Yes, the Carmichael tartan of our family has mainly blue and green but we were given the privilege of wearing the Royal Stewart after the Battle of Beauges. The family crest features a broken spear. Tout Jours Prest!

Since she inherited most of the Queen's private collection, I bet it frosts that black widow.
Actually, most of the Queen’s collection was probably left to the Crown, with a few exceptions. The reason is that if it is left to the monarch, you don’t have to pay inheritance taxes! So Catherine will be able to use them, but I imagine most of the collection rests with Camilla. Thanks for watching!!
This collection is passed down from one Monarch to the next. Pieces are never given to individuals, for several good reasons. One, when the Monarch inherits the collection, it is free of death duties, which are huge-about 40% of the value of the piece. If an individual were to inherit something, they would have to pay that death duty tax, and be responsible for insurance, maintenance, and security. The cost would be horrifying. Also by having the Monarch owning it all, all the Royal ladies have access to the entire collection, so they all can always find something suitable for an occasion. And finally, if a piece is given away and the recipient leaves the family and takes it with them, it would be lost forever to the collection. (There are also of course pieces that are privately owned by individuals that can be willed to anyone they want, like Diana’s engagement ring that was left to Harry, who later gave it to William for Catherine, but the value of these things would not be in the millions.)
@@lap8329 Yes, Exactly! The Danish Royal Family lost quite a few tiaras from being given to ladies who then left the royal family through divorce, or through not being part of the main line. It's such a pity- I hope they create a trust like the British Royal family has and are able to grow their collection.

Sadly, the late queen did not inherit Queen Mary's gift for jewelry design. The Burmese Ruby and the aquamarine tiaras are crimes against good taste.
The sapphire earrings Catherine is shown wearing were originally part of the necklace. Queen Elizabeth had the necklace shortened and the two links that were removed were turned into a pair of earrings.

However, please listen to a few videos of the family members talking over the years. You will hear all of them, including the beautiful Princess herself, referred to as Catherine.

How fun for Princess Catherine. The Princess is a wonderful heir to Queen Elizabeth. The private collection of jewelry must be like a kid in a candy store. To open drawers full of sparkle and glam. During this time of ill health she can visit with Charlotte trying on sparkles for ribbons, and trinkets and even enough for her toes. Makes me happy just to think about it. May God help her be better soon. She is a deserving subject.

It’s funny that you showed this brooch and talking about coming over on the ship. That’s how I came to Canada as a little girl we came on a boat. My poor mama was seasick the whole way here unfortunately ended up having to go back to Italy maybe a year after we got here, because my grandmother passed away, after about eight months back in Italy. My parents decided to come again, but we flew there and we flew back. It’s how it was done back then you come over on the boat. I would’ve love that it’s too bad they don’t do that anymore as like a cruise maybe they do and I just don’t know about it, I’d love to do it though

Queen Elizabeth definitely tended to like chunkier jewellery,I’m not a fan of the Nizam necklace either.Catherine has a long elegant neck so she would suit some of Queen Mary or Alexandra’s necklaces and chokers which didn’t necessarily suit either of the Elizabeth’s with their shorter necks(they often had links taken out of necklaces because of that)
When will everyone refer to her as Catherine Princess of Wales, she's not Kate Middleton anymore. Hope she's getting privacy the family wanted and that Princess Catherine will come back beside PW when she's ready

You are bringing back so many great memories that picture of Princess of Wales in her white dress and red hat was for Canada day on Parliament hill and I was there and very excited to see both Princess Catherine and Prince William.
You asked if the Late Queen had another set of sapphires in the same league as the ones she received from Saudi Arabia. She sure did - it’s the George VI Sapphire necklace and earrings - a wedding gift from her father. She wore them many times over the years, one famous time being when the Kennedys visited Buckingham Palace.
I would love to see photos hopefully Brittany can make her next video show casing that set

The Necklace that was the wedding present from India was my favorite. Catherine looks STUNNING in the short sleeve navy dress with her hair down and the necklace.

The best stand alone piece imo is the necklace from India but my favorite overall look was the Canadian brooch with the blue (Mqueen?) dress. Such a great cut and color and it really makes the brooch pop.
