    I've had this for a year. It's rock solid, reliable, portable, a real work horse. Also brings a live element to many sets where CDJS are standard.

    Great video. I’ve also had the Rane One for over a year now. It has been reliable as f*** for so many mobile gigs. Felt great to be able to do turntable maneuvers in a live setting without lugging out technics. The stuff tension on the upfaders is okay. I cannot stand the fx on the rane one. They always let me down when I want them to work. That’s my only real gripe with it. I’ve been using the rev 7 for the last month, def on the fence between the two.

    Had mine since March. Love everything but the software fx. Then on top of that Serato took away their Echo Out effect which worked really well for me with the paddles in a pinch. I dont understand why they did that. Not too big of a deal. As a dj leaning more to the beginner phase, this is really helping me develop my turntablism much better than the pioneer controllers I used in the past. It absolutely sounds great whether im running it through my home system or my big PA for private gigs. The mic inputs were disappointing as they gave me a lot of feedback so I still have to run my mics through an external mixer, again, not too big of a deal but a little disappointing. But overall, this took me from sort of having to force myself to practice some days to being absolutely addicted to playing and learning. I dont know if the moving platters just put me in a trance or if the sound quality simply gets me going but it has definitely kept me excited about my future as a DJ and solidifying my confidence that I will enjoy a Rane 12 setup when I decide to get some. I dont see any reason to ever go full vinyl and needles but I would like to see how some full size platters feel in comparison.

      I was initially the same as you, I was so annoyed there were no native FX, really forced me to look at the internal fx. Are you sure serato took away echo out? It's my go-to effect!

    • @DJTeddyJetts
      @DJTeddyJetts 2 роки тому

      @@jimineedles lol yea I can not find it anymore in my fx options. It threw me off cause that was my go to also. Set to my slot one effect... I had all my fx set to my preference and I stopped checking. Went to do a transition with it and it was set only on reverb. When I realized my echo out wasnt working, I went in and looked at my fx and the echo out option was gone... ive had to do manual echo out ever since. Not a huge deal but it was a bit off putting... perhaps I missed an update. Not really sure. Ill check tomorrow to see. Ive even purchased fx packs and that one totally disappeared without warning.

      The Serato fx come in too loud for me. I wanted something which feel like 1210/1200 and this is the closest (never used Rane 12) and fit the budget. I mix House and Hardcore (since 89), and love them, just wish they were universal (not a big fan of Seroto).
      I had to tighten the Mag4😮 for my style of mixing, but have to say I'm never going back to a cheap crossfader.

    I am definitely sick of problems with needles, fluff, DVS playing bad, gritty noise and all that. I would only have moving platters if I was going digital and it would always be down to the rane or the rev 7. I’m reluctant to go pioneer because I remember how they pushed everyone else into obsolescence in the 90s with aggressive marketing but with terrible phono pre amps. I would love the rane 12 mark 2s but just don’t have the funds. I could afford phase but just don’t know if the tech is there yet. This is a great video.

    • @djkit
      @djkit  2 роки тому

      Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed the video! I think it would be worth going to your local DJ Shop (hopefully djkit) and playing on the options available. Just to say, Phase is a game changer if you already have the turntables, it's so damn clever.

    If Rane built the one how many people wanted it, they wouldn’t sell any of their mixers, so I fully understand why they built the one without onboard fx and without mag4 channel faders. If any wants better, get the 70 and two 12’s, I think the Rane one is perfect for the DJ who just wants to rock a party with music. To many people moaning about nothing, what the hell do you expect for £1300, when the 70/72 cost more, so you’ll just get something simple which is superior in sound to any other controller out there.

    Love the Rane 1, yet why did they make the pitch control down for faster and up for slower? Logically, to Speed UP a song, you should push the Pitch adjustment "UP" for Speeding up and "Down" to slow down the track. IJS.

    • @djkit
      @djkit  2 роки тому +1

      You've got a good point, but that has literally been the pitch control across everything since the first turntable!

    • @djeyez
      @djeyez 2 роки тому

      @@djkit yes this is true, but I have been a turntable DJ and now Rane 1 DJ and I've always wondering that engineering thought process.. It's just an observation. I also don't like the pitch adjustment side by side with the upfaders.. in a dark atmosphere it is an easy mistake waiting to happen.. I wish Rane also kept the spring loaded transform switch like the Rane 52 had. I have not seen it on another mixer, but master that and you are set apart from the rest of the turntablists!

    is there a way the tighten/manual loop on jog wheel? or is that only with the pioneer stuff? do you need to just half the loop till it tightens up with the two buttons.

    that was really arrogant to have the channel faders soldered to the motherboard. Left doesnt do anything anymore and my pitch fader on that side controls volume and speed. I can replace the board (5 million things to take apart to get to it) but i dont know how to solder so i have to replace the entire board. I keep getting told its a midi thing. but Ive deleted the midi folder and reinstalled serato several times. Also im starting to see quite a few videos about broken FX paddles and the knob for crossfader curve being WAY too loose and turning its self left, I to have the latter issue

    • @djsash77oldmanradic
      @djsash77oldmanradic 2 роки тому +1

      @@djkit They don't sound as good as the hardware FX. I have a Rane 70 and historically have always used Pioneer mixes with built in FX and when i try the software FX it sounds vanilla. The hardware FX sound bigger and more organic somehow. I can't explain it. The hardware FX sometimes do unexpected things and you get these happy accidents that sound awesome and you ask yourself "what the hell was that"? Especially with the echo when you turn up the feedback it kinda takes a life upon it's own sometimes and it always sounds good. The software FX i can't even find the feedback for the echo what's up with that? And no 3/4 timing on the software echo? 3/4 is like one of the most popular echo timings people use to make build ups for like the last 20 years. The flanger and phaser sound thin. They sound terrible
