The Australian Gold spf 50 tinted mineral sunscreen is my ride or die. Love it!! I basically use it instead of a foundation since I don’t mind the light coverage.
Same here. But I am really sceptical about the prosentage off filters in them. I did a lot of Google search but still not convinced. Anyone else that knows?
We would love to see these tinted sunscreens on different skin tones and colors. As a person of color, I always am skeptical of tinted sunscreens not being a match for my skin color and tone. Here's an idea: How about we get to see more colabs with people of color or just Dr Dray sharing pictures from when she asked her followers on instagram to share how these sunscreens look on their skin color and then make a video to share them with us!
Here in Brazil La Roche Posay have a system of creating your own color, dropping the color product into the colorless sunscreen in your hand. Average brazilian is darker than me, so even the 'light' shade is way too dark for me. I dont use tinted sunscreen anymore because it stains the beard. Edit. Is called Color Dose
For anyone with a fair complexion who finds the COTZ Flawless tint a little too dark, or finds the shiny finish not to your taste, or needs added hydration and skin barrier support, or needs water resistance (80 min), or enjoys a silky smooth finish…give the COTZ Face Moisture SPF35 Lightly Tinted a try. It contains 16% zinc, iron oxide, ceramides, and dimethicone which gives a blurring effect to the pores. Can be worn under makeup or on its own.
Thanks for the recommendation! I like the Australian Gold tinted face sunscreen for many of these reasons but am always interested in trying similar products.
This product has an identical ingredient list with the TIZO product mentioned in the video. TIZO and COTZ are sister companies, so the COTZ might be a cheaper dupe.
@@JulienArbor yes! Sad part is, it’s the only one from COTZ that doesn’t leave a terrible cast on me. I’ve tried quite a few through those samples. I’ve since switched over to European & Japanese sunscreen.
I needed this today!! I know this is a little different from your usual content, but could you do a video on skin and hair care for swimmers? The chlorine is so harsh on skin and hair, especially if you have skin conditions or wavy/curly hair or if you are an athlete. I swam for years in my youth and had terrible frizzy hair and ashy skin to the point where I stopped this wonderful form of exercise because I was tired of always being itchy and having unmanageable hair. I cobbled together this haircare routine from various Reddit forums and articles years ago and it seems to work, but I'm sure there are other things I could be doing prevent dryness, itch, and aging. Swimmers will really appreciate this, and it's a good time since summer is pool season! Thanks, Dr Dray
Before I swim I slather my hair in Aldi's Argan Oil Hydrating conditioner (sulphate free) and put Vaseline Intensive care on my body, including fingernails. Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) neutralises chlorine, So I put my Vitamin C serum (with ferulic) on my face when I get home. Can I ask how do you incorporate ascorbic acid into you pre/post swim hair and skincare routine? I am afraid that of the concentration was too strong it would turn my fair skin and blonde hair orange😳 👱♀️❤
Great tips for hair - I keep mine really short, so it is less of an issue. What is your favorite sunscreen for swimming for both face and body? Swimming with a rash guard is one way, but it is clumsy. Thanks!
@@nadab4750 It was a little tricky figuring out how to use the solution at the pool. You can't make a big batch ahead of time since absorbic acid loses its efficacy in a day or so of contact with water. I keep a small jar of absorbic acid crystals in my bag. The ratio I use is 2 tablespoons of absorbic acid crystals to 1 cup of water, and I use a blender bottle (the kind used for workout shakes) to mix it quickly at the pool. I'm not very precise with this ratio in practice, but I have not had any problems yet! I got the absorbic acid crystals at a local supplement store. The crystals are white in color, so I don't think you have to worry about your hair turning orange 😅 but my hair is black so I wouldn't know for sure. Thanks for sharing your routine! Sometimes I use Aquaphor on my cheeks because I get dry there.
The best tinted sunscreen I’ve ever used is the Skinceuticals physical fusion. It’s way too expensive to use daily so I only use it in situations where I don’t want any cast.
I love that you including sunscreens without niacinamide! Niacinamide is my biggest enemy in skincare 😂 It keeps getting harder and harder to find skincare without niacinamide...
Try the Paula’s Choice one! It’s called Paula’s Choice RESIST Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 Matte. I’m incredibly fair skinned with pink undertones and most tinted sunscreens don’t work for me either/look orange, but this is the only one that doesn’t. It really is very lightly tinted and with a smooth, silky formula that doesn’t pill or cake up. I highly recommend. It is a little on the pricey side ($35) but it’s so worth it if you want to use a tinted sunscreen but don’t want to look like an Oompa Loompa.
I love my European tinted sunscreens: Bioderma (Photoderm Nude touch spf 50+), Isispharma mineral tinted spf 50+, SVR Sun Secure spf 50+, Avene sun mineral fluid - all these are fragrance free and are perfect for sensitive skin (I have rosacea so I use these a lot, twice or three times per day without causing me any irritation). European peeps have a wide range of good options that are budget friendly and effective.
@@kate3264 yes, all of these have mineral filters only! Also, Uriage has some nice mineral options, however I have never tried any tinted spf from them as they have fragrance - but there are non tinted and fragrance free mineral options from Uriage that I use and love. Unfortunately I’ve never used any Eucerin sunscreens so I cannot comment on that.
