Haha 😂 unfortunately yes. It's very true 😁 although I am improving. My 4 year old daughter is now on my case all the time to encourage me, or pressure me at least. 😂
Martin, I’d say you’re very happy with the result of your work....can I just say that there’s nothing to beat red bricks...those walls look wonderful...lastly what might you grow on the trellises?🤩
I really must do an update video to this 😂 I've actually had clematis growing up two of them this year, and sweepea on the other. All were very nice, although the sweepea went in a bit too late. 👍😁
It's always the plumber's wife whose tap leaks - evidently gardeners wives have lethal patios! Seriously, I'm glad that neither of you was hurt & I'm glad you've remedied the Patio Stones of Doom! The result was terrific!
Haha, it turns out every country has this similar saying 😁 had some from Spain, Russia, France, and Germany. At least it makes me feel less bad about never doing my own garden 😅
Nice to see the pros and cons of a domestic level appliance. I've found a pressure washer can do so many jobs quickly and thoroughly in outdoor spaces, definitely worth it. (women get nagged too! 😂). It's a good example of why people's outdoor areas can get a bit neglected. Between work and family it can be difficult to slot in the time. Lovely job. 👍🏼
Haha, she only "nagged" me a bit 🤣 she probably would have done it herself, but she is really not keen on cold weather 😁 I agree, I love my pressure washer. Pretty handy and eco-friendly. I could do with a longer handle, though, as it kills my back! 😂 Thanks for the comment 👍 All the best Martin.
It looked so much better, Martin. The suggestion I would make is that you should have used a squeegee on the windows after you washed them. I hope you feature your own garden some other time. 😊
Thank you 😊 you are right about the squeegee 😂 but I'm a total cowboy sometimes. You can imagine how my windows always dry streaky 😁 Indeed, I will do another video at some point in my garden. I've still got quite a bit to do. Thanks Martin 😊

Haha, yeah, when I think back now, it was a bit of an emotional and physical roller-coaster 😅 Thank you kindly for the comment 👍 I plan to get the pointing done as soon as it's dry enough 🤞
I follow each pressure cleaning with a cleaning product that I spray on and leave it for an hour and rinse it off. It continues cleaning all summer long and before the wet autumn starts I spray again and then rinse after the hour wait and the bad stuff can't a foot hold again. Looks great, the stone was the least hardest to do but makes it look great, well done.
Wow, your patio must be spotless 👍😁 I hope mine will look as good one day. I'd like to try not to use sprays and fungicide type things, though. Maybe I'll have to pressure wash 3 time a years 🤔 Thanks for the comment 👍 Greatly appreciated Martin.
Great Work! The patio looks great! And I suspect you are greatly relieved to have the job done and so nicely! Happy New Year to you and your family. George from Florida, USA
Cheers, George. Happy New Year to you as well. I walked to the garage this morning and didn't slip over on algae 👍 a successful trip one mite say 😁 Thanks again Martin
Thank you 😊 it'll hopefully be a good mix of kids' things and wildlife things 😁 although the two aren't mutually exclusive 🤣 mud kitchens and the like. And lots and lots of plants 🪴 Thanks again Martin
That looks so much better! We have the same power washer - it’s dependable and gets the job done. Hopefully the sun will be out soon and that patio will really pop.
Fingers crossed, this cold, wet weather is putting a real damper on my spirits 😢 Yeah, you're right. It's not a bad little machine. Does the job good enough. Although I prefer planting and pruning to power washing 🤣 real gardening.
Thanks Pauline 👍 kind words as always. Garden is getting there, hopefully it'll be literally buzzing this year. Still more to do 😅 but isn't there always in gardening.
You're not wrong mate 🤣 an extension section would be great. Although I don't help myself sometimes, I stoop over too much. Fortunately, I don't do a great deal of pressure washing 😅 Happy New Year dude, All the best Martin.
A great start to the spring cleaning. I like that you are working on your property, the family will have an algae free relax area. Congrats on the new baby. Hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday season. Can’t wait till spring again.
Oh thank you, really kind of you. The boy and girl are doing really well, thanks. They love the garden, and they don't seem to mind the untidiness 🤣 Happy New Year to you. Roll on spring 😅 Martin.
Haha, it was very mucky wasn't it. I wasn't even going to film it was I was a bit ashamed, I let it get so bad. P.s my back was a bit sore after, note to self. Get a longer nozzle for the pressure washer. 🤣 Or work on my posture.

Thanks for the motivational pep talk 😂 I shall endeavor to be more decisive in the future 👍😊 Next plan, mud kitchen for the kids and wild flowers for the bees.
