    It looks like Simon and Ezra both have pants with elastic waist bands. That should be good for helping to keep them potty trained as much as possible during the Summer.

    It’s good that this trampoline does not have any exposed springs. Springs can be quite sharp.
    A number of years back when I bought the second mattress for my bed (The original one had an issue where the springs were starting to come through.) I selected a foam mattress because there were no springs to worry about. With the waterproof mattress pad on and the fitted sheet on top of that it’s pretty comfortable even a number of years later.

    I was 9 when I first really learned how to ride my bike. My dad wasn’t doing well in training me because I was freaking out too much but my nanny got me riding my bike by myself at my cottage in the summer of 2015. We often go on family bike rides (me, my Dad and my brother and sometimes my mom) we got a tandem bike for free because the guy who was selling saw how much my brother enjoyed it. So I’m on my own bike and my dad and brother ride the tandem bike usually we cross the bridge to the other side of the river and ride there and then cross again and stop by a playground and then get Ice cream (and sometimes even super) and then we bike to the train station and take the train back and bike back to our house. The whole ride usually takes about 3 hours. We also have another longer bike route that’s more rural where we go all around the reservoir and end back where we started. Also my favourite things to do in the summer are going to my cottage, swimming in the lake, Riding my bike to the beach, visiting family as well as hanging out with friends, going to splash parks as well as other outdoor places.

    I learned how to ride a bike at age eight. It was the old kind with just the pedals. It didn’t have any motor or gears and for the first six months to a year it was difficult to pedal. On the upside it did seem to improve my leg strength a bit.

    If anyone doubts that Simon is on the spectrum the end of the video shows pretty clearly that he is.
    Hopefully you were able to do something with him afterwards to help him to feel better.
    Also, Simon seemed to have a little bit of a cough. He might have just swallowed wrong or he might be coming down with a cold (or something similar).
    Or he might have some seasonal allergies.

    • @7Aheadfamily
      @7Aheadfamily  4 місяці тому +1

      True. He has a difficult time with transitions. and his cough is better now thank you for your concern.

  • @thomasschoeck9080
    @thomasschoeck9080 4 місяці тому +1

    The play couch looks like fun.
    The only downside I can think of is that kids can sometimes forget to take breaks when they’re having that much fun. For a couple of years after I pretty much finished toilet training (even as late as age seven or so) my mother would need to keep an eye on me when I played in the sandbox, etc. to make sure that I took an occasional break.
    I was level two when I was younger (I’m level one now) so that was a pretty big issue for me (without going into too much detail). Simon is level one so it should be less of an issue for him than it was for me but it’s still something to be aware of.
    On a related note Ezra’s toilet training will almost certainly slide a bit during the Summer but no matter what don’t put him back in diapers during the day even if it seems easier at the time (aside from certain unusual situations like long road trips). In this fashion you should be able to continue his training even during the Summer. Just keep him in regular clothes, watch him while he plays (for example) and point out to him when anything is happening (without any punishment, commentary, or judgment) and he should get there eventually. This should work in combination with having him sit on the toilet after meals and snacks and other times off and on during the day and rewarding any successes that he does have.

    • @7Aheadfamily
      @7Aheadfamily  4 місяці тому +1

      Good to know. We may have to remind them to take breaks.

    In between Summertime activities you might also want to start working on tooth brushing and shoelace tying with Simon especially if you aren’t doing this already.

    • @7Aheadfamily

      @@7Aheadfamily Hello Holly! We got this lol! Also, both my husband and my grandfather recommended trying a new seat to feel more comfortable while riding. My grandfather owns an upholstery business and many of his clients has brought in their own bike seat to customize it to their liking. Adding more cushion to make it more firm or soft, depending on what you need.

    Simon is talking much better now. He is using some four (or five?) word phrases and some sentences. If he continues to progress like this he should eventually do well in kindergarten and then first grade.
    You might want to get him started with reading. Some of my first books when I was learning were Green Eggs and Ham, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Harry the Dirty Dog.

    • @7Aheadfamily
      @7Aheadfamily  4 місяці тому +2

      good ideas. We've got some of those books. He really likes books about animals. He is learning a lot from his speech therapy

    • @thomasschoeck9080
      @thomasschoeck9080 4 місяці тому

      @@7Aheadfamily Harry and the Lady Next Store was also good. He might also like that one.
      For me Harry the Dirty Dog was the most interesting of the two, though.
      I think there are some other books in the series but I have never read them.
      Also if he’s still interested in cars you could also get him some more books on that subject. If he learns enough about cars maybe he will be able to read the owner’s manual for a car like I could by about age nine or ten. Maybe he’ll be able to do that even earlier than I did.

    7 ahead - I'm A high school Junior almost a Senior this August & the social environment at my high school is toxic filled with ghetto / ratchet menacing students , teachers & administrators but its mainly because I live in Memphis TN which has severe crimes , violence & 99% rude people I'm surrounded by outside of school . I had a lot of meltdowns & sensory overloads at home due to family conflicts & in school because of the terrible environment mean people / unsupport I'm given when dealing with my anxiety from the administrators which who are also not understanding me at all . This makes me question why I was born in this corrupted world / society we live in . I will have my autism assessment sometime next month in June but I've always struggle with navigating through the evil in this world & the fact were living in the end times . What is your advice ?

      First of all, a big hug from all of us here at 7-Ahead. So sorry that people have been so mean. That is extremely difficult to deal with. Honestly, the thing that has got us through our tough times has always been our faith and belief in God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Happy to share more about that if you’d like, another book, I actually just listened to was this one here, and it’s a pretty good one as well. Ultimately you are a child of God with limitless potential, no matter what anyone else may say or think. Build your relationship with God, and he will guide you to overcome all obstacles that get thrown your way. ❤️❤️

    You know it's gonna be a great video when the 7-Ahead and Autism Family are together. Really enjoyed watching this. Awesome set up in the backyard, would love to try that out myself! (And can I just say, what a gorgeous view of the mountains you have?) Looks like you have a great summer ahead! Do your kids like to swim or going on water slides? It's my favorite physical activity whether it's summer or not, I just love being in the water and I know a lot of other autistic people feel the same so wanted to ask about you guys? Seems like Benson would enjoy diving boards, too, where he can do his flips etc...
    I agree with you that autistic kids tend to have more energy than neurotypical kids and need more outlets, but also from my own experience what sometimes looks like excess energy is the autistic person trying to regulate their sensory needs. So for me the keyword here that you used is "sensory play". We can be easily overwhelmed by sensory input of any kind but people tend to forget, we're also very sensory-seeking and sensory play is satisfying exactly that part of our brain. An autistic person is generally at their happiest when they can find a balance of not too much but also not too little sensory input. Simon looks so happy with the slime and it's my favorite, too! I will think about getting some of that for myself!
    I would love it if you guys could do a video explaining autism sensory input/processing/ sensory play in more detail and explain that we don't just get overloaded but also need and crave a certain level of input to be happy. It's all about balance!
