Rig Rundown - Tiny Moving Parts' Dylan Mattheisen
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 лют 2025
- Enthusiastic, nimble-fingered Dylan Mattheisen dances between technical mathcore and catchy rock with Teles and a trusty DL4.
On the heels of releasing their seventh album in September 2019, breathe, the rocking trio of guitarist/vocalist Dylan Mattheisen and brothers Bill and Matt Chevalier, on drums and bass respectively, rolled intro Nashville primed to share songs old and new with the Music City crowd at the Exit/In.
But before all that happened, PG’s Perry Bean chatted with Mattheisen about why he prefers mid-level Teles, how he developed his flashy technique, and the need for his constant pedal companion-the powerful Line 6 delay.

Fender needs to sponsor this dude! give him his own signature thinline!
They really do need to do a signature thinline for him, he actually did the commercial for I think the american ultra thinline
oh no its the performer
@@shreddcruztv6387 im pretty sure it was for the performer series
He'd probably still use his same guitar. It's become an extension of him and would be hard to change it! I agree with a signature Tele though!
So true. after I discovered TMP, I starting to love Tele with Humbuckers.
and a thousand half finished bedroom instragram riffs were born
This man r/emo's
Finished mine. Dont know what ur talking about
@@Insomnia_tic poser (jk props to you lol)
When he said he didnt use a compressor pedal I was SHOOKETH
That smile tho that can light up the entire universe
Thank you.
When it's not busy raping women
Dylan’s playing is the whole reason I ever picked up a guitar
Honestly same here
Pathetic
@@staylucky4727 how is it pathetic? Lol

When he started playing spit fountain I smiled, that was the first song I learned to play in that tuning and now I've almost abandoned standard
when did he played spit fountain?
@@justalex3209 4:57
SAME dude, i about cried when he played that, such a nostaglic amazing time for me.
LET ME TELL YOU WHAT I THINK ABOUT FROOOOOOG SPIT
im for it!
I never clicked so fast. Dylan changed the way I approach guitar, and having met him I can say he's a super genuine guy.
TMP one of the most underrated bands out there
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
in a math rock scene, definitely not, every math rock players know tmp
It’s criminal
@@imosyonmaybe not underrated everyone who knows tmp love them but quite underground
Love that he started playing alternate tuning's because of algernon. Such a great band. Spit fountain!
I discovered DAEAC#E in the same exact way, just being obsessed with the intro to Spit Fountain. Still my primary tuning today. Crazy how influential that song is.

@@iggystorm69 And The naked ladies shots me with The fish
Im discovering TMP late and been instantly drawn to his playing, mainly because of all the intricate riffs be plays but thanks to this vid I now understand that its the alternate tuning that also makes it stand out, and that middle pickup position on the thinline. Proof that you dont need loads of gear to sound out of this world, I put him in the same camp as Tom Morello in that respect. Dylan is a real guitar hero AND a great singer/songwriter.
Just the nicest guy around. My next tele will be in Surf Green for sure.
The host is awesome!! He knows his stuff, and the way talks to the players is like he could relate with them!! Also, it really helps that Dylab seems such a chill guy to hang out with :))
That Clouds Above my Head intro riff was beast mode
Me watching this video for the 57th time:
“Nice to see you all again”
His whole rig is so grimy. Definitely lived in.
I know this is old but I saw them live yesterday and he’s still running that same guitar
@@zachglisson Love to see it

algernon cadwallader!!!! dude yes.
@@staylucky4727 what’s your deal dude?
Talent and enthusiasm has resulted in the genius in this guy. Inspiring to pick up a guitar but could never imagine being this good! Much respect
He's not a genius. Far from it.

