I am Roman Catholic but I have to say that this wedding was just beautiful! Truly, one can see God's joy, love, and peace present among these devout people. May many blessings come to this couple and to their family and friends for sharing such a wonderful example of the true joy that only God can give!

When I saw this, I thought how happy we could all be, it was just simply a joy, to watch this young couple setting out on their married life together. I am so moved at how the Hasidic community are so close and supporting of each other. As a Gentile I send you my warmest wishes for a wonderful life together. Mazel Tov.

The song is "MiBan Siach", which is about the joy a couple experiences on its wedding day.
In stricter Orthodox circles, the bride's face is covered with a cloth to ensure that her veil is opaque.
The wedding ring is placed on the bride's index finger in order to remind people that the bride is newly-married whenever she points at something. Most women place the wedding ring onto their left ring finger after the wedding is over, though.

@ darklifelight: In traditional Judaism, it's considered immodest for a man and woman to dance together in public. Also, since men and women don't touch each other unless they're married, there has to be separate dancing area for men and women. It actually makes it a lot more fun, since you're more likely to let-loose on the dance floor if you are just with the guys/girls. It's such a fun time.

    OD YISHAMA

    Od yishama be'arei yehudah
    uvechutzot Yerushalaim:
    Kol sason vekol simchah,
    kol chatan vekol kalah.

    IT WILL YET BE HEARD

It will yet be heard in the cities of Judea
    and the parts of Jerusalem:
Sound of joy and sound of gladness,
    voice of groom and bride.

this song is sung over and over during traditional Jewish weddings with great fervor and joy in honor of the chatan and kalah (groom and bride)

@reginaDexant They break the glass at the end of the ceremony, to symbolize that amidst the great joy, we still remember our Temple which was destroyed and that the joyous occasion isn't complete without God's dwelling in the Temple. It's a beautiful tradition!

  • @esther180

@giovannisocal you asked about the songs from minute 3:00
the first one is: "There will yet be heard in the cities of Judah and the outskirts of Jerusalem… the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride." [Jeremiah]
The second one is roughly: May your G-d rejoice over you as a groom rejoices over his bride. [mainly reverses two parts of a verse in Isaiah]
Those tunes and words are very traditional songs at weddings of Jews of European origin.

Within the modern context you could classify such behaviours as segregation. But within the orthodox Jewish context it would be understood as keeping sexual tension out of necessary social occasions and a way of sticking on to one's modesty. Jewish thought in no way condems sexuality but sees that it should be kept within proper boundaries.

    @lizetita1974:
Jews can definitely drink wine and alcohol. In fact, many Jewish ceremonies require wine. As for why they cover the brides face, the most common answer is for modesty. And men and women generally don't dance together for the purpose of modesty as well.
    Hope that answers your questions!
