- Day 3 Of Helping New Mum in crazy overgrown garden.
The votes are in for the selection of the next task in this garden. What tough task will get done? The organic cave or the entrance to the paddocks?
I'm back here again helping a new mum with a four month old baby get her garden ready for moving in, its getting very close to moving in day.
When she sent me pictures of this garden and asked for help, there was no way I could refuse. Total overgrown nightmare full of roses and brambles and been neglected for years.
This video is Day 3 of filming, to check out Day 1 & 2 click the link below.
Day 1 • New Mum Needs Help Wit...
Day 2 • New Mum needs more HEL...
Its been a long and gruelling job, but the garden looks far better. As always there is still more work to do.
Thank you so much for watching,
Martin The Garden Guy.

I sure hope the new tenants keeps this yard up this man has worked his Off. He did a very good job
He has more patience than me. I’d be throwing that hedge clipper around like a samurai sword
I do actually do that sometimes, I pretend its a lightsabre 😂 but I cut my leg quite badly one time, so I don't do that anymore 😂😅😁
@@martinthegardenguyfor brambles I sometimes use a very sharp machete... but I am always aware that it's REALLY sharp...😊
Is this that kind of Japanese vines with the small white flowers? It looks nice for a while but if not constantly cut it takes over EVERYTHING. We had one single plant witch took over 3 neighbours gardens. It was planted in a big plastic bucket and the roots managed to penetrate the bottom.
Oh yeah, I love machetes but always feel the worst when swinging one of those things around! 🤣 I do have a thing called a brush hook that's like a machete on the end of a pole. But it's still not the safest bit of kit 😅
The vine you can see in this video, is actually a clematis. But a very, very old one that's not been touched for years.
The one you mentioned, we call Bindweed. And you are right, it's a real headache to get rid of.
I'm so glad to see the cave cleared. Great job.
My husband has lol we needed a new weed whacker after that.
You can tell this was once a well loved garden. Chances are it was an elderly person's home that could no longer keep up the maintenance. Such a brilliant transformation for the new tenant ❤
I totally agree, there was so many things that pointed towards it being lovely at one point.
Hopefully, it'll will be again. I'll do what I can 😅
Thank you for the comment
Martin.
Great job award! When people take those extra steps to help someone says volumes about their character.
Wow, nice work, you have inspired me to volunteer and help the elderly with their garden. Thank you ❤
Oh, good for you. Well done 👍
I bet you'll enjoy it, I always do. It's extremely rewarding.
Best of luck
Martin.
Wow, clearing out the temple of gloom took as long as the rest of the garden. That mum and Bub are lucky you came along. Well done and greetings from Australia. If I had to do a garden like that in Australia I would have to go in with a flamethrower first to clear out the snakes, spiders and odd crocodile 🐊
Temple of Gloom.......why didn't I think of that! 😂 it sounds far cooler than the cave of wonders. And a lot more fitting too 😁
p.s great to hear from you, all the way from Australia. Amazing.
If I lived in Australia, Id probably have to find another profession 😂 maybe a Surfer....that looks cool.
Thanks for the comment, much appreciated 👍
All the best
Martin.
jeez crocodiles are bad enough without being odd too 😎 Hi from Florida, alligator central 🐊🐊
Complimenti
This clean-up reminds me of the answer to the question -- how do you eat a whole bear? Answer -- One bite at a time. Good work on a daunting job.
Haha, very true. Also, one of my favorite sayings. Although I normally substitute the bear for an elephant 😂
Thank you for the lovely comment
Martin.😊
Wow, that was an epic job. Well done on such a majorly overgrown garden. You have a phenomenal work ethic👌
Oh thanks 😊 super kind of you. I'm not sure about my work ethic, but I certainly love what I do 😅 and I'm really glad you liked the video.
All the best
Martin.
You’ve gifted children with a spot where they can use their imagination & creativity! I know it was so much work. Thanks for hanging in with the project! Absolutely ❤ it!!!!
Sir, you have far more patience than I possess. I would have used an Oregon mulching blade to take it down a couple of inches from the ground then mulch it up for the waste bags. The bramble stalks left can be dug out after. This has been an incredible effort on your part and you are to be congratulated for a job extremely well done.
