respect? he doesn't have a clue what taking apart a motor when it's hot does to a motor. furthermore if he is carrying a head gasket with him he knows the heads warped or doesn't know why it keeps over heating or blowing as he put it. warped head or crack in head or block prolly from doing this
@@shortcurcuit5779 While you may be correct, most people would probably have no idea what to do and less likely have the tools on deck, so kudos for that. That being said, it blew my mind how this dude was not only taking apart this smoking engine, but also touching it with his bare hands. Dude’s got the spirit for sure! 😭😂
He looked like he was in a mad rush. The young man decided to break the rules by acting on the hot engine, and he proceeded ahead two steps further after turning off the engine plus opening up the hood. The young man looked rushed and for no apparent reason but crowd control most of them mechanics at the car show. He succeeded at the end, looking at the final ending of this clip with the engine finally cooling. This is a young mind at work folks. "I tell you h'whut" moments.
I always carry tools, I have everything but a air thank and air tools in my z33 ( 350z ) not only for me but other people that are broken down on the side of the road. comes in handy and saves a lot of money than paying for a tow truck
no actually most motherfuckers would do the job properly so this doesn't happen. being that he has probably done this a dozen times he feels like a hot shot being able to rip it apart on the spot. so he can look like mr pro ricer. I can fix my car anywhere because I can fuck it up anywhere lmao....he obviously has done this already cause he knows his work is shit and spur of the moment so he has gaskets with him. hmmmm does he reuse the head bolts lmao.. great job unknowing wannabe show off.....nnnnnnooooootttttttt
No most ppl would pay to get the job done because most ppl don't know what to do. The bolts are fine as long as they don't reach their stretching point which is set a good margin above the torque point, and as far as we kno those aren't factory bolts considering he modified the engine so he may have stronger bolts. I never would have thought ppl who say they are mechanics would knock a guy for fixing his car on the spot because he had what he needed to get the job done honestly what mechanic doesn't have any tools in his car, I have well over 400 tools in my trunk that I'll need to work on my car or to help someone else out. The only thing I wouldn't do is not wait for the engine to cool down.
^^ No, he actually has more issues on his hands now when it could of just been a simple head gasket replace. Definitely will need his valves adjusted for it to run correctly and by seeing how he was just taking off random bolts, I don't think he has the knowledge to adjust his own valves.
Math speed is BS for a good mechanic..we have calculators....Some can do fast math..and cant change a lighbulb, or wash dishes without breaking something..
Call this kid a ricer all you want... But at least he knows how to work on his own damn car, unlike the hotshot in the $200,000 RocketBunny GT-R who doesn't even know how to change a tire...
seethat M yes your right but just because he drives a nice car it doesn’t mean he should know how to fix it maybe they like the look of it or the speed or it. When you buy a home they don’t expect you to know how to build it. That’s like saying I’m a fool because I own a big home but don’t know how to do basic reapers on it or build it. You catch my drift. Yeah I hate wanna be car people too but I don’t hate on people who drive nice cars and don’t know anything about them.
Dream Team I understand your point of view I’m just talking about the people that have nice cars and act like a know it all and hate on every other car because it’s slower ...but others that don’t know it but just wanna have a clean car that’s alright because you can always learn about it ...that is alright if your only trying to learn more but when it’s in a situation you don’t know shit and you act like you know it all and you try to be a know it all but you aren’t that’s what triggers me lol
The legendary field mechanic. The hero that makes cars finish and win really championships or saves vehicles and crews in the battlefield, but nobody talks about...
I got nothing but respect for this man. Most people buy "customized" rides already customized.I told myself along time ago if I ever hit switches on a lowrider it will be built by me from scratch.I'm still watching Scotty Kilmer videos and learning,GOD Bless you all
I like buying quality custom cars at a fraction of what it costs to build. Only broke people rant about what your spewing lol….. Still give this kid props though but I’m not buying anything he’s building 🤷
@@CMONBUDDYSMH "i like taking a cheaper option that requires less work. only broke people take the more expensive option." what does that even mean my dude.
So any tuner should have all spare parts back in the trunk and able to fix head gasket on the spot? lol. Nothing wrong with maintaince on a proper garage. Pay a little more but get more.
+KronosSlots never said that. Apart from the fact that they totally rip you off for easy work, and the fact that most tuners will then try and brag about it even though they've never laid a finger on it.
Yeah, those Honda lawn-mowers are pretty easy to work on, and cheap. Thin metal, cheap parts, and lousy engineering make them a dream for repair shops....since they're in the shop all the time; nothing but profit when they see a Honda roll in (usually on a tow truck).
None of them cause it's a stupid idea to change a head gasket on the spot. The motor is still hot so you can guarantee his head is warped when he removes it, He has a crowd around him so it's pressure on him and easy to break concentration, he didnt mark his Cams so when he puts it back together the timing is off, and why is he even going to a car show with a new head gasket (Let's hope he also brought new internal bolts cause they must be replaced too because they're tty bolts) know his shit is fucked in the first place??. I give him an A for effort but you don't do jobs like that on the street. I know it sucks to be that guy that has to have his car towed out the lot at a meet but he should have taken that L and just have it towed back home
I hope, at least, it got him home. Them torque-yields are a pain in the butt sometimes, but honestly, I'd rather bodge together something that'll work for a while and maybe cause damage to get home rather than have to spend a lot of money for a towwy.
Even if he does all the work himself except for milling the block and head, the price of the milling work plus a replacement head will run him about a grand, conservatively. The tow home would cost about $75 if he is less than an hour away. And judging by the crowd and apparent location I am guessing he is less than ten miles from home. Personally, I would not "bodge" the job in order to look more manly, risking a warped or cracked head or block and minimum of a grand in parts and highly specialized labor (possibly thousands more, or just a replacement vehicle, seeing how that car probably would not merit thousands on a new head) when the car can be safely trailered home for under a hundred bucks. Having big balls is not quite the same as being a complete and utter fool to impress your friends.
