well, you forgot one part. Gul'dan did manage to escape the Tomb of Sargares, he made his way to an inn, and is now playing cards with all who would be challengers.
GOSH! Finally! Nobbel, please do more videos like this! I know WoD is very important but.. you know I really love how to storytell us these lores! Always rooting for you Nobbel!
Hello Nobbel, old player here coming back for the lore... Used to love your content and still do. Thank you for reading this, and thank you for endless hours of your time telling me everything I needed to know about my favourite game ever while I was boosting noobs and taking the views of Azeroth. Loktar ogar!
I am so glad I finally found a spoiler free lore video to watch. Don't take this wrong, I admire the work you have been doing for WoD, but I want to keep my experience in WoD as spoiler free as possible, so I have restrained myself from watching most of your videos in the past few months.
I wanna join The Iron horde. Think about it a Horde filled with Orc's never enslaved by the burning legion. Never under the leadership of Guldan and never had warlocks. That is the Horde i want to be in. FOR THE IRON HORDE!
That's why was first excited for expansion when saying that we're about to meet all the warlords and then.. wait we're gonna fight them all but durotan? Psychness got sucked right out
jesus, Gul'dan in my mind is the most evil of the villans, he not only wants to destroy but manipulate and use people for his own ends. like some of the craziest where leaving the war in search of power knowing full well they would lose, or the breeding programs, and other stuff O.O
Yeah, it's been a while since I've seen a great villain in WoW. That's why I hope that Gul'dan survives the events of WoD and finds out a way to travel to our present timeline somehow and start messing with things there.
It would make sense if it was just the Champions and the alliance. This is no longer so because of garrisons Will be giving Champions their own armys, so it would be very hard to give a reason gul'dan would survive
Gul'dan was not killed by Sargeras in the tombs as WIII says... He was murdered, judged by betrayal, after escaping the tombs, by Doomhammer's troops . This is also the main reason why the Horde didnt won the Great Second War... they were splitted in two big factions... guldan's ands doomhammer's forces. Seeing an opportunity on that, the Alliance striked first, before they could be restored after that rag-tag. And then the portal was destroyed only because that. Blizzard managed to erase an rewrite the true story of WarCraftII
Love your accent..;) And thanks for the explanation in the video that you made. I am a huge lore fan of WoW, Vanilla vet here. Looking forward to the new expansion!
He was, but he was also too passionate in my opinion. He is usually the guy in the shadows. The one that controls the situation, but is not right in the front. In the movie he was all like "You will obey me because Im powerful." Thats not how he usually goes. He is maybe one of the most powerful warlocks, but his best power is manipulation which goes along with clear mind. Not with this childish rage outbursts he showed in the movie. The CGI though was...
Im surprised this story wasn't on your list of the first must do lores but i am happy to know a bit more about the monster that gave illidan his demonic powers
Blizz confirmed that the actions of Gul'dan and the Legion will be high for the last patch of WoD. Which makes me think that Gul'dan has something to do with Grom being the boss of this xpac.
It was said that the encounter will have a heavy Legion influence. Personally, I hope Grommash is barely part of the final encounter - or at least give us a real reason to fight him. There's no reason for him to be the final boss, especially when we've had a year of Garrosh and Blizz said they weren't going to go that way.
Grommash will not be the final boss. He'll be a patch boss for sure but there's no way it'll be so simple. Even in BC they knew that just Illidan wasn't enough, so we had an invasion by Kiljaeden. All sorts of things could happen, an invasion on Azeroth by the Naga, Sylvanas going crazy, the evil under Tirisfall showing itself, the Bronze Dragons becoming infinite, the alternate timeline's legion invading in Alternate Draenor, something involving Wrathion. There's a lot of potential above just stopping the Iron Horde.