I'll certainly give it a go next time, I do actually have an oregon blade. I jist don't use it too often.
But I'm getting far too old to be doing things the hard way all the time 🤣
Thanks for the comment 👍
Much appreciated
Martin
That took some perseverance! Well done.
It did indeed. Thankfully, I have very good audio books and a great ability to function in autopilot 🤣
Grass seed is looking good! I think the cave of wonders might have been built as a little garden seat or pergola? When the baby is a bit older, it will make an excellent playhouse/ pirates adventure castle/ space ship/ pony barn for the rocking horse/ who knows what! Really nice work!
Yeah, it looks like it was a nice seating area. Probably would have been lovely before the climbing plants took over completely.
I love your imagination, I think you are right. The child is going to love it 😍 what a fabulous den it's going to make.
After I've fixed it up anyhoo, this job will never end 🤣
Myslím, že to byl pûvodně zahradní altán, já jsem takový staromilec, že bych renovovala. Mám na zahradě podobný. Jste úžasný !!! Dnes jsem vás našla poprvé, a jsem okouzlena !!! Zuzana,CZ❤
Thank you very much for saving the pergola... If it's in good condition, it deserves a beautiful rose bush with pastel pink flowers which will be well maintained by Martin...
I love your vision of the rose 🌹 😊
Some of the woodwork was OK, just needs some bits replacing and a bit of TLC.
It'll be perfect again....one day 🤣
I love the story telling you do with the camera angles. Makes it so much easier to get an idea of the space you are working in as a viewer. You are doing great work (garden-wise and video-wise)!
Oh wow. Thank you so much 😊 I'm really glad you noticed the filming. Ibe been gardening for so long, most of it in second nature. But filming was a whole new bag of skills (which I'm still trying to improve).
So, a big, super l, gigantic thank you for the compliment.
All the best
Martin.
Hedge clippers so are much easier. You did a great job! That was out of control.
It was indeed, half way through I was starting to think I'd bitten off more than I could chew 😂
Totally agree about the hedge cutters, it didn't struggle cutting through that lot. Napalm may have also worked 😅
@@martinthegardenguy bless you for helping her.
Overgrown may be a bit of an understatement 😮 Good job on taking the time to get all that overgrowth out. 👏🏻👏🏻
Haha, I was trying to be positive. Otherwise, I'd have done a runner 🤣
Don't forget the saying "how do you eat an elephant, one bite at a time" 😁😅
I do like how you clip down the big pieces into smaller pieces that will compost more easily. Great work....and fun discoveries! That "cave" was so much more work than I could have imagined. Seeing it cleared, and the pot of thyme, still alive, makes me think it was once an herb garden. Great work.
Haha, yeah I don't even know I'm doing it sometimes. I try and compost virtually everything so it defiantly helps it break down quicker, and I can get more into the bags as well 👍its a hell of a work out for the hands though, I bet I end up with carpal tunnel 😂
Also, your right. The cave of nightmares was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. So much dead wood, and seasoned vines it was far harden than cutting into green growth.
But I got there in the end......just about 😊
Thank you so much for the comment, really appreciate it.
Martin.
I was chopping some small trees into smallpieces so they would fit in a garbage bag because there was no where to put them except in the bag. My hands ache today. I hope the secaturs you recommend work better than the ones I am using. @@martinthegardenguy
Oh, which ones? I only really use Felco and Okatsune seceteurs. I love them both 😁 but the Okatsune ones probably just slightly win for me. I don't have the biggest hands, so they fit nicely.
I saw th Okatsune in your reocmmndations. @@martinthegardenguy
@martinthegardenguy Yes, using clippers so much has bent my thumb on my right hand, the joint has bone spurs. Already surgery on it, looks goofy but doesn't hurt.
Love the way he works, and the tools he use
Wow, absolutely not what I was expecting!! All the overgrowth made it look like a small building. Now it looks like it could have been a garden area. Thank you for clearing it out , you work way to hard!!!
Thank you for that lovely comment 😊 you are very kind.
I thought the same, I was hoping for some strange house or pergola. But it'll be a lovely seating area when replanted and repaired.