Holton 345 u guys for grt when ur young u dont care. U make it work and trade parts. U can get a jdm motor for 2k so y not fix it. This car will b run into the ground im sure
He is a car enthusiast because he can take shit off? If the video was longer, maybe, but so far all that's been proven is that he can remove bolts with a drill.
Mike - ...and if I asked my three year old where to go to change my brakes, he would know where to go. That doesn't mean shit. ANYBODY can take a car apart. Doesn't prove that he knows anything.
Mike ignore him. His argument is that a three year old could change brakes, but let me tell you something. Anyone can take shit off but diagnosis is a talent.
Travis A ok two points 1) some people call anti-freeze/coolant water 2) the only way he would crack the block is if he leaves the plain water in there through the freezing weather. Seeing as how it looks like it's summer time in this video, the risk of cracking the block is slim to none.
Hes a legend cuz he knows how to unbolt a cam cover?are you for real.he then proceeds to unscrew cam carriers whilst his cam belt is still on.this guy is no where near doing a head gasket on spot.not saying it cant be done but first he would run out of day light and second he would have to take head away for pressure testing and possible skimming.find it hard to believe that people who are car nuts actually know fuck all about car that this impressed you.
Blorox Cleach hmmm common sense would tell me that you would never work on a hot engine, cause it increases your risk of stripping out bolt threads. But at least he knows how to take it apart, and I don’t actually know how hot the engine is, and judging by how he isn’t screaming at grabbing the bolts, yeah it’s not that hot, but it could be hot enough to strip out some threads maybe?
How much could he know if he's loosening the head bolts on a hot engine and he drives around with cam cap bolts stripped and missing and he is reassembling an engine with unknown warpage on the head and block?
Most kids his age would be crying and calling mommy and daddy. This kid is the man. Rolled up his sleeves and gotr done. Impressive. Wish more kids learn hands on skills.
no need to hate really.. i drive an STi and have had hondas before.. sure it sucks that his shit blew out, but at least he has the confidence and know how to fix it to get him home. Most the ppl on here woulda had to have mommy call a tow truck to get their car to the mechanic. plus thats one of the nice things about hondas.. everything is right there, easy to get to. it's his car in the end, so dunno why anyone needs to bash the dude.
Nick Brown hahaha you got that right! If I did, it would sure as hell take A LOT longer than a Honda engine bay that's for sure! Honda is simplicity at its finest. I've got a 2000 si that I gave my wife, and I would MUCH rather wrench on that!
MidWestBrick I would of call a tow truck . He does have balls but he is really stupid . He just started ripping things apart not knowing what the actual problem is or putting them in the correct order like the spark plug. but yeah it his car though. just gotta make that point
good for him..most kids his age would be on the cellphone to mommy to borrow a credit card for a tow truck..self sufficient and has the ability to do a quick temp repair to get himself home..of course its not the right way but if it works for a while till he can setup the time and resources to do it right than I call it a win..Hes obviously been watching Roadkill on youtube and its madness is rubbing off
+Buddy I never looked at the date of post..guess ya got me but you and at least someone else know what roadkill is and got the dumb lead ballon of a joke anyway. thats comforting
Yeah people who admit they don't know how to work on something and leave it to a professional instead of ruining it more by trying to fix it are stupid huh? You sound like a fucking retard
Not a Honda fan really. But have to give this guy some credit for just saying "fuck it, I'll do this shit right NOW" lol. And for you haters, keep on just putting gas in your car and not knowing how the combustion engine even works.
***** Yeah, weird! I've only had 1 Honda, 1990 prelude si all wheel steering...now that's weird! Bought it off my neighbor for $300 after she threw the timing belt. Drove it for over a year with 3 bent valves, decent little car and fun to drive.
Sean Phillips FWD is inferior to RWD. I don't like Japanese cars, but if you're going to drive them, at least drive a Supra or Skyline. Not shitty civics. And despite your VTEC, you still can't make any power without blowing up your engine.
Teddy Shinozuka I personally drive German Engineering. I don't hate on any car really,i just give the respect they deserve. Vtec is actually pretty cool in the way it works and can make some good power and be durable if done correctly. I'm a true enthusiast and won't knock anyone's project or preference, although if they start getting tacky with autozone peel and stick stuff I might give them some advice.
Its not hard to know how to take apart a motor and put it back together, and as far as I'm concerned, Doing it on the spot is a good idea as it is cheaper than a tow and doesn't risk doing more damage
Something tells me he's done that several times. And from the looks of it he's probably the only Honda technician that could actually make money doing head gaskets on those pieces of shit
that is not fixing it, it holds some 100 miles and it blows again if done like this guy.. to do that work properly u cant just pull head off and put a new gasket on it.. lol
Depends on why it blew. If your forced induction blew out the gasket because you didn't torque it down hard enough, that's one thing, but if you have a stock motor and blew it doing a burnout you probably warped the head at least a little bit.
they are probably laughing because a head gasket is serious business. you dont just swap it out like a radiator hose. its a machine shop trip at the bare minimum. or if your REALLY hard up for cash, you can do it ghetto style with a big sanding block to clean up the mating surfaces, assuming they didnt warp when you blew the gasket in the first place.
I love all these 14 year old forza motorsport playing fanboys running their mouths when they've never taken a wrench to a car and probably never will lol
He looks like he knows what he is doing, kinda. He should have a torque wrench instead of the crappy impact and should actually let the engine cool down first or his head will warp when he try's to take it off
To all those saying that this kid deserves to be respected because hes fixing his car while everyone else stand around and watches you should pay attention. First off look at the camshaft caps, half of them are only held on by one bolt, while the other is completely missing and there is no need to pull the cams in the first place. When he pulls the valve cover his oil is smoking indicating that it overheated big time, pulling the head while its hot is without a doubt going to cause it to warp and his new gasket is not going to do anything at all.