Kokainuser i think it would be cool if WoD Gul'dan somehow comes into posession of the Skull of Gul'dan from our timeline, and finds out about the Tomb of Sargeras. with the additional knowledge, this time he is able to get the eye and sieze power for himself
Gul'dan is my favorite warlord too especially for his warlock appearance. Will we get to see how he was contact by the burning legion in warlords of draenor as the timeline is different to the original time line where he took over Nerzul? And so you think we will see that it will be Archimond or Kiljaden that first contacted Gul'dan? Also, i may be so bold, is there any war gear similar to Gul'dan, like the skull spikes on his back or the chains on his robes? Also, i think you are an amazing lore-master or Lorewalker ^^ for warcraft
From what I know about the lore of WoW, let me list all the Human Kingdoms that I know of and try to provide lore on them. Warning, this could be a very long comment. Kingdom of Stormwind: The last standing human bastion of civilization. Home of the Alliance, where King Varian Wrynn leads the Alliance, with his son Anduin backing him up. The lore of Stormwind City is quite lengthy, you can find the information easily on the internet. Kingdom of Lordaeron: Former home of the Alliance of Lordaeron, now fallen into shambles because of Arthas Menethil's meddling. It is now the home of the Forsaken, where they skulk around in the dark and wet sewer system beneath the former capital city. Kingdom of Stromgarde: Technically part of the Kingdom of Lordaeron, but has fallen into disrepair due to bandits and marauders. This Kingdom used to oversee their land of Arathi Highlands and Hillsbrad Foothills. Kingdom of Gilneas: The Gilnean people walled themselves off from the rest of civilization due to the threat of the Plague spreading throughout northern Lordaeron during the 3rd war. The Greymane Wall was shattered during the Shattering (The Cataclysm) and the Feral Worgen that lived in Silverpine Forest flooded in and started the epidemic that turned Gilneans into Worgen. These are all the Kingdoms that I know of, however, there are still some important cities where Humans lived and were part of a Kingdom. These are: Stratholme City: Part of the Kingdom of Lordaeron. Stratholme was the first place where the Plague was documented to start, with the help of Mal'Ganis the Dreadlord. Arthas Menethil, who was trying to stop the Plague at the time, purged the city of all the sick and ill, before setting sail to Northrend to track down Mal'Ganis and finish the fight. Durnhold Keep: Part of the Kingdom of Stromgarde, Kingdom of Lordaeron. A place where Orcish prisoners were kept, awaiting execution. Thrall was being held here and with the help of the Bronze Dragonflight, you free Thrall, and help him continue on this way to become the Warchief of the Horde.
At 9:03 you say that the Orcs sacrificed a Draenei child. Do you have any source on that? It's not that I don't believe it, but I never heard it before :) And as a lore fanatic I can't stand not knowing details like that :p
Why though? Gul' Dan made Grommash, his clan, and the rest of the orcs his bitch. Conquered a planet. Is the most powerful warlock in existence. Grom has....a named axe.
Lillie Craft Yes it is irrelevant, since he was the first one to drink the blood and fuck his race in the first place. They wouldn't need saved if not for him.
At 12:28 you can see that Durotan and Drakka both didn't drink the demonblood since they're still orcish-brown. Then why does Thrall has the greenish tint?
It would be cool if the skull of Gul'dan had a similar effect to the Lich King's crown or even Frostmourne. When you have it in your possession you will here the whispers of the spirit within the object. Perhaps whoever has the skull of Gul'dan will here his whispers, creating a second lich king. Or something like that.
As i remember Guldan was in flesh and bones in forgotten islands, the last expansion of WoW. He even interracted with some important characters (spoilers off for readers) Did he came back from death not just as a spirit? what am i missing?
With the next expansion looming, rewatching some of this... _Whatever happened to Medivh?_ That's the last we've seen of Sargeras' soul. Maybe he possessed Med'an after that so we finally get to kill him!
Rey Arocha Or piratebay, I found them on there. But weather I downloaded it is another matter, illegal an all that stuff ya know. "inconspicuous eye roll"
Something that is not touched on here that is fairly important in defense of Ner'zhul; he was tricked. He had visions of his dead wife Rulkan, controlled by Kil'jaeden. He often communed with her prior to the arrival of Kil'jaeden's trickery. Seeing this vision, when visions of ancestors were typically trusted, Ner'zhul believed that combating the Dreanei was a correct action. He only learned of the deceit after it was too late. You can read about this in Rise of the Horde, by Christie Golden.
I still believe that despite what people are saying the gul'dan in the trailer IS our gul'dan as well as alternate timeline one because simply the timeline shifts AFTER they drank the fel blood
The Godlygamer no english is just not my primary language sorry if i offence you. but you are out of the topic. im just saying nobble do an awesome job ^.^
Hey Nobbel, what faction will you be playing this exp? Since it's Horde focused once again, I expect you'll be on Horde? I wish Alliance had such story lines.
Hey i realy like your videos and you make a good job. So i wanted to ask you if you can make a lore video about Rhonin because he is one of my favorites charakters together with Broxigar and Illidan. And maybe also a Lore video about the Ashbringer.
So even after death, Gul'dan can speak through his own skull... Does this mean he found a way to transcend the boundaries of mortality? I see this as a possible means of returning to the plane of the living for him.
I love these lore stories that you do. Do you know why the elder's on the wandering isles place there staffs into the ground creating a forest of staffs?
well, you forgot one part. Gul'dan did manage to escape the Tomb of Sargares, he made his way to an inn, and is now playing cards with all who would be challengers.
