@@ppacific9245 my goodness! That is so exciting to hear. Four times, wow! I believe Princess Diana would have loved Princess Catherine, and those beautiful children. The ring is beautiful, but far too ostentatious as an engagement ring. Even for royalty. I felt sorry for, now, Princess Catherine to have to wear that ring.
During chemo fingers may swell or as we saw with Catherine, the Princess of Wales, weight loss happens to many. She may have put the sapphire ring in a safe spot so it wouldn’t slip off and be lost. If Prince William gave her something to wear in the meantime, good for him. She has been through ALOT and the new ring may signify a new beginning and recommitment to life.
I have metastatic breast cancer and I have lost weight due to chemo, even in my hands. I have had to get a smaller ring for a while. I imagine Princess Catherine may have had to do the same thing.
I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, and I hope that you are doing well! That is definitely a possibility and maybe the ring became a bit loose and a little too uncomfortable. Thanks for watching!!
I do love "big blue" as well and was so excited to see her wearing it the first time! Having had cancer myself, I'll echo that being ill and undergoing treatment changed my ring size a few times over the years I was being treated. In fact, one doctor suggested I wait to get the ring re-sized until my body had a chance to fully recover from the ups and downs of cancer. I ended up using a cheaper ring for a while, especially after my wedding ring slipped off a couple of times and I almost lost it! On a day when she is at the beach or in the forest, I can definitely see Catherine leaving a loose and VERY expensive ring at home just to make sure it didn’t slip off in that environment.
I love this ring and never made the connection between Prince Alberts wedding brooch until now. Marvelous! I’m so glad Diana chose this ring. And I love her new sapphire and diamond eternity band, it’s lovely.

Completely agree. Not surprised she is wearing the eternity band. The sapphire ring is really big. I have a 3,5 carat diamond & that is big & gets in the way frequently 🤷♀️🤷♀️
I've loved that ring since Lady Diana, then Princess Diana wore it. I was so happy when Prince William gave it to her especially his thoughts of having his mum there seeing she'd passed on. It may of gotten to big so she's pit it away for safe keeping as not to loose it. You can definitely tell Princess Catherine is much thinner now. I have a copy set with a necklace, Bracelet, Earrings and that Ring. I love my set.
I didn't like it before, but I think through the years of watching her wear it, and watching her grow into the Princess of Wales that she is I think it's more beautiful now than it ever was before. I think with Princess Diana there was sooo much anguish also attached to that ring that it was almost palpable to her wear it.
Sorry to have to correct you, Brittany. The ring is a 12 carat sapphire, set with 18 carat white gold surrounded by 14 brilliant cut diamonds (not 14 solitaire diamonds, solitaire is a single diamond and to say 14 solitaire diamonds is an oxymoron). Keep up the good work, I love your UA-cam channel.
My husband bought me a sapphire and diamond band. I wear it paired with another wider diamond band instead of my wedding ring and engagement ring. The fact those bands sit flat against my finger is more comfortable and secure for me. My engagement ring is a one of a kind and I’m always afraid of damaging it or losing the main stone.
The speculation about her ring was ridiculous. I don't wear mine unless I'm going out. Three things are taken off the second I walk in the door.. Shoes, Bra and jewelry. I cant imagine her wearing that famous and valuable ring down the beach.
My ring has 42 diamonds. I wear it always. I chainsaw wood run log splitter use power tools build things paint housework etc. so far I've never had any problems and it's extremely large. I hate removing a meaningful ring like my wedding band or engagement ring.
I love the engagement ring. I like different stones. Diamonds, while beautiful, look the same unless they are ridiculously huge. This ring is iconic and it looks lovely on her hand.
@@JustinBieber166516 - It depends on the stone, of course but oftentimes the size, carat of a stone is indicative of the price. But clarity and cut are important, too.