@@onefastegcoupe not saying that the dude was right to start ripping his head off immediately, cause he's not, should let it cool down and do this at home or in a shop not a parking lot. Easy way to get hurt imo
@@freakymrqyeah my 2jz is like that and so is my s54, you have to remove the cams for proper access to the head bolts. The m3 was pretty easy to get the head off and back on but the sc300 you have to have a thin wall 1/2 deep well socket for those head studs on the 2jz I will never forget that for all the trips it made me take. But a lot of Honda engines you don’t need to pull the cams out of when you take the head off, my friend used to have a boosted d series civic and we pulled the head off and did the head gasket without removing the cam but that also cause they’re was a lot more clearance since it’s only a single cam
I remember watching this back around 2012 and was blown away by this. Nowdays I'm still impressed because now I have Hondas and I may be quick with a d series or f series sohc while its cold but this dude is amazing for being able to do all that while its piping hot.
I'm amazed if he can get the head bolts out. Twice I have had 2 just immediately round off even with a new 6pt socket at the junk yards. Now I carry a set of nut grabber ones as well
***** Dodge Challenger owner here, I bitch about ricers. Not all Hondas I bitch about but specifically the Civic I do - simply because so many boys run around with their civics with their cherry bombs, annoying everyone. I get it, the muffler makes it sound "cool", "better", might "free up some horsepower" even though most engines are designed with the backpressure in mind. But christ, who wants to hear a tiny engine rev? Like listening to a lawnmower.
Tiny engines, thats the price you usually have to pay for lightweight import, I never justify exhaust systems unless there is ATLEAST a bigger intake manifold. You can get some decent mufflers that don't have that ear shattering rattle, but thats not what this is about. It's about these stupid kids who don't know that all cars have potential, if someone out there made a hyundai with 1000+HP there is DEFINITELY no reason you can't do it with a honda engine which has one of the largest aftermarket options available.
***** Did you seriously just say that the Celica was great? xD 2003 Acura RSX owner here and I bitch about ricers because they give real car enthusiasts bad names. It's not about what car you drive or what style you prefer. It's how you act and how much you care for your car. If you care for your car then you wont put on a $100 body kit. A car can't be a ricer, it's the driver. I've seen plenty of Domestic ricers.
Obviously you don't know much about them. I can get a nice turbo kit for $1600. An ecu management for $600, and misc parts around $300. D series honda engines are shit. B series is when they started getting serious. K series is in my opinion their best motor. The k24's are beefy and can handle plenty of boost. K20's are good for high RPMs and can also handle a lot of boost, but have .4 less displacement. I'm not bashing on you either, i love the Focus ST's and I can't wait for the RS to come to America.
But guys....guys cmon.. its still a civic.. You can squeeze out over a thousand horsepower in these little 4 bangers, sure, but.. no matter how much you polish a turd, its still a turd.. What was it, Fast and furious that made boys go mad over the little 4 bangers? If you grab a nice base car, with good looks, a solid build, a good name and then spiff it out with turbos etc, hey, nice. But a civic?
Hey you all ! great video I was just wondering it would of been nice to how gets cam sprockets off with out taken off the timing belt and timing cover can somebody else show us or is just time consuming thanks tk.com
I dont understand these comments. Doing head job a b series integra is cake walk. Not hard at all... But why would you do it in parking lot/ track meet, without checking to see if the block or head warped. With the amount of smoke I saw coming from under the hood, it definitely warped something. That's a half ass job and it'll only happen again. Plus, you've got to replace the head bolts and do a valve job. Again... why would you do that in a parking lot, unless it was your only way home. Granted, I ended up doing the master ase tech grind for several years... But even before that, back in my younger (now ancient) high-school & early college days when i was into the whole tuning/import scene; i remember how my buddies and i used to rebuild heads, do motor swaps, b20 vtec/K series/h series swaps, and full builds in the driveway or by the side of the street near our house parked on jack stands... Ah memories. I feel like back then, because the import scene was still new and developing into what its become today, that a lot more people who were into the scene back then were more accustomed to wrenching on their cars and finding the best new way to make a little extra power. Call it Nostalgia, but back then there was a certain pride that went along w/ learning how to do it yourself and getting in there with your hands and seeing the results of what you built... As opposed to bragging about what you bought like how its become today. Its awesome to see that old school ideal still being kept alive. Regardless, how this kid did the head job, its fantastic to see him wiling to get down and dirty and fix it himself. I always believed that if you wanna have fun with that gas pedal, learn how everything on the end of it works and how to fix it.
R Fox You would be stupid not to resurface the head if the gasket blew... And from the looks of it, it blew due to heat hence the steam/smoke. If it was a compression blow, then probably not.
R Fox Was calling someone a dildo really that necessary though? Obviously you have a strong dislike of them. Maybe cause it's the only way your girlfriend can get off.
Did anyone else notice that every other camshaft cap bolt was broke off? If say that isn't his first rodeo with the head gasket, bad thing is that it prolly keeps blowing because he isn't using new tty head bolts and I'm sure the head has been warped for a long time and he hasn't taken it to a machine shop to be shaved so this will inevitably happen again
@big balls999 either learn from someone who knows better or keep doing the same stupid stuff. It is true stupid is as stupid does. No disrespect in that.
well personaly as a street racer when ni bprder gasket kits i always order a second kit just incase sonthing needs replacing on the spot incase somthing messes up
Esperanza R. What happened to them? Is he not under hood anymore or not doing himself? You cant be so awesome then say something like this but not say where the good ol days went! I hate you so much rn!
