It's hard to believe this was 14 years ago. I own a majority of your Blu-ray videos and I love that you are posting some of them on here. Your videos are by far the best quality and presentation of any rail fan videos that I have ever seen. Keep up the amazing work!
Stevens Pass home of Cascade Tunnel. To get trains through trains are staged at Scenic and at Berne and they have to go through one at a time every 15 minutes. The reason being is once a train goes through they have to purge the tunnel to get all the smoke out. At each bore is an intake pipe with giant fans located over the entrance. After the trains leave the doors on both sides of the mountain close and the signals turn red for 15 minutes while the smoke is pumped out. Once the smoke is clear they open the doors and let the trains through.
This is an awesome video for ambience in a home office work day. Always a nice view when I glance at the tablet screen. If you have a subwoofer, the low rumbling of the trains will make good use of it.
Thanks for the awesome video! I really appreciate your hard work in bringing us these beautiful scenes and it was cool to see all those Hanjin containers! 😊
it's fun watching trains on tracks i've been on lol.i still say the empire builder is the best amtrak route and to think this was all built by hand, just pick and shovels and blasting powder.
Welcome to Steven’s pass the most scenic part of the Washington State’s rails appropriately called the scenic subdivision Running from The City of Everett to the crew Change Point of Wenatchee See beautiful mountain scenery and see trains travel through the Cascade Tunnel the longest tunnel in The US This scenic line of The BNSF is filled with all sorts of traffic Heavy long intermodal trains traveling between Chicago Illinois & Tacoma Washington mixed manifest’s running between Everett & Spokane And Even Coal & Grain Trains are present as well Amtrak is also present with the empire builder running from Chicago Illinois To Seattle Washington So come and visit the most scenic line of the Pacific Northwest As we visit BNSF’s Steven’s Pass
Great quality even for 2010! This area is really nostalgic for me since my family has taken several vacations up the west side of the pass. Sadly, railfanning the line now is nowhere near as interesting as it used to be. No more manifests, just intermodals and empty unit trains; the Woodinville Sub is being torn out, the Snohomish lumber mill burned down, and the Winton woodchip facility stopped shipping by rail a long time ago. Thanks for archiving the Scenic Sub back when there was much more to see. Also, whose idea was it to send loaded grain trains over Stevens? IMO that shouldn't have been approved in the first place lol
Love the video, as others have said, hard to believe this was 14 years ago. I wonder what the people that built the Cascade tunnel would think abut the length and size of the machines that emerge from it today.
I wonder if this film crew was granted permission to be on the railroad property, I'm guessing not, especially would never allow to be so close. Wonder what BNSF officials would think if they see this
Some fantastic shooting locations, was permission granted by BNSF to film from these locations? (I guess the same question would apply for the UP videos as well)
Love your videos man, amazing history of the routes aswell as great narration. I have one question though, I plan to do videos similar to yours except way more in-depth covering basically every single operation that happens on said line and I was wondering, do you have any “tips” or “tricks” on how to make the videos so good? The other thing is what do you use to make your maps? Highly appreciate it if you’d give me some insight. Thanks
At 56:00 Each Car Weighs out at 110 Tonnes multiplied by 111 Cars that is 12,210 Tonnes. To put that in perspective if each each Train Car was loaded with wheat. that would make 3,666.6 loafs of bread per Car. That is 35 Loafs of Bread per Bushel(60 Pounds) of Wheat. That Train if loaded with Wheat would be able to produce 406,992.6 loafs of Bread.(if my Math is Right)
40:38 I don't advise anyone to cross the tracks to stand in this spot now. That entire area has multiple security cameras overlooking it and they're monitored from the dispatcher center in Ft. Worth.
In 2010 were the H2s the bane of existence the H3s have become today and we're H1s and exciting as they have become today because at this point seeing H1s is something maybe 1 to 3 times a month and H2s are becoming more rare on the Scenic subdivision also foreign power of the previously 7 class 1 railroads is difficult and anything else than that is insanely rare.

