Years ago I stopped at a convenience store. and as I walked to my car, a stray puppy ran up to me. When I leaned over to look at her, she jumped up into my arms. My fate was sealed …. I now had a dog!
Right?!
My dad once brought home a tiny tuxedo kitten in his ballcap, covered in fleas so we gave him a dish soap bath and took care of him for a while. We had to bring him to a no kill shelter because of other family members not wanting the kitten. My dad said it held onto his arm and meowed and didn’t want to go and it really broke his heart and to this day 10 yrs later he remembers it :(

Well specifically cats, he is.... Rather was a dog person, they have many dogs but never had a cat
I've been a dog person for most of my life. Then, I moved in with my sister after her husband died. One day, she decided to adopt 2 cats (siblings). I told her, "Fine, but I'm not cleaning up after them." Then, just a few months later, she was hospitalized with Covid. Three weeks in the hospital, and three weeks in rehab. By the time she came home, the cats had ME trained! LOL Now, they sleep with me, let me know when it time for food, etc.
Oh, yeah, BTW, did I mention that I'm allergic to them? I have been all my life. But, sis got them, anyway. Of course, I love the little monsters, and allergy meds are much better than when I was young (I'm almost 65) so, as long as I do my nasal spray and my pills, it's all good!❤🐺🐱
It’s always funny when people say they don’t want a pet and then immediately fall in love with said pet. 😂❤️

He's a keeper. The boyfriend not just the cat. If someone is kind to animals, they will be kind to you (and children).

Not true. The world would be a magical place if we treated each other like we treat our pets. (YES our pets are worthy of it I agree).
And she’s great for accepting her status as third wheel in this relationship so lovingly

If someone can show respect to beings most of the world somehow don't even believe is fully sentiment. Then they will be more likely to show respect towards those that are considered it (humans)
With everything going on I respect animals more than people now.
It always blows my mind how the reluctant human becomes the one the animal bonds with the closest.

There’s actually an explanation. Cats are social in odd ways. They want attention on their terms. So the person who ignores them is far less likely to suddenly grab them and pet them when the cat doesn’t want it. Therefore the cat feels more comfortable around the big thing that acknowledges them and doesn’t try to gravitate towards them.

I am one of those guys. Family got me a German Shepherd. I didn't ask for one, didn't want one, consider selling her.
That was three years ago.
I love stories about a "not a cat person" person falling in love with a kitty! So many people that claim to not like cats have just never spent actual time with a cat or given them a chance.

Or they've never had the experience of being "chosen" by a cat. Even in a house with lots of people, a cat will choose 1 human. That person will be their closest trust relationship. Once you experience this, you will be a Cat Person for life.

I didn't enjoy cats cuz I almost died at birth from cat allergies. Tho while working a job in my early adult life I encountered a large gentleman cat in a client's house. He changed my outlook on cats for life.
My aunt was watching a cat for a neighbor who went on a trip. My uncle said he did NOT like cats. My aunt came home from work, the cat was sleeping on my uncle’s chest.
My guy lasted less then a DAY before he folded, that cat is actually goated

@Rico401Prov I feel bad for you. Cats are so easy to care for compared to dogs. I only know one guy who has terrible reactions to dogs, but cats are ok for him. One time, my adopted mom came over, and she had a very clean toy poodle. A week later, he came over for a visit and sat where mom sat, and he began to break out sneezing, runny nose and puffy, watery eyes. We didn't have any dogs, and he never knew of mom's visit. It was just that one visit.

Happened to me as well, 52 years of being the only dog person in my entire family, 3 weeks after losing my Service dog of 11 years, this half dead Bombay comes up to me on my front porch, I told him your at the wrong house. This is dog lovers. But after hearing his cries and obvious need for help, I did. Got him watered and fed and eventually to the vet. Had his chip read and the family was in Texas. He jumped out of the moving truck as a kitten and they lost him. 2 years after he showed. Previous owner was happy he was alive and signed the chip over to me. 6 years later he's our champ and we saved two Calico kittens as well. Never say never. Bombay's are a very special and kind breed and turned this guy around! There's a small tribute slide show of him in my videos, the first pic was what he looked like day one.
Zen adopted Andres. People don’t adopt cats. Cats adopt people. God gave Zen the soul of a dog. What a blessing!

This makes me tear... Because I had a tomcat just like that, gray beautiful baby that grew so attached to us but one day he was gone forever 3 years ago... I still miss it to this day, he helped me so much getting over an awful accident I went through. 😢

When you buy/adopt them young it’s possible to train them to do whatever you like as long as it’s nice for them. They come first. Also totally fine to train them to not go on tables and kitchen tops. They can go on the sofa, the nice carpet, special rugs, maybe your bed (yes in my case) and many other places including a fenced garden if you have one. Lucky cats 😻
@Sambell3936 it helps when the kitty had no siblings. When they have siblings, they are to busy playing with each other
@@Sambell3936definitely I believe older cats can freeze if you put leash on them as it’s reminiscent of a predator clutch but younger ones usually do t have that same instinct as long as done really slowly. I mean even then some young ones are quite skittish and hate it whilst others thrive outside on a leash so luck of the draw!
@@Sambell3936not always. Cats have their petsonalities and it is sometimes very hard to change their patterns of behaviour.

