It's one of my favorite locations in game. 3 raids, 4 dungeons, passage between two zones. If not for LFR, DF and other teleport mechanics, the place would be crawling with people day and night to this day. One of the jewels of mmo map design holding interest for multiple people across multiple levels.
Great vid my little one absolutely loves listening to the stories after she saw me watching one of them one day she's about 6 so she just thought of it like a bedtime story since then she's aways asks for a "dragon story" before bed
It's not the only time Ragnaros was accidentally summoned, actually. Thrall also summoned him when trying to commune with the elemental spirits about the disturbances in the land revolving around Hyjal and whatnot. You can see the exchange in the trailer for the Firelands patch. It seems that only powerful individuals who attempt to interact with the elements such as Dagran or Thrall, have a chance to summon a powerful entity like Ragnaros. I mean it's not that hard to consider when you think about how Rag reigns over the domain of fire, and as such is a very aggressive, volatile, and uncontainable being, like the majority of his minions & brethren. Speaking of which, there have been character sin the lore who are of lesser power than people like thrall, etc, but still powerful enough to summon a strong elemental that they could not contain. An example would be the goblin shaman, Initiate Goldmine and his fire elemental Magmatooth who went beserk and tried to kill him in Twilight Highlands. Hell, it doesn't just stop at elementals, it can happen when it comes to any sorcery that involves summoning big creatures. This also includes Warlocks who can summon creatures beyond their control, like when Wilfred Fizzlebang summoned Eredar Lord Jaraxxus, who then killed the little gnome for thinking that he could contain a demon of his magnitude
It was, unfortunately my guild never got to Ragnaros or Nefarian, we were too dumb and unorganized compared to the guilds that actually made it, but data was scarce and we were struggling with the methods.
@@FlowLikeWater429we were young. I didn’t hit max combat until my death knight. But I played since launch and had some pvp titles on my original warrior lol.
Nobbel I think you are overthinking the part about Morgan. 'Her land' could mean the land that is rightfully hers that should have been passed on to her by her ancestors, and 'her family' her ancestors. But of course you could be right that there are mysteries about this Morgan character, given she simply appeared and no explanation is given about presumably her outpost Morgan's Vigil in SE Burning Steppes.
Would have loved if you did this kind of video for every raid in game. It's kinda hard to get into the lore of the game at this point. I dont really know where to start as there is sooooo much information. I decided to go run all the old raids in order and read about them as i go and i must say it was pretty nice experience to go through BRD/Molten Core/Blackwing Lair and listen to you narrate the background story. Love your work
Thank you for your content, I was into WoW a while back but the lore confused me. Upon watching your video's on the characters as well as the Lore I now understand better and have essentially started from scratch so I can enjoy the game in it's entirety, one quest at a time :).
Just wanna thank u for ur wow Intel and in depth look. Totally enjoy the lore. Always have and finding u save me time and energy. Gonna listen to all u have to offer but u do a gr8 job in breaking down the lore.
Wow. This channel has all these videos about individual characters. That is all well and good. I just watched the one about the blood elf blood knight lady. Lady Liadrin. Yet it is really cool and refreshing to have a video about a location instead. it gives a broader view of things. Blackrock Mountain is the place Between the Searing Gorge and Burning Steppes zones. The mountain and zones are one of the most unique places in the whole game. It is very different to have someplace that is volcanic as opposed to the usual grasslands and forests that most zones have. Back in the day, that area was really high level. It was the latest levels of Vanilla, which was 50-60. Flying over it revealed a unique landscape with level ?? creatures. So there was a mystery that intrigued me. It makes sense for a low level Alliance player to go between the human and dwarf areas. The main way to go is by flying. So there is the mysterious area below. It got my interest. There us an idea that a well done setting is like a character itself. I think Azroth is probably a good exanple. Maybe each zone and dungeon could be its own character. When I think of Blackrock Mountain in terms of lore, I think of it as the ultamite place of the dwarves. The dwarves have a three way civil war. The Dark Iron Dwarves summon a fire elemental. Then the elemental turns the landscape into a volcano and surrounding volcanic landscape. I got to wonder whether Azeroth has plate tectonics. That is how volcanoes occur in the real world. There is a smaller volcanic area in Un Goro Crater. The Titans and Old gods are the major forces in that Southern Kalmidor area. Maybe they have to do with the volcanic area of Un Goro. This video does start with the story of the dwarves. Then there is so much other stuff. There is dragons. There is orcs. There is dragons going to the human zones and creating trouble. It is amazing all that goes into Blackrock mountain.
