I follow a lot of Americans on UA-cam that do this work. What I've noticed is that you trim hedges and plants and whatever needs trimming. They just butcher everything. They literally chop everything down. Thank you for not doing that. This looks amazing. Great job 👏👏🙏❣️
Thank you for this, I appreciate it 🙏 I'm glad you like the more purposeful gardening 😁 slow and steady wins the race, apparently 😅 Thanks again for the kind words. Martin
A lot of the American ones are mowing/clearing services. And they do a great job of cleaning up overgrown properties; however, they neither claim to be - nor are they - gardeners (a whole 'nother level of skill!).

I just discovered your channel and will be watching all of your videos backward to the beginning. You have your work cut out for you in this garden as she said lots of invasive plants here. I'd love to watch part 2 of this yard. I'm in Green Bay, WI, USA. I'm handicapped now, but before I was an avid gardener and maintained 3 properties. I can't do that anymore so I watch those that can on UA-cam. I also agree that lawn guys here in the US butcher everything they don't know. It makes me want to scream at them. They also don't understand how to cut down very overgrown shrubs that will come back once cut down severely nor the difference between a scrub and a bush. I know it's not in their understanding or knowledge level to know gardening, but they should have some basic knowledge. I try to forgive but it's hard. I love when you tell us the kinds of plants you find. On camera, it's hard for us to see what kind of plants they are so you informing us is wonderful. Please do more of that either on-screen or voice-over. When you find a Jem under something do you move it to a new home or toss it? Moving gems is how I filled in many of my garden beds. Do you have to educate and ask your clients about what you're doing or do they trust your judgment? Just wondering. I love your work and I find most of my favorite garden shows are abroad. Keep up the great work Martin. ❤
Oh, hi, I have only just seen this comment. Thank you very much. I'll try and answer your questions. Most of my paid clients do actually give me total autonomy in their gardens. Most I've been doing for years. And the free community work I do is pretty much the same. I suppose their just happy I'm helping them out 😅 I've never been keen on totally wiping out a garden, Most of the I believe you simply don't have to. Even when it's crazy overgrown. Greetings from Nottingham. Thanks 😊 I'm glad you enjoyed it. More will be coming 👍 Also, I'm glad you liked their garden, it's was a particularly nice little one. All the best Martin.
Yeah, it was a wonderful little garden. Quite well planned out (other than the bamboo) 😂 You're right though, a little TLC and it'll be back to full vibrance 😁
This garden felt like a Kiwi / New Zealander may have featured in its past. Cabbage trees, ferns and toetoe. I also love the undulating hedge, its a real point of difference.
Your totally right, that's definitely how it felt. Lots of native plants mix in with some sub tropical plants. It's quite a nice combination and definitely reminded me of my travels in New Zealand 🇳🇿 ☺️ Thank you for the message ❤️ Martin

It looks like the botanical gardens. LOL Beautiful job with the hedge trimming! The shrubbery looks intimidating. If you collaborate with the owners, you might consider deshrubbing, which might make the gardening more manageable.
Hi, thanks for the comment. Yeah, I agree about the shrubs. They definitely need a vast reduction. The bamboo worries me, though 😅 I'm not sure it's really a low maintenance garden for people who (at the moment)aren't that keen on gardening 🤣 but we'll see. I live in hope 😁 Thanks Martin
Cheers 🍻 👍 Yeah, it was a busy little garden 😅 hopefully I'll get it whipped into shape. It always seems like there's more to do in a garden 🤣 Thanks, as always Martin 👍
What a lovely transformation, a very tropical looking garden with not a flower in sight .who needs flowers when you can have different shades of green .