I can't believe it has been 14 years since I shot this.
Even tho these trains are 14 years old I still love 7idea productions trains they are truly awesome and I love all the beautiful scenery ☺️
Thank you!
I liked the amount of warbonnets units at the time this program was recorded, and also great mix of BNSF paint schemes there.
Some really beautiful country along that stretch of rails.
Just saw this video for the first time. A wonderful look through great videography at the entire Scenic Subdivision!
I always enjoy watching the trains in
this area of the US and there is a lot of beautiful scenery to look at thank you.
🇺🇲🚂🚃🚃🇺🇲
Beautiful photography and very well narrated
Thank you!
Ironically the first the time I visited Stevens.....2010. And still my #1 favorite mainline to visit.

43:32 WHAT A SHOT! Great view of a train in the Cascade Tunnel
Simply outstanding videography for being produced so long ago! This Stevens Pass video was absolutely amazing and well narrated!
Thanks Aaron for a very informative narrative 👏 😊
This is an awesome video for ambience in a home office work day. Always a nice view when I glance at the tablet screen. If you have a subwoofer, the low rumbling of the trains will make good use of it.
Appreciate the magnificent cinematography as always!
Definitely appreciate the commitment trackside to get this awesome footage to present to us! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Aaron Bentsen for another impressive and somehow relaxing video.
Nice. Your one hour video gave me the chills.
Thanks for the awesome video! I really appreciate your hard work in bringing us these beautiful scenes and it was cool to see all those Hanjin containers! 😊
Thank you for the great videos!

Wellington and the original route are part of the Iron Goat trail, a US Forest Service maintained trail.
wonderful work. you educate us with each video. Thanks
Cool another one!! Amazing

Before I realized how old this film was, I was thinking that the naration voice was a really refined AI voice! 😮
Been waiting anxiously for this one.
Cool stuff guys.
I always wanted to take this trip.
you should, totally worth it, =)
Diesels in the forest, their natural habitat!
Excellent video!! Would love to see some CSX Programs soon

2010 was an awesome year in Washington State. It was fun and scenic then. After 2020 everything changed and not for the better :(
I wonder if this film crew was granted permission to be on the railroad property, I'm guessing not, especially would never allow to be so close. Wonder what BNSF officials would think if they see this
Awesome video I subcribed!
Thank you!
In 2010, it would have been USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72).
Some fantastic shooting locations, was permission granted by BNSF to film from these locations? (I guess the same question would apply for the UP videos as well)
Curious to see @ "45:05" that the double stack seems to have cut notches out of the ceiling to fit through the Cascade Tunnel 🚦❤😊

What were the red ribons hangjng in each bottom 9:11 corner of the truck above the bogies, at 09.00 to 09.30.
Great landscape.
Thank's.

Would u be willing to do a few on a Norfolk Southern Line?
Do you have anything over Stampede Pass between Auburn and Pasco WA. The line is now all welded rail and eastbound empties only.
40:38 I don't advise anyone to cross the tracks to stand in this spot now. That entire area has multiple security cameras overlooking it and they're monitored from the dispatcher center in Ft. Worth.
Rarely see grainers any more, and I think I've seen 1 mid dpu in the last 4 years
Fantastic video, especially before thousands of GEVOs arrived at BNSF 🤢🤮

Also side question why was there so much CSX power
1:00:21 BNSF 1069. A guy in Minneapolis tried to change his name to that number back in the 1980’s. The judge threw it out. 😂😂😂
is the video 14 years old ? Looks new. Greetings from Germany
Thank you! Yes it is one of my earlier films from 2010.
Any shot of uploading the Rogers Pass tape?
Anyone know which aircraft carrier?
Does the flush cycle for the Cascade Tunnel occur after Amtrak #7 and westbound traffic clear the Cascade Tunnel?
They really did just *barely* make double stacks fit in the Cascade tunnel if the cuts into the tunnel mouth are anything to go off of jeez
😎😎😎
👍
Es ist mir schleierhaft, wie die Kupplungen solche Lasten aushalten ( wie bei 58:00 oder 1:00:00 ) .
That is because there is no clutch. Diesel engines power electric traction motors on the locomotive's axles.
@@7ideaproductions Hi, that's not what I mean. It only affects the couplings between the cars.
Naja immer halten sie diese ja auch nicht aus. Darum fährt ja auch ein Zugbegleiter mit. Dieser wechselt im falle einer zug trennung die entsprechende kupplung und es geht weiter. Nice to ho back in time to the days of very little graffiti vandalusm.
Funny how things have changed........no more wigwag lights or scare stripes.
Buy few baggage cars
