I have a guitar for every tuning and I still use my whammy DT everyday. The whammy DT is the whammy plus the drop tune, but you can also go up an octave in half steps on the drop tune side. It's most useful when I want to quickly hear how a riff sounds in different tunings/keys without having to plug in 5 guitars while I have inspiration I'm trying to capture. Also, the octave down is great for quick bass lines. With the whammy DT, you can set the whammy for an octave down, then set the DT side for whatever tuning you want for writing bass lines on the fly.
I've had one for years and really only use it for 1-2 steps and you can't tell it's done digitally. The most useful pedal ever aside from a tuner. Also you can blend the octave down with your dry signal. Used that recently for Opeth's Charlatan and it sounded insane. And you can set the switch to momentary if you want a really low and gnarly section in just a part of a song. Essential pedal. Pricey, but with what it does it's not worse than most pedals.
I love mine, and I use it mostly for C standard and down. I love the bottom level, which is the octave down AND your dry signal. Dialed in well, the sound is huge! I also use it for writing/recording bass and guitar at the same time.
I got one when they first came out hoping it would sound legit it does just like he said. Sounds good about the first half after that the lower you go the worse it sounds. Still totally worth it because you can keep your guitar set up for standard tuning with lighter strings. I use it like a baritone for country. Another cool trick if you play slide guitar in open tunings tune to open G and drop down to E or D when you need to. It has been on my board since I got it. The prices have gone up a good bit lately. I think mine was $150 5/6 years ago.
I have the Pitchfork by EHX. Biggest differences is it only has 3 octaves, but has 3 mods to move the pitch up, down, or a combo or the two. Only reason I got it was so couldn’t find a reasonably priced Digitech drop at the time, so I just settled for the pitchfork. Very happy I pulled the trigger. It’s a good alternative for those who are interested
Boys, I got the EHX Pitchfork and I like it better! It's more versatile. There's a toggle switch that can go up or down up to 3 octaves and the middle position is up and down at the same time. The blend knob allows you to get some crazy synth kinda sounds. It has an expression jack and you can go wild with that. I had a velcro fuzz sound going from my fuzz factory and a little delay and I was playing the Blade Runner theme with this thing. It's sweet and I think it even better. Whatdya think, Steve?
Basically first in chain or right after your tuner is what I would say. I haven’t used it much because I have guitars for every tuning I need, but when I messed around with it, that’s where I placed it.
This pedal is the best sounding pitch shift pedal. I have 3. The Electro Harmonics Pitch Fork sounds ok but they left out several half steps. It goes from 2 to 4. 3 half steps is called C# and is used by many big name metal bands. Why on earth would they let that out. Also have the Donner and it's ok but at 3 & 4 half steps down doesn't sound as good as the Digitech. Having spent almost as much for the Pitch Fork as the Digitech, I wish I would have bought a 2nd Digitech instead.
It's a good pedal and I like mine, but it does darken the tone in a way that's noticeable compared to actually tuning down, especially when playing clean.
Does it bother you to hear the dissonance from the strings being a different tuning than the sound from the pedal? Or is that not an issue when you play loud enough
Years ago I had a digitech whammy- the newer digital version, not the original analog one- and it was glitchy as shit so I sold it. I'm not as clever as johnny Greenwood. Is this pedal better than the whammy in that regard?
I bought It right now and I haven't used yet. I have a pedal power plus 2 power supply for voodoo lab. Can I Connect It there for power or should I use It with It's own power supply? I don't want to damage the pedal
Awesome pedal, I find it strange unless playing thru headphones or a very loud amp because strings noise is different to what’s coming out of speakers & can be very off putting…
Absolutely. After about 3-4 semitones down from wherever your guitar is tuned you start to notice some tracking / latency / digital artifacts, but it’s pretty good up to that point.
I've been using my drop pedal for 3-4 weeks (amazing thing btw) and I've noticed that when I drop my guitar from drop A# to some other lower tuning, (example to drop G), the sound from a power chord gets pritty muddy. I was just wondering if it's a problem that could be fixed or is it just a thing happens when tuning "too low".
Just what you get with the technology being what it is. You can start with your guitar in a lower tuning to begin with though, so that it sounds better and you don’t have to take it as far using the pedal.
This thing is super lame. Why mot just play synth at this point . Ir one of those goofy electronic guitars. A pedal tuner to with drop tunes is one thing, but these things are dumb.
Absolutely one of most useful pieces of gear that I have. Spread the word.
got my own the other day, lots of fun!
This is what I always needed. As a guitar player on a budget, I don't have the money to buy multiple guitars. This is THE solution!

