Hi everyone! Normally a sun dodger, I was outside from 9-5 yesterday doing gardening & yard work. I wore & constantly reapplied broad spectrum 50+ sunscreens, also foundation. I wore covered clothing, hat, sunglasses & gardening gloves. I used my huge wheelie bin as a source of shade. It was a sunny spring day. I am pleased to announce that my skin shows no sign of being in the sun at all! l and the garden looks so much better. I lost a few kilograms too! I used rhe Cancer Council sunscreen on my face and just an Aldi one on my neck & ears. I also used it on my body before I put on my long sleeved, high neck top. I wore jeans & Ugg boots, so my legs & feet didn't need sunscreen. I wear sunscreen 365 days of the year. I have pale skin & green eyes, btw. No mosquitoes so far thank goodness! I have my hydrocolloid patches ready though 👱🏻♀️❤️
TBH, I haven't found any sunscreen including mineral sunscreen that doesn't sting my eyes a little. Some more than others, but I still feel the sting. I also am discovering that I don't care for the tinted sunscreens for daily use. If I were going to apply some makeup, which for me is rarer than seeing a lunar eclipse, then I would probably use the tinted sunscreen as my foundation. But otherwise, I prefer no tint. Have any of you sensitive eyed ladies out there found your "perfect" sunscreen that doesn't sting your eyes? Recommends appreciated!😊
@@notapplicable9970 Try applying a fragrance free SPF 50+ lip balm around your eyes instead as it doesn't run like options & creams. I hope this helps. Btw, I used the Cancer Council (Dewy Finish) without any stinging, but with a primer, and an SPF foundation & concealer on top. 👱🏻♀️❤️

Enjoyed this. I always love to see what sunscreens you're using. I have the Banana Boat sunscreen and like it. Happy Monday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a tranquil evening. 💖
I can't get enough of that Banana Boat vitamins sunscreen. It smells so good and citrusy, doesn't leave a white cast, and doesn't burn around the eyes. Very affordable. A perfect sunscreen.
For other ultra frugal types: i used the dollar tree sun basics chemical sunscreen daily since june and i am extremely happy with it. Dr Dray hasnt tried it but checked the inkey & said 👍. The formula does well for face & chest, as well as body, it's quite light so i use a Gold Bond cream over it, but i have extremely dry skin so i never wear just 1 lotion. I've always reapplied when outdoors all day, but with spf setting sprays or day lotion w spf, which arent the bestest methods, and still had excellent protection. No sunburns, no new spots. I also use alpha arbutin and vit c, but as a basic sunscreen, these sun basics' options are great. All appear to be same formula, other than 30 vs 50. Sport and baby have same inkey as regular. I bought enough to last til next may with a few to share at outdoor events (for work). The only time i had eye stinging was when the fire smoke in air was at its peak and eyes get very sensitive. I keep a mineral option on hand for those times or when i want a more matte finish specifically, but 99% of the time, i use these! They are 3 oz which is decent for a face sunscreen, they last me 30 days in summer, but will last longer as i stop needing to cover my arms and shoulders. I use heavy application of spray spf elsewhere, gotta use it up lol!
Good to know that the Sun Basics is a good option. I impulse bought the SPF 50 Kids version from my local Dollar Tree but was hesitant to use it because I figured it might not have good UVA coverage (I have a dark skin tone but also use Vit C). Will start using it.
Why use gold bond on top? You’re wiping away the spf? Do you mean you Use the gold bond underneath and spf on top. Also how’s the cast on them? I think the issue is they contain fragrance no?
I didn't like the Kroger Shimmer Sunscreen at first and gave it away - but I really missed the healthy sheen it gave my skin so bought another one. I have no issues as long as I layer it over another sunscreen and blot to remove the excess shine. 👍 😎
I am very new to skincare and hate to say this, but have neglected my skin for years. Getting older, started looking at skin care recently and came across this channel. It blows my mind how much I could have done for myself over the years, but didn’t. I have a very mild case of rosacea and have been using CeraVe a.m. for a while. I wasn’t using it for sunscreen per se, just for moisturizer in the morning. I don’t think I gave it much thought when I picked it. They had an a.m. version and a p.m. version at the store, which seemed easy enough, so I bought both. The a.m. one does sting for a bit and my rosacea is not improving nor getting worse with it. I have no reaction to p.m. one. I think I just accepted the stinging as something related to my skin that I have to deal with. I am now wondering if I should try a different moisturizer/sunscreen. Any recommendations for rosacea skin?
Look up the Oat Gel Moisturizer from Aveeno, or their Calm & Restore, or their Redness Relief products or just their oat Gel products in general. You'll find the dermatologists on UA-cam love them for a reason. Soft, easy on the skin and calm my own rosacea. The sunscreen I use is the tinted Flex Sunscreen from Color Science for my face, and the Bondi Sands sunscreen for my body. It's been my final/holy grail routine for a long time now.