I´ve watched every Nobbel video of lore at least 3 times, even after reading the books and playing every expansion Nobbel´s are just so fun... wish he did more and more often
Regarding Morgan, perhaps when it says she lost her home and land, it meant the land and home she WOULD have had inherited if it hadn't been destroyed? Just a thought.
Love your videos, by far the best lore ones. I like to have them in the background while levelling alts. Please, please do The Story of Arthas, and Deathwing!
im sure it was tedious as hell, but seeing stuff like the marshal quest line and the other really makes me wish I got that far in classic WoW, makes me somewhat excited for the classic to come back
I have done WoD's upper Blackrock Spire and not once did i see a blue dragon come to aid us in the tharbek fight. I've only been playing the games for a short time now and your videos have helped me enjoy the games lore and what the game was like before the cataclysm. i came in around late cata early mop but never really porperly played till late mop early WoD. Next time in Upper Blackrock Ill try to look out the wee blue dragon you saved all those years ago in the Tharbek fight. like i said ive ran it a few time now and sadly not once seen Awbee
Molag Bal I play both the Horde and the Alliance, because some of the Alliance races I just love (dwarves and gnomes are great, I got a human priest because I like to RP as a Twilight Father sort of character, and a nelf druid because I just feel like they're the best race for druids) and I want to experience Ally storylines as well, but I just pref Horde stories, and I like pretty much every Horde race. Except Blood Elves. They can go back Ally.
Nobbel, i was wondering if you wanted to go into the minor storylines in the mountain, beacuse i think that they are pretty interesting, you can always just do alot or all of them in 1 video, this is just a request from a very excited viewer! have a good day! :)
I wish you a nice week, too Nobbel ^.^ great vid. I know a lot about lore know, but you're always able to surprise me with details like Morgan. I didn't remember her :D
that'd be so sick if by chance something happened in upcoming events that led to magni un-crystallizing in legion or any other future content that the dark iron dwarves became part of the alliance and got added as a playable race, or at least as an addition to the character selection making of dwarves.
+TheGnarrrrrrrr But you already can make a dark iron dwarf in the game and always have been able to. There are at least 3 different grey skin tones to choose from and a couple faces with red eyes. Also lorewise the dark iron has become more committed to the alliance then any other clan. The scenarios in MoP show varian asking for aid from the clans but both the wildhammer and bronzebeards refuse because they were afraid if they did the others would try to take over and only Moira came forth and committed her forces.
You stated that you cant get into every little detail about all the areas in Blackrock Mountain and said you would stick to the main story... Can you please do another video where you go into detail? I find your vids wildly entertaining
Slight spelling error in the description: "Blackrock Mountain has played a massive roll in the lore of Warcraft" should be role, not roll. Just thought I'd let you know :)
Nobbel, could you maybe do a brief history on every playable race? I know it'd be a lot of work and it's just a suggestion but I would really appreciate it. Thanks 😄
Hi there Nobbel! My question it's more a request for your opinion, let me explain the background of the question first. Kurdran Wildhammer was a part of the second war, and he was one of those that went everywhere just to kill some orcs, even beyond the Drak Portal, exactly as Khadgar, Turalyon and Alleria went. And since we don't know anything about Turalyon and Alleria yet, we have seen Khadgar and Kurdran make an appearance in World of Warcraft. Kurdran appeared in The Burning Crusade having his own stronghold in Shadowmoon Valley, and then in the novel Wolfheart, then he made an appearance in Cataclysm trying to get more of the Wildhammer dwarven clan into the alliance, and after that in the novel Tides of War, he was mentioned in a quest in Timeless Isle as a lore question about the name of his gryphon, but after that he basically dissapeared from the lore. Why do you think Blizzard didn't make use of this badass dwarf high thane which is such an important character lorewise when we talk about orc butt kicking (WoD) ?
