WLtoys 124018 - Pre- First Run Service with Step-By-Step Guide
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 лис 2020
- Hi everyone,
In this video I provide step by step instructions on a Pre- First Run service I performed on one of the latest RC vehicles from WLtoys, the 124018 RTR 1/12 2.4G 4WD. This service involves adjusting the oil levels in the shocks and greasing the differentials. I performed this service before running my 124018 for the first time.
Although this vehicle is marketed as RTR, it has become commonly known that WLtoys have been releasing the 144001 (of which the 124018 and 124019 are spawned from) with insufficient or no grease in the differential gears. The same applies to 124018 and 124019. Furthermore, it has become apparent that the 124018 and 124019 have dampers overfilled with oil, causing stiffness or no shock absorpsion. I performed this service to address these two issues.
You may use the step-by-step instructions within this video as a guide for you to make the same adjustments on your 124018 at your own risk.
Apologies in advance if I have missed any steps in the step-by-step guide. Please comment if you believe I have missed something so I can add it to the caveat notes below.

Hi, I try both way and, as a beginner, I preferred to remove the body shell completely. It’s just 14 screws and you get straight access to everything plus a clear top view!
This is the best instructional video I’ve seen for RC cars! Awesome! 👏👏👏
Thank you so much! Have a great day
Great instructions. Clear and quick. Will put to the test when my 124018 arrives.
Great instructional, m8! I really like the way you composed it!👌😁👌💯
Thanks dude! Much appreciated 😀👍
Great video! Thanks for the clear tutorial!
Thanks for the video, it made my live easy when performing the pre-first-run service.
Hi Ron. Glad to hear this video was useful to you. Thanks very much for the visit. Have a great day!
Thank you very much! It helped me a lot! Cheers from Brazil!
Thanks for the good explenation! Just orderd the car for the good reviews. I did know did this must be dun. Your explenation helps! Thanks from The Nederland
Nice run and service work
Thanks very much mate! Have a nice day
I think these are going to be pretty popular. 😃
Have a great day and be safe out there!
I think you are going to be right! ☺️😁
Thanks very much. You too, stay safe.
Just ordered one for my first RC car. I see my neighbor ripping around with his Rc cars and decided I needed one too. Didn’t want to spend too much on a hobby I haven’t gotten into yet. Maybe later
@@GratefulEd907 good luck 🍀 have a blast.
Ang astig din pla ng mga parts ng ganyang laruan.. ang sarap talaga magkaroon ng ganyan..
oo bro nakaka adik maglikot sa mga parts. hehe
感謝你教我如何調教避震器 受益良多~👍
Thanks for the detailed instructions. I have one on order!
You're welcome. I hope it helps. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for these great tips & sharing my friend! Liked!😁👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
You're welcome. I hope it's helpful. Thanks for watching bro! 😀
Thanks for your help today Micko. I spent hours trying to do what you did. It took so long because I ran into many issues. Eg very tight screws, screws heads that were soft and at risk of losing grip. I was unable to take the cap off any shock. I tried with spanner and pliers, but nothing worked. I was so frustrated I just decided to leave it and only managed to do the greasing of the diffs. I may attempt to do shocks again, I'm just worried to wear the screws or threads. Let alone track where all the screws go haha. I was even taking photos!
Another thing I noticed, the ESC is stuck on with weak glue and can come off fairly easily. I also noticed it is very close to the long metal drive shaft. Got to be careful that it doesn't accidentally touch or rub there, same for the wires.
I managed to put the car together, thanks to your help. I was trying it at 9 pm in the dark but had street lamps on and its own light on too hehe. I was just keen to see it run. Seems good. Hopefully no more screws fall out lol. I'll give it a good run tomorrow in the day time :)
Hi Donovan. You're welcome bro.
For the shocks.. if you pull down the spring you will notice there are flat sides below the threads and you can grip them with a wrench. The shock caps also have flat sides and you can grip them a wrench. Enjoy your new car mate!
Thanks bro for this perfect video will use it when mine arrives 🦾💯🙌🏽
Thanks brother! 😀
Thanks Micko for great instructional vid, the best iv seen. Amazingly my shocks were perfect ouf the box so maybe wlt are listening? Done both diffs, there was some white lithium grease by look of it but i wiped off and used pure silicone grease! It has a high temp point and wont affect rubber seals or plastic parts so ideal. Dont use ordinary mineral grease for this reason! Before you could hear both diffs turning, now they are smooth as silk!!
You're welcome. Thanks very much for watching it. Glad to hear your car is all good!
There were early reports of stiff shocks on the 124019 as well. I received a 124019 weeks later and the shocks were perfect, so it seems they were listening to all the complaints.
Thanks for the tip on grease. Noted! 👍
Thanks for the tips bro👍
Dapat pla talaga alam mo din kung paano magayos ng ganito para mas mapaganda pa ang performance.. nice idol!
Mag research lang para matuto sarili, at praktis mag likotan. Thanks very much bro!
Great 👍 vídeo 👌
In the diffs just make sure that the oil/grease you use is not to viscous as it will put to much pressure on the motor, that will result in more heat being generated then required and end it's life sooner then later. Otherwise very good video.
Thanks
Ang ganda naman.heheh
hehe maraming salamat Carmela
@@MickoRC your welcome popshie
Thank
Idk how you make it look so easy but I was trying to get the shock caps off this thing and it’s solid. I can’t get it off without damaging the threads so I gave up lol
Great video. I appreciate your style. It is my opinion that you have packed too much grease in there. It may slow you down substantially. But way better than too little grease...
Hi Jacob. Thanks for your advice. I shall go easy on the grease next time. 😁 My thought was that as the planetary gears and grease heats up it would let the gears more freely, but I could be quite wrong. 🤭 Stay safe bro and have a Merry Christmas!🎅🏻
👌👍
thanks mate!

