Fixed this issue by opened the top part - Please note that all screws has to be removed even the circle part behind the wheel. After opened the top part find the small white bearing and grease them up. I also hit the belt with grease which made the wheel even smoother :P I guess giving the wheel some grease from time to time will help
@@walkinlast I had mine for 4 years and spent over 2k hours on it. Worked fine untill the x button stopped working, it got so worn out it just stopped.
@@stormsdetailing6425 I had to fix my wheel many, many times. Everything from ffb not working properly to weird noises like this. I honestly regret not getting the Logitech G920 or something like that. Honestly this wheel has pretty poor build quality from my experience and it wasn't worth it for me.
@@walkinlast yes, the force feedback system isn't very good either, I had a tjrustmaster t300 rs gt edition for about 10 months now, it's ok, the force feed back is nice but where the screws are it's starting to rust. I'm disappointed because the wheel itself feels hogh quality
Its probably like a 50/50 if you t150 works good or not, some have it for years and nothing goes wrong and they love it, others (me too) hate it cuz it get problems after a few months (mine has gear problems and its driving me nuts, i am saving up for a direct drive wheel just so i never have to deal with that shit no more lol)
Interesting... Ive had mine for a while and never had this issue but I will be looking out for it if this does happen... I do want to say though for anyone on the fence about these wheels I love my T150. It has to be one of the best wheels for the price range even compared to the Logitech line I still prefer the Thrustmaster more. I have a logitech G29 I dont even hardly use because the T150 just feels better... Its hard to explain. Even though the Logitech is much newer and much more expensive. I have a couple of newer more expensive sim wheels and its crazy how I still come back to this old T150 I've had for 5 years now.. I also like the force feedback much better than the Logitech. It feels much cleaner. (my opinion)
@@JayAnimationsB3D the Logitech is about the same honestly. I like the force feedback much more on the T150 and the T150 does feel cheaper made but it's still my preferred wheel over the Logitech. I like using the Logitech on games like trucking sim. It varies from game to game which is why I have a few wheels. 🤣
Smart to have more than one wheel. TM feels more like straight forward racing type wheel, and very simple, while logitech offers something more like what would be in an actual car. I've never had a wheel with ffb, but if I were to choose it would be TM.
HOW TO FIX Hi all, I've bought used T150 for a good price, and in fact, after some hours to play with it, I've started to hear this noise when I turn fast the wheel and the FFB force in opposite direction. This noise come from the belt. She "slipping" ( and premature wear...). It due as a misalignment of pulleys belt (approximately 3mm !) . The motor pulley seem not insert completely (or maybe not in a good sens). To fix it, I've open it, remove the wheel, the PCB (unplugged all connectors), removed all the screws underneath to extract only the steal chassis with the motor, gears and wheel axe. Remove the plastic face to have access a better access to the belt. First step, I've more insert the motor pulley on the motor axe by choc the pulley (careful, don't damage the pulley) and but the back motor axe on somthing hard to avoid any motor bearings damage. But it was not enough for have a well alignment. Second step, release the belt tensioner, remove both screws who fix the motor on the support and add flat washer or cardboard between the motor and the steal support until both belt pulleys have a good alignment. Assemble all in inverse step (do not forgot to tension the belt, not too hard, not too low). I've spent 2h for this (time to analyse and find how fix it). And for the moment, I can turn very fast the wheel without this noise, all works well ! If your belt is too worn, maybe you can find it on the web for a good price (cheaper than bought a new wheel !). Sorry if my english is approximately, not easy to explain that.
Or do what I did and put it together with a few cardboard spacers between the motor and the metal plate it's mounted to. I came across this recently and tried hammering the motor pulley in, but couldn't get it to move using the tools I have on hand. So far, the cardboard spacer on the motor has worked perfectly, and force feedback is bidirectionally even and butter smooth. In fact, it feels significantly better than it felt out of the factory, because I combined this fix with the pulley removal mod by super_gt on the gtplanet forums.
@@kmemz can you explain more? I had my wheel for 2 months and then the noise started, its still a bit silent so not that big of an issue. I decided to play 50% ffb after today. Anyway i'd be more than thankfull if you explain what you did exactly to fix it because i can't find any belts to replace mine atm
@@ryz3n_ The two screws that hold the motor in, loosen them. then, jam a few pieces of rectangle cut cardboard on either side of the motor, top and bottom. Make sure to slide them in in sets of two, so the belt doesn't try to drift in the direction the shaft is tilted. Tighten to crush the cardboard, rinse and repeat with layers until the belt is no longer riding against the base of the gear, where it fins out. The better solution would be to actually press the gear further back on the shaft by holding the motor against a table and pressing it with a socket or something, though not all the way back as it will introduce friction. I look to fix mine with a press as soon as the toolset is available to me.