Hey, I missed this one too! 😅 It's like finding money in your pants pocket you didn't know you had...and BEFORE they go into the washer! Joy joy! It's sounds like you are awfully busy to get to your own projects, but I SO look forward to your making raised beds in the greenhouse, especially. They are already so charming and I am so interested in how others set them up. We never had one. But Momma & I set up grow light system in the shed and boy, we grew some cool stuff! Sadly, she needed the money and sold them, and with her gone this last year, it makes the shed so sad. Maybe I will get a new set up some day. But for now. I must repair, rejuvenate the Potager (I built it 25 years ago for her, with English Garden Pavers.) it's seen it's finer days... What other projects do you have in mind for your lovely little garden? I saw where you spruced it up recently... The patio looks refreshed now that it's safe and washed. Well done! Blessings always. 💛🖤💛 Stacy
I have similar slabs they are hellish slippery when they get algae on them, they sems to be an abundance of moss and algae this year must be the weather
Yeah, I bet you're right. It's all definitely all grown this year. Been really wet here, and probably doesn't help that my dog likes to wee on them as well 🤣 she doesn't like going in wet grass. Lots of nutrients for the algae. Be careful on yours. This stuff was like ice 🤞take care. Martin.

Haha, I'll get them on cleaning duty in spring. I did try and keep rinsing it as I went, but dirt gets everywhere 🤣 fortunately it's one of the water slides for the paddling pool (self cleaning) 😅 I hope your grandsons does a better cleaning job than my two do? 😊 The fruit and veg seeds are a fantastic idea. Good luck with them. Maybe the grandson will help? P.s. What a beautiful part of the country you live in. It's one of my favorite places. I was sea fishing there last year ❤️ All the best Martin
Hey, super Arbeit. Das Rohr zur Verlängerung beim Karcher kann nachgekauft werden und ist nicht teuer. Damit ist die Hose auch ein wenig weiter entfernt vom Schmutzwasser.
Great job. My gripe with the Karchers and the Ryobi pressure washers is the wand needs to be about 6-10 inches longer. Did our entire driveway and the costant bending hurt my back .
You are totally right, and I had an aching back for two days to prove it! 🤣 It would kill em to add a little extension section, would it 😅 Although it'd also probably help if I didn't stoop over so much, I have terrible posture 😁
They say the cobblers kids are barefoot, the roofers home leaks, etc. I can relate. My hubby is a handyman. He is really good and makes a terrific living from word of mouth only. Problem is, when he comes home at night last thing he wants to do is home stuff. So I have a TP roll holder pulling out of the wall, molding around carpeting laying against the wall, not nailed in. Some of the projects are years old. “SIGH”
I love that saying, I've never heard it before. A viewer from Spain sent me another one "in the blacksmiths house, wooden knives" 😊 it sounds lovely when spoken in Spanish. I'm sure your hubby does his best, my excuse is always saying I don't have time. But it's probably more inclination that I'm lacking. And energy 🤣 I'll get there in the end. I've started a house "jobs list" and I'm going to do a few every weekend. Last job was something as simple as crimping the bath plug back on to the chain (something that's been broken since we move in) 😂 wow it was a nightmare trying to unplug the bath water. Thanks so much for the comment Martin.
Interesting that you used the word nag to describe your partner asking you to take care of something that was a danger to yourself and your family. Men. The patio came out very nicely. Was it like that when you moved there or was that 2 years worth of algae?
Haha, the irony of this wasn't lost on my wife either 🤣 No, most of the green algae has grown this year. Maybe just too wet, not enough drainage, and my dog weeing on the patio probably doesn't help. It has been an overly wet winter so far 😢 Thank you for the comment 👍 😊 🙏 This made my partner laugh.
I hope I don't have to do it too often, pressure washing isn't my favorite job 🤣 but ot definitely seemed to get very slimy, very quickly. So maybe I will. Thanks for the comment 👍 Martin.
Hi Martin I hope yourself and your family had a great Christmas and I hope this year is great for you. Congrats on the north of the baby. Be nice to your partner.
I was surprised at how well that took the green stuff off. It looks alot better and safer. Please explain to me the purpose of putting sand in the grooves.
Hello, thanks for the comment. It's not just sand I'd be putting in. But sand and cement (an old fashioned way of saying concrete 😁). Hope that clarifies everything 🙏 Thanks again Martin
Just to warn you, i have a similar rig it for the large concrete area i picked up an inexpensive 39cm fsc and an extension with glfan tips. Now I'd ltessure jet the cat it it would stay still long enough Great job tho, and congrats on in the family extension. Its been a few years but thats a lot of juggling 😊
Haha, cheers mate. Yeah, it's definitely hectic 🤣 but awesome at the same time. Still can't wait for them to move out, though 😂 only another 18 years to go. How did you find the surface cleaner? Did it work ok with the Karcher?