There's one more thing i thought you would cover. The 959 uses a very similar, if not the same diff design and on mine and apparently others, when those four screws attaching the large diff gear to the housing are tightened down correctly, the diff becomes far too tight. you could feel the teeth grinding by turning a wheel. Shims are necessary for these and I put some simple paper shims between the two parts to solve the problem. I have a 124018 and 19 on their way and was hoping that issue was solved, or at least mentioned somewhere.
Thanks for this. 👍 I am pinning your comment so that others will see your suggestion and hopefully it helps other viewers. I might even do this to my diffs when I get around to it.
@@MickoRC I got the cars, finally. Both have tight diffs. The 124018 wasn't too bad and has loosened up ok. Was well greased at least. I certainly won't driving the 124019 until I take out the crunch.
@@GBCobber I've since got a 124019 and the diffs were fine. It's just luck of the draw! Enjoy yours cars bro, and stay safe!
The shocks on my 124019 arrived perfect. Not much grease in the diffs though.
Me too bro! I got my 124019 some weeks later and the shocks were perfect. I believe that wltoys addressed the issue for the next batches after the complaints like this one on the 124018 as well as on the earlier 124019s. Thanks for watching! 😊👋
I got my 124018 yesterday, and shocks feel and respond like the after-service shocks in this video. Have to address the diffs though.
Great little RC. Compares to my first 12428 so much smoother and slick.
Great video thank you

What thickness of oils did you use for the diffs and shocks?
Can you please recommend a grease to use.
And should it be RC specific or any mechanic grease?
I'm using normal mechanic grease, and so are many others. All my RCs are cheap, so there's no risk for me I think.
What shock oils did you use i put 27 in mine also does front diff less smooth than the rear diff
Hi there. I didn't change the oil. It's just stock. I didn't notice a difference in the smoothness between the diffs.
@@MickoRC thanks there great cars
Hallo bro.. i dont know..i cant drive straight with this car... for bashing on field this car perfect..but for straight run on street.. i cant handle.. the steering to "wild"
Con que engrasas
Like a hours rework because sombody is all about numbers
🤑
What oil did you use for the shocks?
core-rc silicon 800 cst
Okies, tenks
Be nice if they would do this in tha factory..
I think they need to recalibrate the machine that manufactures the shocks 😁
for the front and rear shock how many ml is the shock oil capacity?
and what grease to use the gear lubricant??
I don't know the shock oil capacity. I've never emptied and refilled them. I just use automotive grease for the diffs.
Way too much grease put in, overdoing the grease generates friction, heat, and more stress on motor.
Bah... She'll be right, mate!
yep,but unfortunately it's all wrong
it's a toy dude. there's no right or wrong 🤣
