And now you know the story of Saltburn. I'm a chef at a theatre so I went and saw this when it was out, and when I got asked about this, I just told people that they had to go and watch it themselves.
Oh bless you, this might be the most *optimistic* reaction to Saltburn I've seen - especially the first 45 minutes!
I love that you thought the ending sequence was funny because IT WAS!
Other reactors are weirdly shocked or silent. It's a dark comedy folks!
Saltburn is one of the most warped films I've seen in years 🤯
This movie made me question if I’m a freak or not, because before seeing it, I saw comments about how disturbing it was. And even stories of people leaving the cinema.
Yet when I watched it, I didn’t find one thing about it disturbing or horrible. Just a film with weird stuff happening in it.
Same. Actually can't understand how people find it weird. I mean this vampire scene gawhd :D
You don't find the murder of 3 (fairly) innocent people horrible? Or the manipulation and lying?
@@Chromium457 in fiction no. I real life yes. But they’re not the scenes people were talking about, are they.
@@crinbob In your comment you specifically say NOTHING in the movie disturbed you. So that is cause for concern.
I found the movie highly enjoyable but the themes disturbing. I'll probably even watch it again, I just won't sit there thinking everything's wonderful.
@@Chromium457 do you think I should go see someone about it? Because Saltburn didn’t disturb me?
Your comment at 16:21 during Venetia's recounting of the Shelley incident-- I heard this mentioned in a video explaining some interesting details about the film and can't believe someone else finally brought it up!!
6:00, Honestly, with how intense, rude and unhinged he was, it’s no one he gravitated towards the calmer friendlier person who was nice to him on their first encounter.
On the surface, it would be a little harder to suspect anything else was wrong, but of course people have seen Euphoria so naturally, we as an audience probably already suspect he’s trouble, though that may be in service to the film’s twist of Oliver being a jealous, obsessive megalomaniac specifically out to gain control of Saltburn.
When you mix CATFISH, PARASITE, with a splash of INGRID GOES WEST. 😂
I missed Felix's doppelganger on my first watch.
Good catch!
"I'm stressed, I'm stressed! This is gonna have to be blurred! I'm sorry, this is gonna have to be blurred, I'm sure you can figure out what's happening! It's wrong! In every single way possible" - perfect review to sum the film up 🤣 5 stars
35:29: "There's still half an hour left! What's gonna happen in this time?" 😈
Why is everyone so kindness you say famous early last words literally everyone was ethically bankrupt😂
So I feel like I have to say this but I'm pretty sure all the rooms and their colors particularly the dining room turning red when the curtains are drawn are/might be a reference/symbolic homage to Edgar Allen Poes "The Masque Of The Red Death". Given all the references to poetry and classic poetic devices/themes. Even though it may be a bit odd considering the films largely British.
It's my personal favorite Edgar Allen Poe story. It's about a group of wealthy aristocrats that lock themselves up in a big castle because a particularly lethal plague called The Red Death is currently an epidemic in the surrounding countryside. It's a disease that causes you to contort and bleed out upon death hence the name.
The aristocrats lock themselves up so they can essentially party and engage in hedonism in complete safety while riding out the plague. With absolutely no concern for the common people they rule over who can afford no such safety. And in the castle there are different rooms themed after colors so the blue room, the green room, etc.
But the one themed after red is actively avoided by all the patrons because it reminds them of the red death and the fact that people are suffering from it while they the wealthy and powerful do nothing to help them. They throw a masquerade ball (a masked costume party) and an unknown guest shows up in red and in a ghastly mask that is purposely made to look like someone who has died of the red death.
And the doors are locked tight for their survival with no one going in or out of the castle. So it can't be a new guest it has to be an existing guest. So they're obviously all appaled because this person devoid of all their pompous tact is forcing them to have to face an issue they actively wish to ignore. They're so offended they chase him throughout the castle determined to discover his identity.
And they finally corner him in the red room. But when they go to confront him all they find is the clothes with no one in them. The implication is that the red death itself came to call on their party offended at their thoughts that they could avoid it and ignore it's existence. The red death was pissed it wasn't invited. And the other implication being that they are now all contaminated and will soon die of the red death.
If you'll notice the scene with the curtains is where they're finally forced to some degree to acknowledge their son's death just like the patrons are forced to acknowledge the red death. The theme is that death is all intrusive and will not be ignored or if it is it is at your peril.
The bathroom scene was spoiled for me, and I still almost vomited when I saw it.
Best Movie I have seen in years. Loved it and have watched it 4 times already. It's so funny, twisted and disturbing in parts but brilliant.Barry Keoghan is amazing as he is in everything he does. So talented
This movie was crazy. The family was crazier love the video Alyska stay motivated Dream big 1 mill on the way
This was a pleasant surprise. Hope to see more uploads from you this year.
This film reminds me a lot of a series of novels that were made into movies by Patricia Highsmith: The Talented Mr. Ripley (made into two movies?), Ripley Under Ground, Ripley's Game (made into just one movie?), The Boy Who Followed Ripley, and Ripley Under Water. There, as here, a charming criminal murders and steals and gets away with his crimes.
“Just eat the eggs eat the eggs” may have solved saltburn. Not really but it’s fun to joke.
the tautness of your earphone lead makes me anxious!
honestly i don’t know if it’s because i heard about the scenes before i watched it or if i’m just desensitized, but i didn’t find the movie all too shocking😭
Same. Honestly don't know if im weird but that Vampire scene was gahw damn 😏☺️
Hey Alyska,
I hope this year 2024, brings you love happiness and joy!