@@martinthegardenguy my youngest just turned 21. It's been a fun ride 😁 The brand I have is Greenworks (in the US) but they have standardized fittings, so the extensions and fan tips all work too My surfaces are all concrete and it makes a huge difference vs a turbo, particularly it's faster and doesn't draw lines everywhere. Doesn't really need bleach either. Side note, 27cm not 39. It's.about 1/2 the diameter of what guys like Partridge run, but it's about half the PSI too.
21? Well done sir 👍 still at home or moved out? They say 21 is the new 18 😂 it'll be 26 by the time mine are older. Thanks for the info on the pressure washer, it's was very helpful. It's not something I know a great deal about. Cheers Martin.
Looking at those trellis Vs along the wall, is there anything planted to grow up them? If not, you could have large pots and have scarlette runner beans and a cucumber zooming up. I believe the cucumber would need slings/hammocks for support as their weight increases (I think old tights can be used). Or you could hang herbs in pots off the horizontal wood. It would be great to teach your children to plant, grow, harvest and eat food. Plus garden beds means less lawn to water and mow. I look forward to seeing what you do for your family. Happy 2024 😊.
Happy New Year, Catherine 🎉 😊 Great ideas, as always 👍 the V trellis both have clematis growing up them. Or at least when they grow again. I only put them in last year, so hopefully they'll take off a bit more now the roots are well established. I normally grow my cucumbers in the greenhouse along with tomatoes. Both of which the kids won't leave alone. Last year, they were virtually eating breakfast in the greenhouse 🤣 I'll be doing a few nore videos in the garden, it'll be nice to show you what's going on as I'm sure you'll have some great suggestions. We seem to be on the same wavelength 😅 All the best Martin.
Ha ha, I know what you mean by "My partner asked me to do something about it, and I finally did it after I slipped." (paraphrased) The brakes on my car needed work, and my partner told me he would fix them. That he didn't want me to spend the money on a mechanic. After me nagging him for 3 years, he drove the car and almost got into an accident. The next weekend he fixed the brakes. 😊 But I'm also like this. I'd rather take care of other people's things than my own. That's life, I guess...
Haha, yes, indeed. The irony of this wasn't lost on my wife either 😂 I'm glad the breaks on your car finally got fixed! 😁 but my patio needs washing again already. This time I'm going to do it for brownie points before she asks me to do it 👍😁
100% correct 🤣 it certainly made itself known. I don't help myself sometimes, I'm always stooping over lol. I need to stand up straight. Thanks 👍 Martin.
Can you extend the height of your backyard fencing to exclude the top floor apartments of your neighbors from looking in? Thinking of your kids and safety.
Honestly it wasn't even green at all last year, just a normal level of dirt for a patio. So it's happened in less than a year 🤯 I think whats happened is a combination of more wet weather, which causes my dog to wee on the patio instead of the grass 🤣 it's a bit gross, but I think the extra nitrogen has cased it to go green. I mite be wrong though. 😅
They need raising to the level of the main patio, so I'll need to relay them first. Then I'll give em a wash 👍 P.s well spotted sir! You've got good eyes 😁
Yeah, I think it works. I've never tried it on algae and moss to be fair. I'm going to see how it goes, and see how quickly it comes back. It had been very very wet. So maybe it'll improve as the weather does....if it ever does! 🤣 Great idea though. 👍
Hi 👋 There are two different attachments. One that you'd probably use to wash a car with, and the other for brickwork etc. It's called a turbo Lance and is far more powers. If you're using one of these, it should come up quite nicely 🤞 what sort are you using?
Terrible you had to be nagged to do it. Either of you could have slipped and broken your backs. That said you did a fantastic job, it looks great. Please take care of yourself
Yeah, my partner said the same thing! 🤣 Although in my defense, it wasn't because I was being lazy. Her biggest gripe was I was busy helping other people instead of doing our garden 😅 I'll try for a happy medium in future. Happy New Year 😊 All the best, Martin.
I don't even use the bio degradable stuff, I always think of things like this (the algae and moss) as a symptom of a problem. As opposed to the actual problem. On this patio, I think my dog has been doing her wee on the slabs. As she doesn't like wet grass 🤣 which is giving the algae load of nitrogen. And caused a explosion of growth. Solution is for me to walk her more! 😅🤣 Thank you for the comment. Much appreciated. Martin.
Looks good. So, it’s true about not getting stuff done at your own home.😃 Hang in there.💚
Haha 😂 unfortunately yes. It's very true 😁 although I am improving. My 4 year old daughter is now on my case all the time to encourage me, or pressure me at least. 😂

PG Tips Is that sandstone paving only I have that I have to jet wash mine every year !!!! ????
I hope I don't have to do it too often, pressure washing isn't my favorite job 🤣 but ot definitely seemed to get very slimy, very quickly. So maybe I will.
Thanks for the comment 👍
Martin.