Thanks lovely Brittany! Hello and blessings to all! I love the engagement ring, I think it looks magical. I love the other rings too, what I can see of them! :)
I read that Diana chose the sapphire & diamonds ring because (quite sensibly) it was the largest in the assortment presented to her; iirc at the time it cost a very modest (for royalty) £30,000 - although of course this was back in the early 1980s, when it would have represented a great deal more than it does nowadays. Also believe I read that Prince Philip had the engagement ring (and later a bracelet) custom-made from diamonds that came from his mother's collection of jewellery for twin reasons... a) it was romantic, b) as a member of a deposed royal house he didn't have the money to buy such a ring from a renowned jeweller, providing the most expensive elements - the diamonds - was the most frugal option. Since his mother became a nun in the order she founded, she had no need of jewellery but kept the pieces she still had (I seem to recall she had sold pieces on earlier occasions to fund her religious order's needs) and was very happy to provide her son with the means to give his royal fiancée-then-bride with jewellery befitting her status.
I always heard the story that Harry chose Diana's ring after her death and William chose a bracelet. It is Harry who told William he should propose to Catherine with his mother's ring. I think I heard Harry said: it is a good thing that this ring will be one day on the throne.
The story changed quite a bit, but Harry's official version is that William always had access to the ring for his use. It's Paul Burrell's story that the boys each chose a piece, Harry the ring and William her watch. Burrell is not the most reliable narrator, so I wouldn't put too much stalk in his version. Thanks for watching!!
There's another ring that I believe HRH The Princess of Wales owns. It's yellow gold with alternating garnets (Catherine's birthstone) and pearls (William's). IIRC it was described as a promise ring.
It is a very large ring an absolutely priceless, so perhaps Catherine prefers something smaller when not on public duties. I think this is perfectly reasonable and understandable. I am sure we will continue to see it when Catherine is out in public
Just for information and I pass it respectfully. Princess Diana’s sapphire is a Ceylon ( pronounced sea-lawn) . Ceylon sapphires largely come from Sri Lanka and are very sought after for their natural colour.
I love the ring so much my own engagement ring was design to look like princess diana’s ring (smaller stone of course with yellow gold)…plus it is my birth stone too!
What I have noticed with Diana's ring, is that yes it is huge but Diana actually had quite big hands...as does Catherine, so it sits on their hands really nicely, I can't imagine either of them in a diamond ring really 🙂 I think that ring she is wearing in the recent video, is her everyday ring aka off duty ring..I think it is Garnet and Pearl which is their birthstones...Garnet for Catherine (January) Pearl for William (June)...I think William brought that for her when they were first dating as a friendship ring.....could be wrong, its been known to happen lol
The sapphire isn’t exactly something I would wear but there’s no question that it’s a gorgeous ring. Even I take my rings off as soon as I get home and mine are no where near the size of hers. So I can imagine the size of it plays a big factor in changing out her rings at home. Also, I love the mix matched look she has going with her rings currently! It’s very unique and it’s like a story told over time in a way.
Diana’s ring had to be made smaller for Catherine to wear after William’s proposal so rather than have the band resized she had small gold orbs soldered into the ring band to make the ring smaller. I had read that somewhere
Princess Catherine said during a walkabout that the ring fit her perfectly, and she would never have altered the ring because of its importance to William.
I never wanted a diamond engagement ring. After Diana's premiered, I found a sapphire and diamond double circle in white gold that was perfect! We bought at Best Products and it is still stunning today! Mind, it was far more affordable than Diana's 😅
He certainly does and Charlotte has the same face...people say she looks like Elizabeth which is genetically ridiculous. Charlotte has the Diana look. The sons are more Middleton.
It's quite a cumbersome ring to wear on a daily basis. I think out of love for William Catherine wore ring on a regular basis. Now though, I personally think Catherine should wear ring these days on official engagements only.
The sapphire is a 12-carat Ceylon sapphire. Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) is famous for its sapphires, from dark blue like Diana’s through to cornflower blue and even white and pink. And if you travel there it’s quite easy to get a good jeweller to make a copy of any of these pieces but at a lower budget.
The ring is probably not being worn as her fingers have thinned through her treatment, the engagement ring, given the size and weight of the stones, would easily slip off if her fingers are thinner.
