1- I DID NOT make up the order of the timeline... I took it from the BBC OFFICIAL VERSION, from 6x13 Confidential, it's exactly the same. I just added The Time of The Doctor, The Husbands of River Song, First Night and The Angels Take Manhattan.
2- I didn't add Rain Gods and Last Night because we don't know when they are set for River.
3- There isn't Melody's regeneration, but I added an annotation, it's the best I can do... sorry, I won't take down the video

OMG THANK YOU! Despite not watching Doctor Who, I have now fallen in love with River Song & want to buy all her episodes.
I actually met her last year at DragonCon. I dressed as the 11th Doctor and when I got to her table I yelled out "RIVER!" And then she yelled out "Husband!!!" Best day of my life!!! Lol then she asked if I had suspenders. I showed her and then nearly lost my eye as she pulled one of em and it popped off! Then Rory (who was there at an adjacent table) called out "Headline: River Song blinds fan!"

I thought I was prepared to meet her, I thought I had composed myself and wouldn’t fanboy... but damnit the second it was my turn to meet her, she whipped her head directly at me after taking a drink of coffee, looked me dead in the eye, and said “Hello Sweetie”....
I instantly turned into a blithering idiot. She laughed, I laughed, she signed a photo for me and a photo for my cousin (I nabbed one for her as a Christmas present, and she totally cried when I gave it to her), then she gave me the sweetest hug. Alex Kingston is a treasure.
Fangirling/boying is an unstoppable force.
Say what you will about Moffat, but this is hands down the best time-travel love story EVER written!

absolutely... that scene resonates so much more powerfully now than it did at the time... these videos of the timeline of River Song do her so much more justice than the bits and pieces we get of the character. This would be a decent made for TV movie if they expand it out to two hours, add in a few non-doctor who moments etc.

I like how in the Christmas special she was begging him to find a way to change time, but in the Library he was like "time can be rewritten" and she was like " not those time, not one line don't you dare" because she finally got her happy ending with the Doctor, 24 years worth of it.
It is also explains why 12 didn't try to save her, coz she already convinced him not to, all those years ago in the library when he was 10, and he knew he technically saved her anyway.
River needs a spin off show all about her adventures before she died.

River Song is one of my favorite characters in Doctor Who.
That being said, if we never see her again in the series, I'd be okay with that. The Husbands of River Song finally concluded her story arc by the Doctor giving her the Sonic Screwdriver and I can now rest easy since that finally happened. :)

+James Justus I think the ending left it open for her to come back if they really wanted to, as she could potentially reappear as long as it's at some point during her last 24 year night. On that note, I'd be happy either way, I love her character and I think it'd be great fun to have her back but this was quite the perfect ending.

She does have the chance to come back, but the problem there is that she told Ten that "The last time I saw you was on Darilium". Unless of course, we see a past version of her.

When you first see Silence in the Library, and Forest of the Dead you see it through the Eyes of the Doctor and that you get a hint of what their story was, and you felt the sadness but when you watch all of Rivers stories through out the series and then watch those two episodes again, your watching it though River's eye and your heartbreaks even more.
It's cool how River knew everything while we didn't, and they actually made everything she said come true. Even the screw driver part

I am just waiting for her to make her reappearance, cause we haven't seen where and when the Doctor tells her his name. Uhu x3 and when she introduces him to handcuff.
We'll likely never see River again -- her meeting with 12 is truly the "knot that ties the string" of their temporal interactions: she didn't recognize him, which meant she had no previous interactions with his (or later) incarnation(s), and he knows that their "date" (a 24 year-long relationship/marriage) is the last time that *he* will see "her* in his personal timeline. Moffat has pretty much wrapped up River's storyline. (She can, of course, re-appear a la' some anniversary special wherein things are done for the sake of getting some people back together, but that, too, is unlikely.) She referenced his telling her his name in TNotD, and that essentially relegates it to an off-screen occurrence (as is the case with most of their referenced interactions -- we only get a handful of "future hints" that play out onscreen, with most such references never occurring but left to the viewers' imaginations... as it should be... ;) ).

God, this is the most heartbreaking relationship to ever exist in the universe. Could you imagine living a life in which the love of your life as you know them gradually fades away from you, then finally doesn't know you at all? And then you realize that they've known when and where you were going to die the entire time they knew you. Ugh if I had two hearts they'd both be breaking.
Have you read The Time Traveller's Wife? It's a very similar idea and is where Steven Moffat got the idea from.

Husbands of River Song was Extremely satisfying, what I'd been looking forward to since the Library. The final date was almost exactly as I had imagined for close on 8 years. An older, calmer Doctor to Tennant. The screwdriver gift. The twilight romance viewing the towers. I had even pictured fairy lights everywhere, but mostly in the night sky. All of it was there. And how great were Twelve and River together!!
That part that's just before a Good Man Goes to War, the way River reacts to seeing Rory again, makes me believe that for her it's just after Angels Take Manhattan. Because, she's seeing her father again, after she just saw him die.
Well to be fair he dies a lot
With all the great characters Doctor Who has had over the years, including classic Who, to me, River Song was the greatest! Because of how they managed to entwine her in so many different stories, and create this unique mythology around her, that in the end actually made sense! I hope we get to see some more of her with the present Doctor! Of course I admit, part of what made her so good was who played her, Alex Kingston played her so wonderfully and with such sass and class at the same time, I can't imagine anyone else ever playing her! I still wish they would give her, her own series! Even a limited series would be wonderful!