Same with illidan!
Extraordinary.
2:17 Guldan's spikes perfectly matched the background. Looks like guldan's thirst for power extends that of your video!
Those are the three thigns Gul'dan cares about: Power, more power, and screw whatever means it takes to get it.
duuuude wtf lol at 2:25 the spikes in the background line up perfectly with the spikes on gul'dan's back haha anyone else notice that?
MrTab001 lol
Huh pretty cool
I always felt that "darkness incarnate" part to be somewhat over the top. But since I saw the movie, I now understand. He really is ^^'
This is really well researched and put together. I like how you used different media to keep the visuals going. Overall, amazing video
"Okay a number 1 combo large, and what would you like on your burger sir?"
Gul'dan: "Everything."
here i am giggling to 6 year old wow lore comment :--D
One of the best parts of a Sunday. sitting down of a evening with a cup of tea loading a new video and hearing "Hello everyone"
2:17 my OCD is pleased that you matched the spikes in Gul'dan's picture with the ones in blade's edge
What an absolute perfect way of ending my evening! - WoW lore, BY NOBBEL, about what is probably one of my favorite characters :)
Omg pause video at 2:35 then look at the horns coming out of Gul' dan's back and look how great they match up with the background.
w t f...good eye you got there buddy
GOSH! Finally! Nobbel, please do more videos like this! I know WoD is very important but.. you know I really love how to storytell us these lores! Always rooting for you Nobbel!
gul'dan is not only my favorite warcraft character..but one of my favorite charaters from all media
He's my favorite HS character and I love him
Your lore is legend...I will enjoy changing it!
Damn you Kel'thuzad! We've killed you 3 times,STAY DEAD!
+Arthas Menethil Would have made more sense if I was still called Gul'dan.
It's fantastic that I can look back at videos this old with that quality, I hope this channel is still alive.
Love the lore, you cover alot of information. Gul'dan was purely greedy & he was his own undoing
I wanna join The Iron horde. Think about it a Horde filled with Orc's never enslaved by the burning legion. Never under the leadership of Guldan and never had warlocks. That is the Horde i want to be in. FOR THE IRON HORDE!
Also a horde a horde founded on manipulation by Garrosh in his desire to kill everyone on Azeroth because, like a child, he didn't get his own way.
Yea i would help him invade azeroth if I could IRON HORDE ALL THE WAY
That's why was first excited for expansion when saying that we're about to meet all the warlords and then.. wait we're gonna fight them all but durotan? Psychness got sucked right out
young6777 yep... flatten those innocents! IN THE NAME OF FUTILE REVENGE!
YUP for the IRON HORDE THE TRUE HORDE!
Wow, really well made video Nobbel, kudos!
jesus, Gul'dan in my mind is the most evil of the villans, he not only wants to destroy but manipulate and use people for his own ends. like some of the craziest where leaving the war in search of power knowing full well they would lose, or the breeding programs, and other stuff O.O
Cho gall is even more badass betraying even gul dan he is crazy
Dreadnought D He's not nearly as evil as Sargeras
Looks like you guys predicted Legion.
Another great video. Thank you for all the hard work and research you do to spread the lore of Warcraft, It is very much appreciated.
Activate subtitle (english),
Go to 9:57,
Laugh hard
+WiDOC Oh... my...
Gul'dan seems to go by Cool Dan xD
Love your accent..;) And thanks for the explanation in the video that you made. I am a huge lore fan of WoW, Vanilla vet here. Looking forward to the new expansion!
GUL DAN WAS SO BADASS IN THE FILM
ikr
He was, but he was also too passionate in my opinion. He is usually the guy in the shadows. The one that controls the situation, but is not right in the front. In the movie he was all like "You will obey me because Im powerful." Thats not how he usually goes. He is maybe one of the most powerful warlocks, but his best power is manipulation which goes along with clear mind. Not with this childish rage outbursts he showed in the movie.
The CGI though was...
He's a fucking dick with no honor
Yeah, that's Gul'Dan! He doesn't care about that kind of thing.
I am badass
And what, Nobbel, must we give in return for this video?
...everything.
...20 minutes of your day.
John Doe Your brain.
A like and subscribe...
This is not his destiny!
Im surprised this story wasn't on your list of the first must do lores but i am happy to know a bit more about the monster that gave illidan his demonic powers
Anyone else notice the conveniently placed spikes behind gul'dan's picture at 2:25 ?