Brittany, I agree that W learnt from his parents' mistake that he wanted the iconic ring to be remembered for sth other than his parents' failed marriage. Owing to the vile rumors about W&C's marriage I think the video was to say, we are happily married and we want our children, people who believe us in to know that what we share is true since the open story about his parents marriage failure did affect him and Harry as a child and it is important for the monarchy going forward to show we can love and be loved.
Probably a size and comfort issue, I lost a lot of weight and can't wear my engagement ring on the correct finger now, my wedding ring is also too big but I don't want to take it off and send it away for resizing so I wear an eternity ring my husband got me as a 'keeper' ring. 'Keeper' rings were fairly common here in the UK.
Love the ring but can understand being the mother of 3 she would not always wear it. I do wish Catherine would wear some of the other sapphire jewellery from the collection. We rarely see her wear the necklace (which is also a brooch) etc. I love how Camilla has been raiding the royal jewellery vaults & wearing pieces not seen for years. 🇦🇺🇦🇺
British journalist Russell Myers said when the Olympic video came out that William had given Catherine a “promise” ring when they were attending university. It was made up of garnets and pearls to represent their birthdays. He thought that was the ring she was wearing in the video. I don’t think he’s correct as this eternity band appears to be sapphire and diamonds. Perhaps an anniversary present from William?
Chemotherapy causes dramatic, weight, loss and heavy things against the skin can be uncomfortable. It wouldn’t surprise me if she’s not wearing it because it’s too big for her now and it’s just too heavy for her to feel comfortable. I love the eternity band. I wish her all the happiness and health for her and her young family.
The ring has become a hallmark of Princess of Wales with nods to the Prince Albert brooch. The many levels of provenance associated with an irreplaceable item is something that needs to be addressed. If one was beholden to a priceless heirloom, walking through thick vegetation is probably not the best place to be adorning said item... Now if it was Camilla, her engagement ring was from the hidden Greville collection that was inherited by the Queen Mother. (No Royal Provenance just a "GIFT")
My understanding is that Catherine’s finger was slightly smaller than Diana’s and so instead of having the jeweler resize it, which involves using a torch and high heat and which could have possibly damaged the stones, she had two platinum balls placed on the inside of the band which took care of the half size larger issue. This is very commonly done with jewelry that you don’t or can’t resize. Of course it’s only if the ring it too big, it would have had to be resized if it had been too small but Catherine and Diana are slender women so it worked out well. Catherine also appears to have gotten thinner while on chemo so she’s probably not wearing her engagement ring at the present time and the new ring is most likely smaller and will hold her gold wedding band on securely.
It really is too large for everyday wear…. She must have had a scare and was afraid of damaging it and decided to wear a lower-profile ring. Which is also very lovely!
Oh, I didn't even think about an incident leading to the change! That is a fantastic thought! She seemed to wear it pretty much all the time, even when she was caught out and about, so something must have happened. Thanks for watching!!
I think Princess Catherine 👸 is not wearin her ring, because she cherish so much, she wants to keep it safe, especially being from Princess Diana. And just wear it mayhe for especial events.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I do wish Catherine would bust out more of the sapphire jewels from the royal vaults. HMKCIII adores her and would let her have almost anything she could wish to wear. ❤
There is also a ring made especially for it to grip the fi ger somewhat, in order to ensure that the engagement ring doesn't slide down fpher finger as well. You can see it in many photos as well.
PoW had to resize the ring one size down. It was made smaller by soldering little balls inside of the shank. The ring also has had a couple of more claws added.
the sapphire was a good choice right before diamonds became lab grown. It was a shift away from the largest diamond race-which are now very low for very high carats and attainable by everyone. A deep sapphire is going to be hard to match, hard to obtain, and now in demand as alternatives.
During chemo, you lose weight, and most of the time, the rings become loose, so most of the time, people wear their wedding or casual rings for a few months or a year or two until they get better. It's common nothing to speculate about.
Actually, the sapphire engagement ring was a little too big for Catherine, so, Gerad put platinum beads inside the ring to make it fit Catherine. She didn’t want to resize the ring.
Maybe she took off her engagement ring so she can show her new eternity ring that Price William gave her, it would be have to see if you a huge sapphire sitting above it. The fact that Prince William gave her an eternity ring after her chemotherapy symbolises their never ending deep love and connection for each other. It’s Prince will promise to always love and cherish her ♾️ forever and Princess Catherine is very proud of her new ring and wants to she it off to the world 🤍💙🤍.