Will never understand why people bash honda. I'm a subie guy but I like all cars. It's cars people not politics! stop arguing about which is better and drive what you love
It's awesome that he knows how to do it and that he had the tools to do it on the spot. All that aside, I wouldn't recommend changing a head gasket on a hot engine. Especially if it's an aluminum block and aluminum heads.
I mean it would probably works better when he changes it on hot engine. When engine is hot, the metal gets bigger, so when he put head gasket right now and screw it back together it will be tighter when it'll get cold so it should last longer.
hmong azn son exactly. And they won't even spend a hours looking into how to build and maintain they own stuff. They'll just keep riding maybe look at a few race clips ( bs)but never really get into the research side. But I realized just like one of the other guy say the new school millennium's(some not all) and old school fart were brought up different. They had to fix things on there own(less shops and rights of passage as a man). nowadays some of those parents haven't taught their kids it and those kids have no desire because video games and everything else made it so simple even with UA-cam. People have no desire to retain it because you can look it up at anytime.😔 let the others laugh theirs one in ever bunch( but some are even envious)
If you relieve the tension while the engines hot it's at a higher risk of warping the head. It's a waste of time, energy, and money to replace something if you're not going to do it properly the first time.
this is pretty much every car meet in the world. i remember when i was that age hanging out in parking lots with douche bags. im glad i got a nice mustang now though, one of the cleanest GT's you will ever see. don't go to any of those "car meets" though cus just people talking shit and every single car i saw in the video looked like ass. I have respect for the kid because you can tell he loves his car and doesn't care what other people have to say. also i hate how everyone stand around commenting as if they know what they are talking about and you can clearly tell they are just talking out of their ass.
Jhon KafirB Did they look clean???? Dose he take care of it?? No one who takes care of their motor leave shit like CAM BEARING CAP BOLTS missing... I see atleast two of them non-existent as soon as he pulls the valve cover...
Good for him knowing his car and hobby. That's great that he is young enough to learn and do things himself. That's how you learn and get things done instead of calling your parents for help. Respect.
The threads in the head for the cam cap bolts aren't going to last to long either if he keeps jumping straight to untorquing them without taking tension off the timing belt first...
and most of his parts probably didnt line up exactly when he put it back together. probably warped most of the bolts from the heat. i would've let it cool down first. then again i have a v8 and can make it home on 4 cylinder. just pull the spark plug out of the affected bank.
We don't know if this kid actually finished or towed the car away. Fucker could have had a great video for how to change a head gasket out on the road but instead I wasted my time watching a guy remove some screws.
to be honest he probably blew the head gasket by not doing it correctly to begin with. I see no torque wrench and unless he remembered the tightening sequence thats another issue. And those things are critical to doing a head gasket properly. He gets as far as removing some bolts for the two cam shafts. Which would concern me that he may not know to even time the engine which is another issue. Doing that kind of stuff on the fly is never a good idea because there are just too many things that can go wrong. You wouldn't have wanted to see the rest of the video unless you wanted to know how to do it wrong. And yes there is even a sequence to removing the bolts in which he totally ignored. Also obviously he has replaced the head gasket before. The problem is if it blew again then there is a reason it blew again. Most common not doing it right to begin with. I can guarantee if you asked him how to measure the 9 points to check for flatness on the head he would look at you like you had a 3rd head. You almost always have to machine or lap an aluminum head when changing a head gasket. Lapping is the more precise method so long as it is done on granite or glass that has absolute flatness. I got a pontiac head to 0.0015 flatness all the way across including between the cylinder walls. As a result the gasket out lasted the car. The frame rotted before the gasket did (Northern car).
evilcowboy Dude stop you are making these guys heads pop. All they know is if they see bolts then you loosen them then fuck shit up then tighten them and then say they fully built the motor... lol
Brian Langdon lol very true. Seen a many cracked heads from over tightening. Also just saw a cracked bolt hole from a starter being held on with 1 bolt (95 sentra) after it snapped the starter fell away from the top of the tranny and would not engage the flywheel. You could hear it when the kid tried to start it just grinding away against the teeth on the flywheel. Too bad it was a new flywheel and clutch. Yeah children shouldn't touch big boy toys lmfao.
evilcowboy If it makes you feel better, my neighbour managed to flood her fuel-injected car. She was that stupid. Also, I hope the guy with that shitty Integra has no friends. That shit is gonna be the death of him.
Hey hats off to the guy Just a guess but I'd bet he's probably so comfortable doing it because he blew it the first time and didn't check to see if he'd warped the head... and he's been changing HG's ever since... I'd be most interested in seeing him put it all back together and if he actually torqued the head in sequence, to tq. specs... Something tells me he did not from all the stripped or simply missing valve-train studs/cap bolts.
HowardSupra Amen to that! Removing aluminum parts while hot is akin to opening Pandora's box...It's just asking for trouble. Any internal stresses held prisoner by the fasteners will be given free reign to 'stretch out their muscles'. Put an aluminum piston on a baking sheet and put it in the oven and watch what happens. Out of the confines of cylinder bore, it will distort in directions it was never allowed to before. Probably won't be visible to the naked eye (but sometimes is!) so mic/dial it before, and then after it cools...you won't believe how different your 'after' readings differ from the 'before' readings.
OnlineBackupServices He knows what he is doing? He is removing the camshafts of the vehicle while the head gasket is located between the cylinder head and engine block.
I love it, everyone else was standing around talking their intelligent nonsense and this kid jumps in to do a major engine job before the fresh steam even clears. THat is the no nonsense way to do it.
its a head gasket man!!! - you wait till the engine cools and is one temperature before starting if you want to do it correctly and you have to prep car

I was thinking the same thing. He was able to remove the head bolts with a cordless drill instead of an impact driver. Bolts probably weren't torqued at all.