"The Night and the Doctor" episodes are canon, and in fact 'First Night' is specifically referenced in 'The Husbands of River Song', when River speaks of the Doctor's constant cancelling of their dinner at the singing towers of Darillium, including "that time there were two of you".

What always annoyed me is that there's any easy way around visiting the Ponds in the 30s after they were zapped there by the Angels. Instead of landing the TARDIS in Manhattan, land it somewhere else close by, like in Newark, Brooklyn, Yonkers, or Weehawken and take a cab into town or something. The Doctor is smart enough to figure out public transit.

Some theorize that he actually did this, because in one episode Rory mentions leaving his watch somewhere, and he the next episode they're hiding in that place. I forget what the place was called, someone's bedroom.

yeah exactly. All the melodrama was kind silly since there are plenty of loopholes to the whole "Can't enter manhattan" thing. Hell, the doctor could just send River back to pick them up if he cant do it!
Ok, no, that's disproven, as River uses the TARDIS to travel.
Its crazy, how when you watch the series the first time through, her death is sad yes, but you have NO idea the impact she has on the story. When you get to the towers, it all rushes back, and you can't help but go back to the library as well, and watching her for the last time really, really conveys emotions we just don't get normally, then she gets one last goodbye with the man she loves, truly one of the most amazing, tragic, beautiful love stories there ever was and ever will be.
So 12 gave River that xmas sonic gift, so that later (from her perspective) the 10th Doc can pick it up and use it to save her.... nice time loop there

at the time, we were all asking the same question. River's identity being a complete unknown, yet she knew him better than he knew himself to a certain degree. She was more of a mystery than a character. But, now after seeing their adventures together, their love story, 12 and River's night on Derillium, etc.

There are a few times that an actor and a role coincide in such a way that it is just perfect...Alex Kingston and River Song is an example.

I had almost forgotten the scene where she was uploaded into that library, that is the first time we see her isn't it? After watching that scene at the singing tower and then seeing the library scene, it's really sad that the doctor knew how and when she was gonna go the whole time. I never really thought about it when watching. I feel like watching the series again, keeping in mind how the doctor knew all along how it's going to end.

the scene with 10th just break my heart
The sad thing is river can't come back. Husbands is the last place we'll ever see. Because he can't show up after at all, the last time she saw him was the towers before ten, also can't be before because she thinks he only has 12 faces, but he wouldn't have any of those faces she'd have to not know who he is for the entire episode which would really suck.
+Cowslayer6789 Actually, in Husbands she indicates that she has taken the TARDIS and returned it several times without the Doctor being aware. So it's possible.
but they cant interact each other, because the doctor would have a face she can't recognize, and can't tell here that he got a new cycle because in husbands she thinks he only has one.

BlaBlaBla Noodles depends which type of years they mean. Good point though, as 10 only lived for like 6 years, and 8 for one movie.

Davies and Moffat have both stated that we only see a tiny fraction of the Doctor's adventures. 9 lived for over 100 years, we just didn't see most of his adventures. 11 lived for something like 1100 years. Anytime you see the TARDIS disappear, and the camera is not inside it, the Doctor could be going anywhere, and spend any amount of time there he wants (even centuries) before the next episode starts. It is a time machine after all.
Part of me never was comfortable with the fact that River's last outing from our POV was with the Twelfth Doctor, and her last outing from her POV was with the Tenth Doctor, especially since she shared such a profound bond with Eleven. But I completely forgot that her last moments were with the Eleventh Doctor as an echo, which seems like a fitting end to the character. Spends 20 years with 12, dies with 10, and fades with 11. It really is beautiful.

you forgot the scene where young astronaut becomes young melody, you know, the regeneration scene in the astronaut episode at the end.
+Nicolas Harrison Actually, the product of that regeneration is not the melody in let's kill hitler, since it was in 69/70s which would make melody over 40. It would have to been an intermediate regeneration, which would have had to travel to england and die in/near Ledworth in order to meet amy/rory in the 90s.

She says as shs's regenerating from mels to river "the last time i did this, i ended up a toddler, in the middle of new york." you're probably right about it being an intermediate regeneration, but then that throws in to question why she'd live to about her 30s, then regenerate back into a toddler in new york, then somehow grow up again and travel to england. I want to know what happened there.
My theory up till this point is after she regenerated, she was just picked up by Madam Kovarian and dropped into ledworth straight afterwards, but was still left to find Rory and Amy.
+Scotty M She's half human. The regeneration may be a little different for that reason alone.
+xoAllonsy She's totally human who gained the ability to regenerate because of being conceived while the Tardis was traveling through the time vortex. I think. But she's completely human.

I haven't watched Doctor Who in such a long time, I think was sometime in the middle of Capaldi's first season. Just out of curiosity I watched this and it brought tears to my eyes years after I stopped watching.
I wonder how many people realize that when she sees the Doctor's death as an invited guest, she knows perfectly well what's going to happen. She tries to stop herself from saving the Doctor but she can't, so after his death she actually tries to kill the astronaut. I just realized she knew she was killing herself and she didn't care because she didn't deserve life after hurting the Doctor