No Brittany! The book you read has it wrong. Diana Spencer chose her engagement ring from TRAYS that were BROUGHT TO HER by Garrard's to Buckingham Palace. WHY would the future Queen of England be handed a catalogue? How could she try on the ring? Diana spoke of choosing her ring from a TRAY in an interview. Specifically--Diana recalled she choose the sapphire ring because, "It was the biggest ring on the tray, and I popped it off and put it on my finger!" NOT because it was blue, had a mystical meaning to her, or anything else. SHE SAID she chose the ring because it was so huge. I saw the interview, heard her say it. Reportedly, The Crown (Which I did not watch) showed her choosing the ring from A TRAY. My Mom was still alive when William gave Catherine the ring. A very tasteful, intuitive woman my Mom said quietly, "I would NOT want THAT ring, never! She (Diana) wore that ring causing nothing but upset, trouble, chaos, having fits, running around with other men, screaming to the press for a divorce, or how terrible Prince Charles and the Queen were to her, gets a divorce, then even meaner, then killed in a violent car crash...no way would I want THAT ring." When I stated Diana wasn't wearing the ring when she was killed in the car crash, Mom came back, "I DON'T CARE. I would NOT want that ring!" (Me neither, it's huge, ugly & tacky.) Who would believe Netflix got history right? (Tip: Don't do your 'research' by reading other people's books who obviously don't consult actual sources. There are TONS of archival footage of Diana available to hear her own words, directly from her (Aside from the infamous BBC interview.) Primary sources are the ONLY reliable source.
I read that it didn’t fit, they didn’t want to change the ring by making it smaller, so the added white gold little spheres so that the ring would fit better.
It was clear that after her chemo treatment, Catherine had lost some weight and the engagement ring was swivelling freely around her finger. It's not difficult to imagine that William has given her a custom-made ring that incorporates a sapphire with diamonds in an eternity ring to symbolise her recovery and hope for their future. Just a guess on my part. Eternity rings are usually given after the birth of a child, so this may also be relevant to that sapphire & diamond eternity ring. Who knows?
I love the ring. I love the sentiment behind it & that Princess Diana wore it even after her divorce shows that she loved it too. I think Prince William was proud to give it to Catherine, The Princess of Wales, as being something his mother loved, even if the reason & meaning for it faded for her. What I don’t really like is that it’s paired with yellow gold. I do LOVE that the band is Welsh gold, I just wish it was white gold, like her eternity band. I hate mixed metal colors. I actually don’t even like platinum, white gold & sterling silver together, as they all absorb light differently. I prefer sterling silver to all white metals, as it shines brightest of the three. I don’t care about cost! I want bright & no tarnish. Platinum has to be cleaned almost every day to stay bright. I’m just going by what I’ve seen. Anyway, it’s lovely & matches William’s eyes now. ♥️
I've always loved that ring. I love blue and, in turn, sapphires. But I am sure in day to day life that ring catches on things or may even scratch the kids on occasion. I don't think it's for fetch to think she has a more toned down one for homelife
I've heard that MM tried to get Brother Charles involved in trying to get the sapphire ring back since Hasbeen was supposed to have favored it first. Like at this point she's ever getting it!
NO MYSTERY! she said it catches on clothing all the time and Princess Diana said the same and it spoilt her favourite jumper which was replace by the designer. Sorry you are WRONG it was not from a catalogue the head jeweller came to Kensington Place to Princess Diana and she chose from a tray of rings, he bought many with him for her to choose from on the day.
She carries the ring well Not all women can wear a large stone like this I’m happy she has a band of sapphire and diamonds to wear for now or in place of when she feels like switching it up. I’m sure when she comes back to public duties that “big blue” will be on her finger Also his mother picked it out, not Charles She kept it after the divorce too So it’s definitely thought of as Diana’s and not so much her wedding ring which she did take off and not where anymore
I would imagine that the Garrard’s sapphire and diamond ring would be heavy on the hand. If memory serves, it’s a 12 karat sapphire, with probably a couple of karat’s worth of diamonds. A smaller ring would be more comfortable to wear. And having gone through surgery and chemotherapy (and Heaven only knows what else), Catherine is probably wanting a more comfortable ring to wear. I also imagine the new diamond and sapphire ring has been bought to celebrate the end of her chemo treatments.
