    I went from Bosch to Kitchenaid during a remodel 8 years ago, and I only switched to match my built-in fridge and other Kitchenaid appliances. I bought their top of the line model, and 8 years later I’ve had too many plastic parts break on the rack glides, including the adjustable height mechanism that I’ve replaced twice, and also the plastic wheels on the bottom rack. I just started reviewing dishwashers again, and I’m planning to go back to Bosch after watching this video. Who cares if the bar handle is not exactly the same as the fridge!

      Roger Bravo thanks for the comment! I’ve wondered if I should have tried the kitchenaid since the top rack feels so much more substantial, however, I trust consumer reports and they LOVE Bosch! No issues over here 👍

      I’ve had two top of the line Kitchen Aides. The first was new in my old home and the current one was installed when I moved. I’ve tried to fix and jerry rig the broken racks for several years. The top rack also cleans horribly despite all the usual trouble shooting. My new Bosch 800 is coming shortly and I cannot wait,,

      Also watch out for the heater element relays on the control board. My 7 year old Kitchenaid nearly caught on fire from it. The Bosch racks sure do feel cheap in comparison, but I know the Kitchenaid ones don’t last... neither do their pumps. Drain pump replaced 3 times in 7 years. I too had countless problems with my Kitchenaid, but electrical smoke got it kicked to the curb... and it’s a COMMON problem that Kitchenaid hasn’t recalled over. Running my first load in 800 series with CrystalDry now. Can’t wait to see how it does.

    This video was very helpful in repairing our dishwasher. Our upper tray sprayer fell off during a cycle. We thought it must somehow connect to the back wall, but it didn't seem to fit securely. At video minute 9:42 there is a picture of the top tray with the sprayer moving out attached securely to the tray. Once we realized the sprayer doesn't connect to the back wall we were able to figure out how it attaches to the upper tray. We fixed it within minutes. Thank you!!!

    Purchased a LG originally due to the suite sale the store was offering. The stove and Fridge are working great but I had problems with the dish washer (all within 2 weeks). The store took the LG back and I purchased a Bosch 800. It will come on Wednesday. I thank you for the tutorial and the information on the products to use. If the manual is as bad as the LG, I am ahead of the game already! Again, thank you.

    I got a Series 4 - Independent (not incorporable, called Series 4,6 8 here in Europe). The best option that I have is the Door Open -natural dry. It adds 20-40 minutes to the washing cycle, depending on program, but at the end it will also auto open the door for @ 10 centimeters. I really really like that option, since everything is dry when i go to check the dishes in the morning. Good video.

    I bought the 300 24inch scoop handle 6 months ago. Super quiet. When I put in a new faucet I inadvertently turned off the dishwasher water supply and ran the machine. My old GE ran a waterless cycle after a water disruption and the heater melted the plastic interior (bulged but still useable). My Bausch simply stopped the operation after 3 minutes. Yes, if you leave the door closed after a load the water won’t evaporate and the dishes remain a bit damp, but the ideal situation is to open the door after a cycle; the machine water is so hot it evaporates very quickly. Personally, I think the $1k price difference between the 300 and the 800 is ridiculous. The cycles are overkill for the price. Love my Bausch.

    • @Dad1987_
      @Dad1987_  4 роки тому

      BRAD that’s interesting. Glad to hear the cycle stopped on the Bosch when the water supply was off. We toy around with drying strategy and find if we crack the door the condensation drying isn’t as effective. Perhaps if you leave it open overnight the water will naturally evaporate. Does it leave the dishes free of water marks?
      Looks like Home Depot is selling the 300 series for $764 and 800 series for $944. $180 difference.

    We just ordered a Bosch 800 series and went back and forth between the 500 and 800. I liked that the 500 had the option to have the door pop open but thought it was odd that the 800 didn’t have that option. I saw people saying the drying was really good on the 800 so decided to take a chance on that model. Time will tell I guess. We are getting rid of our Samsung water wall model after dealing with horrible cleaning the entire time of owning it. Also the only cycle that worked was the 60min cycle. The rest didn’t function. The water inlet valve went bad. I replaced that myself. Then now the water wall pump died. It’s about 4 years old now. I looked up the most reliable brand and found most preferred Bosch so that’s what we went with. I’m tired of super high priced junk that breaks and/or under performs. I’m either going commercial appliances when we buy our new house or going to get an old set and completely refurbish the old school appliances that would run for 20 years.

      Mark g glad you’ve liked your old Bosch! We also bought ours sight unseen. You may already know, but it’s not uncommon for Bosch to give an Error message pertaining to the pump. We got a message on our 3rd or 4th load and realized it was due to the garbage disposal being too full. We now make sure the garbage disposal is empty and have never gotten one since. One other tip- you can modify the rinse aide setting to release more rinse aide. Factory setting is 5/6. The old models had a little dial that you could turn. The new models have a code process in the manual if you want to increase the amount of rinse aide to help with drying. Cheers!