Dr drayyyy. My only HG is sunscreen lol. Paulas choice resist in royal blue w spf 50! No more poressss. Ive never seen u talk about that one, only light blue tint
I found the Eucerin discounted at my Target and tried it and really love it for my body. I just can use so very few chemical sunscreens on my face because most irritate my eyes - but weirdly enough, the Kroger "glowscreen" dupe does not and i've been using it all summer.
Very good video Dr Dray! Could I ask you to do a video on localised scleroderma? I've had this condition since I was a child, and I'd like to know more about it. I went to a dermatologist recently, and was told that I can expect signs of aging to appear earlier in me due to the fact that I overproduce a type of collagen that competes with the "good one". Is this true, or is the doctor just trying to sell me treatments? If you can, thumbs up this comment so that Dr Dray sees it :) !
Me too! My girlfriend also has this condition, it would be great to have a video to learn more about any tips from you. Any products you recommend as gifts?
Can you do a video of sunscreen recommendations for teenagers. Since teens don’t typically like the feeling of wearing sunscreen I’d love to see a video on lightweight affordable sunscreens for teenagers. Some tinted ones and light weight affordable sunscreens.
I absolutely love Trader Joe’s sunscreen. Don’t get to a Trader Joe’s very often, so last weekend I stocked up with four bottles. They don’t expire until July 2025,. So I’m good until my next trip! Only $8.99.
Always love these videos where you have all your all-time favorite sunscreens in one lineup! My all-time faves right now are (not presented in any order): DRMTLGY Universal Tint; Australian Gold Tinted Face sunscreen (I have oily skin, so I love the mattifying effect); ISDN tinted sunscreen; Hada Labo UV Perfect Gel (still the only one I can ALWAYS use around the eyes); Bondi Sands sunscreen (love both the Face and Body ones; I take the Face with me when I travel and use it on the body as well; it's oily, but otherwise amazing); Eucerin Body Cream SPF 30 (which I wear first thing in the morning, under clothes, fall-to-early spring), Sun Bum lip mineral sunscreen (which I use both on the lips and around the eyes), Sun Bum tinted sunscreen (which I use in lieu of lipstick), and Cerave Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion (which I wear mostly in winter when I'm not leaving the house). I also quite like the SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella sun serum, the Isntree Hyaluronic Watery Sun Gel, and the Neutrogena Invisible Daily (tinted; though I'd like it better if it didn't sting the eyes).
I love isntree’s collab with Cassandra Bankson- onion newpair 40+ PA. It’s cosmetically beautiful and also acts as a primer for makeup. I can’t use it near my eyes however. I still use LRP for sensitive eyes 50+ and have done for years. When I was in France recently I stocked up at an amazing Parisian pharmacy. 2 for the price of one and even with exchange rate to AUD (Aussie dollars) it was great value. On my body I use our Cancer Council’s kids sunscreen and probably always will. It’s superb.
The Neutrogena Invisible Daily Defense Face Serum sunscreen is great, thanks! I also like the lotion from the same line, but nobody ever mentions it! I'm on my 3rd tube -- very moisturizing, 80 minutes water resistant, 60+ as well. Good stuff! (Maybe the ingredient lists are similar? Hard to read, tiny white print on a pale pink background)
I love the Banana Boat face product and loved it. Only wish it came in a larger size. I’m I know in the minority as I’m soooi disappointed in the DRMTLGY universal tint. It totally burned my eyes so it’s unwearable and a waste for me. The untinted version also burned my eyes so I’m using it up on my body.
The up and up lip spf was a total fail for me. Made my lips tingle and burn instantly. I gave the second tube to my sister who never reacts to anything and she said the same thing. My favorite lip spf are sun bum mineral in the black tube for running and Nivea or hada labo tinted spfs. I always throw one or two on my yesstyle orders.

I love the Verdio sunscreen. I used it for my body mostly but sometimes on my face if i was dry. It feels so nice and I have rosacea so a lot of sunscreens irritate my skin but this one did not burn anywhere on my face.
@@laurajean7913 la roche posay melt in milk. It didn’t irritate my skin and I was surprised because most chemical sunscreens made me flare up. Before that I was using baby bum mineral sunscreen
Thank you for providing such a detailed list of all the sunscreens. I'm going to check some of them out! I hope you have a wonderful day❤ P.s. I use those flower hair clips that you recommended from Amazon every day! And I always think of you😊
For people with darker skin the eucerin spf does leave a white cast! I'm not sure why because it's a chemical sunscreen but it leaves a white cast!!! Maybe because there's no alcohol to help dissolve the filters properly?! I'm not sure but it's there
The eucerin advanced hydration. Is a bit too thick and can be irritating if you have sensitive skin. There is another similar formula. Called “sensitive mineral Zinc oxide protection”

So tiny though
@@21972012145525 i dunno about tiny but it would be nice if it were in a larger size.
