Thank You, Thank You Brandon! Love Gear reviews especially when you are learning as you go for all of us! I get so much more relevant and useful information from it. This "First Impression" Vid is great to watch and learn from. Cheers to you for taking the time to post! BTW, Your Cover of "Black Lungs" is flat out incredible and I watch it at least 3 times a day as I am trying to play it on guitar but I am not at your level yet but I will get there one day!
Cool! Sometimes I think I want to remix my Disconnection album to make the guitars and overall clarity better. It's hard to listen to these days. Also have writer's block for a new album anyway.
@@BrandonBurch Yeah it would be awesome to hear like a 2024 re-recorded or remastered album of "Disconnection". It's definitely still one of my favorite albums!
Hey Brandon! I'm back... again 😅 Been watching your new videos and rewatching some of the old ones 😊 About the writers block - If you have some ocd, or you think that your ideas are not good enough - don't think about it. My friend has the same thing - he writes a lot of demos, lots of great material and he's too hard on himself. Just be yourself - you don't have to proove anything; I'm still ocassionaly listening to Freefall: Alpha and Disconnection. Great albums. And of course, one of my old time favourites - Shadow. The chorus to Shadow is stuck in my head still to this day, after all these years. I'm not kidding - my top 3 metal choruses are from Shogun by Trivium, Shadow, and Taking over me by Evanescence. So, Brandon - give us more of your art!
@@shadowdark5452 thank you for the encouragement and reassurance. :) maybe I'll have to finish my songs I shared that were unfinished from last year. Had a good time with that video at the beginning of the year. But lately I've been into trying VR for the first time. Got some content I'm recording and editing for the gaming channel : Beyond Xen. VR is so fun!
Yep, and I knew there would be. (as I said in the video) But I'm comfortable with my setup. I'll just have to deal with it. I talked to another dude on UA-cam who uses this pedal with amp sims so I knew it could be done. :)
Any replies would be appreciated. So , I’m running a 5150 Iconic and for some reason with this pedal, I experience a volume drop when engaging just the whammy ? Only thing I’m running in front of it is a tuner . I’m into my effects loop as well. Hmmm. 🤔
Yeah I was watching Nick Broomhall the other day and he noticed that difference when looking at the DI in his DAW. Looked like it was a lower output. Not sure why that would happen but that sounds like what's happening. I haven't noticed it myself though.
Hey Brandon! I gottay say, that Digitech Whammy is so clear and it's super useful for super low tunings! It's now giving me some hope of buying one myself. How does it work with playing leads or solos on the drop tune setting?
Just got one last month, and It’s massive fun. I have 3 guitars (a baritone 7 in F#, a standard 7 in drop A/standard E, and a 6 string in drop D) I can cover pretty much anything just with the pitch shifter alone. Just note that the lower you go it sounds more artificial, BUT still useable with EQ tweaking
Yeah man I feel ya. I did use it for my latest cover so it really helped me down tune 2 half steps like I'd hoped. 🤘🏻Have fun and thank you for watching!
Ugh, I’m gonna need one of these😂 I’ve got 2 guitar tracks specifically for octave down and octave up, to get that (Humanity’s last breath, Reflections, Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza) sound😍
I grabbed one of these up a few years back. Absolutely love it. BUT it has a rather large footprint. I have a wah on my board as well. So to be able to have a whammy effect I ended up picking up a pitchfork+ as well as a mission engineering expression pedal. Now I can tuck away the actual pedal under the hood on my pedal board and just use the expression pedal right next to my wah. The pitchfork+ does all the whammy stuff at equal performance. It's just smaller and more flexible. But I still won't get rid of my whammy dt. Its just powerful af. Theres also midi mods for the whammy dt that do some cool stuff. Like make it a phaser or chorus.
@@BrandonBurch hell yeah man. I actually got bit by the gear acquisition syndrome. Its a crippling disability on the best of days. Lol I was tone chasing the perfect head for years. I finnaly found it with the EVH 5150 el34 100 watt head in 2020. For me it doesn't leave much to be desired. I had to grab a few extra things to get the amp to communicate well with MIDI but ever since, I've been grabbing up all the coolest toys I can. All I'm missing now is The Fart Pedal and a good synth pedal.