Yes I love EU sunscreens, I love Bioderma covertouch, I still need to try the other one that have, I got one from Garnier and Isdin came with more colors those with fragrances tho
Well, yes, but the "universal" tint is still a bit of a problem. What is universal in France is somewhat less so in Scotland, regardless of our shared disgust for the carbuncle that is England. Which of these would you say is the lightest and least orange in tint? Isispharma's AR line is excellent!
@@pencilfriendpaperscribbler6032 with bioderma I usually purchase the light colour (they also have a very light colour but I do prefer a bit of a “bronze” so to say). I can’t really say which one suits your skin type best. You have to keep trying different brands and their shade ranges and see what works for you. What I also used to do was to put on a mineral sunscreen that is quite white casty and to mask that I would come on top with any tinted mineral sunscreen that I preferred that day. Also, you can blend in your hand some mineral sunscreen and a bit of tinted mineral sunscreen to create your preferred shade. Both methods worked well for me and that’s what I usually do on a daily basis.
I tried the Tatcha sunscreen recently. It’s nice but even at $60 it’s still nothing like the $15 tinted Cerave sunscreen- which imo is the best ever ❤️ ☀️
I found the ceraVE to make my face look a tid bit oily. It's the best color match for me however, that blends in okay that I've found so far. Some tinted sunscreens can be a little more on the orangey/dark side or not blend in as well look kinda cakey. I have skin that is on somewhat the oily side but not super oily.. CeraVE moisturizer is supposed to be good for all skin types, many dermatologists recommend.. I'm not sure about the sunscreen sunscreen though, seems a bit heavier.
@Aly Cat If you're looking just for a mineral sunscreen I know a good 1 that doesn't have a white cast blends in well.. but it's not tinted unfortunately if that's what you are preferring. Although I'm not sure if it's meant for sensitive skin or not.. I haven't had issues but I don't have sensitive skin just have acne prone skin-I know everyone's skin is different. It's not super cheap though around $30 a bottle.
After seeing this video, I ordered Sun Bum tinted mineral. This is the most comfortable to wear mineral sunscreen that I have ever put on my face. I like the smooth and easy to spread texture, it blurs pores, masks some of my redness, and isn't shiny. I am on my second tube and just ordered three more. I love it! Thanks for the recommendation.
Tried the colorscience flex because of your recommendation in the past and I love it 🥰 I have it in tan and it’s the perfect shade for me. It's almost has a blurring effect to it and is gorgeous on the skin. Thanks Dr. Dray ❤
@@stephanieabutler No its not greasy at all, it has a demi-matte finish, so it's matte but not drying or flat. If you do want to mattify your skin, I would say do that before, then apply your tinted sunscreen over.
This CoTZ was way too moisturizing for my combo/oily skin but my sister who has eczema and super sensitive skin absolutely loved it! I really love the CoTZ Face Prime & Protect SPF 40 - Tinted!
@@vetsai8199 was it the spf 40 sensitive one you tried or the flawless complexion? Just wondering as I'm looking for a really moisturising one as I have extremely dry skin thanks
I was kind of excited about the Tatcha one but I put it on my hand in Sephora and no way. It left a white cast and I am not of a dark complexion. If it helps anyone I am a Fenty 350 and the Tatcha just doesn't pass the test. I'll stick to Supergoop and (surprisingly) Glow Recipe. I'm thinking of trying Neogen but idk yet.
I enjoy that Sun Bum option. It is great for on-the-go and I use it as a light primer before makeup as well. It has a mousse or whipped consistency. It doesn’t drip like liquid although I do enjoy liquid sunscreens too.
I am "light" with an olive undertone, so most base products either look pink or orange on me (if not totally washed out). I don't usually wear face makeup and I've wanted to use tinted spf, but it tends to look orange. If I could find a grey/green based one then that would work, though I'm afraid it would just rub off onto my clothes and such.. I'm always on the hunt for more spf though so maybe some in this video will work. ☺
I have the same problem, I add a touch of L.A. Girl’s Pro color BLUE foundation mixing pigment. A little goes a long way but it really helps take away the orange tint. I’m not sure if it messes with the SPF effectiveness though.
I've heard Missha BB cream SPF 42 PA+++ is grayish and I've seen it compared to a Purito BB as being similar. I use the lightest shade 13 and it's the only tinted sunscreen/BB cream I can use, the rest are too orange including from european La Roche Posay, Bioderma, Avene.
I definitely attribute you to my regular sunscreen use. It was something that my family never really cared about but now I’m all for wearing it indoors and out. Also, your recommendations are great! I love the black girl sunscreen and Japanese sunscreens the best 😊
I just bought Aveeno kid’s mineral 21% zinc on a stick. Game changer! I love it. I love Sun Bum mineral, but all of the sunscreens I’ve tried, although excellent, irritated my eyes so much. With the stick, it is so manageable and no problem with reapplying, since I don’t wear makeup
Anyone who has my skin tone (medium/olive/darker) I recommend CeraVe’s Hydrating Tinted Mineral sunscreen. It’s almost like a primer and make-up in one, but a sunscreen. I wouldn’t recommend it if you have oily skin though. It’s a very dewy/glowy finish.
Since were talking TARGET - I have to mention the Boots No. 7 Fragrance free “Foundation Drops”. They’ve been an absolute game changer for me. I add them on the top of my hand to my moisturizer with sunscreen or any untinted sunscreen. Great for when you can not find a tinted sunscreen or BB cream for your skin color.
