Great tutorial Liz. Very well explained and demonstrated. I didn't know the inhibition layer would cure when another gel layer was applied. This was perfect. Now I won't feel the need to cleanse the nail between each layer👍🙂💅. Thanks for sharing😀👏
Thankyou, thankyou 😊 finally a demonstration that gets right to the point! No annoying over talking 🙄. I so appreciate it. 😊
This is a life saver! Been curing my nails for the past 10 minutes wondering what I was doing wrong
Same 😂
Same here lol, first time ever doing my nails at home
I thought I was doing something wrong! Thank goodness this covered it fully.
Thank you for making this video. I do my nails at home with EBay products and would keep my nails under the lamp for a very long time because I thought the inhibition layer was a sign of an inferior product that took several minutes to cure.
Finally, this is the first time ever I understand whether or not I should wipe that sticky layer! You are amazing sharing this information with us. Thank you! I will continue watching you!
Thank you so much for this! I have been struggling trying to figure out why my nails weren't cured all the way in between coats. You saved my life! Love your channel! You are so informative and knowledgeable! I love that you share your expertise! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Thank you so much for this, I've had so much conflicting information that was never backed up by explanation. You are a star. Clearly explained so I totally understand what is happening. Thank you, thank you, thank you. :-)
Wow that finger looks so real. Thank you for the info
You are the only one who has explained the what & why about this subject. Thank you for doing doing a good job 👏
This was the best gel polish tutorial I've seen. Thank you. 🖤💅
Totally amazing life saver this girl!!
To be honest, I’m so happy I found your channel! Not only do I love your personality, your work and knowledge is the bread and butter to this whole thing! I came from suzies channel but I’m a gel tech (learned with acrylic in my early days but when I went gel, I never looked back lol) and she’s very knowledgeable about her work as well but I’ve learned so much on my gel technique from you and so much more! I love the “sciencey” part of it all! Thanks so much for making these videos! Ur awesome👻
Hey Liz, thank you for all of your videos, I really learned a lot from you. I'm not a professional nail tech, I dedicated to do my own nails after my nail lady canceled my appointment 2 days before my winter vacation trip to Poland, I figured that I'm a fast learner and I've seen her do my nails 10 times, so I can do it on my own. I remember what she was doing, so I googled what you need to do nails and I bought it all and without learning any more about it I did my own nails before the trip. The nails weren't perfect but they where OK for the first time. Then I found all the nail techs on UA-cam that where so informative like Suzie, Celina and Jessica nails, that helped a lot, but it wasn't until I found your Fundamental nail playlist that I really start to understand the nail process more. I've watched all of your fundamental nail videos and my nails are lasting a lot longer now. I mix my own cleanser like you suggested (only the highest alcohol % I could find in my county was 70%, not 90%, but I keep on looking). My nails look almost perfect thanks to your videos, the only problem I'm having now is that sometimes some of the nails are lifting (not long after I finish the set) I'm starting to think it is because I don't clean (prep) enough the nail before I put product on, I'm afraid to file to much so that I don't damage the nail bed... What do you think? How do you know you are filling off the dead cuticle and the natural shine and not the actual nail?
That's e question l keep asking too,now l just go around the cuticle with a cuticle pusher and scrape all the cuticle off the nail then use a e file cuticle bit but never use any pressure doing this. Rubbing your nails with acetone can also help as it can show up the imperfections of the nail and what needs to be removed.
Lifting could also be due to the layers of base coat, builder, polish etc are too thick. Use thin layers and see if that helps. Also prep is key. Make sure you clean cuticle area well and don't let any of the layers of polish etc touch the skin. Hope this helps
Very well explained! Thank you so much for sharing this video. I was confused about it! 💖💅🍁🍂
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! So amazingly explained and I’m so many ways for every learning type!