Awesome! You couldn't be more right 😁 green is a wonderful color 😍 it's a very well designed and thought of garden. If not a little high on the maintenance side. Thank you
I have seen many videos but the way you do beautiful and clean work is amazing. I felt that you work from the heart. We will always encourage you. Thanks! Badshah from Pakistan 🇵🇰
I LOVE the scalloped hedge! What fun! Great job with all the pruning! The couple may want to take out the bamboo before ti completely takes over the yard. It is terribly aggressive, spreading through the roots. You can already see that it has spread in to another area from where it was planted. If not removed, it will try to turn the entire yard in to a bamboo thicket! We call them non-native invasives here, plants that are not native and spread easily. That pampas grass in the front corner is another invasive here. Takes over ditch banks all over, out-competing native plants that support the wildlife and insects.
Yeah, as usual you're not wrong 😊 I'm not sure why anyone would plant it in the ground. It was hard to see, but it was even popping up in the driveway. About the pampas grass, I feel like I've spent hundreds of hours digging up this plant over the years 🤣 it can put up a hell of a fight. It's far worse than any tree I've ever taken out. Thanks for the comment 😊 Martin
Oh wow, your very kind. Thank you 😊 I don't see it myself, but I'll take your word for it 😂😁 Thanks again, truly appreciate kind comments like this. All the best Martin.
Tim from Canada. I could sure use some bags like that for my yard cleanup they do not sell anything like that here in Canada even if it was just you bring it from one area to another those bags look really important. For use in yardwork. …
Hello Canada, greetings from Nottingham. You are right. Those bags are totally awesome. I find you can fill them up with waste, and they stay light enough to still move by hand. Also, they are quite tough 👍😊 You should try and check out Amazon, I'm sure you'll find them on there. Let me know how you get on 👍 and thanks for the comment, Tim. Much appreciated. All the best Martin
Haha, thank you. I don't get chance to do them very often anymore. Scalloped hedges just don't seem to be that popular anymore 😢 Thank you for the comment 😊 Much appreciated. Martin.
Very enjoyable video. You had a little bit of everything to do. Loved the scallop of the hedge which gives it a contrasting look instead of the dull flat you usually see. Disappointed that they had yucky bamboo in their lovely garden. You did a great job keeping it under control.
Oh, thank you 😊 Yeah, it was a little bit of everything 😅 I like it though. I never get chance to get bored. I know, that bamboo is going to be a pain. The only nice thing about it, was I managed to cut a few canes for next years tomatoes in my own garden 😂😂
I try my best 😊 next year I'm going to start secretly throwing down handfuls of wild flower seeds in random gardens 😂 and putting up bug hotels everywhere. I try and get gardens quite tidy, without eliminating everything that helps wildlife. Its a fine line! Thanks for the cool comment Much appreciated Martin.
I imagine the previous orchestrator/s of this lovely, almost exotic back garden have many fond memories of design, planting, watching growth, planning future additions. Undoubtedly, the new owners will appreciate your care, accuracy, hard work and gathering up of tree branches, green waste and debris blown in from the street. A serene, comfy and peaceful respite for them. Thank you, Martin, for sharing with us. 🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊
You are so right! 👍 it was obviously very well planned and cared for. The old owners definitely had a good eye for a beautiful garden. The quality is for all to see. With only one exception, I wouldn't have planted bamboo or pampas grass! 🤣 This is the front garden, when I do the back garden it'll blow your mind. Exceptional, is all I can say about it. Anyway, thank you kindly for the lovely comment. It's certainly appreciated. You must also have a keen eye for beautiful gardens. 😊
Oh wow, you're lucky too 😊 Cornwall in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful places in the UK. To say it's the same country, the plants are so different down there. Especially St. Michael's Mount area. ❤️
Thanks, my grandad used to say a good gardener can use anything as a tool and make do. Fortunately, I've never had to put this to the test 🤣 Thanks again Martin
I believe that’s tree of heaven (Ailanthus altissima) that you cut up in the beginning of the video. Very invasive here in the USA. You do such a beautiful job giving these gardens a new life!