The Tatcha sunscreen is my HG, after trying almost all mineral sunscreens out there. I have extremely fair, dry, mature skin and this is the only one that does turn gray, orange, or white. Thx for you amazing channel. I trust you and only you.
You might want to take a look at Australian Gold sunscreens. They have three tints as well as untinted, and the prices are good. If you have a fair complexion, Think tinted sunscreen might also be an option for you.
Same here. I use the Japanese spf 50 pa++++ chemical sunscreens. You can buy many of them on Amazon for less than $4 per ounce. So far I've loved every one I've tried and they don't burn my eyes.
from my humble and limited experience with sunscreens, i find that mineral sunscreens don’t pill as much (i’ve tried 3 so far). chemical ones, especially the fluid ones, pill sometimes
The sun bum is a staple for me! I have tried a lot of expensive ones but this is like a fluffy mousse and spreads like a dream. Blends in but also has a pore blurring effect like make up. It feels like nothing is on your skin after it dries and has no scent. I like it much better than drmtlgy brand ones and those are also great.
Thanks for this as iv never tried a tinted sunscreen but I really like the look of the sunbum one so it's nice to hear you say it has the qualities I'm looking for... I'm gonna try it xxx
Hello, I myself dislike minerals suncreen tinted or not...they change the colour of foundations and passed the 4/5 hours marks at the most , the foundation/ make up look like mashed potatoes on the face.....I much prefer chemical sunblocks when it comes to make up. they formulas are much more élegants..bye.
Becareful with these they stain your clothes and its almost impossible to remove. Dr dray needs to make a video about sunscreens staining clothes. All my clothes are ruined because of US sunscreens that contain avobenzene
Yes, I wish this would be addressed. My husband won’t wear tinted because of this but he hates the white cast and he also gets the stingy burn from chemical! And I tend to avoid them myself as well, although I do love the Paula’s Choice which I find doesn’t stain but it’s a very light tint.
@@AllyKit i think she talked about it in an old video back in 2018 but didnt go to in depth with it. Mineral tinted sunscreens stain clothes. Chemical sunscreens with avobenzene also stain clothes. Not sure if any filter in asian sunscreens also stains clothes yellow.
She's mentioned it in videos and a fb/ig post from Jan 2019. If you google, dr dray sunscreen stain, you'll pull up the post and she goes into the filters that are the main culprits.
Great video Dr. Dray. Thank you. I love the tint and coverage on skinceuticals but the last time I purchased it was gritty. No matter how much I shook the bottle it still felt gritty going on. Has anyone else experienced that with this product?
No I haven't, but maybe the product became too warm in transit? Check the best before/use by date too. Ask for a refund or replacement, especially as it hasn't has the gritty texture previously. The seller should want to know this if they stand by their products & value customer satisfaction. 👱♀️❤
Hi there, thank you for the videos, they're very informative. I watched your scalp eczema video & wanted to ask, is hair loss from scalp eczema permanent or does it grow back? As I've lost a lot of hair due to it
I use the Australian Gold as well. But it is a bit drying. So I add a small squirt of Cera Ve Am moisturizer with SPF. It helps not feeling so dry at the end of the day.
I just discovered Australian Gold sunscreen recently and I really love it! It's made for oily/combination oily skin. I think Dr Dray might have relatively dry skin so the sunscreens she picked up is more moisturizing. 😀
@@whitneybrown4067 Just wishing that I could use my sunscreen on my English box plants. Even though they were kept under shade, a lot still got burnt in the sun. The leaves got burnt first, then the stems dried out too, even though I watered them regularly. Most of them haven't recovered, but I still have a few left. Hopefully they will be fine as is autumn now. 🌡☀️🌿 I think I have to stick with the Australian natives, suculents and cacti. 👱♀️❤
Heheh I knew the Delta MD would be in this list, Not sure if I would buy the Tatcha either… I’ve bought their products before and I tend to oxidate with their products (like my face turns in a weird orange color, don’t know why) and expensive. Sun bum looks like a beautiful color and I LOVE how it looked on you, will try it for sure, and also curious of the R&R. LOVEEEEEE this video!!!!!!!
I've been using ColorScience Sunforgettable for the last year, since you recommended it. I have pale skin, and I still like it. What is your opinion about it these days? Thanks for all the science info, as always!
Colorscience Classic Face Shield checks all the boxes for me, and consistently keeps me from burning because I work outdoors in the summer. It’s great that there are even more affordable options out there at a better price point. I find the Unrefined R&R to be more yellow/warm on me whereas Colorscience Classic more peachy. That said, they both blend well into skin. I still like to have a non-tinted option for sports (mineral or chemical) so I’m not wiping tinted product off my face onto towels or clothing. Thanks for keeping us updated, I’m always trying new sunscreens out as they get better and better😊
The Sun Bum Mineral sunscreen is really nice and does not give you a shiny appearance. It’s great on no-foundation days. I bought the Cotz 50 spf at the same time and liked it okay but wasn’t crazy about the consistency, given it’s not water-resistant. The Eucerin Age Defense 50 SPF (which you covered in an earlier video) is fantastic and I wholeheartedly recommend.