How the hell are folks able to set your buffer that low. I have an Apollo Twin, pretty beefy PC, and anything below 256-512 I’m getting artifacts and clicks. Tried optimizing but nothing really helps. I believe it’s an Alienware Aurora R6 with 32GB Memory. I7. I took out the GPU & Disabled Wifi & Bluetooth per various articles on the issue.
Is it happening with standalone amps also? I remember having that issue with One Kit Wonder drums when I had the CPU scaling to high. Setting it to low made it better.
Hey man! Awesome vid! For a seven string with drop A tuning, how low can we go without compromising the tone meaning, still be able to play chords and have clarity?
I find that anything below 2 semitones starts to degrade the signal - or I should say - starts to muddy it. But it works okay for up to 4 or 5 semitones down (or up).
I hadn't heard of it before, but it looks like the XP 100 is the older version. Except that I noticed that it has a wah effect in it that I don't think my whammy drop tune pedal has.
@@douchecraft3113 indeed so! I think it must be because it's pre-effects and not a post volume effect. It would pretty much be just like maybe turning down the gain volume on my knob on my guitar.
Yes you can drop down a half step. That's actually what's happening when I use the shift up or shift down knob. It's numbered in half steps; also known as semitones. It goes all the way to 7 half steps down (or up) and then it jumps to an octave -- which is actually 12 semitones from its octave.
Hello, noob question. Could you please explain what do you mean by half step down, full step down? For example If I tune an E Standard guitar half step down, it will be Eb Standard? And full step will make it D Standard?
Does DT Whammy and Drop Tune pedal the same? The performance, etc? I have Drop Tune pedal, but the thing is, you can't tune up, but if with DT Whammy, you can. So it means that, it's the same right?
Yes, I would assume the performance would be the same, but I don't know for sure. I would think only difference is the amount of things this whammy pedal can do to the signal instead of just Drop.
Hey, I wanna buy a new 7-string at the end of the year, would you recommend buying a static one and getting a pedal like this, or just finding one with a whammy built in?
I'd personally want a 7 without a trem bridge so I could change tunings if I wanted to. With this pedal that makes things a little easier but if it's a Floyd Rose then if your string breaks , the guitar goes out of tune because all the tension is being held by strings. Unless you want the whammy bar on the guitar .. Thanks for watching!
If only they whould make that somehow more compact. That thing is gigantic.... i have no idea how to put that thing on my pedal board without buying a new pedalboard :S
The delay isn’t great on those DT things… I’m intrigued as to why you have a lot of high end on the guitar tone brother… it’s almost painful on earphones, maybe that’s what you want! Anyhoo.. thanks for taking time to share, sending regards from London 🇬🇧 UK
Oh god, holy bangers and mash my good man, bro is showing his unfettered exploration into a feature heavy pedal he is unfamiliar with; if we were just hanging out, figuring out what sounds we could get out of it-this is what it would be like. Got to overlook the clash of high end EQ on this considering one of its most popular uses is dramatically raising / lowering pitch… I’ve used the pedal for many years. I sold it got rid of it. I bought another one. Glad I didn’t get rid of this one. A footnote I don’t know if it’ll be helpful, but I found that drop tuning warble artifact can be obviated by use of a compressor. I use SP compressor… and it gets you good all the way down to around LED 5, which is bonkers. Seems like a wasted thing, but it actually will smooth that warble out… Not like many people will need that but I have needed it and it worked. Now I use the thing for cooler stuff- and I’ve been using the ricochet and went back to this. God save the queen.
Whithout any intention of demerit the effort... Although your tone is set to your specific genere, it gets way too much in the way of having a clear appreciation on what the pedal is doing.
Well the added latency is one downside to this pedal. I see this pedal as a thing that ties me over until I can afford an 8 string and a 9 string to go along with my 7 string. Then I will have guitars with strings 6 through 9. Haa
