    Severely limit carbs and alcohol. Get sun exposure. Lots of omega 3 in things like sardines, salmon, oysters, etc. Whole cuts of beef, lamb, pork, chicken, etc. Bacon and eggs. Time-restricted eating. Good sleep regularly. Moderate exercise like regular walking, maybe some HIIT. Choose not to stress -- be loving, humble, patient, and kind. Trust God, and hope for the best.

    My sweet husband WAS a carb junkie. He doesn't drink or smoke but processed food, Dr. Pepper, and potatoes were his drug of choice. Years ago, he was put on meds for high blood pressure, high uric acid, and a statin. The statin literally took away all quality of life (every brand) and he stopped the statins. A couple years ago he got a CAC score of 500 and then a couple months ago he got a 5.7 on his A1C. Now he's doing low carb and dropped 20 pounds. He's 6'3 and 209lb. He's doing good! Only God knows how long he'll be on this Earth, but it is wise to take responsibility for your health. I've learned doctors do not have all the answers or a crystal ball. Appreciate this doctor's points of view!

    Don't worry about appearances. Just stay down to earth. We're here for the information. Woman here. Thank you for addressing female hearts! My experience, long story short, upper back pain, between shoulder blades. Take your breath away pain...level 8,9... Several times a day. Blood pressure shooting from 117 to 197 (husband took it for me), for 20 minutes at a time. Emergency room diagnosis ...nope just fine. Two months of this, multiple cardiologists. I knew I was dying. Finally a cardiologist, one and a half hours away, said " you've driven a long distance and seen a lot of doctors so I guess we can check you out." I feel he really didn't believe me either. It was 90% LAD blockage.

    I am a so an who just survived a window maker. I believe if had not have switched to a keto carnivore diet last year I would never have survived it. Pre heart attack I was sweating a lot more especially during the night. I would get nauseated often as well. I am asthmatic and my shortness of breath would come on often and not be elevated with my puffers. I also had tacky cardia. I would go to emergency and heart readings would be normal and I was labeled as someone who suffered anxiety. Meanwhile the window maker was building and building until the dam broke and ended with a hematoma rupture in my LAD.

    I’m a 45 yr old Firefighter. 6’3” 225 athletic body type. I have had 2 stents in and subsequently a bypass of my LAD in the last 2 years. I have never had high blood pressure or Cholesterol levels. I surf, hunt, crossfit, run don’t drink soda or eat lots of sugar. I had a once a week Adair with a Whooper and onion rings but the stress and lack of sleep due to my occupation white rice (a staple in Hawaii) and pasta is on the menu daily when your feeding a handful of hungry men. I did drink roughly 12-18 beers a week, vaped irregularly. I have been back to work for a month after a 8month lay off 2 waiting for surgery 4 recovering 2 on desk duty. I feel ok but still have pains. I have quit drinking altogether and cut almost all carbs and definitely no more Whoopers. Diet and sleep.

      They now include firefighter deaths 24 hours after duty as LODD. Studies are showing that exposure to extreme heat environments and working in those conditions increases clotting factors in the blood. It pretty much makes blood thicker causing clots to form more easily in people that are in peak physical condition. So Firefighters are dying within 24 hours of being on duty by heart attacks.

    Does high Lp(a) come into play with this? I met a girl who was diagnosed with 20% blockage in her LAD at 30 and she tested high for Lp(a). I also have really high Lp(a) at 380 nmol/L but haven’t had any heart issues to date and I’m almost 40. I am also a health fanatic and have been since I was 30. Before I cut out raw milk/butter and meat from my diet my particle count was almost 1900 and my LDL was 194, my small LDL particles were also really high as well as Lp-Pla2 activity and that was when I was eating mostly plants but also having butter and raw milk daily and red meat almost daily and since I cut those things out my particles are now under 1100 and my LDL small particles are almost in range and my LDL-C is 112. I’ll also add no one in my family has lived past 70, all died from heart attacks/disease, and their diet was high in meat and lard. My mom is 70, has elevated Lp(a) at 110 nmol/L but has really low LDL, at 80, and has never had heart issues and eats mostly plant based and eats salmon 3 times a week. So, I think for my family we shouldn’t have a high saturated fat diet. That might be ok for someone else but not for us.