Lovely garden…looks like it used to belong to an older generation. You did a great job & hopefully the young couple can look after it. There’s a few plants I’d remove if I were they. Thanks Martin. x
What a cute garden that is! 😍It's quite cozy even though it sits by a busy road. I prefer more quiet spots myself, so that I can forget there is a world out there! I try to shield out the traffic with a fence, a hedge, trees that dip below the view-line if I can. I need to fix that problem out front at "Pork-Chop Hill" (🤣The one spot Momma couldn't get much to grow... it was her nemesis! Any time she'd get ready to weed it, she'd say I'm off to "The Battle of Pork-Chop Hill"! To this day, it will always be known for that!) I can see right through to the road with only one house between it and us, There's a big-ole gas station beyond the road I can see! EWWWW!!! 🤢 Who wants THAT to be in their view?? I cringed at their Bamboo.. our neighbor has a stand that's been running under our shared fence, and it pops up everywhere! Here in the PNW it is a rabid grower and a thorn in my side. I loved their undulating hedges you trimmed up so beautifully, and their lawn is petite and sweet. There wasn't a back yard I'm guessing... You did a fantastic job as usual, Martin. You always do! Well, I'm back out to the Potager now, and I'm half-way done. I could barely move when I was done the other day, so I begged off yesterday and watched my Art videos. (I'm a mixed media artist.) I felt like such a lazy-butt though. At least the weather was questionable. Today however the sun is pouring into our Lakewood Washington yard at "Dove's Nest". (It's what Momma & Daddy named their property here.) Wish me luck! 💛🖤💛 Stacy
I love what you did with this garden - especially the hedge! It looks amazing and so much better than just straight across the top. I'm sure the new homeowners will love it (I just hope one of 'em has the skill to keep the top of the hedge the same!).
I hope they do as well 😂 this garden certainly won't be forgiving if it's let go. I'll probably be contacting them soon, just to check everything is OK in the garden. I do get a little bit too connected sometimes when I work in a garden 😁😅
Thank you, this one was a real eye opener 😊 it's was a really nice garden to work in. Plus, it was lovely weather 😂 it's feels like ages since the sun shone like that 😁
If that’s Japanese bamboo around the 20:00 minute mark, good luck to them. Those things are lovely to look at but if you give them a chance, they’ll cause havoc and are impossible to eradicate. I fight with them constantly in my garden here in Japan!😂
Greetings from Nottingham, Japan ❤️ Yeah, it's definitely not my favorite garden plant. People have known for many years that it's not something they should be putting in the ground. Yet they still do, and garden centers keep selling it. At least it's slightly better than Japanese Knotweed 🤣 Beautiful plant, but it needs to stay in its natural setting. I.e. being eaten by Panda 🐼 🤣 Thanks for the comment Very much appreciated 😊 🙏
A lot of the people that are helping others for free becuz the owner is either sick, died or can’t afford to do it. Al BLADEZ helps a lot of people for no pay. Martin does an awesome job. Although he is doing much smaller yards/gardens. He does an awesome job himself and he loves what he does!
Haha, totally right. If they don't now....they sure will. I think they are really keen on learning to be fair. I'll definitely give them a few pointers 👍😁 Thanks Martin
That's an old, well established garden!. The lawn was in pretty good condition considering. You made it look really attractive again. Also, that is a big garden to maintain, especially when you're a young couple who dislikes gardening!! Well done to you 👏 👌👌😊😊😊
Thanks 😊 it's still a work in progress, though. I'm hoping that with my influence, this couple may start trying their hand at a bit of gardening 😁🤞 especially when he's back to full fitness. Thanks again, Hope you have a great weekend. Martin
Superb results for your hard work Martin, well done. The young couple must be extremely pleased.Bless you & Thank you for helping them. Great gardening equipment & great video to, cuz ' there is no aggravating music playing. Thank you Martin .
Cheers, I appreciate it 🙏 👍 😊 I'm glad you aren't keen on aggravating music. I find there's something strangely therapeutic about the sound of an engine. Even electric motors like the ones I use 😁 mixed with the sound of being outdoors. Anyway, thanks for the message. P.s don't check out my Short Videos, they may have annoying music on them 🤣😁
I wonder if Bird of Paradise would live over there. Lily of the valley grows here in the Desert of AZ and Chicago and survives the -30 to -70 below zero winters. Just like crocus.
