Great Video 35 yr Subaru tech Never had this happen Thanks for Video
Definitely helpful. Been struggling with my 04 WRX and this gives me more insight of what could be the issue. 🙏
Glad it helped!
Clutch pedal going all the way to the floor and not engaging master cylinder?
Ben Davis work shirt is fire!
Thank you much brother
Dude youre great! Hope you make more sti vids
I messed up the clutch adjustment under the throttle pedal and have been trying to get it right. My adjustment was causing the slave to over extent and failed on me :/
Thanks for the kind words. Hopefully more Subaru content to come!
I was thinking about replacing the clutch line to SS, now I’m having second thoughts lol
Btw I love the pointer I think I might need to buy one
Do it!!!!
Hell yeah 🤘🏼
Do I place the cap back on while pumping?
The clutch pedal linkage on top of the throttle pedal could also be the cause of the lack of pressure due to not being adjusted to a new clutch system.
Good point. Thanks!
Hydraulic clutch is self adjusting. .What are you talking about?? Do you adjust the brake master when you put new pads on?
@@lard1892 To compensate for many factors including flywheel step height, you may need to adjust the clutch master rod length or shim the pivot ball

Did you try using pressure bleeder.
interesting. I usually pull a small vacuum on the bleeder on 240sx and non-sti, then open the bleeder. The sti must be complicated, so now i'm curious..
Vacuum bleeder or two man usually does the job. My good friends at a Subaru Specialty shop told me about this issue. Subaru Specific.
Lol u need a numatic bleeder . It actually pumps fluid into the clutch and air out.
Pressure bleeder would overcome the air pocket in the master too.
Love the video, replaced all three at once and tried this, but it didn't work. bought the vacuum pump and tried that way, and the same results, went back to your way, and the car will drive if in gear, try to start the car, and it lurches forward, I cannot get the clutch to engage, I have already gone through 16 oz of DOT3 trying to get this done. please advise. Thanks
All I did to remove the air was use a crescent wrench on the lever the slave touches as i bled it , so it removes the little air pocket between the bleed nipple and in the slave piston, a power bleeder on very low pressure reduces the need for anyone pressing the peddle,
No big C clamps or extra sockets required, fit to car then bleed,
Peddle not returning is a key sign of a bad clutch slave .
I did it the same and was able to get a continuous stream of fluid (without air) from the slaves bleeder. However I still cannot get anything out of the master cylinder bleeder. No air, no fluid, nothing. Any thoughts?
Bad master. Replace the whole system: master, slave, and line.
Just bought my 2013 WRX STI car runs awsome, then while I was driving it. I was at a traffic stop light in neutral, then took off kinda quick in 1st,2nd,3rd then 4th. However the clutch went to the floor and I couldn't shift gears, lucky I could coast into a parking lot. I managed get the car into neutral. Clutch master cylinder is full with a brownish tint. No leaks I've noticed. Can it be that the master and slave cylinder just failed without leaking?
Yes, the seals can also fail internally
@CMAutohaus Thank You for letting me know. I will replace both parts, the master clutch cylinder and clutch slave cylinder in order to cover them both. I didn't know that could happen. Really Appreciate your help. 👍🏾
What if I don’t have a bleeder on my master cylinder can I use the bleeder on the slave?
Yes, you would use the bleeder on the slave only
Did you have a bleeder open on the slave while you bleeding out the master cylinder?
No. I bled each section seperatly. While bleeding the master, all other bleeders were closed
@@CMAutohaus I trying to bleed out that damn thing about week without success so i hope this will work, Thanks for answer
do you have to remove the TMIC?
yes
Jjjjjeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzz I’m having issues with my sti new slave and the pedal will come up halfway the pop up so I’ll try this tomorrow cause my car will barely go into gear.
Hope you fix it!
Is that the same for a 2003 Baja?
For 6 speed transmission only. Bleed a 5speed as normal
Does this apply to all wrx's
All 6 speed cars with the pull style clutch
Per manual you only pump fluid out of the slave cylinder
For the 5 speed WRX yes. For the 6 speed STi you perform the more complicated process outlined in this video.
in my experience most of these cars don't even come with a bleeder on the master, the replacement one I bought for mine did though
Looks like a pain compare to other cars lol. I’ll let a shop do it.
Ditto. It is a headache.
No vice needed. Let gravity do the work.
Just use a turkey baster and clean the container with a cloth using a flat head. Top it off after, lol.
That doesnt bleed the system of air or remove old brake fluid from the exisitng system.
That also wont work if the system have been opened