I could have carved out an organic igloo, I suppose 🤣
Thanks again, much appreciated 👍
Martin
Heh ... if it were me I'd hang a sign at the little entranceway saying "Pooh's Thoughtful Spot". You didn't realize you were hacking your way through the Hundred Acre Woods, did you? Terrific job, Martin! I am so impressed that I just hit the subscribe button ...
Haha, you are obviously a A.A Milne fan! 👍😁
I honestly love the idea of the sign though 😍 really. What an amazing bit of garden scenery that would be.
I'm picturing a wooden plaque with burnt engraving. 😁
Thank you so much for watching, it's really appreciated.
All the best
Martin
This was an incredible 3 day transformation. You are an artist! Nottingham's landscape is so different than Colorado's, a semi-arid landscape. We would never get your rain here!
Oh thank you, I've a feeling next spring it will be a few more days to finish this one off. For such a small garden, it was a rather big pain in the bum! 🤣
After all this rain, I'd love some of what Colorados weather has to offer 😊
I feel like we've gone from a wet summer to a wet autumn and then on to a cold wet winter! 😂
And maybe in a few years a fun play place for the little one - a castle or fort! Wonderful job, now so many possibilities!
Golly gum drops, I hope they use the garden after all your hard work. Awesome job , well done 👏. ❤ From Canada 🇨🇦
Haha, me to 😅 I would be a shame if it got left to become overgrown again.
Fortunately, she may want me to do a bit more work with the patio slabs and the fence.
So it's looking like it's going to be cared for again 🤞
Thanks for the comment
Martin
Looks like the space could have been an outdoor potting area with a little arbor entrance. Maybe?
That's a great thought, I did find various pots underneath, so it's definitely a possibility, and also I found some very old solar garden lamps. Wow, it must have looked amazing back in the day.
Hopefully, I'll get a chance to fix it all back up to how it used to be🤞
Thanks
Martin
👋🏼🌻🇺🇲🥴👍🏻 I love the clipper in your right hand. Looks like Edward Scissorhand! ❤
Haha, I love it 😂 my clippers do feel like they are part of me sometimes. Although Edward was far, far better than I at hedge trimming 😅 and he even has a better head of hair than me!
You needed a machete for this job. I think the cave of wonders was a gazebo with a few vines or climbing plants that took over the entire back garden. I admire your persistence to hack through all the brambles and trees.
Thanks, I am sure there are easier ways to tackle this garden. But I like the idea of using a machete. I would have felt like a jungle explorer 😁😂
Although I am also a bit daft, so I may have ended up with less fingers! 😅
That will now make a lovely vegetable garden.
Ooooo, that's not a bad idea. I shall suggest it 😊👍
Thank you for the comment
Martin
Wow!!!! What a transformation! Your arms are shoulders have to be burning. Great job!!!
They were indeed, but I never notice until I finish 🤣😅 or when I wake up in the morning.
The bits that hurt most was the hundreds of tiny scratches from the brambles 😆
Wow! Garden Guy you are the best! That was a lot of work and very satisfying to see the rresults! Even at the increased speeed the labor that went into the work was very evident! Thanks for sharing. George from Florida, USA
George, my friend. You are always very kind 👍 it's certainly appreciated.
I've a feeling this will be the never-ending job, I've already signed myself up to sorting the planting scheme and fixing and cleaning the patio and wall 🤣 which will probably entail a new fence also.
I need to learn to keep my mouth shut 😂
Thanks again for the comment.
All the best
Martin.
Oh friend! I am so glad that you are with us in our journey! I don't know where we are going but I am for certain that if we keep a good sense of humor "all shall be well and all mannner of thing shall be well" (Dame Julian of Norwich) "...in the ground of our beseeching." (T.S. Eliot) Don't lose heart, my friend! You are not alone! George@@martinthegardenguy
You are very good at cleaning as you go Very nice corner and thank you for sharing and caring
And, thank you for the very lovely and very kind comment 😊

Wow what a fantastic job. Looks great. Please take care
Oh, thank you 😊 very kind.
All the best
Martin
Very nuce work!! 🎉🎉🎉
Lots of patience cutting down the weeds in small pieces…before putting them all in the garbage… 😊😊😊
Oh, thank you.
Yeah, I hadn't actually realized how much I'd filmed of me cutting those brambles up! 😂 I hope it wasn't too boring.
I'm still learning how to video edit 😅
Thank you for the comment.
