Pete, once again, thank you so much! Just one year ago, I had never even heard the great music of The Outlaws. Now, thanks to your videos cluing me in, they are my *favorite Southern rock* band! Similarly, until recently, I hadn't heard any of Henry Paul's solo music. "Grey Ghost" is *such* an under-rated, classic, Southern rock album!!
Exactly how I would rank them. Henry Paul is a national treasure to us Southern Rock fanatics. Billy Crane is an absolute monster player had the pleasure of seeing him many times with Henry live. I encourage everyone to see the Outlaws when you can safely see live music again. You will not be disappointed.Great show Pete!!!!
They opened for the Stones on few dates '81 tour. Good reception from the crowd. Not booed offstage like Prince. But then again, they didn't come out in g- strings.
Can't argue with that ranking. The first two are incredible. I think So Long and Grey Ghost are their best songs but track for track Feel The Heat well... brings the heat. LOL

I should also add Billy Crain has a number of solo albums besides playing with the Outlaws for a bit. Wally Dentz played with The Bellamy Brothers and Barry Rapp has toured with Derek Trucks. Jim Fish (a friend, mentor and my former guitar teacher) played with Silver Chicken (an Albany Band befor the HPB) andThe Byron Berline Band and appeared on a couple of their CDs. Byron is a famous Fiddle player who has played with tones of people. I believe he even played on a Stones track.

But damn I love Henry Paul so much that I asked this Hispanic guy wearing their shirt who they were & he didn't know, so I made him take off the shirt & give it to me...right then ...in the middle of a Nashville street. I threw him one of my old tees cuz dude just wanted a work shirt & got it at thrift store. Don't be wearing the shirt if you don't know the jams. I didn't want to fight the guy (I'm a chick, but I could then) Love me some Henry Paul.
For the most part Henry Paul Band very enjoyable but one who was an early Outlaw fan I expected more but still fun and drinking in a bar party time good!
The only two I've heard are Grey Ghost & Feel The Heat. I like Grey Ghost best, for sure. Feel The Heat seemed like it was really going for that .38 Special thing, only not as good. Thanks for the video, Pete!
That HENRY PAUL album from 82 is pretty good especially the first song Nightline that is so well put together but some of the others are a bit weak with the synth sound over riding it..
went to see Rossington Collins Band 1980 opening Bands "Point Blank" and "Henry Paul Band" .... Point Blank Guitarist Rusty Burns and Kim Davis fricking Killer. the Henry Paul Band Guitarist Billy Crain and David Fiester Bad ass David Fiester played every Vintage guitar there is during the show and tore it up.

Please spend some time to inform Southern rockers about South Mexico Gulf Coast Texan jazzy drummer and blues singer wailing Jimmy Reed styling harmono mouth extraordinare the very great Donnie McCormick and his amazing crew of the Original Eric Quincy Tate Group signed by management during the Summer of 1969 by Phil Walden and Associates actually during the organization of the Capricorn Records of Macon Georgia. First LP released in January 1970 by Atlantic Records. It was produced by Tony Joe White, Jerry Wexler, and Tom Dowd recorded during the Fall of 1969 at Sounds of Memphis Studio and Criteria Studio in Miami Tony Joe White and the Dixie Flyers and the Memphis Horns and was released in January of 1970 and reissued in 2006 on Rhino Records/Atlantic Records/Warner Brothers with most of the Macon demo cuts, an unissued cutout, and rehearsal tunes. Second LP on Capricorn Records recorded during 1971 and released in March of 1972 called Drinking Man's Friend had several regional hits Brown Sugar, Whiskey Woman Blues, Texas Sand, and Can't Come Home. There were plenty of recordings and demos rejected by Capricorn Executives. Three songs released in 1975 charted with No Rolling Boogie reaching #44, Chattahoochee Coochie Man #89 and Food Phone Gas and Lodging reached #88 on country charts. A live Jimmy Rodgers medley was 19 minutes long and received airplay on AOR radio stations in Boston, Albany New York, Syracuse New York, Bethesda Maryland, Memphis to Knoxville Tennessee, and Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. The third LP recorded in 1974 and released in 1975 was available on GRC Records for only 6 weeks before declaration of bankruptcy. There have been a total of 16+ cds released by Dass player David Cantonwine and 4 or 5 solo LPs by McCormick, 2 by slide guitarist Tommy Carlyle, and 1 cd by 2nd lead guitarist Wayne The Bear Sauls. Great music which was seminal to the rise of Southern Blues Rock and Jazz. Musician's musicians!
I know it is Henry Paul’s band.But a band name would’ve been more appropriate for that group for marketing purposes. People remember more a name like Outlways instead of Henry Paul' band.
I mostly agree with you but imo Grey Ghost is a masterpiece that rivals ANY Outlaws album and Feel The Heat is merely "really great." Didn't care much for either of the following albums.
Have to totally disagree on rankings. Feel the Heat was a very poorly produced album with a terrible empty sound. The song itself was great! The rest terrible. Grey Ghost is obviously the #1 pick here. Classic through and through. Feel the Heat is without question # 3.
Jim was from Albany NY. He and Henry were roommates in NYC before the Florida move.

A talented song writer, singer and guitarist. Grey ghost for me, another landmark in so many southern landmarks.
Saw them in concert in 1979. One of the best concerts ive been to. Had no idea who they were at the time. Total shock.

Nightline is a monster tune that sounds good very loud.
I'm glad I picked up all his cds when wounded bird released them years ago..they are expensive nowadays.
I found that out the hard way. I've kicking myself for not getting them when they came out.
