on coke and to no surprise he confirms it at the end. Jesus
rory mcguire he does use though
Most people that work in the food industry are stoned to the gills off something or other. Amphetamines, coke, etc... Anything to stay up for the extremely long hours.
rory mcguire so what let him be
@@carlosespinoza4375 I was just surprised by it. I'm sure he's a lovely guy
juven romero ya I used to work n the kitchen everyone was on something lol
The Jorge "Joy" Alvarez-Tostado guy is as annoying as Salt Bae, Victor Delgado seems a chill guy though.
same!
Dude is an ass to his employees too, I was there for a half day before I just left.
@@TheLuisgrijalva lol why tho
I was there yesterday. These were the best tacos I’ve ever tried. Just overloaded with meat and season and flavour. Just amazing 😘🙌
The chef be living tent free in some of ya'll heads 😂
“It’s very important for me to implement that dialogue.”... then proceeds to splatter the taco on the plate. 💀😂 0:28
If that dude threw my taco like that after i payed for it!! I would throw it back like a frisbee
Just met Joy yesterday at the Burbank location. Super nice guy, and the tacos absolutely kill.
Jorge is so smart and victor super chill, great duo
I love these guys there so down to earth!
If you're looking for Lalo Salamanca, here he is making tacos.
A lot of hate but if you tried those tacos...

these guys are like a mexican stoner buddy movie. I'd watch that movie.
Guy flexing and smacking lips is cringe
There's boring folks and eccentric folks educate your self don't judge
i think your taking it too seriously.
we all have a guy like joy in our lives!!!
0:46 that guy sounds like lil yachty
“Angelina’s give zero fcks about New York chefs” 😂 only ones who say that are the ones who failed in New York so they settled for LA.
The dude is passionate about his trade. He’s humble to be recognized at a fine establishment. Many bendisiones to these 2
holy ghost He’s NOT humble lmao 😂
Does anybody know the background music used in this video during the first three minutes !!!!!????????
Urban Empire - Collins / Elder
it is not Darude - Sandstorm
@@Munchies dayum .....straight from the creators......and keep doing the good work 😄😄
The little guy reminds me of Tito the chihuahua from Oliver and Company.
Our taco sauce is in honor of a old Mexican recipe my aunt Connie Cruz showed me 20 years ago.
Production is great. Love the new post cuts and transitions.
Love these folks
Man I love this spot I go there Everytime I'm in Downtown LA
Making me hungry 🤤 dope episode
My guy's voice sounds exactly like Bourdain's at 6:45
holy shit good ear!
You can tell Jenn was getting irritated with all that damn noise he makin😂🤦🏽♂️
Joy: “smacks lips”
Tony Montana: What was that? What the fu#k did you just do with your lips?
Everyone hating on the red shirt dude I was more upset with the big dude that had his legs wide open when the other 2 ppl barely fitting comfortable
clearly he's tasting the air around the food before taking a bite. Next level stuff
This guy is just as annoying as the bar rescue guy “ALL IN”
Chefs night out always got the most critical comments.
right, like the man's happy and isn't hurting anybody, and he legit says that he likes to put on a show when the camera or eyes are on him. Chill people
Love Joy's postive attitude 💯
Michelle Grijalva damn you have the same last name as me haha it’s not common so I’m surprised
Michelle Grijalva damn you have the same last name as me haha it’s not common so I’m surprised
Joy is played by James Franco
Budget hispanic version
Joey is mad chill
It's still wild to me to hear so many Mexicans and Latinos wanting to work under michelin star chefs, when a lot of those chefs travel to Mexico and learn from the abuelitas
I agree.
these guys are the best. I want to come out and have your food. Your spirit is real.
Mathy Mattheson getting his tacos at 2:55
hahaha!