Very much appreciated.
Martin.
That was a lot of very hard work your hands must be sore great job well done ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Thank you, super duper kind of you ❤️😊
Strangely, my hands were fine. My knees are always the bit that seem to hurt 😂maybe I'm just getting old.
Another good job Martin, you have the patience of a saint. Will look lovely next year when we have warmer weather, can’t wait till next video ❤❤Wiltshire
Oh, hello 👋 I agree. It's not really winter yet and I'm already looking forward to spring.
It's felt like this year has flown by! 😅
Hope you're well
Martin
Watching you get down to the dirt was ..wow...what detail...I'm from the midwest USA and am so amazed by what y'all got growing there. So many opportunities to get hurt!
Greetings from Nottingham 😁Fortunately, I was unharmed 😅 other than loads of tiny cuts from the brambles and wild roses.
The most dangerous part was (believe it or not) the patio slabs. It was very wobbly and so slippy it was like ice.
Ese jardín verdaderamente estaba bien duro de limpiar por una sola persona, parece que llevaba años sin limpiar,un magnífico trabajo, muchas felicitaciones, bien hecho.😊😊😊😊
Thank you ❤️ 😊 very kind of you to say.
Martin.
This was once a well love garden. Nice to see you bring it back to life
Thank you, yeah I agree. There were loads of bird feeders and even a bug hotel. Not to mention the garden design. Probably would have been lovely in its prime.
Maybe it will be again 🤞
Thanks for the comment ☺️
Martin.
A great area for children to play and make believe ❤
****New subscriber, watching old videos****Martin, I could watch you clean gardens all day…I’d get nothing done, but you truly will! 😄
At part 2 I thought it was a little hen coop with yard. Now, I’m thinking perhaps it was a ‘secret garden’, perhaps built for a child. Did we ever find out what it was?
Great job on this yard! It looked impossible, but you did it and in a mighty fine way! Watching from Texas 🇺🇸
What a lovely comment 😊 thanks for subscribing and watching. I hope you're enjoying the content so far.
I agree, after all the work in the garden, it was probably a secret garden with a little bench and enclosed by flowering climbers. I'd loved to have seen it in its prime. I bet it was amazing.
Thanks again Texas, big greetings from Nottingham 😊🙏👍
Martin
This part would have taken me 2 days or more... but I would have done it the same way! You tell it Auto mode, I call it flow... well done😊❤❤❤❤
Oh cool, I call it flow sometimes as well. It's an awesome feeling 🤣 nothing feels like hard work when you're in flow.
I wish I could summon it on demand 😁
Thank you for the comment
Martin
I legit cheered when you got that big trunk out of the ground! Bravo!
What a remarkable job you did there. I’d be in so much pain if I had done this kind of work. Hope you are not hurting too bad. That’s the kind of job I’d have music cranked up on to keep me motivated. You are an A+ gardener. Stay well
Oh Mary, you are kind 😊 thank you very much.
P.s I only did this job today, so too early to tell about the aches. But I'm guessing I'll feel it in the morning 🤣
The tiny cuts from the brambles and roses I can feel now, though 😁 like being attacked by a hundred tiny kittens.
Thanks again for the lovely comment.
All the best
Martin.
U toho altánu svatá trpělivost,ještě nikdy jsem neviděla něco tak zarostlého. Jste kouzelník. !!!
Thank you very much! 😊❤️
I like that name The Garden Magician 🎩 😅
Thanks again
Martin
So excited to see the rest of this garden clean out.
Me too, although it'll be a work in progress. It really has had all the work I can give it this year.
But full landscaping will probably be done next spring. I hope 😅 just need some nice weather.
Did you notice the grass starting to re-grow?
@@martinthegardenguy yes! Saw the new grass sprouting up. What a difference that will make.
Well, I’m exhausted just watching this. What a tedious job, but with great results! 😅
Haha, yeah, indeed. I still have nightmares about this garden 😂 it's tured out ok, though.