Thank you so much for producing this video about curing gel nail polish. I just recently purchased my first set of gel nail polish, lamp and uv protective gloves. I tried my new gel polish but hadn't yet received my base or top coat gel nail polish yet. Being that I couldn't wait I just had to try it on my nails to see how pretty they were. I didn't really realize that the base and top coats were so important. My uv lamp timed finished but my nails were of course tacky-sticky. I tried the plastic wrap trick. And, wola! It actually worked. So, thank you so much. Great, tutorial.
Thank you,
Tricia Rapstine
This. Is. The. Best. Explained. Video. Ever! Liz, you are th best. You just earned a new subscriber
Thank you Liz. You are fantastic, as usual. I didn't think to ask you about this, although I wasn't sure about the inhibition layer. I am glad somebody asked. Thank you for explanation❤
Huh! The more you know...Thanks for the explanation. I never worry about the sticky layer, but have wondered about the science behind it.
Your videos are fascinating as well as being educational! Understanding what is going on gives the desired results. Thank you
this was EXTREMELY helpful. thank you so much!
Omg my goodness thanks soooo much this was very very helpful! The illustration was helpful because I'm a visual learner.
Thank you so much for this video. Answered a lot of my questions.
Another great video! I love the ones where you really explain what’s going on chemically, instead of just a how-to.
I have a question about ingredients: I’ve heard some techs say HEMA is bad. Is it worse than other methacrylates for allergies or something like that?
For me this is the best way to explain how to do things . Can I have more like this please.
You are such a good teacher, and the drawings are especially helpful:)
Thank you so so much for taking the time to make these videos!
This is by far the most helpful video in my search for an answer to my question! This is the first video I've seen from you and I'm eager to learn more from you! My question is: if I clean the inhibition layer from my nails (base or color), will I need to buff the shine or reapply bonder to continue my gel mani? I believe the answer is no after watching this video. Correct me if I'm wrong!
Wow! Thank you for this!!! I thought I needed a new lamp! 😂
Gosh, I’m learning so much!
OMG! I’ve seen the light! Thank you for sharing!
I'm a DIY and I'm trying gel polish and I had no idea I seen so many videos and I would do it pop it in the lamp and thinking it was set and it be sticky thank you so much now I can use all the beautiful gel polish I just bought love God bless you IM GOING DO MY NAILS TODAY..LOL
Thank you! Your video was very clear and concise! I was always confused why sometimes people would cleanse the gel nails and sometimes they wouldn't... They must've been using a top coat that didn't need to be cleaned. Mystery finally solved! (lol)
I’m trying to figure out why after I cure I wipe it with alcohol so it’s not sticky anymore but it wipes off the actual gel that I just put on
Then it didnt cure. The question is why, are you using a 36watt lamp? And what kind? UV or LED?
@@Vixinaful a 36watt led/uv light isn’t gonna cure anything?
What watts will cure. I'm new at this
This happens to me as welli use a 48 watt lamp
You shouldn't wipe with alcohol until after the clear top coat. These inhibition layers help the next layer you apply adhere. If you wipe the color layer, you are likely removing some of the pigments that are mixed in to the gel.
So informational! Thank you so much! Amazing explanation 💗
The mannequin hand freaked me out in the beginning, i was like hhmmm..there's something wrong with your clients hand!! Anyway GREAT video! Thanks
😆😆😆
This video is so great and informative!!! Great teaching!!!
What a great video! Thanks for all you teach! You’re awesome!
I thought I saw you explain this in depth in you gel series... good info
Thank you for your explanation. For the longest time I thought it was like painting oil paint. With oil paint, you have to make sure the under layer is dry before adding the new layer or else the wet layer would trap all the moisture causing it to crack. The way you explained it made so much sense. I was putting my nail under the lamp for like 5 minutes and was wondering if I need a new lamp.
Glad it was helpful!
Thankyou Liz, very well explained and in detail.
You’re amazing at explaining this
I needed exactly this video. So well explained. Thanks!!!!