Right and his timing belt cover is already off, maybe the guy blows his shit up so much that he only uses the bare minimum hardware. Not having all the cam bolts in is kinda crazy though.
nop on my old car gasket blow i repair it just like this kid and sold it fast after that never had problems :D and it was cold and snowing but my engine was so hot i dont know how he is touching it i had gloves fun times love it
I once changed a sump gasket and water pump on a Mk1 Cortina GT engine in the hold of a ferry from Spain to Morocco in total darkness, with only a borrowed AAA keyring-torch to illuminate the proceedings. I admire this guy... sometimes there is NO other option. BRAVO... hope he made it home... He must have a hot date... There is no other reason for working this fast.
yes so he can slide the cams out WITHOUT touching the timing belt tensioner.. touch the timing belt tensioner and risk knocking the bottom end off of top dead center.
He was probably running Nitrous. This is the newer 96 body style Integra. I've owned Hondas my whole life, including the 1990 Integra. With this engine. It was a great engine in my opinion. It produced tons of power if tweaked right. If you treat them right, they treat you right & I tore that thing up. I went through transmissions more than the engine. Never had to do much to the internals of the engine, other than change the timing belt. Do tuneups and oil changes. The only problem with the 5 speed manual trans in these were the differential. It had a spider gear with pin type. That pin would wear out the gear and throw itself out, ripping the trans housing in half while locking up the front wheels. lol. This was later resolved with the Helical Differential. Solid, no space in between gears or open case. No pin to shear and rip the trans appart. After that, I really didn't race it, I used it to work on cars on the road. I pulled a trailer behind the car, loaded with my tools. I had air, a ground lift. Everything I needed to pull the entire drivetrain out if needed. And this Integra pulled that stuff with NO problem. Even on long distances for filling in at a Acura dealer in another city. Not just Hondas. Everything. Now, I work in computers & drones. A lot of electronics. It's a much cleaner environment and not as hard on the body. Working on cars is not an easy job.
Anyone who actually knows what the fuck there doing knows that he's doing it correctly....well the fast way anyways. And about starting with the belt.....you can reach the timing belt tensioner from the side through the cover with out removing anything. 1) Set TDC or mark belt and cam gears. 2) Valve cover 3) Remove cams 4) Disconnect everything from intake manifold. 5) Remove head and intake together. 6) Clean block replace gasket ....2 hours later RIDE.
The rocker arm assembly comes off in one piece no need to touch the valve adjustment screws. However now would be the perfect time to check the clearances.
Johnathan B I wouldn't give him credit for what i saw. It was ballz but definitely not professional grade work. A blown head gasket can quickly lead to other problems, so slapping another gasket there isn't make it all better..
It doesn't solve it fast because he's not going reinstall and time it in the same fashion he took it off. Sure you get to replacing the gasket sooner, but not finishing the job faster.
exhaust cap 2 had one missing and the other was stripped, when he tried to take it out with the drill it just spun. Might be why so many are missing. I wonder how many times that head's been off the car. Either way bad day, probably needed it for work. Sure hope hes got a 4" straight pipe exhaust, everyone knows low displacement NA engines wont start without it...
David Terhune ROFLMAO "Sure hope hes got a 4" straight pipe exhaust, everyone knows low displacement NA engines wont start without it..." that's a good one man... David Terhune also it won't w/o a cold air intake and a cone filter lol.... I gotta say I think those kids are stupid when they paint only some of the interior pieces some off color.. Leave it ALONE ricers, damn lol.. you took a nice low miles Honda and did WHAT?? spray paint?? now how much is the car worth lol.. retards..
This reminds me of weekends with my friend helping him work on his type x. Then usually bbq then beers after. I learned much about the SR20DET one weekend at a time :)
I bet this engine has blown many headgaskets and this kid has repaired it many times, prolly put a big turbo on it with out doing A.R.P head bolts, float the head blow a headgasket evertime u over boost it.
I'm going to guess it's because he never trued the head so his gasket seal was compromised from the get go. I'm hoping this is a get it to the shop fix because you never trust alloy heads to seal once they've been hot.
Why are people saying he changed the head gasket when all he did was remove the cover and some nuts and bolts. Didnt even make it passed the cams, timing belt, head studs...etc. Id say he got as far as the video and got it towed to a shop. And im sure the ricer was probably showing off revving his motor to 7k, before it started smoking.
i have owned and worked on hondas for the last 10 years, it doesn't matter... in a car with 100+k already on the clock, make it run again until you can source a better motor.
Kid new anything about changing a head gasket you usually wanna get the head resurfaced. So if it’s warped out of tolerance he will have it happen again if it’s warped
its good he had the tools necessary to change it on the spot but carrying around a spare head gasket like wtf was he actually expecting it to blow?....well it is a honda so...
Don't talk about hondas like you know what your talking about. EVERY car will blow a gasket. He's smart because he goes to shows to show it off. I do the same damn thing. But I keep a spare vtec in my buddies truck.
He'd be broke if he did it that fast on every car. The slowest mechanics get paid the most. Remember, the gasket is $20, so where's the other $900 coming from? (Greedy mechanics)
Well, over time yeah. But if one mechanic (like most of them at the dealerships), make a 2 hour job a 5 hour job and charge more for it. That's all i was saying.