A blank slate at lease for her to work on 😁
Man, I never thought I’d see the end of that gargantuan plant, I can only imagine how you felt. 😂 Awesome three-part transformation! New subscriber. After watching so many Australian and English gardening videos, if I never see a shrub or vine again, it’ll be too soon!! 🌿
Same here 😂 I thought the job would never end. It's a rare garden that has vines that think, at least outside of a real jungle 😁
Hope you enjoyed it though 🤞
Thanks
Martin
Looks like it might of been.a little veggie garden with arbor entrance. I bet this yard was once beautiful. I am sure new mom is very grateful for all your hard work.
Thanks, in my mind, I'm still not sure what it was even after I cleared it 😅 it looked like a nice place to relax in its prime, though 😊
Thanks for the comment 👍
Wow! That was a ton of work!
Yeah, I may have underestimated the amount of work there was to do 🤣
Thanks for the comment 👍
Martin
Interesting reveal! A+ for your hard work! 👍
A match would have been quicker!! LOL 😂 Great job 👏
You're not wrong 👍 😂 I'd considered napalm, haha.
This garden still haunts my dreams!! 😅😂
can't wait to see the clearing to the horse paddock!
Well, I've made a start on it. But it didn't go according to plan.
It's seems to be a drainage ditch, that someone has filled with dead trees and old patio slabs and lots of other random objects.
It'll have to wait to dry out a bit I'm afraid 😢
I have on the other hand, opened the view up to the paddocks. So it looks beautiful.
Video to follow ❤️
Thanks 😊
WOW😮 That's a HUGE yard transformation with loads of patience and an AMAZING results! 🤗 AWESOME finds in them awful climbing vines.🥰
Thank you, for such a small garden, it really was a nightmare😂I'm not sure in 20 odd years I have had anything quite like this one. Not in a normal back yard any how.
Thank you for the lovely comment.
Its really appreciated.
Martin.
Great job so much better thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks ☺️ much appreciated.
I love the way you clean up as you go. Thanks from Georgia USA
Haha, yeah 🤣 I do most of it in autopilot. I don't even know I'm doing it half the time 😁
Thanks for the comment.
Martin
Amazing! Well done!❤
Absolutely fantastic job. You are such a clean worker, clearing up as you go along. I hope they appreciate you, I certainly do.
Oh, thanks Diane 😊 I defiantly appreciate the lovely comment 👍thank you for taking time out of your day to say something lovely.
All the best
Martin.
I've only just found your videos and have just subscribed. I watched all 3 of these and it's been fascinating with everything that's been uncovered! That arbour was absolutely overwhelmed with ilex crenata (you probably know that, Martin!); I have some in my front garden and I have to keep a check on it because it spreads by its roots. One of the best transformations I've watched! Keep up the good work😉😉!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it ☺️
To be honest, I was unsure whether it was an Ilex or a Lonicera. I was going to try to identify it properly, but I ended up doing my whirling dervish impression with the hedge cutter instead 😂
Some gardening jobs don't actually call for that much "gardening " to be fair.
But you have certainly made me think, it was rather ilex crenata like.
Thanks again
All the best
Martin.
The last mini series I watched this avidly was "I Claudius"! I truly think this was the garden equivalent of one of the labours of Hercules. You are so methodical - anyone else would have just been hacking at it! You did a marvelous job and I'm sure the lady appreciated it!
Oh wow, I used to have the BBC I Claudius on DVD box set. I bet I've still got it somewhere 😂 I don't even have a DVD player anymore.
That's some very, very high praise 😊
I hope my videos will only improve and keep you interested. 🙏
Thank you super muchly 😁
Martin.
Wow! Is Mum ever gonna be surprised! Charming garden. Hopefully she'll retain you to nurture into a lovely serene safe for kiddies getaway! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I hope to see it again this year 🤞 but I'm struggling to get in touch with her at the moment.
Beautiful work! Great attention to every detail.
Thank you, much appreciated ☺️👍
I'm so impressed with your work and how you saw that mess through to the end! Your client now has a lovely garden to enjoy. The temptation to use a flamethrower would have been overwhelming for me if I'd been faced with that. Excellent job! Any idea what type of vine that was growing over the arbor?
Meticulous and tedious job! 👍👍
That structure would no longer exist. 🤢😂
Thank you ❤️ 😊 I got there in the end.
I think the two climbers I could partially identify were clematis and a winter jasmine. With some evergreen sprawling bushes as well.
I love the idea of a flame thrower, though it would have saved me some time 😁
Thanks again
Martin
Cheers Bill 👍 always appreciated mate.