    • @dontfit6380

      @@dontfit6380 bless your heart. I appreciate the feedback but I don’t need it. I literally only changed one thing and that was animal products, that’s it. I still eat fish and an egg a day. My LDL-went from 194 to 112. My LDL-P were almost 1900 and they should be under 1000 but now they are under 1100, my LDL-small particles were through the roof and now they are not. My Crp was 2.4 and now it’s 1.0. My homocysteine was was over 18 and now it’s 10. So, thanks for the input but you don’t know what you are talking about. No one in my family has lived past 70 and they all ate high saturated fat diets with veggies covered in lard. My mom is the only one who didn’t eat that way and is 70 now, has an LDL-C of 80 and has ZERO heart problems. All 5 of her siblings died in their early and mid 60’s, but not her. A suspicious mole can be a “widowmaker”-or not. An elevated PSA test can be a widowmaker-or not.
    A swollen lymph node can be a “widowmaker”-or not.
    CAC in the LAD is not something to be ignored but it is not metastatic cancer. It is not habitually driving recklessly or under the influence.
    The term is intended to frighten and it achieves that end remarkably well.
    Kaplan-Meir data (which is not fail-safe) suggested that when the LAD was the “culprit artery” five-year mortality was less than 15%-not optimal but not horrific, either.
    The point is, there are numerous conditions that could justifiably be called “the widowmaker”. As a matter of fact, there was only about a 2.5% difference in five-year mortality between a CAC burden in the LAD and the RCA (right coronary artery). That’s a 1:40 difference and yet, someone is told the former can mean sudden death while the latter is rarely mentioned.
    Go figure.

    • @PrevMedHealth
      @PrevMedHealth  Рік тому +4

      Yes. “Widowmaker” is a fear-driving term. It clouds things instead of clarifying.

    • @PianoUniverse
      @PianoUniverse Рік тому

      Having worked in a cath lab for many years, a widow maker ie proximal LAD blockage is much worse than an RCA or Crx blockage. Many have collateral circulation on the right and crx, some are co dominate and if the lesions are distal you can recover from a heart attack. With the prox LAD everything distal goes down and its pretty much catastrophic and the patient dies on the spot. That being said RCA and other location can kill you too.

    Hi Doctor I'm 46 years old. I just went to the Hospital for some chest pressure and some pain in my left arm.
    I was admitted due to my tropinin levels at 154. Dropping to as low as 96. I had an EKG and it was normal. I also had an ultrasound of my heart and and the cardiologist said my measurements were great.
    He said my triponin levels were interpreted by the old method and that the new method showed that I was at low risk for heart attack at the moment.
    My cholesterol levels were high, my blood pressure was in 140/80s. I was discharged with a set of meds: low dose BP med, statin, and nitro.
    He wants me to do a 360 degree monitoring of my heart pre-tracer and with a tracer to see what may be going on with my heart.
    I don't want a Stent and want to use other options to reduce any possible blockage.
    I've never taken statins due to concerns but now I plan on doing it. I will take all my meds as prescribed.
    Can I succeed in reversal of any possible blockage?
    I want to do the least invasive method. Look forward to your response. And any help. Thank you.

      My sister was having symptoms of shortness of breath dizziness fatigue confusion she's been on high blood pressure medicine for about 10 years she was coughing and lost Consciousness it was a heart attack she went into the hospital test after test but the angiogram revealed she had a Widowmaker Plus she had a stent put in no longer needs high blood pressure medicine she is on a fruit vegetable whole grain plant-based mostly diet she's on an exercise routine Guided by physical therapist the artery in her neck however is clogged up so she is watching her diet very carefully and hopes to not have to have another stent put in that area looking to keep it from building up anymore so she can avoid that if possible