I am a licensed diesel and class a interproventional mechanic. I have had my masters longer than this kids been alive, And I must say I have the ultimate respect for him. He is tearing that thing down like nothing, no marking no pictures just going at it in a parking lot lol. I wouldn’t even do that unless I was at my shop lol. Extremely extremely impressed would love to see where he is now bet he is a major success love the way he ignores everybody and just gets it done.ps he is doing things exactly in the proper chronological order that I would be doing , He has probably built hundreds of these things kudos
This is honestly one of the most Honda-driver things I’ve ever seen 💀 homeboy did NOT hesitate to start fixing that head gasket. Mad respect tbh
respect? he doesn't have a clue what taking apart a motor when it's hot does to a motor. furthermore if he is carrying a head gasket with him he knows the heads warped or doesn't know why it keeps over heating or blowing as he put it. warped head or crack in head or block prolly from doing this
@@shortcurcuit5779 While you may be correct, most people would probably have no idea what to do and less likely have the tools on deck, so kudos for that. That being said, it blew my mind how this dude was not only taking apart this smoking engine, but also touching it with his bare hands. Dude’s got the spirit for sure! 😭😂
@@shortcurcuit5779 enlighten me. What happens when you take apart a motor when it’s hot
"I tell you h'whut" moments.

not only for me but other people that are broken down on the side of the road. comes in handy and saves a lot of money than paying for a tow truck
no actually most motherfuckers would do the job properly so this doesn't happen. being that he has probably done this a dozen times he feels like a hot shot being able to rip it apart on the spot. so he can look like mr pro ricer.
Definitely will need his valves adjusted for it to run correctly and by seeing how he was just taking off random bolts, I don't think he has the knowledge to adjust his own valves.
bullet5760 no he actually fucked that car up by doing it there on the spot...

Jason Ricci the accuracy of this statement though lol

Add 17 and 19mm and you can take the whole car apart 😂
Yeah, those Honda lawn-mowers are pretty easy to work on, and cheap. Thin metal, cheap parts, and lousy engineering make them a dream for repair shops....since they're in the shop all the time; nothing but profit when they see a Honda roll in (usually on a tow truck).
This guy has dedication. How many of those guys watching him could fix the gasket on the spot?
GeneCARRASCA only the dumb ones will
Even if he does all the work himself except for milling the block and head, the price of the milling work plus a replacement head will run him about a grand, conservatively.

How much could he know if he's loosening the head bolts on a hot engine and he drives around with cam cap bolts stripped and missing and he is reassembling an engine with unknown warpage on the head and block?

Lol just torque it down 10lbs harder it will seal..
they are probably laughing because a head gasket is serious business. you dont just swap it out like a radiator hose. its a machine shop trip at the bare minimum. or if your REALLY hard up for cash, you can do it ghetto style with a big sanding block to clean up the mating surfaces, assuming they didnt warp when you blew the gasket in the first place.

chris fitch and you don't use a torque wrench to break a nut.

Most of the people bitching about it being a honda more than likely don't even own a car in general, or have a drivers license either.

Thats a REAL HotRodder, fix it on the spot no matter when or where. Hats off to ya arbachu not many of us left doing things the old ways.

R Fox You would be stupid not to resurface the head if the gasket blew... And from the looks of it, it blew due to heat hence the steam/smoke. If it was a compression blow, then probably not.
R Fox I hope you know he's just fucking with ya.
R Fox Was calling someone a dildo really that necessary though? Obviously you have a strong dislike of them. Maybe cause it's the only way your girlfriend can get off.
***** Thanx, Brah.
But hes getting home tho
Thought exactly the same
Can of stop leak will fix it fine.
@big balls999 either learn from someone who knows better or keep doing the same stupid stuff. It is true stupid is as stupid does. No disrespect in that.
All he needs is a cup of rice in the radiator and she'll be good as new
How come he drives around with a spare head gasket and all the tools to change it?
It probably happens all the time. Maybe has a second b18 in his trunk as well 😇
+Knobov Sossidge i think he faked it for attention
+Knobov Sossidge because honda
+Killer Imp because warped head
well personaly as a street racer when ni bprder gasket kits i always order a second kit just incase sonthing needs replacing on the spot incase somthing messes up
Why are the "experts" around him even talking shit? He's doing it and clearly knows what he's doing
Reminded me of my dad with his truck always Under the hood doing it himself!Miss the good old days 😟
Esperanza R. What happened to them? Is he not under hood anymore or not doing himself? You cant be so awesome then say something like this but not say where the good ol days went! I hate you so much rn!
Paint Thinnerz Music Group TV He’s probably dead asshole.
legend says he's still in the parking lot changing his head gasket. 😂
i can confirm that i drove past there today and he is still trying to get it right
+Billy Bohanno lol
seen him and gave him a beer xD
Legend says you're stealing comments to this day
Legend says this comment was posted over a year before yours
Will never understand why people bash honda. I'm a subie guy but I like all cars. It's cars people not politics! stop arguing about which is better and drive what you love
Lomo Honda’s to Subaru’s seem to be the natural progression lol, I had an ‘06 RSX-S and now I have a JDM ‘01 twin-turbo Legacy wagon
Exactly I'm a muscle car lover but I respect the import and tuners the ones that know what they are doing or actually want to learn
Lomo I’m a KDM fan and I agree 100%. I don’t hate anything, it’s all about preference.
Lomo thank you I constantly say this
Lomo
Probably because Honda suxks. My brother has one and he's always fixing shit on it and the electric acts up too. Fuck Honda
@@danielkowalski1432 It's supposed to be torqued to spec, not tighter the better. In fact, he probably blown the gasket due to improper assembly.
@@deedle6073 my thoughts exactly.
if he still went home with it I give him mad props cuz most of these car people won't be able to do what he doing
hmong azn son exactly.
I know mine woulda been towed home or to a shop for sure lol
i want the whole vid
this is pretty much every car meet in the world. i remember when i was that age hanging out in parking lots with douche bags. im glad i got a nice mustang now though, one of the cleanest GT's you will ever see. don't go to any of those "car meets" though cus just people talking shit and every single car i saw in the video looked like ass.