      Gavin L Thanks so much for the I formation! Looks like since I will have two it will be worthwhile to read the manual for once😉
      My other dishwasher currently is a lg. Mid level, but not as quiet as I would like. Last night I ran it after some repairs and with nobody around noticed it was louder than I had thought. I think I will just load up my two old dishwashers to the flea market. 30 minutes probably can sell them for 50 bucks a head. Keep them out of a landfill for a few more years.
      I am more worried about the fact that in one of my install locations I have to make another 1/2 inch of space. Plan now is to knock out the tile under the dishwasher and hope I can squeeze it in there. My wife is a neat freak and she will not be happy with any mess I make. Poor thing🙃

      When you select an option the light above the option should flash red until you hit “start” and then it should stay solid red until you close the door to begin the cycle.
      Speed 60 is really 1h 24mins. Not sure why they don’t call it speed 85?

    Hi Gavin - We purchased our 800 Bosch after moving into our new home May 2019. I have been a die-hard KitchenAid customer for over 25 years having purchased everything from dishwashers to washer and dryer experiencing great performance and rare service calls. Somehow, I was convinced by the sales guy to try the Bosh. A few weeks into the purchase I am frustrated at the loading design layout and drying results. I purposefully, looked for videos that would help convince me why I shouldn't run screaming back to the appliance store to try and exchange the Bosch. Your video was very helpful and pointed out several features we didn't remember having (we had to purchase 5 major appliances at once and couldn't remember every feature). I noticed you didn't exactly lay out the silverware in the top rack according to Bosch specs by placing the tine portion in the open space and the handle inside the slot. I also didn't realize the Finish rinse product comes in different formulas and that you're not supposed to block the overflow vent when filling. All very helpful tips. I'm going to try loading and using another Finish formula. Here's hoping. Thanks for a great video. Marianne in AZ.

    • @Dad1987_
      @Dad1987_  5 років тому +1

      Hi Marianne, I'm glad you found the review helpful. A few other drying tips include putting the top rack at an angle so one side is on the highest setting and the other on the medium setting so the water runs off the dishes due to gravity. There is also a setting per the manual that changes the amount of rinse aid released. The factory setting is level 5 out 6 but can be increased to 6/6. The older machines have a little dial that can be adjusted but the newer machines require a particular sequence of the cycle buttons to get to this setting. Hope this helps!

    I have just installed an 800 benchmark series dishwasher and I also notice moisture on the sides of the dishwasher. But what bothers me the most, is the little tiny pool of water on the little flower like emblem in the far back corner. It does not dry by evaporation, nor does it drain like the rest of the dishwasher ( there does not seem a way for the water to flow down to the drain). I have not used the sanitize option yet, but do you think that will dry up the sides and bottom of the dishwasher including my the flower area. My dishes, by the way, come out clean and dry.

    Very informative and well done review, thanks! So why the 800 series over the 500? And is the movable rack actually useful?

    • @Dad1987_
      @Dad1987_  5 років тому +2

      Hi David, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. We went with the 800 because it is 2 DBA quieter than the 500 (42 v 44) and in some cases the 800 is rated at 39 DBA. You also get an extra wash cycle with the 800 series, ECO Wash. Finally the 500 is the only Bosch that does not have a "Speed 60" (60 minute wash cycle for recently and normally soiled dishes). Instead the 500 has a "Clean 30" wash. I wanted the standard Speed 60 cycle since it is featured on every other Bosch we looked at.
      The upper movable rack is VERY useful. We raise it to fit cutting boards or large serving platters on the bottom rack. Or lower it to fit tall cups in the top rack. Although it is not as smooth as some other brands it has been quite functional. The "Flexible 3 Rack" is also great. We keep the wings down and are able to put spatulas, egg cups, etc on it.

      @@Dad1987_ Hi Gavin and thanks for the useful video. I have a Bosch DW I purchased precisely b/c of the Consumer Reports reviews and info. It does not have the 3rd rack but I did try one of those for a week before returning it and moving on to my Bosch. I returned the 3-rack model (another brand) b/c I found that the third rack (without the "wings" feature was basically useless for anything other than utensils and more importantly--in adding the 3rd rack, it seemed the mfg. had "stolen" the space from the bottom rack of the DW, making it darn near impossible to fit even a "normal" sized dinnerplate on that rack. Another reason I went to the Bosch was, in fact, the adjustable height upper rack system. It is my number 1 favorite feature of the DW and I can honestly say I've never missed the 3rd rack and really did not like it when I had it. My current Bosch has been going strong for many years and I wouldnt change a thing! (Model SHE66C02UC/48)

    We just bought one. works great HOWEVER a horrible chemical tar-like smell was coming from it the first load we ran enough that we all came running out into the kitchen asking what the awful smell was,....thought it was burning up! We've now used it three times, still has the odor but to a lesser degree where we don't smell it in the kitchen but, after we open the door on it when the cycle is done. I just read it is Bitumen. Literally asphalt! It's for the insulation purpose to keep the machine so quiet. Do you smell it in yours? I've read some having no smell, other's slightly and yet several owner's reporting it is noxious all the time. Because of a very stupid contractor, the floor was built up after the dishwasher was installed. We did not discover the issue until the shem78z55n Bosch was delivered and thus returned. I picked that one because I was sold on the Crystal Dry feature. I use a lot of plastic that is never dry in my current one. I was planning on remodeling so that I can get that feature (ADA will fit but does not have that feature), but it sounds like it might not be worth it from your review. How well does it dry without the Crystal Dry....is it much worse?