I had a calico that I named Spot that was like this with me. She will forever be THE ONE in my heart. She loved me so much that she would go swimming in the pool with me. The ONLY cat that I ever had that tolerated bathing in the tub and swimming in the pool. I miss her more than words can describe.

What an absolute cute boy with an amazing personality. I grew up a dog lover & thought cats were cool but it never cross my mind to adopt one. Then after the Army I moved in with one of my best friends & fell in love with his cat instantly. Now I am a Cat Daddy fanatic & adopted two of my own from the shelter.
Cats & dogs are amazing pets that truly are family. They are gifts ti humanity that enrich our lives with endless love, laughs & joy. They make us happier & therefore healthier. They make us better people. At the end of a rough day there is nothing better than a furry pal greeting you to melt all the stress away. That’s priceless. I think most people who don’t have a cat or have never had one don’t realize they need a cat. They are one of this life’s greatest joys. They are gifts…treasures. Like this guy who “didn’t want to take him home” you probably just haven’t realized that you could use a cat or even need it. To me, they are essential to life & living. A house or apartment isn’t truly a home until it has furry paws pattering around it.
Glad this handsome & charming boy captured this guy’s heart. So happy he is safe now & that he has a forever home & loving cat parents. It was meant to be.
Thank you to all the loving pet parents out there & thank you to all those who work with & advocate for our cats & dogs. There are still people out there who don’t even know they need a cat or dog. There is a reason why cats & dogs are internet rock stars - they are absolute gifts to humans that are one of the greatest gifts you could ever hope to bestow on yourself or loved ones.

I got a Blue Tux too. Yeah, they grow on you quick. Thumbs Up! For years I was looking to buy one, but I could never find one for sale. then one day a little Blue Tux just walks up and begs me to pick him up and carry him home. I still remember that triumphant walk back home, holding him next to my heart and kissing his head the whole way. I felt blessed. Now, whenever we're cuddling, I ask him if he remembers when and how we met, and I tell him the whole story, reenacting the kisses on his head.
Oh, and then months later, well, I have a screen door wherre the screen had rusted out nough to leave a good size hole, and apparently I had opened the main door to take a look outside and shut it, and accidently trapped Curious
Franky between the two doors, and he freed himself by wiggling through the hole in the screen, but this left him outside and he hadn't been outside since I had him. About 20 minutes late my Subconscious must have gotten worried and I counted my cats and came up one short. FRANKY! In just my robe and slippers I went out to look for him, yelling, Franky Franky Franky. A thought came to me that if he was gone forever then, well, I had been able to live without him before I had him and so I could live without him again. Well, that only made me yell louder and longer, and eventually I found him. It seems that the Boony Dogs had chased him up the mud and clay cliff that is the boundary between the two levels of this Island, and, wow, almost just after my double hip replacement I climbed up that muddy slippery cliff, took Franky in my arms, and then climbed back down, not being able to use my hands, hoping I wouldn't break both of our necks. But that incident was the 2nd big affirmation of the Love between us. Oh, and Franky had been Meowing Back the whole time I had been calling, but some cats are the Silent Type (the only time I had ever heard him was on the say we met, when he was following behind me trying to get my attention. I turned around thinking it was a bird chirping. Thinking back when Franky was lost, well, there was this chirping coming from the Cliff, and I thought it was only some tropical bird, then I remembered that is what Franky had sounded like, only, he was bigger now and it was louder. FRANKY! I thought, and I ran to climb the cliff. Wow, I love that Cat.

When we hear stories like these i always think the main reason why the human is reluctant to have the animal at first, is not becos they arent a cat/dog person, it is because instinctly they know they WILL be attached to it and they are afraid that they cannot live up to being the parent their hearts want to be. These are the people who are the most responsible parent and will love unconditionally.
I would say these two guys are both keepers 💕

Cats choose their care givers very carefully, and this kitten knew that this guy was going to be his loving servant for as long as he is alive. I hope they all have a very long & happy life together filled with love, companionship, and lots and lots of cuddles.

Was a no pet person my whole life…single and on the road a lot. I had just retired when a feral tortoise cat showed up on my porch that I started to feed. Two years later Buddi lives on my porch in the house I built. The heating pads keep her warm in the winter. I took her to the vet (no easy task getting her in a cage) for shots and a tag. She still won’t come in the house even after I made it cat friendly. She is happy to take walks with me in the neighborhood and stay right by me without a leash. Hopefully one day she will be come a house cat, but my guess she will always be outdoors. It’s what she knows.
