    Review videos need to be more like this. He didn't give us his life story, moved pretty fast through the contents and feature while still covering everything. Concise without feeling rushed. When will you compare the nest camera & IQ?

    I had this Yale Nest lock for at least a year. So many times I couldn’t get it to connect to Nest Connect. The last time it just wouldn’t connect, so I’m done with it. I bought the Yale Assure lock. It set up fairly easy although not on the first try, and so far after 2 months it’s not failed me. I especially like it opening the door when I arrive home. I hope to continue having good luck with this lock.

    No toddlers were abandoned in the making of this video. Thanks for watching, everyone! If you have any questions, drop them below and we'll get a good discussion going.
    I realized later that the settings button on the lock can be used by first typing in the master code and press the settings button instead of the checkmark. Not sure why you would do that over using the app and why the voice prompt doesn't help with figuring this out.

      Reed, This Video is Great, I Will show you how This lock works:
      [To enable Privacy Mode: Hold down the White Button for 5 Seconds, Until the Button Blinks Blue and responds *Privacy mode enabled* and the Button blinks Green Twice]
      [To disable Privacy Mode: Hold down the Button for Five Seconds, Until it beeps, Then the lock will respond *Privacy mode is off*
      Note: When One tries to Use the Keypad with Privacy Mode Enabled, The lock will respond a message *Please try again at another time* If you hear this, You may not use the keypad!
      Note: When the Lock's Batteries Are Low, Even when you use the keypad, The Keypad Will show a Red Low Battery Light,
      It will speak a Low Battery Warning, The Warning looks like this: *The battery is very low, Replace the battery soon*
      On the Nest App: It may show a Low Battery Status, If you wait too long, The Batteries will be Dead Completely! Don't worry! You can use the 9V Battery on the Terminals on the Bottom of the Lock!

    Also at first I hated having to hit the check after code unlike the Schlage I had prior but I realized people cannot guess the length of your code this way. With the Schlage all codes had to be the same length and after you enters 4 numbers the lock would error out telling someone your code is 4 digits long.
    I know it is rare for someone to guess the code but still, now they have no idea if it is 4, 6, or 8 numbers long.

    • @SmartHomeSolver
      @SmartHomeSolver  6 років тому +3

      That's true it's more secure not knowing the code length. I would just prefer the check mark to be optional after the correct code is pressed, that way it could still not give away how long the code is. Not a big deal, I'm just being nitpicky.

    I had Geek Squad install my lock after Purchased. I worked fine but when the tech left, is when I began to have problems with the lock. It would not lock at times, and I got warnings that the communication between the lock and the WiFi hub. The two was only 4 ft apart, so that was a mistry. At times it would push the Plunger in all the way without any resistance, but other times it would have difficulty pushing it in all the way. I think that if there is the least bit of alignment with your door….you will have a problem with this Lock!
    Still I would recomend it, it’s a great item when it’s working correctly.

    You may want to consider doing a video on how to get this thing connected to Nest. It took many attempts and a little black magic to finally get it to connect him and asked. I had to reset the master code and now after many many many attempts, it will not connect to Nest. Unless you are an IT guy, or nerd, you may not want to consider this product. Beware of comments like, “this is simple”