Oh yeah, you're totally right. Much longer and it would have been a full garden clearance. And as you say, the basic structure would have gotten too hard to rescue. Thanks for the comment 😊👍
Oh, hi David. Cheers I appreciate it ☺️ he'll be happy enough I hope. Although still more to do 😅 gotta get those borders weeded and edged properly. Plus, finish off the hedges and shrubs. Thanks again Martin
Hi Martin, I watch Ben and his Dad on Flawless Cleaning Services UA-cam channel, they use the 1 ton bags like you but have made a frame that goes inside and holds the corner handles, looks to be made from CLS timber, might be worth you checking out. Some beautiful well established plants in this garden, I love the waves on the hedging. Fantastic transformation ❤
Hi, thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it 😊👍thanks for the tip as well, about the bags. I actually have a wire loop that does the same thing. I made it years ago, but I never remember to use it. I think I just like making life more difficult 🤣 it gets about as much use as the knee pads I brought (but never use) to protect my knees. Thanks again Excellent comment Martin
Oh yeah, people love the scalloped hedge. Lots of comments about it, I like it to 😁 although its doesn't seem as common nowadays as it used to be. Its certainly far easier than putting right angles on old hedges 😂 Thanks Martin.
That bamboo needs to go. It’s a beast to get rid of. So odd to see plants we have in So California thriving and invading there. Hopefully they’ll realize the ivy needs to come out of the tree along with bamboo and pampas grass. It’s a pretty garden - just needs the owner to spend some money getting it in order. It would keep you busy! 🎉😊
Greetings from Nottingham, California. Haha, you are right, of course. About the pampas and bamboo, but I'm sure not taking it out 😅 I'm getting too old for that sort of malarkey 🤣 that's a young man's game. It's a lovely garden, though, as you say, a little bit nore TLC, and it'll be sorted. Correct about the ivy to 👍 its definitely needs a reduction. Thanks for the comment Appreciated 👍😊
Great garden transformation! Now I know why I don’t like bushes that need to be sculpted rather than just trimmed. It looks like great exercise to do it but mowing lawns, trimming and edging is where I draw the line lol.
Haha, can't blame you for that mate. I'm not great at sculpting shrubs beyond copying what someone has already done in the past. I'm more of a planting guy 😊 and growing vegetables and fruits. Thanks for the comment Martin
Have you considered running a mulching mower over your prunings to condense them even more before bagging? Thanks for the video, looks great! Love the scallops!
Yeah, I actually do quite a bit. But these bags were getting emptied quite quickly, and because of the guys operation, I tried to keep them quite light. You are right, though. It saved lots of space. Plus, it's a cracking way to prepare compost and leaf mold 👍I have a really old Briggs and Stratton 35 for this, it's a though litte mower 😁
That looks like a high maintenance lawn. You did a lot of trimming. Some of their plants looked tropical, like small palm trees. One question, where do you find those large square containers? They look disposable. Another great job! 👍
Oh, hi, the big bags I actually got on Amazon. Looked after, they actually last for years and years. They are very handy 😀 it means I can fill them up and still drag them around easily. P.s yeah, loads of sub tropical plants in this garden. Most are quite hardy though. Thanks for the comment Much appreciated Martin.
Just found your channel…new subscriber….can’t wait to watch the rest of your videos…lovely garden now after your tender love and hard work…I live in southern Ontario Canada…where are you located….