Blizz confirmed that the actions of Gul'dan and the Legion will be high for the last patch of WoD. Which makes me think that Gul'dan has something to do with Grom being the boss of this xpac.

+Awkward Squirtle like in my other comment - whilst I hope he isn't the final encounter, Tom Chilton confirmed that he was.
Kokainuser Or, sadly, he will be, like Tom Chilton said in an interview.
Kokainuser
i think it would be cool if WoD Gul'dan somehow comes into posession of the Skull of Gul'dan from our timeline, and finds out about the Tomb of Sargeras. with the additional knowledge, this time he is able to get the eye and sieze power for himself
nobbel ur vids are too good to be true! keep up with the good quality! greetings from peru
15:34 to this day. i think that rune looks like the symbol on the door tot he woman's public bathrooms.
I've never subscribed to anything on youtube but your videos are just too good to miss...keep it up bro
Awesomely telled... Mad thumbs up! You have more lore storys? If not plz do some! Great!!
nice work, my favorite is Nerzhul, still cant wait to see what will happen with Guldan, he is beyond interesting and can do so much evil things.
ty for making the story of gul'dan i was waiting for it
My favorite characters in WOW are Medivh and Gul'dan, both awesome characters who changed the world(s) forever.
ah, a perfect bed time story :)
Ikr same
yeah too bad it's narrated like shit
you never had to listen... and no one cares about your opinion
Gul'dan is my favorite warlord too especially for his warlock appearance. yay more videos from Nobbel! my favorite History teacher xD
Could you do an Overview of the Human Kingdoms? Like talk about Kul Tiras and then Stormwind and so on? Please?
Sadly there is not much story behind most of them.
I know but it'd be awesome. Or maybe an overview of each factions as a whole, something like that.
pretty sure he talked about them in the story of warcraft (like 1 hour video)
Oh I know but more in depth rather then gloss over
From what I know about the lore of WoW, let me list all the Human Kingdoms that I know of and try to provide lore on them. Warning, this could be a very long comment.
Kingdom of Stormwind: The last standing human bastion of civilization. Home of the Alliance, where King Varian Wrynn leads the Alliance, with his son Anduin backing him up.

2:28, nice placement of Gul'dan, really works with the spires behind him ~xD.
I can't wait for the Warlords explanation. I also love your lore videos the lore is so interesting thanks for all of the informative videos
at 2:25 look at gul'dan spikes it matches perfectly with the background nice nobbel !!
Gul'dan is my FAVORITE villain of all time wow wouldn't be without him he is the start of wow
I absolutely love your vids, nobbel ! Don't stop making them ! You're amazing
thank u so much i really enjoy these series so much :D
At 9:03 you say that the Orcs sacrificed a Draenei child. Do you have any source on that? It's not that I don't believe it, but I never heard it before :)
And as a lore fanatic I can't stand not knowing details like that :p
Did you intentionally line up Gul'Dan's spikes with the background starting @2:17?
Nobbel: I might not be able to tell you everything
Gul'dan: EVERYTHING
Loved it.. I think all your vids are amazing Nobbel87
My favourite Warlord is actually Grommash Hellscream.
Same
Me2
Why though? Gul' Dan made Grommash, his clan, and the rest of the orcs his bitch. Conquered a planet. Is the most powerful warlock in existence. Grom has....a named axe.
Nekross
And the fact that he killed Mannoroth and saved the Orcs in Regin of Chaos is irrelevant right?
Lillie Craft Yes it is irrelevant, since he was the first one to drink the blood and fuck his race in the first place. They wouldn't need saved if not for him.
At 12:28 you can see that Durotan and Drakka both didn't drink the demonblood since they're still orcish-brown. Then why does Thrall has the greenish tint?
They became green by being near warlocks practising fel magic
Another great video, as usual Nobbel
2:45 gul'dan's back spikes are matching the spikes in the background
Is it just me or are the names incorrect at 11:38? Shouldn't be Llane and Varian, not Varian and Anduin?
It would be cool if the skull of Gul'dan had a similar effect to the Lich King's crown or even Frostmourne. When you have it in your possession you will here the whispers of the spirit within the object. Perhaps whoever has the skull of Gul'dan will here his whispers, creating a second lich king. Or something like that.
**hear
great video. great explanations.
Guys, is there a video in the channel for the story of Gul Dan during and after the WOD? Thank you
ua-cam.com/video/LX208g0W6i4/v-deo.html
As i remember Guldan was in flesh and bones in forgotten islands, the last expansion of WoW. He even interracted with some important characters (spoilers off for readers) Did he came back from death not just as a spirit? what am i missing?
Whooooo A REAL LORE VIDEO AGAIN!