An arcane expansion of her like (Morgan) may have expanded her life, that is a reasonable alternative to the theory, but then again, you could argue that, branching off to an older, different game..but its going somewhere, in Fable you had an entire town, who's residents had all been killed so quickly, that they didn't even know they were dead and walked round did things as normal, if there was a paranormal edge to it, i'd reckon that was Morgan's fate, that when the eruption formed Blackrock Mountain, she died so quickly, that she herself didn't know she was dead.
I love you lore videos, I quit playing when Kung Fu Panda was released and your videos game me back my love for the game so I went and tried WoD but quit after the opening fiasco.
Funny you made this after I been wondering lately, Has Burning Steppes ever had any life? I seen a lake in the mountains, Some burnt trees and what looks like around the area what could of been Water.
Wait burning steppes? Uh, I think I may have gotten a little bit confused here... let me go check Azeroth's map for a second. Ok nvm, I was confused there for a second but this is the full story. Basically, Redridge Mountains covered the areas of all 3 upper zones, alongside the still normal leveling area. When Blackrock erupted, Ragnaros unleashed a heat wave which burnt the mountains and formed the location where it currently stands as well as the Searing Gorge. (SG is basically just the other side of the mountain) and the area to the right of the gorge had bigger mountains so it wasn't scorched as badly but it turned into a half-desert. Sorry about not knowing many names of zones, I haven't played WoW in... oh god, its been half a year already *GASP*
Lord Kil'jaeden Lord Kil'jaeden i would like to ask you a question when will be your next move against Azeroth? Is it soon or it'll take a while? Your loyal minions awaits for your command!
Nobbel! 1st off I LOVE UR VIDS!... 2nd could u possibly do a lore vid on one of the following? : Gnomeragon, Vindicator Maraad, Deepholm, or Ashbringer. again I LOVE UR VIDS
On the Morgan's Militia theory... maybe it's just messy writing? She could have lost her great-grandparents to the event, and is somehow a noble or similar of the former region pre-destruction? So that now it's a story similar to a return of the heir?
"In time my son will rule the dark irons, and perhaps all of ironforge as well!" Well yeah... that is if your son ever grows up. That baby has been a toddler for... 8-9+ years now
Akama gives some quests once your garry is up than next time you see him is in nagrand as the ally equivalent of drekthar at the elemental plateau after that you see him when you help yrel become an exarch
What about the Blackrock Caverns of Cata? I know they're probably not of paramount importance to any of the main story archs but I figured you of all people, Nobble, could succeed in attaching a few lore-hooks to it all the same.
Hi Nobbel, I havent played wow since wotlk, can you tell me what abit more happend to the dark iron dwarfes after we killed thaurissan, why excatly moira came back and they were accepted in iron forge and why magni was turned into a crystal?
I watch these videos 2 to 3 times at least. Thank god nobble hasna good voice not one of those annoying ones that have a lisp or crackle of spit nor the strong t's or p's. Thank you for not being an annoying person
You know... Morgan (The very name the... Militia leader had) Is the name of a supposed witch who was immortalized through the... lets say absorption of the souls of children and other innocents.
Nobbel, who and what is Elizabeth Birdsong? She's walking around Stormwind and talks about not being of this world, why is she her and where is she from?