Thanks so much for this! I was very worried and you saved my life
This is great, I fixed one of my nails last night as it had a break in it and it’s my first time using the system I have, I panicked that it wasn’t cured enough!
Love the video, very informative 🌸👍🏾👍🏾
Very well explained as always great tutorial very informative
Omg WOW u are awesome and answered all my questions !!
This was sooooooo helpful! Thank you so much!
Thank you Liz.. Another lesson learned.
Very well explained. Thank you 😊
Really helpful video and easy to follow. Thanks
You are a life saver❤❤
😮 Great explanation!
Thank you for this it’s very very helpful. I thought I was doing something wrong.
Thank you so much! I was freaking out right now thinking I wasted my money lol!🥺🤗😆
Thank you Liz for sharing your wealth of information. I did my first DIY gels last night. I used the Kokoist bonding gel. But after curing, it was so sticky that I had a hard time putting on a slip layer of the builder gel. Can I wipe that stickiness off before applying the builder gel?
Thanks for this video. That's so helpful! I put a polygel overlay on over my natural nails for the first time yesterday. It came out GREAT! But I skipped topcoat b/c my goal is to have the polygel as structure for my weak nails as a base for regular polish. But I have a couple questions: 1) should I have used gel topcoat first? Would that be better before using regular nail polish? 2) Can I put a new layer of polygel on this layer of polygel even though I already removed the sticky layer? 3) Or, do I need to put a new layer of base on the current polygel first? Thanks so much!!!!
awesome demonstration! 👍 tfs!
Excellent tutorial helped me lots xx
Great video thank you answered all my questions
Thank you so much ! This helped a ton !
Amazing thanks for the detailed technical explanation ❤️
My pleasure 😊
Goddess of Gel 🙌
Thank you I have been waiting for this explanation and solution ! I thought something wrong with my gel I bought 😅
Thank you so much for this video❤️❤️❤️❤️
Very informative. Thanks!
Omg thankyou!!!! Why does no other gel tutorial say that it will feel sticky, but it's okay and continue adding colour?
I kept thinking something was wrong with the stuff I bought argh!!
Thanks for the explanation ❤️
so helpful! Thank you!
It would be great if you made a video about gel nail kit and all the tools needed to do gel nails..
I'm starting to do my own nails but I'm confused about the tools
Thanx.. 💜
I was wondering what made the sticky layer. Thank you.
Well explained,,I learnt alot from your video... 😁😁
Any suggestions on what to do if you get an allergic reaction.- . I love your videos. You explain things so well and I have learned so much.
This really helped thank you
Such a fantastic video! Does this theory apply to the new method of sticking full cover tips with the polygel underneath? That polygel is cured because it is covered with the tip?
I struggle to keep uncured gel off my skin...and have developed an allergy. Now what?! I'm so sad because I've gotten good at doing my nails but in the process I've developed gel allergy 😔 ps your videos are FANTASTIC. so educational. Anytime I need info or a question answered I look up your videos. 🙏
Super helpful thanks
THANK YOU LIZ!!😻
You are our Saviour with all the this precious information😇 #THANKYAABUNCH 🤩💅🏼🦋
Thanks for posting this! I tried gel for the first time and thought my lamp must not have worked so then I tried to wipe it all off and discovered the cured layer underneath 😔. Once I get to my top coat how can I get the inhibition layer off without getting it on my skin?
Hello, I find it easier to get nice even coats when I remove each sticky layer. Is that ok or does it make it less durable if I do that?