@@ryz3n_ It's not a guarantee that your belt/gear position is the issue. I would recommend popping the topcase off of it and inspect for belt dust, as well as see if the belt is riding right up against the rim of the motor gear. If it is, back it off using the cardboard method, you can look into pressing the gear later. If you leave it like that for too long, it could chew the belt up over time. I'm just glad I figured it out before my belt got chewed too much. Backing it off both reduced friction by a lot and resulted in almost no new rubber dust last time I opened it. I've even done the friction free mod where you remove the tensioning wheels and the studs they're on, which would normally increase wear with the belt being tensioned directly on the motor gear, but there's basically no wear compared to before I even started modding this wheel.
I've had mine for 5 years, works like a gem. Just upgraded to the T300 and the difference is huge lol, you really appreciate how the notchiness of the T150 is replaced by a buttery smooth belt system
Mine developed a similar noise after several years of use. I removed the top casing and noticed that the belt looked a little misaligned. I cured it by pushing the cog back onto the motor shaft. I guess it worked itself slightly outwards with use.

georgealex19 yes the other choice was the g920 for me but finally I bought the tmx pro because of the pedals and I read a lot of good comments of the wheel itself but I’m kinda disappointed now about it. I have it for about two weeks now and there’s already some problem with it. I’m disappointed in the Thrustmasters brand. But I’m sure my next wheel is not gonne be a wheel which has gear mechanism for sure. It has more problems I think. But now I’m gonna use my tmx and i hope it doesn’t get worse.
Problems with belt i think, to low pressure and skip motor steps, try to fast rotate, if u feel what ffb gettry turning the steering wheel sharply with the centering turned on, if you feel that the steering wheel has stopped resisting for a second, the point is the belt tension is 99%. if there is no such noise during very slow rotation, disassemble and tighten the belt, or replace the two belt tension rollers with bearings, this will make the steering wheel smoother and eliminate the problem of erasing the tension rollers
I do not know what it will be. But are not those plastic sprockets that are worn out like that? Mine is not the same but little breca and makes that noise turn to the same side as this one
if the pro i think both is very close to each other, if the 2 pedal version, the g29/g920 way better, i think you should get what you get for a better price.
@Wow so good well neither was the 360 or the 360 controller but I had to change my dead disc drive and fix my sticks many times...stuff isn't made to be user maintainable but you still have to if you want quality of life, without spending hundreds rebuying the product new, I see it as more of a problem of people are lazy and dislike learning about the products they buy to repair them, but people should accept that learning about the issue and fixing it is much more beneficial than the easy way out...not just in learning about that specific product to fix it, but the knowledge gained to fix anything with some soldier and a soldiering iron and maybe a few 1$s here and there for a belt or screws or stick modules or something much less expensive than a 500$ wheel or a 300$ console or a 60$ controller.....these wheels as others have said are built with rubber belts which are just not built to last and never will, the higher end steering wheels have bicycle chains inside which will break your arms if you are not careful with the settings, I'm sure you could mod these if you change out the internals to be sprockets and add a chain instead of belt rollers...you saying this simply should not happen would only be accurate if the OP bought a good steering wheel, knowing the internals, is something a buyer should beware of, and know.

HOW TO FIX
Hi all, I've bought used T150 for a good price, and in fact, after some hours to play with it, I've started to hear this noise when I turn fast the wheel and the FFB force in opposite direction.
This noise come from the belt. She "slipping" (