She is a reference to Elizabeth, the deuteragonist of the video game BioShock Infinite. Her last name is a reference to the Songbird, Elizabeth's robotic guardian in that game. wow.gamepedia.com/Elizabeth_Birdsong
So, at this point, after *all* these years, Blackrock Mountain has *finally* reached max capacity, right? With all the dungeons and raids, there's no more room to add *anything* new to this region... right? Or do you think we'll be returning to this location yet *again* in the near future.
Hey Nobbel, I've watched many of your videos, and I was wondering if you could do something on the Worgen. They appear to have some kind of history before Cataclysm, and I was curious as to what that could be
There are few coincidences in a fictional universe lol, like Hakkar the Hound Master from the war of the ancients was copied (for homage and respect to the badass nature of the name) for Hakkar the Soul Flayer, this was admitted but the writer of the War of the Ancients was cool with it. The Black Rock Mountain and the Black Rock Clan would seem to obvious to be not a coincidence that and the fact that the Black Rock orcs stayed in Black Rock Mountain, since the Black Rock Clan was written first (I think) it is safe to assume the Mountain was named after them, passively after them like the two Hakkar's, because it was a good name. Though, they could've called it red rock, obsidian rock, onyx rock or platinum rock but such that it was Black Rock. Actually this was a missed opportunity to call it Ragnarok Mountain.
It's one of my favorite locations in game. 3 raids, 4 dungeons, passage between two zones. "Ok, that's enough Lore of Warcraft for today, I need to sleep, school tomorrow... Oh look, a new Lore of Warcraft video!"
how do you accidentally summon an Elemental Lord.. :o
Clicking on the wrong button
When you try and plugg it in the USBport the wrong way. Thats how.
Lots of booze
when you add the banana instead of the water.
It's not the only time Ragnaros was accidentally summoned, actually. Thrall also summoned him when trying to commune with the elemental spirits about the disturbances in the land revolving around Hyjal and whatnot. You can see the exchange in the trailer for the Firelands patch.

Isn't atremedes, maloriak and nefarian's son?
Wow Jedi can you tell me plz the name of that raid ? I'm new to wow :)
Wow Jedi ah gotcha, in preach's vid he mentioned that atremedes was their offspring, just wondering if nobbel had a different take on it.
Wow Jedi thanks :)

"By Fire be PURGED!" and Lil'Rag popped up? Hah! Well done good sir. This pleases me!
Lol.
Fake confirmed.
Ragnaros the Firelord There's no difference in being summoned by a dwarf rather than a gnome ;D
Lord Jaraxxus The difference is by a few feet.
Ragnaros the Firelord Now all we need is Illidan Stormrage and it'll be a big reunion. Maybe add Nefarion too.

Morgan could also be descended from someone who lived in the area when the Dark Irons inadvertently called Rag to the Material Plane.
Gonna watch a marathon of these lore videos while server maintenance is happening
Also the stone for Black Rook Hold (during the War of the Ancients) was mined from the black rock area FYI

So you are replaying it like "Hello Hello Hello Hello Hello everyone" ?
Hey Nobbel. I think a cool video idea would be for what we know as the backstory of the Worgen and their starting zone.
Funny you made this after I been wondering lately, Has Burning Steppes ever had any life? I seen a lake in the mountains, Some burnt trees and what looks like around the area what could of been Water.
Burning Stepped and Blackrock were all part of Redridge before Ragnaros.
Joyde So it was a dry like land too? Interesting. What about searing gorge?
Wait burning steppes? Uh, I think I may have gotten a little bit confused here... let me go check Azeroth's map for a second.
Ok nvm, I was confused there for a second but this is the full story.

Magic
A wizard did it
Zoveel RrrRRRrrrrRrrRrRr dat ik het niet kan volhouden doorrr te luisteren
A large group of Human Males also had an idea of passing through Blackrock Mountain and throw a bracelet of power into the Cauldron of Searing Gorge.
I thought this idea for a great movie was about two gnomes who find a bracelet of power.