I'm currently wearing my new favorite tinted sunscreen: Suntegrity Impeccable Skin SPF 30 in the shady Ivory. Great coverage with the perfect demi-matte finish and no greasiness or white cast whatsoever! Plus, the Ivory shade matches my skin tone perfectly! It ain't cheap, but it's worth every penny in my book.
Always so helpful. I've started using tinted sunscreens and they are game changers.. Hard to find the right fit for yourself. You gotta try a bunch and see what works... Unfortunately.
I love Paula's choice wrinkle defense SPF. It evens out my skintone perfectly. It's hard to find one for pale skin. The botanical SPF was too orange for me. These look promising though
“Picture it: Germany 2002..” 😂 Yes, I feel very old sometimes talking about this, but it used to be so so difficult (impossible…) in Germany to get a decent sunscreen for the face back in the day 😊☀️ It is not very sunny and hot in Western Europe, but I was always on the hunt for a good sunscreen, because I knew that the sun will age my skin over time - even if it is cloudy. My friends used to treat me like I had a psychological issue, because I insisted on sunscreen on a daily basis… Everybody wanted to look like J.Lo (who doesn’t) and tanned like crazy… What can I say… I did my best to warn them…🤷🏻♀️ Currently my favorite sunscreen is ISDIN. It has the perfect texture and is not as pricey as skin sceuticals - which is great for the beach, when I don’t have foundation on, since it is a tiny bit “richer” than ISDIN. Could you please review that one, Dr. Dray..? I would really appreciate it 🥰
I really like the ISDIN. Got it first from my derm who uses it herself. I live in a dry climate, so I do have to have moisturizer on and dried down first. I like the untinted ISDIN too.
@@kmjdebay I prefer the untinted ones! The textures are better imo. But it doesn’t hurt to have the tinted ones at hand too 😅 I like to mix them with my foundation in the summer to get a deeper color, to sheer the foundation out a bit and to get a little bit of extra protection.
Thank you so incredibly much. I LOVE your sunscreen videos!! I tried several sunscreens … I have sensitive , reactive and dry skin. My favourite right now is Ultra Viollette’s mineral sunscreen ’ lean screen’. It has a tint, and is supposed to be mattifying but I haven’t found that ( everyone’s skin is different, and reacts differently to different products etc and I have heard that people with oily skin love it too for that reason). It’s spf 50+ UVA + UVB ( broad spectrum) …. It’s Australian ( like me!), so the spf really is amazing & trustworthy ( I hope that makes sense! UVA is at least 1/3 of the UVB, at least). It’s fragrance free and has minimal ingredients. I have sensitive eyes too and haven’t really had any trouble with stinging. . I have to say it was strange when I first started using it, my skin became incredibly dry after a few days and then was fine. Not entirely sure if it was the sunscreen or something else. I have a feeling though my skin was just reacting (?) adjusting (?) to a new/different product. Glad I stuck with it one more day! Wouldn’t normally do that! Oh and it has a fantastic blurring effect 😊
thanks for your comment! i have the same skin type as you, but can’t find ultra viollette products in my local shops. are there any other sunscreens that you recommend?
So I tried the Tatcha tinted silk sunscreen last week. My ROSACEA went absolutely CRAZY. I've never had a breakout like this before. My skin was beginning to look like glass after 1 yr of supplements, healthy eating, tons of H2O, retinol, liquid exfoliant, Biossance gel moisturizer and face oil. I sent that TATCHA ish back immediately. I'm going to stick with my 25 spf mineral veil.
Hey guys as a heads up the skinceuticals sunscreen 4 oz. container costs about $66, but I’ve been using liberally daily and it’s still half full about 7 months later. So actually the sunscreen comes out pretty cheap because of how long it lasts. I think it’s because it’s so liquid like that it lasts so long.
Yep, agree as well! For a brand that tends to have really expensive products, I was surprise that for Skinceuticals’ the most important skincare product, sunscreen, is actually a good bargain. I bought my 4.2 fl oz bottle in person for $66 at Blue Mercury. To me it’s worth every penny!
I LOVE the R&R sun serum, but I get a runny nose and watery eyes every time I wear it. Any idea why? Maybe it's just a coincidence and I'm allergic to something else, but I don't seem to have this issue with the cerave tinted sunscreen.
I love it too but my eyes get so watery as well with excessive eye mucus?! It only happens with this sunscreen too. I love the sunscreen so currently looking for a different sunscreen to wear around my eye area. I wonder what ingredient it could be?
Dr Dray PLEASE PLEASE GO OVER NANO AND NON-NANO!!!! I love the Drmtlgy sunscreens, but they’re nano sized. Would love to know if they’re just as good!!!!!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
For the Tatcha sunscreen, Sephora has an image stating that it’s 80 min water resistant. I emailed Tatcha, and they confirmed that the sunscreen is water resistant.
