  • Im not the best at talking to a camera but I did my best to explain my wiring setup on the 6 cup workstation I built for my wife. This should help explain some of the questions and concerns you may have with building and wiring up your workstation. Any further questions please leave them in the comments below!

    I can't thank you enough. I've been fighting with an eight cup Turner for a month for my wife. Great video, and again THANKS!

    Thank you so much for sharing your idea with us. I myself was wondering how you connected the switch, motor and the cord. Thank you again. Awesome work station by the way.

    Thank you! Exactly what I needed. It was spread out and easily followed.

    Thanks so much for sharing. I have watched so many different videos, and this one is similar to what I had in mind....not adding additional wires, but tapping directly into the electrical cord that plugs in the wall. I am using wall type switches tho. I still can't wrap my mind around the wiring....

    @Mike Phillips I've gotten the supplies, but a couple of questions....
    1 - What size PVC pipe? It looked like 3/4"; 1/2 " looks small....
    2 - I bought a metal peg board workbench is that ok? I thought after a while the peg board would warp....
    3 - Did you make a tutorial on how to put it together (not the workbench part the PVC, wood, stainless steel Angle stuff).....
    Love this idea you came up with my husband even inherit a "She Shed" for me.....

    Mike, thanks so much for sharing this project. I am ordering the parts this week. I am pretty novice with electrical wiring, very basic knowledge. Can you please show or describe how you finished off the 6th motor and end of the black split plug? Thanks again!!

      imagine.that.by.sunny I am glad it could help! Just like motor 1-5 you just solder motor 6 to the end of the cord with the switch like I described in he video. I wish I could post another short video to elaborate

    Hi! Great video! How did you connect the motors to the pvc?

    • @Phillips942
      @Phillips942  5 років тому

      Koty Campo thanks! watch my other video you will see the brass attachment fittings that came with the motors. You will have to find something to attach the collets to the size PVC you are using.

    So, I wired 2 microwave motors to individual switches and then to one power source. I plugged in the power source and both motors started turning, but the individual switches were off... I thought it was weird, but maybe I somehow connected the switches upside down? So I flipped one switch "on" to see if it turned off the motor.... crack boom bang, flash of light, puff of smoke, burnt and melted wires... do you know what went wrong? Or could it be many things?

    Would this concept also work with a light switch as long as you still connect it to the power cord with an extra piece of electrical wire? If not can I have the link where you purchased the toggle switches? Also is there any reason why some of the cups turn in different directions?

    • @Phillips942
      @Phillips942  5 років тому

      Shelby Dodrill that’s how electricity works. One thing you should keep in mind is if the item you are trying to Power will work with direct 120 volts coming from the wall. The motors I use are rated to work off 120v AC.
      Regarding the motor rotation, you just turn it off and back on and it will rotate in the opposite direction. Hope this helps.
      I posted the links to the motors in the video 6 cup turner.

      Mike Phillips thank you for your help, I have decided to go with the toggle switches for ease, I have the same motors you have ordered so I hope it all turns out just as nicely!

      Mike Phillips my lamp cord wires ARE marked which is neutral, does it matter which I use for switches, and which are used for the motors

    • @Phillips942
      @Phillips942  5 років тому

      Shelby Dodrill nope! Just make sure it’s two wires and not three. I wouldn’t know what to do with a third one 😂😂 Only with DC (Direct Current) motors would you have to worry about Red/Black or Power/Ground.

      Mike Phillips 😂😂😂 definitely only 2 wires. Thank you so much for all your help!

    Do you have to solder the wires or can a wire nut work??

    • @Phillips942
      @Phillips942  5 років тому +1

      Hi Judy, I haven't used "wire nuts" before but if you are familiar with them and trust they will hold the wires together then sure I dont see why they wouldn't work!

      I was chatting with my cousin who is a electrician and he recommended to Solder due to the help with the conductivity ( I think that's the word he used lol)

      It's on Amazon, it was hard to see the picture with name of switches he used from last video so I found it from another video someone else posted.
      "Gardner Bender