This is a must see band! I saw them last year in my home town and man what a great show these guys put on. From the music to the performance energy you can really see how passionate these guys are
8:46 that Minnesota accent coming out on the "I dooooohn't" lol
I figured out how to make that stutter effect on my own delay pedal because of these guys!
How did you able to make the stutter effect?😄
Stephen Lim I have the EHX Canyon delay and looper, one of the delays is called "sample and hold". I had trouble trying to figure it out but I eventually got it. My favourite song that has that effect is Dakota.
Sego 763 does he (or anyone else) do more with that effect? I just heard it and I’m hooked
@@peterw2880 IIRC on "Breathe Deep", before the final verse, the stutter slows down then speeds up, they've only played it live once but the effect is the "twist" option on the Boss DD-2 (I think it's that pedal I could be wrong). Definitely worth checking it out! If I could play it on guitar I would. It's also my first choice if I had the opportunity to play one song live haha
How do you do it on a DL4 IS what I'm trying to figure out
I love this dude sooo much.
When y'all showed his Mad Max nuclear fallout looking crusted over pedalboard for the first time I about croaked...then I saw the can of De-Oxit in the corner and it all made sense.
This pg dude is fun to watch. He really loves music, and gear and is able to connect with players.
I love tmp. One of my favorite rig rundowns. What a humble rad player
Still amazing that this guy doesn’t use a compressor.
Also, Tiny moving parts is the most accurate name for a band like this…
It’s like adhd rock.
omg when he mentioned his biggest influence was algernon cadwallader, that band is *chefs kiss*
I've seen a lot of interviews with Dylan but he sounds so Minnesotan in this one
I make sure to sing along to Meenesohtah with an extra thick Midwest accent whenever that song comes on
Whenever I leave the state, I unintentionally have a thick Minnesotan accent 🤣 proud to be born in the Midwest, especially the same state they're from, only like 2 hours away from me!
God Dylan Matheison and Tiny Moving Parts changed my life, same with Algernon Cadwallader! Love this scene to death.
I've been listening to tmp since around when this video was uploaded to youtube but this is my first time seeing the video. I'll have to check Algernon.
Angels and airwaves please !!
Great band. AND he’s a Steelers fan!!!!!
Love him even more now Go Steelers!
Please tell me y'all interviewed Standards also on this tour!!!
Did they tour with a band called 'Standards' ?
yep!
so stoked to see this, thank you!
Love the DL4..Im on my second. I still have an independent looper at the end of my board and a DD3 before the DL4 so I can stack delays or use one or the other.
YESSSS
"That rules. *fixes shirt*"

What a dope guy
This guy is literally a god
The blinking light in the corner makes me think i have a wanted level in GTA love Dylan tho man
Dylan listens to Algernon Cadwallader!! wicked!!
yes thats my boi dylan
His riffs are too hard for a pop punk song. 🤘
Perry you should do a rig rundown with American Football.
Very refreshing . Keep it up
Guys, please run audio through compressor on your videos... Difference between volume levels is terrible (
@PremierGuitar, I purchased a Mystery Stocking for my son this year, and the only item he had any use for (a Reverb LT-21) came broken in its box, the clip snapped off at the hinge. I sent an email to pg@premier.com but have not even gotten a response that you have received the message, so I also commented in this year's UA-cam announcement video. No response there as well. Does anyone here know who I should contact? $40 for a broken tuner and a number of promo picks, stickers, and a Koosie seems unreasonable. Will you please respond to my email or FB Messenger message on how to get a replacement tuner?
TMP and a „no stage Diving“ sign on the Wall... what a mess :(
Thank you for this!
This was amazing
wow who would've thought some dudes you partied with back in the day are getting a rig rundown
What was the riff he was playing to demonstrate the stuttering effect?
Just randomness. That’s not an official tmp song, but he uses it in lots of them
Is it not a song,m
his tone is super cool
the way he's moving his arms makes it look like hes playing expert double figures
Aye go steelers!
anyone who likes the Super Sonic amp, check out Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I have a 1x12 with a Jensen Speaker and I love it. Perfect for everything I play. Muddy and cleanest of cleans.
I wanted this video so bad
one if my first was a guy with a dl4 doing the dj thing
What the heck is that riff at the intro? Awesome.
It's from their song Clouds Above My Head
ALGERNON CADWALLADER

Really cool interviewer
What’s the band he mentioned after he mentioned Fall of Troy? 13:08
Tera Melos
Man, i need to find that amp somewhere 🙏😭
JUJUUUUUUUUU
The DL4 is modded by Ear Electronics out of MN. Rad company that makes rad shit!
Is he just noodling or playing an actual song in the intro? If so, does anybody know the name of the song?
The song is Clouds Above My Head by Tiny Moving Parts
The first one is called the Midwest sky of the album breath
Dude Dylan seems like the most modest coolest dude!

Wow... How does he tap so good without a compressor
I mean… those are excellent guitars plus his amp is a beast so the sound/tone comes out great like that and no need for compression live. He did say they use compression in their recordings though.
i learned how to use my dl4 thanks to dylan
@Dylan Gruenloh ahahaha
