Fatty spent about 2 hours in total with the new motorized DJ controller from RANE. This video is a compilation of over 20 minutes of scratching, sampling, and beat juggling clips... and a few comments we made along the way.

I'm a budding DJ. I just bought the Rane One a Month ago. After using a DDJ SR2 for 2 years. I was dying to have something that at least resembled turntables but would fit in my mobile set up. But also be completely viable for me to book bar gigs. I. Absolutely. Love. It. But there aren't a lot of good turntablist videos out. This is fantastic. I can now practice my scratching with much more confidence. You can't scratch without looking at the screen on a ddj sr2 because there are no rotation indicators. So you have to use wave form if you are essentially a beginner like me. So I was thrilled to finally have that tactile rotation and my scratches immediately improved. And my practice sessions improved. I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to seriously learn to DJ. It aint cheap. But worth every penny and I've already made my money back on it. I get excited everytime I remember that I actually own this thing. I'm practicing so much more and feeling like I am actually progressing now. Gonna start streaming soon. I do kinda wanna enroll in a DJ Class just to get some formal training and confidence. But I am definitely about to play on it for a couple hours after watching this. Gotta seriously work on my crab scratches lol.

Thank you. I want to get one for doing this exact thing. But I was unsure if the thing was big enough to get busy on the juggle. Only footage I could find was some skinny 12 year old killing on it. But I’m a grown as man. So I was unsure. Now I’m sure. He killed it. I’m getting one. Sweeeet.

Very nice video I usually don’t comment Fatty L really drilled it, I agree with him on the size factor I think that’s the biggest issue getting adjusted coming off a full size setup I’m totally sold on controllers much as I enjoy full size setups I wouldn’t be lugging it around just to much for the small difference between the 2 for me Rane 1 is nice time will tell in durability.

Some nice work right there. I’ve been back and forth between turntables and controllers over the years, liking the ‘footprint’ and simplicity of controllers but always miss the tactile feel (and sheer scratchability) of vinyl. I think that this might be what I’ve been looking for.. Shame it’s out of stock for at least 2 months 🙈
I hope you got it. This definitely is the link between vinyl and controllers. I hated "scratching" with controllers before this.
@@vaugenheimnughnrn8723 I did. I would say that it’s doesn’t quite feel as natural as a 12” vinyl turntable but it’s the closest thing I’ve ever used.
@@djoldschool right. Nothing beats the real deal but as far as controllers go this is good. It's cool for litte gigs and to shit around.

That’s a BIG difference in price though dude. £1700/£1800 for the rev7 compared to the £800 for a rane one. How good is this update? Because I had to wade through the fanboy comments just to find someone else that thought the fader sounded off. And he’s a TOP scratch dj…and it sounds off. Which is worrying.

@Cesco Sandollo me too...i´ll be waiting till Serato and PHASE make the HID support official :-)
kind of different applications - Phase is for your existing decks, ONE is a controller. If you gig often at spots with turntables, the Phase is a better option. If you're regularly bringing your gear to gigs, then the ONE weighs the same as a single turntable and is the size of a DDJ 1000. Personally, I wouldn't replace my decks with a ONE, but I would grab one in addition to my turntables.
@@mujovinyl even with the HID support, you don't get some of the perks of the ONE/Twelve setup. It still very much functions like DVS - just without having to plug into the RCA cables. With the ONE and Twelves, you get things like press and hold cues, instantaneous pitch, and auto-sync on instant doubles.
