As good as the new GLA might be, it has entered a segment that it never mastered. So to see if it actually is worthy of the crown, we had to put it up against two of its main rivals, the Volvo XC40 and the Mini Countryman Cooper S. The GLA might be the least powerful but has the best interior and the strong badge value. But then, the Volvo has the size, features and exclusivity, and the Mini is just brimming with character. So it is anyone's match this.

You’re so right! In my third year of ownership of a Cooper Countryman with full Works package, including Works chassis and seats - this car brings a smile on my face on every drive. It’s just fantastic. Practicality with rear sliding seats, seats four 6 foot tall easy, with room for fifth.
It’s a sharp extremely well handling Swiss Army knife of a car. Buy it! - And make sure to get the Works chassis!
Check out the camera angle when they shot the back row space in mini vs how they shot it in the GLA and the XC40. They were deliberately trying to hide the appalling cramped back space in the Mini.
The mini is not cramped… it can fit four 6ft adults comfortably

I’d say the Mini is probably the best, the Volvo is lovely, but everyone says it’s dull to drive, comfortable and nothing more, plus it holds its value ludicrously well if your buying second hand it’s not cheap.
What is not cheap mini or Volvo?

@@nev7991 I still don't get it. What's wrong being a Chinese company? Not only Volvo, GE Appliances, Arc'teryx, Salomon, Hasselblad, F&P, Lotus... are all owned by us Chinese we should be proud of.