Love the up and up spf lip balm
Do you mean you
Use the gold bond underneath and spf on top.
Dr. Gray. Thank you for all your recommendations ❤❤❤
@@theres-a-hurrikane thank you - I will!

Obsessed with the verdio it just took a year to get 😭😭 need to order another
Hi, Dr. Dray, may I ask what’s the mechanism of action of the Japanese and Korean sunscreens? Physical or chemical? Thank you!
I use the DRMTLGY but it does make my face feel dry! TFS! 🥰
You have really pretty hair colour
You're hair is looking fabulous today, thick and full and shiny! Yum. What are you feeding it 😂😍
Dr drayyyy. My only HG is sunscreen lol. Paulas choice resist in royal blue w spf 50! No more poressss. Ive never seen u talk about that one, only light blue tint
She does have videos reviewing PC sunscreens.
@@db-gb5xi yes but never see the resist moisturizer w spf 50 in it. Its amazing
Cannot be w/o the DRMTTLGY! holy grail ❤
Whats your thought on the sunscreen tests people are doing on tiktok? The tape tests.
I found the Eucerin discounted at my Target and tried it and really love it for my body. I just can use so very few chemical sunscreens on my face because most irritate my eyes - but weirdly enough, the Kroger "glowscreen" dupe does not and i've been using it all summer.
The up and up lip balm makes my lips tingle for some reason
Ugh. Which are mineral which are chemical spf? Some of us are allergic/photosensitive to chemical sunscreens.
I just discovered Necessaire For Face and Body Broad spectrum sunscreen Spf 30 and really like it. Thank you for your reviews Dr. Dray.
Can you do a video of sunscreen recommendations for teenagers. Since teens don’t typically like the feeling of wearing sunscreen I’d love to see a video on lightweight affordable sunscreens for teenagers. Some tinted ones and light weight affordable sunscreens.
Eucerin sunscreen is so good. I use this for face . I should use it all over body .
Just ordered the Dermatology..I love ELTA MD tinted..will see how this stacks up against that.
I got the banana boat, the Mexican version. It lasts 4 hours. It's very nice.
Took your advice and bought on sale at Walmart the Dove Derm Care shampoo and conditioner as per your review precious to this.
I seem to break out from every sunscreen I try. What is the best for extremely sensitive skin?
I love the Banana Boat face product and loved it. Only wish it came in a larger size. I’m I know in the minority as I’m soooi disappointed in the DRMTLGY universal tint. It totally burned my eyes so it’s unwearable and a waste for me. The untinted version also burned my eyes so I’m using it up on my body.
❤ Banana Boat for the Face. Also Black Girl Sunscreen for kids.
SAP has really made a huge difference In my acne! My 15% Azelaic acid serum has it and I love it!
glad to hear this has helped
What is SAP?
A vit c derivative (sodium ascorbyl phospate). People with acne tend to like this one as far as vit c serums go like the one by Bubble.@@angiepattillo3599
I love the Verdio sunscreen. I used it for my body mostly but sometimes on my face if i was dry. It feels so nice and I have rosacea so a lot of sunscreens irritate my skin but this one did not burn anywhere on my face.
What’s your ho to sunscreen for your face??
@@laurajean7913 la roche posay melt in milk. It didn’t irritate my skin and I was surprised because most chemical sunscreens made me flare up. Before that I was using baby bum mineral sunscreen
I tried that exact Neutrogena sunscreen... it burns my eyes bad!
Thank you for providing such a detailed list of all the sunscreens. I'm going to check some of them out! I hope you have a wonderful day❤
P.s. I use those flower hair clips that you recommended from Amazon every day! And I always think of you😊
I kept a few of the flower clips and gave the others as gifts to my nieces and friends. Everyone LOVES them
I use the Eucerine on my face and it works nicely. Thank you for talking about it ❤ Have a nice day Dr. Dray
Thank you Dr Dray ❤ I appreciate the videos/vlogs.
I have a severe sensitivity to avobenzone and zinc oxide, which rules out most every sunscreen…the struggle is real.
@@mountainstream8351 Very itchy, raw, sore, red/purple coloured rash. Do you have the same sensitivities?
Yep, I can’t use any with zinc either
For people with darker skin the eucerin spf does leave a white cast! I'm not sure why because it's a chemical sunscreen but it leaves a white cast!!! Maybe because there's no alcohol to help dissolve the filters properly?! I'm not sure but it's there
Hi Dr. DRAY. I have been using the Olay sunscreen you have recommended in the past. I like it. Thank you for all the great info.
The eucerin advanced hydration. Is a bit too thick and can be irritating if you have sensitive skin. There is another similar formula.
Called “sensitive mineral Zinc oxide protection”
I love the Trader Joe's Daily Facial Sunscreen.
It's so good!
What’s the best under make up?
I use the Eucerin 50 and love it.