How do reactors keep recognizing aemond targaryan. He's such a different guy here.
At least Archie has similar vocal inflections as midsommar
Best film of 2023 for me! You should watch the director's first film, Promising Young Woman, another great film.
I wish you would watch the original flatliners. No one else has.😊
Awesome reaction of my favorite movie!!!!😊😊😊😊
but you better not kill the groove
I love this film!!! Happy New Year!!!
Some people really are doing blesses in the looks department damn
What happens to Bad batch if I may ask?
You should watch Casper next. It's a great classic.
I missed you a lot❤❤❤❤❤❤
Happy new year .

Happy New Year!😍
This film was mid I think the biggest problem was I didn't care about any of the characters nor are they likable like you got good actors playing these characters so it probably the performances that elevate the characters rather then the writing it a similar problem I had with oppenheimer and priscilla films.
And the grave scene that goes on for ever yes I know Barry keoghan improvise the scene but it felt a bit self indulgent.
I don't know if the film knows what to say about the themes of class so it not massively explore.
Mid isn't a word
@@daurydavis3983 would alright or okay suffice you instead of mid ?
The film was only okay because while it has a lot of style and beautiful cinematography there wasn’t really a lot of substance under the surface
@@playermartin286 Did we watch the same film? There was a lot of substance in this film, wtf you talking about?
This movie was disturbing and not in a good way
Still hoping you'll react to The Legend of Korra since you've finished Avatar: the last airbender long ago
I told you it was weird lol
Watch life of pi and RRR
Hi Alyska, happy new year, all the best for 2024. I've never heard of this movie. Please react to my favourite movie; the WWII drama Memphis Belle (1990) as soon as you can. It's based on the true story of the first American B17 bomber plane crew's 25th and final mission over Germany in 1943.
Alyska hope you had a wonderful Christmas and amazing New Year's to amazing reaction videos to that your injoying is there chance you will try out God of War Ragnarok DLC Valhalla take care Alyska
new reaction!
Can you please react to the thriller movie Starring Patricia Arquette Oscar winner called Stigmata, please ❤😊❤
I love you
Yeah this movie sucked
This is the worst movie I’ve seen in a decade
In my country, the parliament wants to ban the film because of the explicit sexual scenes, nudity and sex, also the politicians in the parliament and the right-wing Republicans said that the explicit sexual scenes harm women and treat them as sexual objects
What do you think Alyska?
I hope to know your opinion and that you respond to the message please 🙏🏻🩷
I think the movie should have ended at the grave , I was really enjoying the movie until the sister died, even there discussion in the bath tub was amazing, but then just her dying started to ruin it for me, it didn't really feel necessary at all and the same with the ending with the Mum, that felt even more unnecessary. I would have preferred it to end at the grave or like a different ending where say he just moves into the house and stays with the family, maybe having a greater relationship with Venetia. The ending we got with him being a mastermind killer ruined it for me as the movie up until then seemed like a funny story of a great friendship, but instead it was potentially a killer mastermind plan to take over the families wealth. Or potentially this mastermind plan started when Felix 'disowned' Ollie for lying to him about his parents and what not, and Felix was kicking Ollie out the next day after the party, that's when Ollie decided to get some sort of 'revenge' of Felix, but regardless of when he came up with the plan to kill them and take their wealth, the ending just makes the whole of the movie until that point less enjoyable for me because everything I thought was funny and just what I though was happening in general, was actually not that. If I was to rewatch the movie again it wouldn't be the same or enjoyable as the first time I watched it as I would feel different knowing what Ollie does, knowing that was all an act. This ending really ruined it for me
This is on my list of things to see! Watch-a-long scheduled for this evening! Thanks! Happy New Year Alyce!!!🤗💜
The only good thing from this movie was reviving that song. Otherwise, it's nothing but a predictable cringe-pron movie LOL
Watch The Talented Mr Ripley. That has a good soundtrack.
Lmao! I could not believe she was doing this movie when I saw it. The reactions to the cringiest parts were so great! Thanks. ❤
alyska i'm not sure if you heard about this but remember when you used to play god of war ragnarok a long time ago ? well santa monica studio has made a DLC for it and it's free i swear it's really awesome you should consider playing it please
@@jacobde2000She completed that recently released DLC in full over on her Twitch channel (link in the description) not too long ago!
Please react to the fan film Clone Wars: Battle of the Heroes.
FYI Marmite is delicious.
24:30
and that effectively makes Venetia the only real victim of this whole thing.
everyone else? rightfully offed.
Ok I haven’t comment here for a long time so I hope you had a great Christmas and a happy new year, aylska!
Out of curiosity, what game are you looking forward to this year?
35:20 - The parents don't care about the cocaine. The implication is that Farleigh may have helped Felix overdose by accident.
Not So True. Oliver poisoned the drink with cocaine and gave it to Felix. Farleigh would never implicate things. Oliver made everyone and the audience to believe that Farleigh helped Felix overdose. His death so so sudden. Oliver is a devil that can bend everybody’s minds.
Excited for more UA-cam content this year! Thanks for the reaction!
I have no idea who this woman is but she seems way to innocent for this film
Get a grip
2:00 i need to go!
Happy New Year
Happy 2024🎉
