I have a futura crystal dishwasher. It's the best dishwasher I have ever owned. Very high quality and my dishes come out looking like they were hand polished.
I have a question for you. I'm not sure which model you have, but I have a Futura Crystal G6105SCU. It's a couple years old. The one thing I've noticed on this machine is how long the wash cycles are. I mean long. Much longer than the previous Miele I had. It does have a water softener. The other one didn't. Not sure if that has something to do with it. The other machine was also from 2008. Personally, I think the build quality has dropped slightly. It's still better than any of the other brands out there, but it doesn't seem as solid as the last one I had. It's actually just the door. Everything else is the same. The baskets and cutlery tray are definitely improved. If I put it on Pots and Pans, the cycle time is 3:15, sometimes, it's 3:10. If I hit the short button, it drops to 2:05 or 2:10. That time is actually shorter than the Normal cycle if I press the short button which makes no sense. I haven't noticed a difference in performance from short to regular, so I always press short and Pots and Pans. The dishes and glasses come out perfect. Just wondering what your cycle times. It's 2:26 for Normal, 2:20 for China and Crystal, 2:24 for Sani-Wash, 46 for Express. The Express does nothing. Even the Rinse and Hold is 17 minutes long. All the times are much loner than my previous machine. It could have something do with how much power and water the machines are supposed to use today.

I need to comment on this video as I have a Miele G2430sc and have been trying to get it fixed for over 3 weeks as it leaked to the floor below. There are NO techs taking up the service call. I called in to Miele and they said "hey its 10 years old" ...this video kinda irked me hearing that they represent it should last 20 years so worth the extra money. I disagree. Its been a great dishwasher but service or the lack of service ruins Miele for me. Just sayin folks
Sorry to hear that. My city has a miele repair service and have been fantastic to work with. You might try looking for an appliance repair service that specializes in miele appliances. Hope that helps

Yes, the rinse aid helps with drying (more on our blog with associated video blog.designerappliances.com/dishwasher-rinse-aid/ ). The dishwasher salt helps to fight calcium marks in hard water areas. You can use natural alternatives to dishwasher rinse aid such as vinegar. One exception in Miele dishwasher lineup is the Diamond series dishwashers. They have the option not to use rinse aid at all due to their advanced ventilation and drying systems.
Good catch Robbie! If you are talking about what appears at 1:25, it is simply to illustrate the hidden control option for the Dimension. We didn't have an image from Miele so we used the Lumen since its similar. Hope that makes sense!
Our fully integrated Miele dishwasher stopped working and Miele wanted almost 1k to fix it. I expect that the machine should last a lot longer. The reputation and quality for lasting 20 years is obviously false advertising and a bunch of baloney. You can’t get any deals on new machines and only Miele can fix them at absorbent prices. Very unhappy with their product and attitude

Though you don't necessarily have to keep it for 20 years :-) Chances are if you're investing in a higher-end dishwasher, such as Miele (starting at just under $1,000), you want peace of mind knowing it's going to last and that you're getting the best value and quality whether you're in it for the long run or to leave it when you sell your home. Hope that makes sense!
I am now buying my third dishwasher in 20 years. It will be a Miele. I wish my first one had been a Miele, it would have saved me a lot of money. No, I don't think dishwashers have changed much in 40 years and I doubt they will change much in the next 20. They wash the dishes, what more do you want? As far as looks...you can always switch out the front panel or the handle if you want a change. (Even if you do not get the "panel-ready" type, you can still get a new front panel or paint the old one.)
I do because it cost money to buy new products so I wanted to last just like my parents did in the 60s 70s and 80s they bought two dishwashers in that period of time and both of them lasted 20+ years each with us kids and today they are retired and have plenty of money because they weren’t stupid about spending money. My Lumen dishwasher rack is starting to rust. Is there a paintable rubber I can use to protect it?
I bought mine in 1998 and its still going...have the cutlery tray on top and when i open it mid wash .it water stops ..

Of course they do. Extended warranty = additional profit. Just remember ----- what's good for them is not necessarily good for you.

Also remember just because they say it should last 20 years doesn't mean it wont need a couple repairs during that 20 years.