Australian viewers may be interested to know that there is a compounding pharmacy that is dedicated to skincare, meaning that they can develop skincare products especially to meet your individual needs. It is called Skin Plus Pharmacy. The credentials of their team are impressive. I just come across it, when I was looking up who sells the Propaira sunscreen that I use. It's currently discounted there! They also manufacture and sell their own Skin Plus Pharmacy skincare products. (BTW I am not affiliated with these two businesses in any way). 👱♀️❤
@@marizzy63 Yes, thanks Mary Ann. I hope you are too. I'm just up in the middle of the night/morning scuttling about like hamsters do 🐹 as Dr Dray says! 👱♀️❤
For anybody attempting to pursue Blue Light protection, I'd like to stress in this video that she says, *"MAY offer..."* In other words, there is no guarantee that the tinted sunscreens mentioned in this video will actually yield said protection simply based on the fact that they contain iron oxides. This goes for makeup as well. Unless these brands have done rigorous testing (which I would guess they have not) to show the tint in their sunscreens offer Blue Light protection, then I wouldn't get my hopes up. Yes, you MAY be getting SOME protection, but don't think you need to run out and buy a tinted sunscreen to incorporate into your routine. Blue Light protection offered by Iron Oxides highly depends on the type-quality, percentage used, formulation, correct density/amount applied to the skin, as well as the ratio of red, yellow, and black pigments. To my knowledge, Colorscience is one of the few brands out there to demonstrate these results in testing, to actually make the claims that their sunscreens offer Blue Light protection. If anything, I would rely on Avène's new TriAsorB filter over any tinted sunscreen based on iron oxides. In summary, just choose a sunscreen you enjoy wearing, and reapplying. Don't mix products, don't over-think layering products, and don't fall for the internet buzz or hype around the necessity for Blue Light protection.
I ordered the Sun Bum tinted mineral sunscreen. Really like it so far. This blends well with my fair skin tone. Good to have a more economical choice that is such high quality. Thank you for reviewing this!
I love sunscreen reviews. Idk if it’s weird or not but us chemical burns the crap out of my skin but the mineral ones burn my eyes bad and make them red. Not sure why. Only sunscreen that works for me is the ishean kiss me mommy one that you recommend. I absolutely love it!
Dear Dr. Dray, thank you so much for your informative videos and expertise. They are very helpful. Do you recommend wearing sunscreen for arms and legs for daily outdoor activities? I was concerned about getting enough Vitamin D from sunlight for bone density. Will UPF 50+ fabric faceshield block blue light?
You need 10 mins a day of sun for vit d. I prefer not to get skin cancer so I go outside all coveted and I take synthetic vit d. If you don't then ask your doctor for vitamin d (Max amount in one daily dose)
You have converted me. I have not used sunscreen for most my life because it broke me out. Now that I use a tinted mineral sunscreen, I do not! And it has taken the place of my foundation. I wish I had done this years ago!
I've never used a tinted sunscreen but they seem like a good option, especially in the Summer, when I'm looking for something less heavy than my regular foundation. Thanks for the reviews! These seem nice. Happy Monday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a lovely evening. 💙
I have an F1 skin tone and the new Tactcha sunscreen is the sunscreen of my dreams. I am wowed by it! And I am appreciative for the very light sheer color that it provides because all the other tinted sunscreens are way too deep. Even the ones that are supposed to be light. They all turn my orange.
Love Sunscreens! I just reviewed the Peter Thomas Rother Max Clear and Tula Protect and Glow under makeup (they are amazing!!!) and am working on the Sunbum one and Cay Skins new Isle Glow. Definitely have thoughts about both of these especially for makeup wearers. Thanks Doc! 😊
Definitely adding the Australian Gold to the list to try. I will say Sunbums tinted appears to be wonderful for those with a fair-light COOL undertone which is super rare! Most tints lean warm or even orange so to have 1 cool toned option is exciting! 😁
I’ve been using the tinted dermatology sunscreen recommend by Dr. Dray in an older video. I actually like it better than the EltaMD. It is not shiny at all and actually makes your skin look really good.
I have been using Sunbum mineral sunscreen for awhile now.. works perfect with my screen type. If you have only skin and large pores you should try it.
Ive tried several of the sunsceens mentioned here. My go to tinted sunscreen these days is Australian Gold Botanical 50 Tinted Face.. It's not that weird orange tint you sometimes see in tinted sunscreens, and it comes in different shades (maybe 3 or 4). It's fragrance free, spf 50, and water resistant for 80 minutes. It stays put even in high humidity. I've taken it to Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Florida and it's stood the test of time for 3 summers now.
My favorites are Murad city skin and Colorescience face shield. My derm said I'm a Fitzpatrick type 1, and the tint of these actually works for me. Most tints are way too dark/brown/orange, but the pink/peach tones of these work for me.
@@mcookie0983 I haven't tried to matte! On the website the tint looked like it wouldn't work for me, so I've stuck with what I know works for me. And I use the powder sunscreen to bring down the shine, if needed.
I love the EltaMD Elements tinted. It's very similar to the Restore one I think, but it's water resistant. So for hot, sweaty weather it works better, and it works great under makeup! The tint is a little darker, so on my very fair skin I look bronzed when wearing it, but it doesn't look orange so that's nice. The tint is lighter than some of the other eltamd tinted sunscreens, but darker than the eltamd UV Physical which has a very light tint.
I've had tinted sunscreens stain my clothes. 😖 Be careful putting them on your neck near your collar! On a radically different note, just found out I have cold urticaria. 🌡️ Be nice to see a Dr. Dray vid on that!
Thank you for these videos! I’ve gotten a lot better at wearing sunscreen because of you! 🥰

Here in Brazil La Roche Posay have a system of creating your own color, dropping the color product into the colorless sunscreen in your hand. Average brazilian is darker than me, so even the 'light' shade is way too dark for me. I dont use tinted sunscreen anymore because it stains the beard.