Good Loré telling as always!
Maybe you should ask about Morgan and the quest at the lore Q&A at Blizzcon this year :3
On the Morgan's Militia theory... maybe it's just messy writing? She could have lost her great-grandparents to the event, and is somehow a noble or similar of the former region pre-destruction? So that now it's a story similar to a return of the heir?
Ahh... The pronouncing of R's. Also great video, mate! Bit of an Dark Iron fanatic here.
amazing work nobbel greetings from denmark ;D
Great lore as always man. Any way we can get the background of that intro as a wallpaper? I love it.
"In time my son will rule the dark irons, and perhaps all of ironforge as well!"
Well yeah... that is if your son ever grows up. That baby has been a toddler for... 8-9+ years now
Right? should be like 14 now
Great video as always. I was wondering what is WoD Akama up to? I haven't been playing alliance, but I. Also haven't heard from /of him.
Akama gives some quests once your garry is up than next time you see him is in nagrand as the ally equivalent of drekthar at the elemental plateau after that you see him when you help yrel become an exarch
Can you do the Story of the Searing Gorge and Burning Steppes?
Blackrock Mountain belongs to the Dwarves
What about the Blackrock Caverns of Cata? I know they're probably not of paramount importance to any of the main story archs but I figured you of all people, Nobble, could succeed in attaching a few lore-hooks to it all the same.
Can you do the story behind Reginald Windsor and why he was respected so much ?
Hi Nobbel, I havent played wow since wotlk, can you tell me what abit more happend to the dark iron dwarfes after we killed thaurissan, why excatly moira came back and they were accepted in iron forge and why magni was turned into a crystal?
I watch these videos 2 to 3 times at least. Thank god nobble hasna good voice not one of those annoying ones that have a lisp or crackle of spit nor the strong t's or p's. Thank you for not being an annoying person
Man Thaurssian had a good life before we stepped in.
It was great to be able to watch this while I wait for BRM to open here :) Thanks Nobbel
Ty for this one!
Awesome lore! thanks!
You know... Morgan (The very name the... Militia leader had) Is the name of a supposed witch who was immortalized through the... lets say absorption of the souls of children and other innocents.
What happened to Modimus Anvilmar? How he passed away? How he died? In a battle or just sickness or something like that?
Nobbel, who and what is Elizabeth Birdsong? She's walking around Stormwind and talks about not being of this world, why is she her and where is she from?
She is a reference to Elizabeth, the deuteragonist of the video game BioShock Infinite. Her last name is a reference to the Songbird, Elizabeth's robotic guardian in that game. wow.gamepedia.com/Elizabeth_Birdsong
I was hoping it was a hint to a new expansion, where another world is brought into the fold. never mind, but thanks for the quick reply :)
you could have googled
So, at this point, after *all* these years, Blackrock Mountain has *finally* reached max capacity, right? With all the dungeons and raids, there's no more room to add *anything* new to this region... right? Or do you think we'll be returning to this location yet *again* in the near future.
Metzen will find a way
There is no physics in wow. Only Metzen
probably yea
I would love a Blackrock Mountain warfront on BfA
Nobbel at the end of the video you said you'd link the leeroy jenkins video, I know it isn't hard to find but still ;)
I love your Lore videos ^^
Oh Boy!
These Videos are awesome!
You forgot about Blackrock Descent. Also I lore-nerd squealed when I saw Arby there again.
Seriously, you have the best voice in the world
AHA! Finally i caught a glimpse of Rude Nobbel. At 18:58 he says "I hope you don't have a great week..."
BOOM! Evil Nobbel confirmed!
Hey Nobbel,
I've watched many of your videos, and I was wondering if you could do something on the Worgen. They appear to have some kind of history before Cataclysm, and I was curious as to what that could be
YOU ARE AWESOME!!!
Nothing like a bit of Nobbel in the morning!
You need more stories more often. :)