It looks like it was constructed as a play house for a child!
I am glad you were able to clear it for her quite a job!
Can’t believe the transformation of this garden! Unbelievable. It also hurts my back just watching it 😄 bravo 👏👏
Awesome transformation! Excellent job clearing out the overgrown garden. The garden looks so much better!
Thank you 😊 So far, so good anyway. I'm starting to feel like there will always be something to do in this garden though 😂and it not even that big lol.
I don't know what it is, but I sure do like it.
Same here 😅 It needs a little bit of a repair and TLC. But surprisingly, a lot of the timber was still OK 👍
It'll make a really cool chilled out seating area....
Thanks for the comment
Much appreciated
Martin.
Amazing! ❤
Thanks 😊 very kind of you to say so.
Much appreciated.
What a cute corner that will be for the kids. You did such a careful and meticulous job clearing as you went. Best way to do it so cleanup isn’t so overwhelming. Just let the mum know that the bush against the fence closest to the right side of the corner looks from here to be an oleander which are poisonous. Good to see you back in action. We’ve been promised a wet winter here in So. California but we’ll see if it happens. 😊
Oh, hello 👋 😁 thanks for the comment.
I wish we could grow Oleander outdoors over here. They really don't like our winters (or at least in my part of the UK) I've got one in a pot that I have to hide in the greenhouse over winter.
I think the plant you saw was a Bay Laurel. But I may be wrong 😂
To be honest, I tend to be in auto pilot when I'm holding tools 🤣 and cutting things hard back.
I'll have a closer look next time I'm back, as I've been roped into landscaping this garden next spring now 😂
The never-ending job.
All the best
Martin.
Lovely ❤❤❤
I’d say any brambles left near that garden-fence, outside or inside, will cause major problems in the future as they sneak in AND if you have kids they will hurt themselves on thorns. There seems to be lots around anyway if you’re keen on blackberries. Well done 👍🏻
Cheers! They will be a pain to totally get rid of, but as you say.....for one month of the year, they are awesome 🤣 I love blackberries. I often got spiked as a kid when collecting them. It's only fond memories 😁
I think a regular chop will keep them in order. The neighbors seem to be OK.
But that's another videos.
Thank you so much for your comment.
Much appreciated
Martin 😊
Какая тяжелая работа! 👍
Excellent work
Amazing ❤
I've just come across your channel, I've enjoyed watching.
Can you tell me about the mini chainsaw, I need that in my life! Chunky chips🤣. But seriously, my old hands are so worn. X
Haha, that's the same reason I use it. Sames quite a bit of effort.
Check out the link in the description, it's called Saker. I couldn't recommend it enough, although I've only been using it 3-4 months. But so far, so good.
Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
All the best
Martin.
Thank you Martin, I'll check it out.
I am in lo e with this transformation !!!!! The house rebirth !!
Thanks, it was a fun little job this one. Full of wired surprises 😂
Damn dude! You got some muscles!! Cleaning out that arbor wore me out. That was something. Looks fab, though. Be sure and throw more grass seed down and carry on.👍👍👍
😂 those muscles certainly ached the next day 😁 . It was a fun little job, though.
On the last day I did there, I put some more grass seed down. As you'd probably noticed, it got trampled quite badly while I was working.
Although it was growing quite nicely 👍
Thanks for the comment 😁
Martin
Importante siempre usar gafas de seguridad y equipo protector.
You are very right. I can't argue 😊
I have picked up some bad habits over the years.
Safety first 😇👍
Thanks
Martin
Woch… fiquei muito curiosa com esse matagal no canto do quintal! Não consigo imaginar o que seria executado com esse projeto esquésito! Enfim Martin me fez ver que sou curiosa mesmo! 😂😂
Genial tu trababo!!!!❤
Thanks ☺️ 😊
It is very much appreciated.
Martin
Do you have special gloves to be able to handle that thorny vine? I’m from Texas in the US. It seems to me that these bramble vines are the scourge of the UK! 😂 Just disposing of the stuff is insane! You did a great job of it!
Greetings Texas ❤️
Quite right, brambles are. Although the fruit still has major redeeming qualities to stop people hating it 🤣 so we only hate it for 11 months of the year.