Edit. Is called Color Dose
how about no?
I think it's a great idea as long as different tones of all races are shown as there's not only one tone for either race or ethnicity.
Hi, I actually reveiwed the Cotz suncreen on my channel last year if you want to see the results on deeper skin toned.
She does have a review for color tones 4, 5 and 6 but it is from two years ago
For anyone with a fair complexion who finds the COTZ Flawless tint a little too dark, or finds the shiny finish not to your taste, or needs added hydration and skin barrier support, or needs water resistance (80 min), or enjoys a silky smooth finish…give the COTZ Face Moisture SPF35 Lightly Tinted a try. She has a video like that (not sure about the curly hair part), 10 tips to protect your hair and skin from the swimming pool, Jun 19, '20.
I am afraid that of the concentration was too strong it would turn my fair skin and blonde hair orange😳
👱♀️❤
Me too! Glad to know someone else has a problem with it. It is in almost everything now.
I cannot tolerate Niacinaminde … I have given away so many very expensive sunscreens because of my skins reaction to it
Sorry. All too orange and too expensive. I have light skin and nothing ever matches. I do like Sunbum products so I may give that a try.
I was just going to ask and you answered my question. And are all these mineral? Have you tried any of the eucerin tinted sunscreens?
Is the Cerave a light or dark tint? Do you have dry or oily skin? Thanks
Cerave tinted mineral sunscreen broke me out. Still on the hunt for a good mineral sunscreen that doesn’t clog my pores and doesn’t have fragrance.
It's not super cheap though around $30 a bottle.
i’m on my fourth bottle of sunbum! as someone with an oilier t-zone, i love the more matte texture
Which one do you have? The regular one or the tinted ❤️
The BEST sunscreen ever I can’t believe I haven’t tried it sooner
After seeing this video, I ordered Sun Bum tinted mineral. This is the most comfortable to wear mineral sunscreen that I have ever put on my face. I like the smooth and easy to spread texture, it blurs pores, masks some of my redness, and isn't shiny. I am on my second tube and just ordered three more. I love it! Thanks for the recommendation.
Definitely getting this one to try it on my light- medium neutral mature skin. thanks 👍
May I ask what skin tone you have? Do you have dry or oily skin? Thanks
Tried the colorscience flex because of your recommendation in the past and I love it 🥰 I have it in tan and it’s the perfect shade for me. It's almost has a blurring effect to it and is gorgeous on the skin. Thanks Dr. Dray ❤
Do you find it greasy? 🤔 I want to try the Flex but haven't liked any of the other Colorscience sunscreens.
@@stephanieabutler i use the flex, allow it to set and then I apply the matte.
@@stephanieabutler No its not greasy at all, it has a demi-matte finish, so it's matte but not drying or flat. If you do want to mattify your skin, I would say do that before, then apply your tinted sunscreen over.
What’s your opinion on DRMTLGY tinted sunscreen?
they are great...i have reviewed before
This CoTZ was way too moisturizing for my combo/oily skin but my sister who has eczema and super sensitive skin absolutely loved it! I really love the CoTZ Face Prime & Protect SPF 40 - Tinted!
I agree-I have dry, sensitive skin, but the regular CoTZ was too moisturizing even for me!
@@vetsai8199 was it the spf 40 sensitive one you tried or the flawless complexion? Just wondering as I'm looking for a really moisturising one as I have extremely dry skin thanks
@@emms4867 It was the Flawless Complexion.
I'm thinking of trying Neogen but idk yet.
yes, hardly any tint
This is good to know as I am extremely pale and a lot of tinted sunscreens are way too dark for me!
I love the Australian gold tinted 50. I have oily skin and thus sunscreen almost acts like a primer
I enjoy that Sun Bum option. It is great for on-the-go and I use it as a light primer before makeup as well. It has a mousse or whipped consistency. It doesn’t drip like liquid although I do enjoy liquid sunscreens too.
What is your skin type?
Dr. Dray I can’t use any SPF on my face as I am allergic to it. Eyes tear and nose runs. I have Multiple Chemical Sensivity. Any other ideas?
try mineral
@@DrDrayzday what do you mean by mineral? Use what that is mineral?
Thank you for all the advise you give to all of us!
Same here. Neostrata defend spf 50 PA ++++ works great for me.
@@Loufi303 thank you! I'll check it out.
I have the same problem, I add a touch of L.A. Girl’s Pro color BLUE foundation mixing pigment.
A little goes a long way but it really helps take away the orange tint.
I’m not sure if it messes with the SPF effectiveness though.
It doesn't have iron oxides, but if you’re looking for a green tint, try hero cosmetics sunscreen
Same! My eyes started to water and looked red by the end of the day
Anyone who has my skin tone (medium/olive/darker) I recommend CeraVe’s Hydrating Tinted Mineral sunscreen. It’s almost like a primer and make-up in one, but a sunscreen. I wouldn’t recommend it if you have oily skin though. It’s a very dewy/glowy finish.
Sounds right up my alley, thank you!
I use that one and I love it.
I use this one as well. Its lovely. It has a messy cap but I deal with cleaning it like a ketchup bottle 😋
I think I tried that one and it didn't work for my skin tone (a bit darker than yours at a medium-deep), which was a shame.
