You just can't go wrong with the European classics from their original european country. I would just go for a medium bodied, medium tannin red from europe (light bodied reds can be hit or miss at a low price range/less than 15$ they are usually unbalanced acid bombs ). For whites i would go with an aromatic white with less than 15g/l. Vivino is great for picking wines for wine noobs...because the ratings (espcially for low priced wines) are made by wine noobs. Any wine unfer 15$ with over 100 ratings and an average rating above a 3.9/5 is going to be a crowd pleaser for wine noobs. Tldr; European wine, Medium Bodied Medium Tannin Red Aromatic white. Preferably vivino rating above 3.9 to please wine noobs.