That's actually Clifford Endo
I see this guy everywhere congrats bro
Very entertaining 💪🏼
I lasted a minute
idk about tacos but I sure could go for a kiss
This dude inspired me
All these restaurants look good 👌🏼
Michael Diaz bavel is not good and nowhere near as hard to get into as they claim. Majordomo is incredible tho
Man I can't die and not try these fire looking tacos they look 10/10
Pepe Lopez is hittin that Tina ... that lip smacking is straight hilarious B
Those tacos look BOMB 🤯
Have they doused all the runes before getting to Majordomo? There wont be any Rag later if they dont
Give respect and you get respect . Tacos 1986 is now on my bucket list
This looks delicious man. Reminds me of the tacos that Ive ate in tj
C O C A I N E
People are so jealous they aren’t coked out like my boy Joy. He living
Dude is a coked out chihuahua 😂😂😂😂
I never knew overcoming awkwardness with douchbagery could pay off so well. Oh wait, it doesn’t.
oh shut up. If he was like that throughout the whole video then I could understand. He seems alright.
3 years later this comment resonates well
@@bluntsarcasm9204 lol
idk about america but here in EU we take our hat off when we having dinner in restaurants
Its only mandatory in the united states if you're at fine dining. Most of these spots are casual. Although its part of our etiquette to take hats off indoors, I guess it laxed out maybe a couple decades ago. It mostly applies to things like work or church now-a-days.
cool video
Good video. Love this guy
Actually, it would be really nice if he doesn't throw the food when he serves his castomer
Kystumer
Coostmer*
coked up dude
The guy with the cap looks like Fred Durst 💪
I feel like Vice Munchies needs to do a spinoff for only Mexico. Name it Mexico's Chefs Night Out.
They’re off the chain, they get down!!
That mans buggin but I bet them tacos are fire
1986 was a good year
Very fun episode. 😁
Love it or hate it dude gots his shit going on!
'His Sensei' taught him well 😂
dont do cocaine boyz
he flexes 6.5 billion times a day. he flexes while he sleeps.
I'd love to hear the story about how two guys with such different temperaments became friends and business partners.
Unwatchable clip because of the antics of the smaller guy.
If you watch the whole video he wasn't bad at all. Unless you think being complimentary and thankful is unwatchable. The first minute of the vid I can understand but the rest he seemed nice!
@@zerafmaxx1010 Obviously I didn't watch it all. "It's unwatchable". It's great that he's complimentary and thankful, but it doesn't change the fact that he's obnoxious and just.. awful in his demeanor.
Man this was a really great episode for its hot-take on David Changs new restaurant Major Domo in LA and a great snippet about boisterous New York chefs coming in and trying to interpret Los Angelos trends. Way to stick it to David Chang for being an artist, going to an unheard neighborhood and being original. At the end of the day people want authenticity.
Kevin it’s actually a very busy and trendy neighborhood, there are very popular bars and speakeasys a short walk away and parking is 20-25$ in this area
11:14 shout out to Jeff from RIFLA
Bro yall hate on this man too much
Bruh why is he ruining every taco by throwing it onto the plate smh
Somebody is high as a kite
I tried liking the video but that guy really is like trying to enjoy a sandwich that has sand in it.
The kissing shit lol
I dont know why but at 0:00 O'Doyle rules. Just came to my head.
Holy shit, how can you guys have so much bad to say about one person. You probably never met the guy and you straight up trashing him, you're the ones with the issues.
must be some good coke
0:01 weird flex but ok
They got shit housed and the dude took a shift😂😂😂
I'm Asian and Mexican food is number 2 on my FAVORITE FOOD IN LIFE. Number 1 is any Asian food, well most Asian food if you know what I mean lol
It’s funny how the annoying guy trying to get the swag of Tijuana taqueros he just comes off rude instead throwing that food around like that
Power I love it.. Jammer
Why so many haters in the comments,,yeah dude smacking his lips is wackbu but I btpet those tacos are flame specially the Carne from the trompo shut looks flame,,,,
The guys seemed so genuine but journalist and the podcaster seemed so smug entitled and annoying,
Passionate about food but I thought you tasted wine to see if it was corked not if you like it? Top chefs?
Some of you people complain too dam much I like his personality being him self
You guys should go and visit and interview " Tacos Alex" in San Marcos California the smallest taco shop you could ever imagine always full of people trust me they ARE the best tacos in Cali 🤤🤤
So what if the guy is a bit annoying...tell me who isnt...but hes worked his a*s off and hes done good. More power to him and f*ck the haters...😂
Hell yeah
its cool how munchies edits out the hundreds of thousands of homeless people on the LA streets