Very interesting Liz... I am understanding gel formulas a lot better now! Thank you for this clear explanation & demonstration! I have been doing my own gel mani’s for a couple months and I am obsessed. I am not fond of the LED/UV lamp but it’s not like I use it everyday or weekly. My last manicure I had on was a polygel overlay with gel polish for color. My goodness those lasted for 4WKS! After removing I applied regular gel polish and after the whole manicure (base, 3 thin layers, curing in between 30 sec) - I applied my no wipe top coat- and there was still that sticky inhibition layer!! I was freaking out because it’s a no wipe... so I was like what the heck 🤨🧐 so I moved on to my other hand and it did the same thing... so I kept curing and after curing for 2 MIN the sticky layer went away..... so now watching this video a week later, there must have been oxygen on my nail plate and now that I think back I did not truly prep my nails either.. I just pushed my cuticles back and went straight for the base.. usually I will buff the surface a little to remove shine, apply a dehydrator than apply base, I wonder if that was the problem!? 🤔😱🙄🙄 🙈😂 thank you again! Happy Thursday! 💕💕
Sounds like your lamp is not very powerful and it's not fully curing your product.
The Nail Hub I will look into that! It’s the first time something like that has happened with curing. I have a SUNUV 48 W & it usually cures everything including polygel.. so peculiar!
@@chasemurray2921 hey Chase! 👋I've had my favorite lamp "go out" on me ... had no clue until it didn't cure a brand we both love😉. Switched lamps bam perfect...also, watch out a batch (of our mutal fave ) the labels were switched on base and no wipe top coat ! It's happened twice now that I know of. Super sticky it's base coat in that brand. I've never seen their top bot be no wipe. 💜💖💜 production problems
Nails of Interest that is so weird?! Yeh I always buy the no wipe top coat! Just re did my nails with regular gel polish with base- 3 thin layers, 1 no wipe top coat and everything was fine and cured great. I really do believe it was because I didn’t prep my nails last time and went straight for the gel base lol! Hope your having a good week!
@@chasemurray2921 cool! Glad to know it's all ok!💜💖💜 Don't forget that alcohol or nail prep too!😉 been guilty of myself!!
Thank you
What is the cleanser you use to clean gel polish when finish?
what can i do /use to protect my skin around my nails and my fingers if im doing my nails myself? Since i cant wear gloves doing it myself
Very informative ❤ I recently became allergic to gel and was wondering if you have any tips on how you could help try to reserve it?
Stay away from HEMA concentrations over 5%. If you see it listed as the first or second ingredient in a gel then don't put it on. HEMA is causing lots of allergies in our industry.
Do you wipe the sticky layer off with nail polish remover?
amazing thanks
Hi
Thank you for your tips.
Question, have you ever had a gel nail polish that the pigment sinks to the bottom of the bottle?
I would have to stir it and it comes back the color.
Is this normal?
god bless you for posting this 💖💖💖💖🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much this was driving me nuts because mine won’t cure
Hi Liz!
I would like to know if the tacky layer on the color gels helps the second color coat/top coat to adhere better?
Because I’ve been trying to apply two layers of “no-wipe” color gel and and a top coat. What happens is that the layers don’t hold together. You can see how the upper layer lifts and breaks.
What are the pros and cons of the two different product properties?
Btw, love your channel! You give me so much important knowledge! :)
I love that you explain the process so clearly! But I have a doubt, what if the sticky layers of the colour gel polish have pigment in the residue? I mean, if you use a clear top coat, the brush is gonna get pigment on and you'll end up with a dirty top coat. What to do then?
This is exactly what I asked! This is why I wipe on the final color coat before top coat. I honestly feel like the wet product would contaminate the brush.
Hi Liz can you put gel polish on and regular polish on the same finger?
Can I use acetone since I don't have cleanser ?
What is the best product to use to clean the sticky layer from the top coat?
That was what I was going to ask
Super clear explanation :D thank you so much
I love is video thank you so much !! My question is when I use black gel I cure & cure but some of the color still wipes off?????
Some of the pigment may come off which is normal (and varies depending on the quality) but it should not be wet.
What about when using polygel, soft gel and hard gel to scult a full nail extension? Is it okay to remove the tacky inhibition layer of the base coat from the natural nail, and will it affect the final outcome?
this is great but what type of cleanser do you use?
She makes the cleanser. There’s a video on her channel :)
How to seal/cap natural nails? Mine always separate from the gel