I've found this pedal so useful.
I use it for drop d down to drop c and drop b to drop a
It means I don't have to cart 4 guitars to band practice
I love mine, and I use it mostly for C standard and down. I love the bottom level, which is the octave down AND your dry signal. Dialed in well, the sound is huge! I also use it for writing/recording bass and guitar at the same time.
If you dont have this pedal/want to buy it, you can do the same on helix native amp plugin, its called polycapo
That's pretty slick!🤘

this will make life easier!
how much are these little wonders by chance?

Recently got one and it’s my favourite pedal ever
Just got one.
They make a combination of the Whammy pedal on one side and this on the other. Not cheap but that pedal does everything but the dishes.
Love mine
I've just got one of these and they are worth the money especially to someone like me who only owns 1 guitar. It sounds great!
I got the best results with the digitech drop using 8-38 strings. It's not huge but it helps. The Drop likes a really bright source.
I have it. So amazing. Made my life so much easier
It is the second most important pedal behind a tuner pedal.

Where would suggest placing this in your signal chain? I picked one up when I got a Sabbathi. They're fun to play around with for sure 🤘
Basically first in chain or right after your tuner is what I would say. I haven’t used it much because I have guitars for every tuning I need, but when I messed around with it, that’s where I placed it.
If you've got a whammy bar but like lower tuned stuff. Then you'd like a good pitch shifter
That volume knob on the SG is an eyesore.
Na man. Perfect spot. I have an 89 special with 3 knob layout. So much nicer than my 4 knob standards!

I recorded this tuned to D Standard and I'm playing a backing track in E standard - I'm using the DSP Plugin Mesa Boogie Plugin - @
free tip you can stack these
It's a good pedal and I like mine, but it does darken the tone in a way that's noticeable compared to actually tuning down, especially when playing clean.
“only have a couple of guitars” haha ha. ha
idk which is better. the thick curly beard hair or the silky straight hair on top
Where can I get that guitar?!
Oyt of curiosity Where did u find the knob on that viper?
eBay. www.ebay.com/itm/201479430032?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=LMNe4WxqSkm&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=BeSkOlXdQLS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I want to buy the drop from digitech or pitchfork from ehx. Which one do you think is better for stoner rock?
Can you use this with a combo amp? I have a boss katana 50w
Can i go drop C or drop A on bass Vi? With this pedal???
Does it bother you to hear the dissonance from the strings being a different tuning than the sound from the pedal? Or is that not an issue when you play loud enough
Yes, definitely an issue when practicing at low volume. Not an issue at high volume.
Years ago I had a digitech whammy- the newer digital version, not the original analog one- and it was glitchy as shit so I sold it. I'm not as clever as johnny Greenwood. Is this pedal better than the whammy in that regard?

Hmmm I wonder how low you can go with it. Like if you are already in drop C or D can you use it to push you tone even lower?
Absolutely. After about 3-4 semitones down from wherever your guitar is tuned you start to notice some tracking / latency / digital artifacts, but it’s pretty good up to that point.
Otis Driftwood?
correct me if im wrong, it only goes 7 semitones down and then skips straight to octave? i cant for example play in G standard?

@@DoesItDoom ah,bummer. Thank you for the advise though!
Is there one that pitch up.. my guitar is in F standard would like to set it at C standard
I’m believe the Digitech Whammy DT goes up and down.
They make a thing called a capo
Can this pedal transpose it up instead of down tuning? I'm curious..
No, the drop only goes down.
Can it do open e tuning?
No. It tunes your entire guitar down.
Can i use it for C# Black Sabbath stuff?
Yep.
@@DoesItDoom thanks man! Love your channel by the way!
I want a digitech wah but thing is 300 bucks 😳. Hefty price for a pedal.
This pedal is out of stock worldwide
This thing is super lame. Why mot just play synth at this point . Ir one of those goofy electronic guitars. A pedal tuner to with drop tunes is one thing, but these things are dumb.
It actually isn't. It sounds excellent unless you drop like 5+ semitones then it starts to sound a little off but it's still not bad.