Greetings Canada 🇨🇦 all the way from Nottingham, England 🇬🇧 thanks for the comment. Much appreciated 🙏 ☺️ I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It's great to hear from someone so far away ❤️ All the best Martin
Hi Martin Would you call that garden a formal style in England with the plants cut into hedges and rounded shapes? Do you have clients who like the more natural look with plants allowed to grow without so much shaping? Interested to know Thank you 🦘❤️❤️❤️
Hi Some people would call if formal, and others not. I think it's more personal taste than a given style. To me, formal gardens are lots of well-kept box hedges/or similar and symmetrical shapes and paths. Like what you'd see on old colonial estates. But that's my opinion 😊👍 I do have quite a few clients who like a more wild garden and many that have cottage garden styles. But eventually, every hedge or shrub will need cutting back (in a standard garden). Otherwise, there'd be no space 😆 And then you have to decide how to trim it, it'd be really difficult to trim a shrub that looked natural, definitely beyond my skill level 🤣 Fantastic question though, it got my brain cells working 🤣
@@martinthegardenguy Thanks for your reply ❤️ I understand in small gardens plants would need to be pruned often as space doesn’t allow them to grow freely I belong to Hurstbridge Garden Club , forty kilometres NE of the city, many members have larger properties and plenty of garden area and only slightly prune My garden is not large compared to others in the club so I tend to grow bushes that don’t have a large growing habit so I can keep their natural shape with little pruning We open our gardens to other members and we share cuttings, as a matter of fact most of my garden plants have been propagated from cuttings over the last 14 years we have lived here I love your Channel and best wishes for the future Maria 🦘❤️❤️❤️
Honestly, I couldn't ever imagine a scenario where I'd plant it in the ground. I'm not actually that keen on it either 😂 I like the dwarf ones with smaller leafs and stems. Be even then, I'd put them in pots 😂
Great job Martin 👏 looks awesome. Just asking why didn't you cut the ivy growing up the tree it will kill the tree. Sorry just a thought. ❤ From Canada 🇨🇦
Greetings Canada 🇨🇦 all the way from Nottingham 🇬🇧. Thanks for the comment 👍 much appreciated. You make a great point about the Ivy. Most people think it actually harms trees, but it doesn't do any harm at all, especially if the tree is healthy. It does look unattractive to some, but personally, I love it. It's actually not a true parasite, as it needs roots in the ground to survive. I like to keep it out of borders, however, as it can easily swamp out smaller plants. It's quite an important habitat for 100s of creatures. Especially late year food for pollinators. Hope you begin to love the Ivy like me 😊 Thanks again, all the best, Martin.
Yeah, it got left in.....no way I'm tackling that monster. I'm too old 🤣 Although, so far, it doesn't seem to be causing any massive problem. It's not something I would plant in the ground. I have a few dwarf varieties in containers. But generally speaking, it's on my lost on "never plant" plants 😅🤣 Cheers Martin
Cheers 🍻 👍 To be fair, there's never going to be enough time to do everything. I do what I can in the time I've got. The borders and rest of the shrubs will be done on the next visit 👍
Wow! Fantastic job of pruning, trimming, and cutting 💯👍🏅 job well done .👍💯👍

I love your work keep the videos coming he did a tremendous fantastic job. Thank you.
Thank you, what a lovely comment.
It's really appreciated.
Happy New Year
Martin.
This is the front garden, when I do the back garden it'll blow your mind. Exceptional, is all I can say about it.
Anyway, thank you kindly for the lovely comment. It's certainly appreciated.
You must also have a keen eye for beautiful gardens. 😊
Fantastic job done and what a lovely garden xx
Thank you 😊 ❤️
Yes, it's was lovely. I'm very lucky 👍and the weather was even nice 😁
@@martinthegardenguy Yes, we’re getting some great weather down in Cornwall at the moment xx
Oh wow, you're lucky too 😊 Cornwall in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful places in the UK.
To say it's the same country, the plants are so different down there. Especially St. Michael's Mount area. ❤️
@@martinthegardenguy Yes I agree and always feel blessed to have been born and bred here but England as a whole is beautiful imo xx
You did a great job, especially with few tools. 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks, my grandad used to say a good gardener can use anything as a tool and make do.
Fortunately, I've never had to put this to the test 🤣
Thanks again
Martin
The way you shaped that huge shrub at 17:58 reminds me of Blossom, the huge red, hairy monster in the Bugs Bunny cartoon! All it needs are sneakers! 😂
I believe that’s tree of heaven (Ailanthus altissima) that you cut up in the beginning of the video. Very invasive here in the USA. You do such a beautiful job giving these gardens a new life!