To be honest, it's not really a massive problem in most gardens that aren't neglected. It's can be spotted quite easily and removed. It's only when a garden gets left of many years (like this one) that it really becomes a problem.
It's can give nasty scratches, though 😅
Thanks for the comment.
Truly, it's appreciated.
Martin
That was super gnarly.
Yeah, it was 😅 some very grim detritus from years of growth. My pruning kit got a good workout 🤣
Hi, Wow just finished watching the 3 videos. What an Amazing Difference. You have the patients of a Saint..lol It looks Amazing!! Im off to watch some more, A bit to catch up on. Stay Safe.. From a Tasmanian ❤️🙏👍🤗
You did a wonderful job! I'm so glad you were able to get the cave and behind the fence.
Oh, thanks 😊 it was a real transformation, was this one 😂
Last time I saw this garden, the lawn had almost fully established. It was looking quite nice 😁👍
I never watched anyone hand trimming so much having a hedge trimmer I felt to sleep
I hope it was a good sleep 😁 glad I could help 👍
Impossible to get rid of berry vines. They’ll keep popping up forever.
Almost impossible 😅 with regular attention, though, you can get rid of them. It does take a while though.
Especially if your like me, and won't use weed killers 🤣
those brambles are amazing they way they twist and grow.
I apologize! I feel horrible. I didn't realize that you came back and finished off this project. I commented after the last video that this structure needed attention. You did a great job - all 3 parts! I recently found your channel and have been streaming through them starting at the beginning. I won't make the same mistake again. Thank you for sharing the work you do.
Haha, no worries at all 😊 but thank you for the lovely comment follow-up.
No apologies needed.
I'm just glad you are enjoying the videos 😊👍🙏
Hey Martin, great work 👍 I really hope the owner kept on top of keeping the garden tidy and all your hours of good work wasn't a waste of time
I never really find out about most of the properties I do. It's a mixed bag when I do, some carry on and look after it, others don't 😥
Amazing job! 😊
Thanks 👍 😊 it certainly made me sweat did this one 😅
Wow Martin, what a massive clean up
Did you feel sore all over that night?
Great video, thanks 🦘❤️❤️❤️
Oh, hello, I hope you're well.
I was a bit sore in the morning, but I am every morning nowadays 🤣
Gardening must be good for you, but it doesn't half add some wear and tear on to the old joints 😆
Wow very nice n clean u r a patient person be strong n always take care of ur self god blessed always
Thank you, that was a super lovely comment 😊
Much appreciated.
All the best
Martin.
WHAT in the world was that?!!!!!! That was Horrible! I don't ever want to see a plant like that ever again....I'm sure you don't either. You are a man of great patience...Great job!!!!!
Haha, thank you. It was certainly a beast wasn't it 😅
Thanks for the comment 👍 😊
I have to know. Was that a bush they would plant or wild vines that just took over.
Excellent job 👍
Cheers mate 👍
You. The. Greatest!🎉
wow what a job that corner of the garden is for you
Indeed it was, I enjoyed it.....for the most part. The weather has been a bit shocking, hasn't it?
I'm surprised there wasn't a river here when I returned 😅
Thanks as always ❤️
Martin
What a transformation!
Hope you enjoyed all these videos, for such a small garden it really took a lot of time 😂 There is probably going to be a part 4,5 and 6 to this garden. Its never ending 😅
Thank you for the comments.
Its truly appreciated.

Awesome job done
Thank you kindly 🙏 ☺️
Someone in the past really made use of this old garden and treated it well. The trouble with well-loved gardens is that they usually have nicely augmented soil--which the weeds adore once the caretakers are no longer vigilant. (He should have left the arbor with a Mohawk. It looked kinda cute.)
You're totally right, as soon as I started, I could see lots of signs of how nice the garden used to be.
Bug hotels, bird boxes, lots of timber furniture and structures. Such a shame 😥 Hopefully it's been elevated to its former glory since I finished the clearance. I tried to leave her a blank slate to be able to keep on top of it 🤞
Thanks for the comment.
Martin.
@@martinthegardenguy You gave this owner the ultimate gift--a blank slate. I lost my garden helper last year to day trading and I now recall how hard weeding is on the back and knees. My "blank slate" is still weeks away.