It's a magnificent engagement ring. It's totally iconic. For me, its colour is too dark blue, which blacks out. I prefer more bright cornflower blue 💙 because it shows the colour at a distance. I'm sure the diamonds are D in colour and flawless. Diana's ring 💍 is still lovely and opulent

I love sapphires. I engagement ring is also sapphire.
Prince William looks so much like his mom.
He really does!!
He certainly does and Charlotte has the same face...people say she looks like Elizabeth which is genetically ridiculous. Charlotte has the Diana look. The sons are more Middleton.
I love rubies!!! Pink, red, purple, love those colors!
Thanks sweet Brittany, form an old (rebel), Pinkie
Maybe it's a gift from William symbolizing their future (eternity) and new life after cancer.
❤❤❤
You are correct but it’s the garnet and pearl ring she is wearing
If she lost weight with chemo, it could be an option without altering the main ring. Or it’s her casual ring. Still beautiful.
That's a strong possibility. Thanks for watching!!
My mum heard not wearing hee engagement ring something 2 do with chemo not sure if my mum read a click bait article
Praise the lord that the ring did not landed on Harry / Meghan’s hand! 😅
(No Royal Provenance just a "GIFT")
my engagement ring is sapphire with diamonds too...diamond shaped setting
👑
It really is too large for everyday wear…. She must have had a scare and was afraid of damaging it and decided to wear a lower-profile ring. Which is also very lovely!
Oh, I didn't even think about an incident leading to the change! That is a fantastic thought! She seemed to wear it pretty much all the time, even when she was caught out and about, so something must have happened. Thanks for watching!!
I did just that. While I love the diamonds my husband gave me, a simple band is far more practical for everyday use!
I wouldn’t want a ring that belonged to someone with an unhappy marriage. That wouldn’t sit well with me.
There is also a ring made especially for it to grip the fi ger somewhat, in order to ensure that the engagement ring doesn't slide down fpher finger as well. You can see it in many photos as well.
Hi Brittany. I love this ring. 🙂
Aww, it wasn't my favorite at first but it's grown on me! Thanks for watching!!
So very happy to see you. ❤
Her ring may be slightly too large after chemo too, but it’s a large ring to wear playing on the beach…what if she lost it ?!
Thank goodness it didn’t go to Harry’s wife. What a shame and a loss that would be
❤😊❤
Thanks for watching!!
I thoughtnitmwas a bit big so had for Catherine so she had little beads placed in it so it fits better rather than re sizing it....
The ring represents his mother’s memory not the marriage
Maybe it was a bit loose having gone through chemo treatment.
I didn’t realize how much William sounded like his father when he was younger.
I've heard that MM tried to get Brother Charles involved in trying to get the sapphire ring back since Hasbeen was supposed to have favored it first. Like at this point she's ever getting it!
Nice that they didn't walk in holding hands like ridiculous Meg and Harry.
At least it would have been appropriate if they had been holding hands.
NO MYSTERY! she said it catches on clothing all the time and Princess Diana said the same and it spoilt her favourite jumper which was replace by the designer. Sorry you are WRONG it was not from a catalogue the head jeweller came to Kensington Place to Princess Diana and she chose from a tray of rings, he bought many with him for her to choose from on the day.
She carries the ring well
Not all women can wear a large stone like this
I’m happy she has a band of sapphire and diamonds to wear for now or in place of when she feels like switching it up.
I’m sure when she comes back to public duties that “big blue” will be on her finger
Also his mother picked it out, not Charles
She kept it after the divorce too
So it’s definitely thought of as Diana’s and not so much her wedding ring which she did take off and not where anymore
My birthstone is sapphire my birthday is September 12th so the sapphire I love sapphires any color sapphires
Could it be a mother's ring?
That's an interesting idea!