Oh, thank you 😊 🙏
A fantastic job on a beautiful garden! 😊❤
Thank you 😊 🙏
What a whimsy garden! LOVE IT!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Haha, thanks for the comment. You're right, it's was very whimsical 😂 I'd never design a garden like this, but I'm really glad someone else did 😊
I love this garden for sure!! Very nice!
Whoa, how cool
The flowers garden looks wonderful and the plants and shrubbery looked wonderful.
Oh, thank you 😊 very lovely thing to say.
I like the wavy look of the hedges. This is a fun garden
💛🖤💛 Stacy
Best of luck Martin 😉🐸😉😉 Looks good and great garden 👍🤗 have a lovely weekend ☺️🇩🇰
Why, thanks so much 🇩🇰 hope you have a great one too 😊
All the best from England ❤️
Good job finally a video with no drama 👍
Oh, thanks 😊 well, no drama as yet 🤣 but with me, you never know 😁
NOw that's what I call a transformation. Awesome job!
Cheers mate 👍 much appreciated.
Glad you enjoyed the video 😊
I love what you did with this garden - especially the hedge! It looks amazing and so much better than just straight across the top. I'm sure the new homeowners will love it (I just hope one of 'em has the skill to keep the top of the hedge the same!).
I hope they do as well 😂 this garden certainly won't be forgiving if it's let go. I'll probably be contacting them soon, just to check everything is OK in the garden.
I do get a little bit too connected sometimes when I work in a garden 😁😅
Beautiful yard again
Thank you, this one was a real eye opener 😊 it's was a really nice garden to work in.
Plus, it was lovely weather 😂 it's feels like ages since the sun shone like that 😁
That was fun to watch. I used to do a pretty good job myself. Thank you sir.
Thank you 😊 👍 we do what we can, when we can.
I'm really glad you liked the video, and I appreciate the comment.

Martin 👍
That was lots of work all the pruning bet the owners love it did a good job.
Thank you so much 😊 yes, they were happy. It's not even finished yet either.
Best wishes
Martin 👍
After your lovely job we need jumping in to clean all hard surfaces 😊
Haha, I bet you'd do a grand job mate 👍
No no we’re friendly pricing jobs
"Grand Job" as in "great job"...not the cost of the job 🤣
😂😂😂
If that’s Japanese bamboo around the 20:00 minute mark, good luck to them. Those things are lovely to look at but if you give them a chance, they’ll cause havoc and are impossible to eradicate. I fight with them constantly in my garden here in Japan!😂
Greetings from Nottingham, Japan ❤️
Yeah, it's definitely not my favorite garden plant. People have known for many years that it's not something they should be putting in the ground. Yet they still do, and garden centers keep selling it.
At least it's slightly better than Japanese Knotweed 🤣
Beautiful plant, but it needs to stay in its natural setting. I.e. being eaten by Panda 🐼 🤣
Thanks for the comment
Very much appreciated 😊 🙏
A lot of the people that are helping others for free becuz the owner is either sick, died or can’t afford to do it. Al BLADEZ helps a lot of people for no pay. Martin does an awesome job. Although he is doing much smaller yards/gardens. He does an awesome job himself and he loves what he does!
Beautiful yard, much to prune. Hope they like gardening :) Maybe they will call you when needed.
Haha, totally right. If they don't now....they sure will.
I think they are really keen on learning to be fair. I'll definitely give them a few pointers 👍😁
Thanks
Martin
Beautiful!!
Brilliant video mate just subscribed mate 👍
Oh, thank you 😊👍I really appreciate it.
Hope you enjoy
Martin.
@martinthegardenguy thank you mate
This was some major clean up! Loved all the different plants and shrubs you trimmed!
Oh, thank you 😊 yes, it was quite varied.
And I've not even started weeding the borders yet 😅
It's a lovely garden you are meticulous in your work
Oh, thank you. What a very kind thing to say ☺️
Such a good job. Hedging is so satisfying
It is indeed 😊 although after a few hours, it just hurts my arms! 🤣
Thank you ❤️ 👍
Martin
Great job, Martin!!!! ✳🐞💚
Cheers ☺️ I'm glad you liked it. What a wonderful garden she created.
