I was somewhere between four and four-and-a-half when I got my twin sized bed. It was my first bed after the toddler bed.

This reminds me of how much I enjoyed helping my father build an old-style fence in the front yard like what they have at Old Sturbridge Village. This was when I first learned how to use a hammer and nails (with my father’s help). I was (I think) a year younger than Ezra at the time so I was fairly close to him in age back then.
My recollection of my age at the time could be off by as much as a year in either direction, though. I have a good memory for events but I sometimes need to ask my parents or my sister about when they happened.
It felt very good to help him with that project.

@@7Aheadfamily That reminds me maybe Ezra can begin to learn how to do outdoor projects like this. He is about the right age for it. Maybe start by getting him a toy toolkit with a plastic hammer, a plastic screwdriver, etc. at a toy store (or perhaps online) so he can first get a basic idea of what the tools do.
Don’t let the fact that Ezra has not finished his toilet training yet stop you from introducing him to activities like this. When I worked on that fence with my father I was still finishing my own toilet training. Working on an outdoor project with his father can be a good way for him to learn some new skills. Also if he does this without a diaper on and is well-fed and well-hydrated his father can watch for any pauses in the work and point out without any punishment or judgement if anything is happening (as it were) so that Ezra can become more aware of what his body is doing and what it looks and feels like when his body takes care of anything on its own (as it were). I was a bit of a late toilet trainer myself (I was almost in first grade before I was mostly daytime trained (even though I was already in underwear almost all the time by kindergarten)). In short my parents had to deal with at least a good year of accidents before I really started to get there during the day in any meaningful way. You’ll probably notice that Ezra will take at least that long but if you keep working on it and only put a diaper on him when it is absolutely necessary he should hopefully finish training in the next year or two.
Also you can probably keep Ezra in regular underwear on long car rides if you have him sit on some folded bath towels with something plastic underneath or an old sweatshirt with something plastic underneath. There will be some extra laundry for the next year or two but in the end it should eventually pay off.
You may also want to consider a toilet training watch for Ezra. These can remind him to use the toilet at certain preset intervals such as every 30 minutes,60 minutes,90 minutes,2 hours, or 3 hours. This could be useful if you can find one with either a replaceable battery or a rechargeable one with enough charge cycles over its lifetime. If this is not practical you may be able to install a free or cheap app on his iPad that can do the same thing if you have not already done this.
By the way as soon as Ezra starts feeling better you can reintroduce him to the toilet (if you haven’t already). Don’t worry; Even though Ezra seems to be taking a break from his toilet training while he is sick you won’t be starting over completely from scratch even if it looks that way at first. He will remember what to do again before too long (maybe even in the first one to two weeks after his toilet training resumes) I hope Ezra feels better soon.

It’s good that Simon already has his own bed. I went from a toddler bed (that was more like a large crib than a traditional bed) after I turned four and before I turned five to a twin size bed.
Now that Simon has a new bed this means he can get out of bed if he is thirsty during the night (for example). Maybe soon Simon will be ready for a new set of pajamas that he can take off by himself if he needs to. Also if he either learns how to take a diaper off and put it back on or wears something like a pullup at night the bed can be protected (especially if it has a mattress protector (I couldn’t tell if it has one in this video)) but he will still be able to use the toilet if he wakes up in time and if he wants to use it during the night. Three years old (or even the early (to mid?) fours) is a bit young for nighttime toilet training but it may not be to early to give him the choice if he (even just very occasionally) wakes up when he needs to “go”.
Also, I don’t know if Simon is afraid of the dark (I was especially around his age) but if he is a night light might help. This might also help with his night-time toilet training over the next couple of years or so.
It’s also good to see that Simon and Ezra both liked their surprises. I wasn’t sure what to expect. When I first got my twin size bed I eventually liked it but it took anywhere from a few nights to a week to get used to (if not a bit longer).

I love Simon's bed! I love Cars just like him and Ezra. Also a new vehicle episode from Be Calm on Ahway Island came out yesterday. It's called In A Fix. It's about Gabby the Flower Delivery Truck and her driver Jordan, delivering a bouquet of flowers to Teresa's house when suddenly, something unexpected happens when they are halfway to Teresa's house. See what happens in the episode when Simon and Ezra watch it during their naptime or bedtime, and please do a video of it. You never did my video, and I've been waiting weeks for it. Cool new big boy bed for Simon, I actually sleep in my first ever bed, purchased in 1982 by my parents because they needed the crib for my brother, and because I showed them that I could get out of it a few weeks earlier and that scared my parents, the bed is a full twin sized bed, made out of real wood, even as an adult, I have a toddler style side on it, I always felt safer with that and lots of kids with Autism could feel safer with that, if Simon doesn't sleep well consider just adding a toddler guard rail on the side, it won't stop him from getting out of bed, but would make him feel secure at night, I also sleep with extra weight on my feet and a few large comforters, one of my aunt used one of them during her pregnancy, its extra long and comfy.

I have to laugh when seen Ezra expression when seen he got Cars too. He was happy had no idea what to do with that, laid down and then was like everything was normal. (Yes it happens to me, thats why I noticed) When dad kept with the same question he was ignoring him like, yes I like it shup up, stop been so overlyexcited about it.(I feel that way too when people around me are like that and it makes no sense why they keep at it)
Simon on the other hand was happy but his entire attention was to the theme of the bed, Cars. So he just kept talking about it. When he is able to talk in more full sentences he's gonna annoy people with the same things over and over and over again 😊 ( Example at Christmas I got a Ken with a working radio that had the same music. I took that, not the Ken, with me to visit my grandfather and kept making my own music over and over again. There was other family memebers there too and they complained to my parents, so I was told but I would do it just not as much until it got taken away. Then I was bored.)
Sorry about the long post. Seeing their reactions and the constant question and reaction the rest of you have reminded me of the '🙄' ugh feeling I have always gotten in that same situation. My mom still does the same to me and I'm now 39.

    I have questions about Ezra.
    1) I remember you saying he struggles with coordination. does that mean he’s dyspraxic?
    2) why do you think Ezra has OCD? Is it because he is so particular about perfection?
    3) What’s wrong with him? (I am talking illness)
I also have a question about Simon. I know you said that Ezra has apraxia, does Simon have it too? cuz that might explain why he was or maybe still is a late talker.

First question he’s not officially diagnosed with that. Second question yes, he is very particular about organizing many things. ❤️. Third question. We are not sure what he is sick with, he has had a runny nose, fever, I believe he’s getting better now though thankfully ❤️

And the question with Simon, no, I don’t believe he has apraxia of speech. His speech is coming along,

Just curious, how many people like/d being ticked. I was traumatized by my dad who assumed my laughter meant I liked it. I worry about non-verbal kids being tickled.

That is true. We tried to look out for that for sure. One thing that we noticed is that Ezra’s will get jealous if he sees his dad, tickle Simon. So we figure that is a good sign that he likes to be tickled. He also will grab my hand after I have tickled him and put it back where I tickle him as if asking me to do that again. We are very aware that he can’t tell us how he feels so we try our best to interpret his behavior, the best we can.