I have respect for the kid because you can tell he loves his car and doesn't care what other people have to say.
also i hate how everyone stand around commenting as if they know what they are talking about and you can clearly tell they are just talking out of their ass.
He's got my respect. Any carguy who truly loves his car and what it brings knows what I mean
Based on how shitty that Integra looks I'm going to go out on a limb and say it wasn't put together properly in the first place.
Lol I agree
At least those camshafts looked clean...
Shitty car but the kid takes care of it.
Jhon KafirB
Did they look clean???? Dose he take care of it?? No one who takes care of their motor leave shit like CAM BEARING CAP BOLTS missing... I see atleast two of them non-existent as soon as he pulls the valve cover...
Michael G LOL I just notice the missing bolts...haha
guy probably never even heard of a torque wrench!
Good for him knowing his car and hobby. That's great that he is young enough to learn and do things himself. That's how you learn and get things done instead of calling your parents for help. Respect.
Yea very enthusiastic but probably will blow another without resurfacing the head. End of the day he still gets his car home this way.
yup u know wat ur talking about..thats exactly right i had machine shop experience so i can vouch
X'D
The threads in the head for the cam cap bolts aren't going to last to long either if he keeps jumping straight to untorquing them without taking tension off the timing belt first...
integras are gay
and most of his parts probably didnt line up exactly when he put it back together. probably warped most of the bolts from the heat. i would've let it cool down first. then again i have a v8 and can make it home on 4 cylinder. just pull the spark plug out of the affected bank.
10 years later this is still impressive
We don't know if this kid actually finished or towed the car away. Fucker could have had a great video for how to change a head gasket out on the road but instead I wasted my time watching a guy remove some screws.
It's the easiest shit ever, him changing it isn't even a big deal.
to be honest he probably blew the head gasket by not doing it correctly to begin with.
All they know is if they see bolts then you loosen them then fuck shit up then tighten them and then say they fully built the motor... lol
Brian Langdon
lol very true.
***** Kinda my feeling aye... hahahaha.
D King If the head wasn't warped in the first place it would've been after pulling it hot like he did.
No one is built like this anymore. He defines the “Built not bought” slogan. Legend!
UA-cam algorithm brought me here 12 years later. Just now seeing this in 2022.
Respect to u bro..u know ur beast...not like others outside just talking like the r king of tuners...salute...
love how he just pays no one any mind and just does his shitt.. i respect that so much
Let's all stand and watch...Sheesh...help the guy!
Hell no. That shit is fucking hot. I'd be glad to help but only when it's cold.
But considering its an Integra I think it's a waste of time.
the guy knows what he's doing. How can anyone help?
OnlineBackupServices yeah I guess...other people would probably slow him down...going like a madman..lol
OnlineBackupServices He knows what he is doing? He is removing the camshafts of the vehicle while the head gasket is located between the cylinder head and engine block.
Shane Smith you do know on the b18a1 under the cam shafts would be the head bolts so it would make perfect sense to pull the cams to pull the head lol
It s a weird flex like being able to change all your house light bulbs every week, the real question is why and why not solve the problem instead 😂

I love seeing Honda's blow up, I don't know why but I get a little kick out of it.
where is the rest of this video?
Topher Wayne I'm guessing the camera man got bored when he realized he knew what he was doing
lost in internet space. 🙌
2 months later......
I love how all his cam cap bolts are all hand tight 😂 same probably goes for the head bolts , no wonder the headgasket blew lol
Motor is hot
I was thinking the same thing. He was able to remove the head bolts with a cordless drill instead of an impact driver. Bolts probably weren't torqued at all.
@@HelterSkelter117 you can see he crack them loose with a ratchet before using the drill/impact
@@HelterSkelter117 to be fair though they weren't nearly as tight as they should be but the ease of getting all that off could be be due to heat
no wonder. that thing only had half the bolts to begin with... set up?
I was beginning to see if anyone else noticed the missing cam bolts as well cant be good for anything.
I was scrolling through the whole comment section to find this comment LOL yes he was missing a lot of bolts already
Right and his timing belt cover is already off, maybe the guy blows his shit up so much that he only uses the bare minimum hardware. Not having all the cam bolts in is kinda crazy though.
American Gangster dude took off the valve cover with 2 bolts xD
Christopher C my thoughts exactly this ain't his first or even second time I bet haha
Probably has to do it every other day with out resurfacing the head !
nop on my old car gasket blow i repair it just like this kid and sold it fast after that never had problems :D and it was cold and snowing but my engine was so hot i dont know how he is touching it i had gloves fun times love it
Believe it or not but honda heads are really hard to warp lol
Sheena Boyles you looking like a tasty lil treat
Sheena you should marry me 😍
How can you have problems if you sold the car?
Shocking, a Honda with a blown head gasket
+Retroman Porbably running too much boost from that v-tec, yo
+Drcool52 Not trying to be a dick or anything, but V-tec doesn't produce boost.
red7493 I know...thats the joke.
+Drcool52 nah bro he let his gasket fluid get low then his header bearing went out on his vtec and fuckled the whole project
KSI SubSonic Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
He's gonna pull the camshaft caps before pulling the timing belt?
nitrous07me timing belts already off the camgear
so then he doesnt have to take the timing cover off and adjust/loosen the timing belt. remove cam and gear and belt is loose.
yes so he can slide the cams out WITHOUT touching the timing belt tensioner.. touch the timing belt tensioner and risk knocking the bottom end off of top dead center.
Lol at the master mechanics in the comments
He got that skill but not that money. So for those of you who called him ricer. Get a life
He was probably running Nitrous.
2) Valve cover
3) Remove cams
4) Disconnect everything from intake manifold.
5) Remove head and intake together.
6) Clean block replace gasket ....2 hours later RIDE.
then after you put it together you have to check valve clearances.