Idk why that one doesn’t work well for me. Had a hard time blending in 😭 and I have olive skin
Unfortunately my budget won’t allow me to try these brands but I still enjoy your reviews 😃
Please tell us what sunscreen you are wearing today. It is perfection!! Your skin looks amazing!!!
Thank you for pointing out the niacinamide - saves me getting my hopes up about the product 😊
Since I discovered Dr. Dray, I have been so much more consistent with my sunscreen usage. I just can't walk out the door without putting it on!
They are all too expensive for me 😭
Thank you for your recommendations ❤️❤️
I’m normally a drugstore skincare person, but that SkinCeuticals physical fusion is worth every dollar and my favorite tinted sunscreen.
from my humble and limited experience with sunscreens, i find that mineral sunscreens don’t pill as much (i’ve tried 3 so far).
chemical ones, especially the fluid ones, pill sometimes
The sun bum is a staple for me! I have tried a lot of expensive ones but this is like a fluffy mousse and spreads like a dream. Blends in but also has a pore blurring effect like make up. It feels like nothing is on your skin after it dries and has no scent. I like it much better than drmtlgy brand ones and those are also great.
Thanks for this as iv never tried a tinted sunscreen but I really like the look of the sunbum one so it's nice to hear you say it has the qualities I'm looking for... I'm gonna try it xxx
I have a nickel allergy and have to avoid products with iron oxides due to possible nickel contamination...I'm gutted.
I love the tinted mineral sun bum spf 30. Thanks so much for reviewing it. Feels good knowing my fave dermatologist recommends the sunscreen I use!
I’m loving your pick, Epionce daily tinted (and also love a similar one from PCA Skin). Thanks for the new options!
I use the Epionce as well.
As do I!😃
Becareful with these they stain your clothes and its almost impossible to remove.
If anyone knows how to get it out, I hope they comment here please! Thanks!
She's mentioned it in videos and a fb/ig post from Jan 2019. If you google, dr dray sunscreen stain, you'll pull up the post and she goes into the filters that are the main culprits.
My favorite for year’s Australian Gold!
Same. Every single time I try something else, I regret it. For the quality and price, it can't be beat IMO, especially in the summer heat.
Love when you edit the product onto the screen with info typed below. So helpful. Thank you! 💗
Just what I needed! I trust Dr Dray so much. Whatever she’s recommended has always worked for me! She’s my honest & loyal bestfriend…, in my head! 😝
👱♀️❤
Same here, but think I’ll give it a try again. I haven’t used it in years because of the grittiness
Hey Dr Dray :
Got a great mineral to recommend: Color Science Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield 50 ++++. Plays well with makeup!
yes, i have a few reviews of their sunscreens, including that one...one of my favorites too!
Pretty sure she's reviewed that one as well.
Hi there, thank you for the videos, they're very informative. I watched your scalp eczema video & wanted to ask, is hair loss from scalp eczema permanent or does it grow back? As I've lost a lot of hair due to it
I’ve been wondering the same thing as I had a bad flare up.
Every single sunscreen mineral or chemical breaks me out. Any recommendations?
I like to use regular sunscreen on my face and then Physicians Formula CC Cream SPF 30 for some color.
The two tinted, mineral sunscreens I’m using right now are Paula’s Choice and Australian Gold. 😃 Great video!
Ahhh I love Australian gold. This is the only sunscreen that truly makes my skin matte 😍
I use the Australian Gold as well. But it is a bit drying. So I add a small squirt of Cera Ve Am moisturizer with SPF. It helps not feeling so dry at the end of the day.
Australian gold is the most affordable and best thing I’ve found!! Matte and waterproof. LOVE IT!! I want her to review it too
I just discovered Australian Gold sunscreen recently and I really love it! It's made for oily/combination oily skin. I think Dr Dray might have relatively dry skin so the sunscreens she picked up is more moisturizing. 😀
@@saranielsen4248 She did review it and she didn’t like it due to an allergic reaction. But she recommends it to those that can use it though.
I'm still using the Propaira SPF 50+ UVA UVB tinted sunscreen 4 hour water resistant with niacinamide. Made in Melbourne, Australia.

I love the Elta MD UV Restore. Great options thanks for sharing ☺️
I love the COTZ flawless sunscreen, I have a medium skin tone and it looks sheer! It leaves the skin looking dewy though
I have the same expxerience, I LOVE the elta MD physical, and goes on looking really nice, but it does oxidate on my face after a few hours.
I've been using ColorScience Sunforgettable for the last year, since you recommended it. I have pale skin, and I still like it.
What is your opinion about it these days?
Thanks for all the science info, as always!
I use ColorScience too. Hopefully leaving it off this video doesn’t mean it’s no longer recommended. 😊
Can you do an updated European version of tinted spfs? ❤️
Which one have you tried? I went to the pharmacy and saw so many and I didn’t know which one is Dr Dray approved…
I love Paula's choice wrinkle defense SPF. It evens out my skintone perfectly. It's hard to find one for pale skin. The botanical SPF was too orange for me. These look promising though
I have the skinceuticals one!! It’s nice 👍 Dr. Dray, I’d like to use PGA with the cetaphil salicylic acid moisturizer. Would those be a good pair?
The Elta Md Restore is my go to everyday sunscreen. I love it and it’s so pretty.
