I got my Wii apart following your directions. Worked very well to do that. I discovered in the process that my Wii has bigger problems than just dust. Turns out that the motherboard is fried too. It was still educational to take it apart and see what all is inside.

Used this video to swap the shell of my black wii without Gamecube ports onto an older white wii. Now I have the best of both worlds; a blacked out wii with the logos displayed for horizontal orientation WITH gamecube controller ports AND memory card support. The in-depth tear down is much appreciated!!

I really have to do this at some point. My eject button has been broken for over a decade at this point and only works if I wiggle it, so maybe I could fix that as well at some point in the future.

It's full of lint and dust (And some tiny bugs, i don't know why) and I paid 10 bucks for the console and the cables. Your tutorial helped me to clean the Wii!! I used this to take apart the old family wii from a decade ago and clean it out. It was sitting in the attic for a long time and it was full of dust. When I finally plugged it in, I realized the controller was busted and all the old disks as well. I can't believe mario still goes for $60.,,
@@izakomandaz2895 you can mod to run emulators of a sd or usb. You can also backup games. its easy give it the old youtube search and youll find lots of tutorials. I modded a wii i found on the trash and gave a second life

@@nintendonintendont it was alright, kinda sketchy tho since i got a cheap one off aliexpress so assembling it was a pain in the ass, also BE CAREFUL WITH THE BLACK AND RED WIRES IN THE FRONT PLATE, i had to solder them back on like 3 times cuz they kept coming off
super confused mine didn't have a piece of metal under the black plastic at 4:30, maybe it was a mistake or some models tried to cut some of the costs? Also missing this piece at 5:40. Theres no signs this wii has ever been opened up, unless the last person was extremely careful with the rubber pieces.
I got to the stage where you took out the 4 screws that held down some plastic and aluminium. Unfortunately the 2 right screws were not turning at all and ended become unthreaded. So I pose a question; What do you do when screws particularly small fiddly ones become thread bare? is there anyway to get them out still or are the destined to remain where they are for eternity?

My homebrewed Wii all the sudden decided to stop working today. I pushed the power button and it turned green, but that was it. No display or audio came through, the disc drive didn’t even try to read the disc and never turned on, and the Wiimote can’t even connect. I have priiloader installed, but I can’t even load THAT even with the power button/reset button method. It was working perfectly last night. The only thing I installed yesterday was CTGP, which had been sitting on my SD card for quite a while. There was an hour worth of updates that had to install, but I’ve never had trouble with CTGP at all on my other Wii. I’ve tried switching different cords/TVs/Power Cords, nothing is helping. Any help would be appreciated. Hoping this isn’t a permanent brick and can be fixed somehow.
I opened up my never opened wii, and found a popcorn kernal inside the front face in a spot impossible to get there. It looks like its from 2006. Someone at nintendo's manufactoring plant must have been eating pop corn on the job.

Update i installed it and it looks great!!! just the process was annoying as i got the case from aliexpress so it wasnt the best to work with but in the end it still worked out!!

i picked up a wii from goodwill for 12 dollars. No cables or anything came with it so not even sure if it works. But it was NASTY dirty, and wanted to open it up and clean the inside as there may have been.. critters.. as I found a bug's leg on the outer casing (disgusting, i know). So before I even put more money into getting the appropriate cables.. wanted to take a look and clean it.. not sure if my order of operations makes sense. anyway, this is definitely going to be a job with all these screws but nonetheless, good practice anyway :) thank you for this

i know this is a year old video, but I've got a question. my tweezers slipped disconnecting the led wires taking the front face plate off and snapped the two little wires right at the connector. how should I fix that? strip the wires and connect them to the pins somehow? get another micro connector (no idea how to go about that) and strip/connect the wii wires to the new one and plug in?
My little brother stuffed 3 discs into the Wii two years ago and it won't read the discs anymore, so HOPEFULLY I'll be able to fix it somehow through taking it apart

@@OhiosJesus holes, where all the tiny screws go on various places around the Nintendo Wii internals. Must be at least 15 to keep track of.

I have to disassemble my wii cause I got something stuck inside the disc drive. My wii is old and will probable be dusty inside.
I just got wii on ebay for $15 just opened it and a gc disc inside. They said disc drive wasn't working. A washer fell out and idk where it went

just refurbished my old Wii that was in about the same condition as the one u did and ur guide was perfect

you should grab an ifixit kit they’re a little expensive but well worth it they’ve got a buncha tri wings and they’re overall really nice

Where can i find the knife you used in the video (where you were removing the stickers of the Wii)
It is a basic Xacto knife. You can find a similar version at any craft store, occasionally at Walmart or Target in the craft section.

What size screw driver do you need to use
So it's disassembled now, but why did you need to speed up the reassembly? I can't keep up even with x0.25 speed.

My little brother stuffed 3 discs into the Wii two years ago and it won't read the discs anymore, so HOPEFULLY I'll be able to fix it somehow through taking it apart
Would be cool for you to put it back together at normal speed -_-