Thanks again,
Hope you have a great weekend.
Martin
Looks awesome love the old type gardens ❤
Yeah, me too. Someone definitely put a lot of work in 😅 Hopefully, I'll be able to wrestle it back into shape 😊👍
Looks great
Thanks 👍 😊 it was a beautiful little garden. I was back there last week, it's still looking great 😅
Great job Martin, the garden looks lovely. Love how you get these gardens looking fab.👏👏👏👍🇬🇧
Oh, thanks 😊 🙏 much appreciated.
Superb results for your hard work Martin, well done. The young couple must be extremely pleased.Bless you & Thank you for helping them. Great gardening equipment & great video to, cuz ' there is no aggravating music playing. Thank you Martin .
Cheers, I appreciate it 🙏 👍 😊
I'm glad you aren't keen on aggravating music. I find there's something strangely therapeutic about the sound of an engine. Even electric motors like the ones I use 😁 mixed with the sound of being outdoors.
Anyway, thanks for the message.
P.s don't check out my Short Videos, they may have annoying music on them 🤣😁
Great job

Super duper excellent.
And a super duper thank you 😊 🙏

What a beautiful garden area
Yeah, I thought so too. A real good mix of plants and garden design. Other than the bamboo and pampas grass! 🤣
Amazing to watch this transformation. Thank you for sharing your hard work 😊
Thank you for the compliment ☺️ really appreciate it.

Very nice seeing you bring this garden back! ❤
Thank you, it was a wonderful little garden.
Still more to do.....as always with me 😅👍❤️
Thanks so much 🙏 😚❤️

Amazing !!!!❤❤❤❤
Thank you 😊 ❤️ it's a very lovely garden.
I wonder if Bird of Paradise would live over there. Lily of the valley grows here in the Desert of AZ and Chicago and survives the -30 to -70 below zero winters. Just like crocus.
Hummmmm 🤔, I'm not sure about Bird of Paradise. I'm sure its only a house plant over here.
Looks like you got there just in time - much longer and the beautiful structure of this garden may have been beyond repair. Well done.
Oh yeah, you're totally right. Much longer and it would have been a full garden clearance. And as you say, the basic structure would have gotten too hard to rescue.
Thanks for the comment
😊👍
Beautiful
Thank you kindly 🙏 ☺️
Hi martin that was a fantastic job you did on that garden at least the fellow will have a good start and yes I’m new to your channel David 🇬🇧❤️👌✈️🌱🪴
Oh, hi David. Cheers I appreciate it ☺️ he'll be happy enough I hope. Although still more to do 😅 gotta get those borders weeded and edged properly. Plus, finish off the hedges and shrubs.
Thanks again
Martin
Amazing!
Thank you 😊 hope you enjoyed the video.
Thanks again
Excellent comment
Martin
Great work 👍
Cheers, totally appreciated 👍 🙏 😊
great job
Thank you 😊 as always you are very kind.
Hope you are well
Martin
Nice!❤
Much appreciated 🙏 ☺️ ❤️
Oh, dear, dear, you left a lot of that nasty English ivy. It just takes over!!! Nice edging on the beds! And a lovely scalloped hedge.
Oh yeah, people love the scalloped hedge. Lots of comments about it, I like it to 😁 although its doesn't seem as common nowadays as it used to be. Its certainly far easier than putting right angles on old hedges 😂
Thanks
Martin.
Thanks for the comment
Appreciated 👍😊
Great garden transformation! Now I know why I don’t like bushes that need to be sculpted rather than just trimmed. It looks like great exercise to do it but mowing lawns, trimming and edging is where I draw the line lol.
Haha, can't blame you for that mate.
I'm not great at sculpting shrubs beyond copying what someone has already done in the past.
I'm more of a planting guy 😊 and growing vegetables and fruits.