My problem is how do you reapply with a tinted one without looking like you have a mask on since you reapply and reapply color to your face?
So I tried the Tatcha tinted silk sunscreen last week. My ROSACEA went absolutely CRAZY. I've never had a breakout like this before. My skin was beginning to look like glass after 1 yr of supplements, healthy eating, tons of H2O, retinol, liquid exfoliant, Biossance gel moisturizer and face oil. I sent that TATCHA ish back immediately. I'm going to stick with my 25 spf mineral veil.
Which spf do you use that doesn’t upset ur rosacea?
But the sun is shining the same in Europe Japan and the us. Do the us brands even bother about the UVA rays?!
I agree! I have the 4.2 oz bottle and even though it’s $66 I use it everyday and because it is a fluid sunscreen it lasts a long time.
You can feel dr dray’s excitement when she talks about sunscreen
Does wearing foundation over a non-tinted sunscreen serve the same purpose since the foundation has a tint and color to it?
As long as it has iron oxides, you're good!
@@toshapace4024 thanks!
My current favorite sunscreen is from Neova. Spreads easily and wears well under makeup
Dr Dray PLEASE PLEASE GO OVER NANO AND NON-NANO!!!! I love the Drmtlgy sunscreens, but they’re nano sized. Would love to know if they’re just as good!!!!!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Yay a new video!! Sunscreen my fav! Can I apply a mineral tinted sunscreen over a base of chemical sunscreen? ♥️
Yes you can!
For the Tatcha sunscreen, Sephora has an image stating that it’s 80 min water resistant. I emailed Tatcha, and they confirmed that the sunscreen is water resistant.
That’s why I took the plunge and bought it… I needed a water resistant SPF for hiking etc.
It gave me HORRIBLE rosacea. I really wanted it to work bc I've been using retinols for a yr and need extra protection under my makeup. Boo......

For anybody attempting to pursue Blue Light protection, I'd like to stress in this video that she says, *"MAY offer..."*
In other words, there is no guarantee that the tinted sunscreens mentioned in this video will actually yield said protection simply based on the fact that they contain iron oxides.
Don't mix products, don't over-think layering products, and don't fall for the internet buzz or hype around the necessity for Blue Light protection.
and whats the harm in going for blue light protection even if its just potentially?
yes these are quite expensive but the CeraVe tinted spf is not. I just dont feel like its bad to be safer than sorry
I ordered the Sun Bum tinted mineral sunscreen. Really like it so far. This blends well with my fair skin tone. Good to have a more economical choice that is such high quality. Thank you for reviewing this!
Good to know. So many are too dark for fair skin.
I love the LaRoche Posay tinted mineral sunscreen. It’s more of a matte finish
What is your skin type?
No mention of the ISDIN tinted sunscreen? What do you think of that one?
Would love to see a "one and done" video for kids while at summer camps. I know my elementary kids will not be reapplying.
$60 for 50 ml? No thx.
Great video on sunscreens. I use the Elta MD sunscreen daily. I love this sunscreen & the two ounces lasts a long time.
Cheers from central FL!
I got that but unfortunately it's not only mineral and I'm allergic to the octinoxate.
Is it me or are you really echoing on this video
I have been using Sunbum mineral sunscreen for awhile now.. works perfect with my screen type. If you have only skin and large pores you should try it.
Have you tried the H‑E‑B tinted spf30? Really cheap only 10$ for 3 oz but I was wondering how it was
i have not
It’s very dark. Would be great for deeper skin tones.
I love that I have stepped up my spf game. Thanks for helping educate me. So excited to hear that sun protection is trending!
Ive tried several of the sunsceens mentioned here. My go to tinted sunscreen these days is Australian Gold Botanical 50
Tinted Face..
Where & how can you buy if in the US?
@@jolleenmacros8462 Ulta has it
it does leave me orange .. i think it'll depend on your skin tone. You got lucky lol
You say the best sunscreen is the one we’ll wear. If I bought one of those pricier sunscreens I would have an awfully hard time slathering it on.
Hey Dr Dray. Do you think any of these are beard friendly? Have a great Monday!
I’m obsessed with skin ceuticals physical fusion uv defense 💘
it is good
I love your reviews, I trust your opinions . Thank you for taking the time educate us on this subject.
My favorites are Murad city skin and Colorescience face shield.
My derm said I'm a Fitzpatrick type 1, and the tint of these actually works for me. Most tints are way too dark/brown/orange, but the pink/peach tones of these work for me.
Same! Everything looks bad on me because I'm so pale! So the color science face shield worked for u? Have u tried the matte?
@@mcookie0983 I haven't tried to matte! On the website the tint looked like it wouldn't work for me, so I've stuck with what I know works for me. And I use the powder sunscreen to bring down the shine, if needed.
Does the murad have any coverage? Like just to cover some redness
@@Sam-td6qd a little bit, yeah. Mostly people tell me my skin looks amazing when I wear it, but they don't really know why.
@@Roll587 thank you!
Same! I’ve ruined so many tshirts like this. Def use it on your face and a non-tinted on your neck. But even that can stain the neck of a tee. Ugh lol
Hey Dr 👩⚕️ D. ! Hope you’re day is wonderful. Thanks for another vid, and see ya tomorrow !! Hugs 🤗