You can but clearances are not change when you remove the rocker arm assembly.
Johnathan B Really? usually i always have to change the clearances. I must be doing something wrong....
I do that all the time with my lawnmower as well! When u gotta cut the yard you gotta cut the yard!
Lol that's funny cause Honda makes lawnmowers too lmaoooo
Damon Brown Ohhhhh...THAT'S where Honda's engine sound comes from!
yup, im about to do a k20 vtech swap on my lawnmower, 0 to fully cut lawn in about 11.2 seconds lmaooo
he's taking the cam out to release timing belt quickly to get the head off quick. there are many ways to solve an equation
It doesn't solve it fast because he's not going reinstall and time it in the same fashion he took it off. Sure you get to replacing the gasket sooner, but not finishing the job faster.
Not to mention you have to pull the cams and rockers out in a dohc b series Honda to remove the head bolts
Omniscient Presence lol Hondas have practically zero problems vs most other manufacturers
M Brewton you are full of shit :D
Slerbadin says the person who probably never owned a Honda and is just a hater. Let me guess you drive a wrx (not even an sti) lmao
This is motivation you get when this is your only ride home
Dedication at its finest right here..... *_RESPECT_*
Why you didn't get the full video! We all wanted to see if he made it!!!
Luis Gonzalez im guessing he didnt if the video cut out at him taking the *cams* out, LOLOL
+Mr3X7R3M3 I think the cams would've taken themselves out, given that he didn't release the belt tensioner before unbolting them.
+TheSeriousCat dude you already proved several times that you don't know what you are talking about, you can stop doing that now
"and your opinion was not requiered" "requiered"
you are a fucking nerd, please shut up
***** can it nerd
Exhaust cam cap 2,4 and intake cam cap 6 were missing bolts from the gecko..guaranteed that head was warped.
That's what I'm saying, and the fact he even removed the head while it was still hot probably warped it worse.
agreed absolutely 100% correct.
exhaust cap 2 had one missing and the other was stripped, when he tried to take it out with the drill it just spun.
Leave it ALONE ricers, damn lol.. you took a nice low miles Honda and did WHAT?? spray paint?? now how much is the car worth lol.. retards..
get go not gecko lololol
I think it's funny that this came up on my UA-cam suggestions... In 2023. 😂😂
This reminds me of weekends with my friend helping him work on his type x. Then usually bbq then beers after. I learned much about the SR20DET one weekend at a time :)
Real man would have done it with the engine running.....
Gordon McMillan yes well can’t run with no spark plugs now can ya? Well shit.......
TheWhiteBuster whoa sarcasm alert.....
You would be surprised on how some people think. Wouldn't surprise me anymore.
Oregano lol you mad
Lol
I bet this engine has blown many headgaskets and this kid has repaired it many times, prolly put a big turbo on it with out doing A.R.P head bolts, float the head blow a headgasket evertime u over boost it.
I'm going to guess it's because he never trued the head so his gasket seal was compromised from the get go. I'm hoping this is a get it to the shop fix because you never trust alloy heads to seal once they've been hot.
Removing a hot head will make it warp. He also had a few cam bearing cap bolts missing. Nice.
This engine looks ravaged looking close as u can at it,he has rounded bolts, missing peices, just a modern rat rod nickel and dimer
Mike Goss
Can't take anyone serious who changes a head gasket without a torque wrench. Period
A.D.D at work here don't have patients to do anything rite
Why are people saying he changed the head gasket when all he did was remove the cover and some nuts and bolts. Didnt even make it passed the cams, timing belt, head studs...etc. Id say he got as far as the video and got it towed to a shop. And im sure the ricer was probably showing off revving his motor to 7k, before it started smoking.
Might wanna let the engine cool down first?
i have owned and worked on hondas for the last 10 years, it doesn't matter... in a car with 100+k already on the clock, make it run again until you can source a better motor.
fuckin u dont know wat ur talkin about... go back to oil change videos.
It's gonna warp and it has to be resurface before you change the head gasket 🤣🤣
Anthony no time
he's a Savage heat doesn't bother him he is one with the force. 😐
I ate a whole pack of English muffins while I was on my way to meet my parents for breakfast
Respect
Does the breakfast know you cheated on it with the muffins?
Guy in the background "Damn, do this often"? lol
Fuck up go blow up your shitty Honda
You keep a spare vtec in your buddies truck?
Yes. He doesn't mind to keep it. If he didn't want to help me out since hes more like a brother he would just say no lol
XeTemp lol I thought you were joking at first.
this guy is fast, he will get rich in his own mechanic shop
He'd be broke if he did it that fast on every car. The slowest mechanics get paid the most. Remember, the gasket is $20, so where's the other $900 coming from? (Greedy mechanics)
Tyler Melvin "The slowest mechanics get paid the most"? Are you kidding? Do the job efficiently and you'll make the most money.
Well, over time yeah. But if one mechanic (like most of them at the dealerships), make a 2 hour job a 5 hour job and charge more for it. That's all i was saying.
Tyler Melvin I'd charge you 80$ an hour for a 1.75 hour job and have my guys finish in 30 minutes. Thats how business works.
Tyler Melvin You have no idea how the flat rate system works.
props to this guy honestly thats dope
I am a licensed diesel and class a interproventional mechanic. I have had my masters longer than this kids been alive, And I must say I have the ultimate respect for him. He is tearing that thing down like nothing, no marking no pictures just going at it in a parking lot lol. I wouldn’t even do that unless I was at my shop lol. Extremely extremely impressed would love to see where he is now bet he is a major success love the way he ignores everybody and just gets it done.ps he is doing things exactly in the proper chronological order that I would be doing , He has probably built hundreds of these things kudos
Hardly 😂 look when he pulls the valve cover, half of the cam cap bolts are missing
