another cool video ..right @1;46 in the video you point the camera up the tracks..if you walked up the tracks a bit there are i think 2 concrete walls with a date of 1917 or 1927 or something like that ...i believe in that area was old coal operations..you can either walk up the track were you are at ..or park in the dollar store parking lot and walk down the tracks to get to it.from what i remember,,the walls are in pretty good shape..and @ 47;33 you look into the old paul chevy olds dealership..you see that one very light green 53 chevy behind the walk in door?..i worked on that car when it got painted..i wet sanded a buffed and polished that car ..and another good video...i like how you go places most other ppl dont
Great video . I can’t be sure but the stone abutment may have been the reading railroad branch that was high up on a bridge and serviced the mine. The branch went to locustdale and junctioned with the current reading and northern line .
My backyard/childhood stomping grounds.... Ok, so you covered the lower part.. but why didn’t you start from the top of the operation ? It’s a bit more of a walk, but there are still several spots (foundations) of the top of the whole setup yet.
One day i want to retun and find the rest of it...there were 3 addits south of this. But they must be sealed because the pioneer tunnel is part of this.
Hi any info on abandoned railroad that traveled over Route 54 big mine run and woodland heights in Ashland pa !? There’s abutment that is reading railroad and across the street in woods another ruined bridge !
BUT.....there is a waste rock pile and 2 culm banks up the hill from Danny's drive in. Also, no culm banks are arround Tamaqua because they made them into charcoal briquettes. The tour guide said they hauled the culm back up the mounain via inclined plane.
Beautiful video. Amazing memorials
good job love it.
Cool video
Great video, really enjoy your take on the history of the area

Wish there were pictures of this. Thanks for the info!
The first stone building was the first Railroad station in ashland, in later years they built the new one up the tracks. Just so you know.
Thanks for the info. I always encourage viewer input on these places. I want to do a vid(s) on Ashland's history, keep in touch.

Yes that's the Susquehanna branch of the pa rr. Need FRO permit to walk or ride it.

You have to have ( CULM ) a waste bank to have a breaker near by.

@@coalcrackerchris Yes there are many banks in that area, but the old Arial photos does not show a breaker where you were looking.
If you live near ashand we should check this out sometime . Like to know exactly what was there. Love the history of this area!
@@coalcrackerchris Yes I do live in the area perhaps some day.