Thanks for the comment
Martin
Nice
Cheers 🍻 😊👍
Have you considered running a mulching mower over your prunings to condense them even more before bagging? Thanks for the video, looks great! Love the scallops!
Yeah, I actually do quite a bit. But these bags were getting emptied quite quickly, and because of the guys operation, I tried to keep them quite light.
You are right, though. It saved lots of space. Plus, it's a cracking way to prepare compost and leaf mold 👍I have a really old Briggs and Stratton 35 for this, it's a though litte mower 😁
💯👏💯👏💯👏💯
Trimming but major revision needed hedges and burberis needs 50%cut away and bamboo escaping!
Totally agree 👍 I'm on it 👍 😅
That looks like a high maintenance lawn.
Thanks for the comment
Much appreciated
Martin.
🎉
Wow it's like a maze. I just don't get it. Tiny areas engulfed in plants. Great work though, kudos!
Thank you 😊 most kind of you to say.
Hope you enjoyed the video.

Hi Martin
Would you call that garden a formal style in England with the plants cut into hedges and rounded shapes?
Do you have clients who like the more natural look with plants allowed to grow without so much shaping?
Interested to know
Thank you 🦘❤️❤️❤️
Hi
Some people would call if formal, and others not. I think it's more personal taste than a given style.
To me, formal gardens are lots of well-kept box hedges/or similar and symmetrical shapes and paths. Like what you'd see on old colonial estates.
But that's my opinion 😊👍
I do have quite a few clients who like a more wild garden and many that have cottage garden styles. But eventually, every hedge or shrub will need cutting back (in a standard garden). Otherwise, there'd be no space 😆
And then you have to decide how to trim it, it'd be really difficult to trim a shrub that looked natural, definitely beyond my skill level 🤣
Fantastic question though, it got my brain cells working 🤣
@@martinthegardenguy
Thanks for your reply ❤️
I understand in small gardens plants would need to be pruned often as space doesn’t allow them to grow freely
I belong to Hurstbridge Garden Club , forty kilometres NE of the city, many members have larger properties and plenty of garden area and only slightly prune
My garden is not large compared to others in the club so I tend to grow bushes that don’t have a large growing habit so I can keep their natural shape with little pruning
We open our gardens to other members and we share cuttings, as a matter of fact most of my garden plants have been propagated from cuttings over the last 14 years we have lived here
I love your Channel and best wishes for the future
Maria 🦘❤️❤️❤️
Just wondering what strimmer line you use ? Seems to last quite a while 👍
Oh hi 👋
It's Oregon 3mm line, it's a lot thicker than most. But you are right, it hardly ever breaks 👍
Hope this helps 😁
Martin.
As a gardener what's your preference bamboo in pots or straight in the g,round
Honestly, I couldn't ever imagine a scenario where I'd plant it in the ground. I'm not actually that keen on it either 😂 I like the dwarf ones with smaller leafs and stems. Be even then, I'd put them in pots 😂
Thanks for answering. I am enjoying watching your videos. Thanks for sharing and I will catch you next time
Very high meintanence garden. They will regulary need help, especially when children come.
Hope you begin to love the Ivy like me 😊
Thanks again, all the best, Martin.
Hi Martin did you finish the 100 year old place.
I'm still doing it 😅
OMG you left the bamboo, its a weed and will get into the pipes. 22:36 22:37
Yeah, it got left in.....no way I'm tackling that monster. I'm too old 🤣
Although, so far, it doesn't seem to be causing any massive problem. It's not something I would plant in the ground. I have a few dwarf varieties in containers.
But generally speaking, it's on my lost on "never plant" plants 😅🤣
Cheers
Martin
🤩🤩❤💚💯👌👍
Thank you so much ❤️👍
Why didn’t you trim off the dead leaves on the Yucca plants? Otherwise great transformation
Cheers 🍻 👍
To be fair, there's never going to be enough time to do everything. I do what I can in the time I've got.
The borders and rest of the shrubs will be done on the next visit 👍
👍🎉🇰🇿👋
Thank you 😊 ❤️ 🇬🇧