Gul'dan was always my favorite character, my main is inspired by his power and his determination to make his mark on the world.
With the next expansion looming, rewatching some of this...
_Whatever happened to Medivh?_ That's the last we've seen of Sargeras' soul.
Maybe he possessed Med'an after that so we finally get to kill him!
This is f*cking awesome!
I waited for this, ty nobble
Gotta say i loved the way, that the art of Gul'dan lined up with the background @ 2:44
I don't even play WoW and love your lore videos.
Love watching your videos Nobbel. Where do those WoW comics come from that you use as slides?
The manga-like comics are from Udon.
Where can I download / read them?
Not sure, oddly enough I can't find the WoW 'mangas' in Udon's web store. Maybe the license expired? Try eBay.
Rey Arocha
Or piratebay, I found them on there. But weather I downloaded it is another matter, illegal an all that stuff ya know. "inconspicuous eye roll"
Bruno's Geek Reviews i found one at barnes and noble recently but otherwise it does look like they cant sell them on the Udon's web store
That snake photobomb tho at 9:03
Why is Thrall blue if his parents Kel'thuzad and Neltharion refused the blood of Hogger?
Because Kel'thuzad has been around Scourge magic, duh
I can't keep myself from repeating "Heeello everyone" with you everytime
2:42 lol the 'spikes' on gul' dan shoulders line up with the background
What graphic novel is the image at 1:59 from ?
Something that is not touched on here that is fairly important in defense of Ner'zhul; he was tricked. He had visions of his dead wife Rulkan, controlled by Kil'jaeden. He often communed with her prior to the arrival of Kil'jaeden's trickery. Seeing this vision, when visions of ancestors were typically trusted, Ner'zhul believed that combating the Dreanei was a correct action. He only learned of the deceit after it was too late. You can read about this in Rise of the Horde, by Christie Golden.
2:45 -did you make the image of gul'dan match the spires of stone in the background on purpose?
Yay a new lore video that doesn't have spoilers for WoD.
I still believe that despite what people are saying the gul'dan in the trailer IS our gul'dan as well as alternate timeline one because simply the timeline shifts AFTER they drank the fel blood
Omg thanks ur awesome im learning Everydays with ur video the lore of wow is totally fantastic
Apparently you aren't learning English.
dont have to speak correcly for understand. is awesome thank to him for is awesome video
The Godlygamer what's your problem?
The Godlygamer
A typical ignorant moron.
The Godlygamer no english is just not my primary language sorry if i offence you. but you are out of the topic. im just saying nobble do an awesome job ^.^
In the Garona/Lane scene (11:29 specifically) what was that PA mog?
Damn. These are so well made...
You know I just figured out something. Gul'dan is like the biblical Cain. That's why he's so interesting.
Gul'dan, the worst pitch man in orc history. "You'll gain super duper bad ass powers, for the low low cost of....EVERYTHING!!"
What's the name of the comic shown at 9:38 ???
Amazing job on the video man
I had to rewind coz I was reading the comments and this guy speaks so quick.
I'm mostly just a hearthstone player but I've always liked WOW lore.
Anyone else come here from the Warcraft movie?
Yup
...yup.
yup
YEP the only thing i didnt get was garona but now its clear
yup
I'm so glad that Nobbel's favorite warlord is Gul'dan. I love Gul'dan too! Long live the Shadow Council!
Hey Nobbel, what faction will you be playing this exp? Since it's Horde focused once again, I expect you'll be on Horde? I wish Alliance had such story lines.
No he's alliance gameplay.
ahm, just because we keep killing orcs it doesnt mean that its Horde based storyline.
Best voice for lore :D
Really good video Nobbel but could you make a lore video for Tirion or Antonidas? :-)
Love the new video nobbel!! Keep it up:D
I hope you will do the Story of Kel'Thuzad, since he is my favourite WoW Villain and Naxxramas is just incredibly cool :D
Damn informative video, thanks! subbed!
Gul'Dan is a cheater.
:(
yea but blizzard wont perma-ban him...hes too important in warcraft
no im not!
Gul 'dan You absorbed souls instead of actually fighting your enemies.
+Akalioun OFFICIAL im too lazy and old to fight
Hi Nobbel. I don't understand the similarities between Teron Gorefiend in The Black Temple and Gorefiend in Hellfire Citadel. Can you explain that? :D
So Gul"dan was very powerful himself. So I wonder what kind of powerful demons/guardians of the tomb actually killed him
sarageras is the destroyer of worlds
The final raid, could be if Guldan claimed the eye, it would be awesome.
4:51 Love that voice!!!
