My dad went to school with Volker Eloesser who is one of the founders of Nosotek. That's the same guy who made The Curse of Ra for the Amiga. Before that NK joint venture he had made millions from selling his mobile game company to Jamba in 2004 (which was then sold to Verisign and then to News Corp, which is why Nosotek got the Big Lebowski deal). In a recent interview he said that at the time no one of his NK staff was allowed internet access, only he as a Westerner would get modem access that even at the time (2008-10) was too slow to access larger websites. He also played several roles in NK movies because he was one of the few Westerners in the country at the time. He now owns a business that markets historic and retro window and door handles from Europe and Asia.
It's worth noting the original Wiimote itself didn't truly have a gyroscope and used an accelerometer instead. This was the reason for the introduction of the Wii Motion Plus accessory which added a gyroscope. Some Wiimotes made late in the console's life did come with Wii Motion Plus integrated into the unit. The Wii itself also used remarkably primitive hardware even for its time, having only 88 MB of RAM, a PowerPC CPU slightly upgraded from the GameCube's and only a 512 MB flash memory chip for storage. It was closer to the technology of the 6th gen than it was to the Xbox 360 and PS3 that it competed against. Still sold like hotcakes though.

Hold up, has Linus (or anyone at LTT for that matter) never used a Playstation EyeToy before? Because that "fruit ninja" knockoff gameplay was immediately recognisable as an EyeToy clone, which makes it doubly surprising considering Linus said he would be channelling Jackie Chan, and the most well known EyeToy game is probably the one where you fight ninjas. Like, I find it difficult to believe he wouldn't know about it, but that "It's like if the Kinect were shit" comment makes me feel like he thinks the Kinect was the first peripheral of its kind, and that's so far from the case.

It is only built in to have a webcam staring at you in your living room. Because a camera is a camera is a camera...
9:12 The Eyetoy games were a memorable part of my early PS2 days
I rarely hear of others having it, and it was so much fun
I put so many hours into the window washing and burger ones
@@scottg3192 my neighbor and I both had PS2s, but he always had the oddball titles. Same thing when we got PS3s
Yoooo, I wasnt the only one! That tower game was the shiiiiz😂
Easter Bunny @1:04 the green book in the background is authored by the North Korean leader Kim Jong Il. He had a weird obsession with cinema. Johnny Harris did a whole video on it,
I hate to admit, but that segway was brilliant. Also liked the little details. Great job Linus! (or the unsung hero who came up with the idea)
It's hard to believe that Eggman is also the bear from Squirrel and Hedgehog. How did Mike Pollock get involved?
So what we’ve learned is that Kim Jong Un is not a furry
小霸王 is a famous copycat game console brand in China.
1:09 you reminded me of MattKC's Pyongyang Racer walkthrough
I hope Matt watches this video
Yes! I was trying to think of where I had seen that game before!
The Kinect was actually super impressive tech. Turning video feeds of a person into a moving skeleton is insanely difficult and nothing else like it exists in the home market.
Gonna need a whole video about the Kinect to correct Tanners little blunder there.
This was a great episode! Very interesting and well done. I found this absolutely fascinating! More videos like this please!!!
i appreciate all the education here. very solid video guys!
Wake up ! This is communist propaganda!
every now and then LTT makes a banger of a video. thanks guys! this was fascinating
9:39 That Samsung Notification playing in the background while those two goofballs are playing a North Korean console got me rolling.
13:32 Gotta love how locked in Linus was at North Korean Ping Pong
I kinda wish this video went more into the hardware, or at least the outside design of the console.. like the different button layout to the Wii only being hinted at and not showcased
15:28 my wife's waters broke at this point. 7.5 hours later I have a baby daughter!
Ancient Android processor using an old fork of Android made for Asia market with a camera and a kind sort wii remote that is really a mouse? I was impressed it was that advanced as in usable lol goes to show Android is truly a hyper flexible platform.
Great job with the research on this one, Tanner!
I must say that the Family console had a lot of success in Argentina in 90's, it was very rare to find someone with a Snes.
Later the star console was Sega Genesis and later the PS (by the 2000's)
4:07 So literally exactly like Wii Sports Bowling
Did you try checking out on a double/triple on that darts game?
Tanner's been talking about it on floatplane:
*Yup. It still just says I didn't get the correct amount of points. I spent a solid 45 minutes during the April Fools shoot trying to figure out what I had to do to finish the game.*
If you die in game, you also die in reality
only if you spoke the wrong words in front of that built-in camera.
@@cyberyogicowindler2448 already got built in 9mm
21:06 You absolute losers with that segue at the end. LOL
I love the nod to the “interview”. Well cultured man right here
Finally a Hetzner sponsor, love that company
Kinect is the most recognizeable name, and is well know for being shit.
If he said "it's like if the Sega Activator was shit" only like 3 people would know what he was talking about lol
Linus isn't a big console gamer. He's mentioned playing Wii Bowling with his older relations and he has a Switch (and maybe an X-Box).
El doblaje se agradece pero....
The new best seller: One Night at Kim Jong Un’s 💀💀
10:07 That is just Eyetoy for the Playstation 2. I remember you could put your own face into one of the games.
11:25 sounds exactly like the 'WAOW' from Chris Sawyer's locomotion and it gave me heckin nostalgia
MattKC play that pyongyang
2:33 *you're
Sabes es horrible la i.a. en español, tuve que ponerle en audio en inglés 😅
Just noticed they brought back the intro, I like it
gotta say the history bits on tech are REALLY fun. the console rating video, and now this one diving into history, very cool to see where modern tech actually came from
0:06 wii got them?
0:50 WAIT YOU STILL USE THESE INTROS?
I hope they keep using them
Hmmm, not sure about that one
This video is missing some AAA titles:
- Starving Simulator
- Pray for the Great Leader
- SimPyongyang 2000 Deluxe
- WAR Digital Deluxe Edition (there is no game over, North Korea always wins),
- Concentration Camp Tycoon
- Age of Great Leaders
- Leisure Suit Jong un
I got that “same, same, but different” nice one.