Hi Martin I hope yourself and your family had a great Christmas and I hope this year is great for you. Congrats on the north of the baby. Be nice to your partner.
Had a great Christmas, thank you 😊 hope you did to.
Thank you for the lovely comment.
Martin
El zapatero anda descalzo 😂😂😂😂😂
Haha, I love those sayings. Every country seems to have one. It makes me feel less bad about leaving my garden until last 😅
Thank you
Martin
I was surprised at how well that took the green stuff off. It looks alot better and safer. Please explain to me the purpose of putting sand in the grooves.
Hello, thanks for the comment.
It's not just sand I'd be putting in. But sand and cement (an old fashioned way of saying concrete 😁).
Hope that clarifies everything 🙏
Thanks again
Martin
Just to warn you, i have a similar rig it for the large concrete area i picked up an inexpensive 39cm fsc and an extension with glfan tips. Now I'd ltessure jet the cat it it would stay still long enough
Great job tho, and congrats on in the family extension.
It's been a fun ride 😁
The brand I have is Greenworks (in the US) but they have standardized fittings, so the extensions and fan tips all work too
My surfaces are all concrete and it makes a huge difference vs a turbo, particularly it's faster and doesn't draw lines everywhere.
Cheers
Martin.
You need a longer wand .....break your back with that!
This is true, my back was definitely in tatters after this. 😅
Happy New Year, Catherine 🎉 😊
Great ideas, as always 👍 the V trellis both have clematis growing up them. Or at least when they grow again. I only put them in last year, so hopefully they'll take off a bit more now the roots are well established.
I normally grow my cucumbers in the greenhouse along with tomatoes. Both of which the kids won't leave alone. Last year, they were virtually eating breakfast in the greenhouse 🤣
I'll be doing a few nore videos in the garden, it'll be nice to show you what's going on as I'm sure you'll have some great suggestions.
We seem to be on the same wavelength 😅
All the best
Martin.
Ha ha, I know what you mean by "My partner asked me to do something about it, and I finally did it after I slipped." (paraphrased)
The brakes on my car needed work, and my partner told me he would fix them.
The irony of this wasn't lost on my wife either 😂
I'm glad the breaks on your car finally got fixed! 😁 but my patio needs washing again already. This time I'm going to do it for brownie points before she asks me to do it 👍😁
Inside the drainage grates need cleaning also
That wand is just a wee bit too short for you, eh? You will be stiff later on
100% correct 🤣 it certainly made itself known. I don't help myself sometimes, I'm always stooping over lol.
I need to stand up straight.
Thanks 👍
Martin.
Can you extend the height of your backyard fencing to exclude the top floor apartments of your neighbors from looking in? Thinking of your kids and safety.
6 foot is as high as they are allowed to be. But to be fair, any higher, and it'd look like a prison yard 😅
How could tiles become that green in only two years? I was worried about your back hunching over for so long. Can you get an extension for the wand?
Honestly it wasn't even green at all last year, just a normal level of dirt for a patio. So it's happened in less than a year 🤯
I think whats happened is a combination of more wet weather, which causes my dog to wee on the patio instead of the grass 🤣 it's a bit gross, but I think the extra nitrogen has cased it to go green.
I mite be wrong though. 😅
What about the flags outside the garage door?
They need raising to the level of the main patio, so I'll need to relay them first. Then I'll give em a wash 👍
P.s well spotted sir! You've got good eyes 😁
❤👍
Thank you 😊
Could you use vinegar to kill the green slime?
Yeah, I think it works. I've never tried it on algae and moss to be fair.
I'm going to see how it goes, and see how quickly it comes back. It had been very very wet. So maybe it'll improve as the weather does....if it ever does! 🤣
Great idea though. 👍
How come you get the green off so easy as I have a hard job 😢😢
Hi 👋
There are two different attachments. One that you'd probably use to wash a car with, and the other for brickwork etc. It's called a turbo Lance and is far more powers.
If you're using one of these, it should come up quite nicely 🤞 what sort are you using?
🇧🇷
Do I see 3 grates for drainage, they need investigation
Terrible you had to be nagged to do it. Either of you could have slipped and broken your backs. That said you did a fantastic job, it looks great. Please take care of yourself
Yeah, my partner said the same thing! 🤣
Although in my defense, it wasn't because I was being lazy.
Her biggest gripe was I was busy helping other people instead of doing our garden 😅 I'll try for a happy medium in future.
Happy New Year 😊
All the best,
Martin.
Happy New Year to you too
А кирпичи внизу не помыл.
I didn't notice until after I'd finished 🤣
…where’s your bio- degradable fungicide spray to inhibit repeat moss growth on the patio???….😮
Thank you for the comment.
Much appreciated.
Martin.
wow what a scruff
Cheers 👍😂