  • @goldiehanful
    @goldiehanful 2 роки тому

    This dishwasher was great for two years, but I came to find out that the Crystal Dry system has a faulty part that breaks and causes leaks. It is the threaded nut located inside the cabinet near the back of the dishwasher that holds the Zeolite crystal container to the bottom of the unit. It cracks, allowing water to seep into the drying unit underneath. My vent fan is now full of water and the entire drying system will have to be replaced before I can operate the dishwasher again.

    I have a 500 series 44dba Bosch I recently bought. I am very dissatisfied with the noise level of it at certain times. You can hear the water hit the door in a rhythmic pattern about every 2-3 seconds as the spray arm rotates around. It’s almost like listening to a ticking clock. I am assuming it should not be this loud and I have arranged to return it. Just wondering about the noise of the 42 dba machine. This was a good vid... I have some questions tho, as we just installed our 800.
    1. So do you have to use the rinse cycle every time you add something dirty but it’s not full enough to run?
    2. Do you have to use pods? My quick guide shows diagrams for other detergents, I used liquid in the past with my old machine.
    3. I just had glasses come out with filth in the bottom of them, can’t figure out the magic of that one, glasses are placed upside down.
    4. For example, spaghetti plates...sauce all over. Do I have to do a “rinse cycle” if I’m not running the washer?
    Never have I ever imagined a washer being so temperamental or complicated

    • @Dad1987_

    • @Dad1987_
      @Dad1987_  4 роки тому +1

      Sandy Griffith when you hold down the reset button and get a “01” that is code for drain only. It’s useful when you stop mid cycle and want to drain the water or are testing something. What you need to do is power off and on when you have the “01” flash. You have put the machine into a reset mode but need to power off and on to complete. Moving forward you shouldn’t have to do this, just select your cycle.

      MB Solomon Hello, I can’t speak directly to that model; however, I checked the consumer report rating for you and discovered all Blomberg Dishwashers receive a 50 rating which is VERY low. In general the ratings range from 36-88. You should be able to easily find a comparable look at a similar price with a rating of at least 75 or higher. I suggest you buy a 1 month consumer reports online subscription to see the breakdown of each make and model’s reviews. Consumer Reports recently releases their 2020 rankings as follows: Bosch Ascenta ($630 best buy award w 88 score), Bosch 300 ($770 w 85 score), Thermador ($1800 w 84 score), Bosch 100 ($675 w 84 score), Bosch Benchmark ($1700 w 84 score)... There’s a reason 7 out of the top 10 are Bosch or affiliated brands. Best of luck with the decisions. Be sure to buy the extended warranty if you go with Blomberg.

      Tom Lakovic I’m happy with the 800. We spent a bit more for the pocket handle and a few features we found important. If you want bang for buck you should go 300 because you’re getting the Bosch name, reliability, and a majority of the features at a lower price point. Consumer Reports loves the 300 for this reason. There is a 23 pound weight limit on bottom rack! My dishes are stoneware - from Target. I can't even wash a load with 5 dinner plates, 6 salad plates and a light mesh splatter screen without it falling off of the rack. That’s interesting. We put 3-4 very heavy pots/pans along with dinner plates on the bottom and have never had issue. I suspect we have around 30 lbs of dishes at a time on the bottom rack. You may want to start with weighing your dishes to see if it comes close to the 23 lb limit. I’d be surprised if each Target plate weighs around 2lbs. @@chrisparsons3141 overall the drying is great. When the door pops open, everything but the plastic stuff....and items that have a concave/cup like surface facing up....is dry. If it sits for a couple hours before you get a chance to empty it (we usually run it just before bed), even the most of the plastic is dry

    So witch is better BOSCH or KITCHEN AID???

      If you base the decision off of consumer reports, Bosch is the best. Kitchen Aid has features that many people find unnecessary and unreliable.

    Hi! thank you, very helpful video. A question: does the door open automatically at the end of cycle?

      @Dad1987_  4 роки тому +1

      Astghik Tokmajyan hi, the door stays closed until you manually open it. You’ll know when the cycle is done because the light projected on the floor will go off and you’ll hear a series of beeps. Hope this helps! Don’t forget to “like” 👍
