- I get 5 new modifications fitted on my Triumph Speedmaster, so how much did it cost?
I take the Speedmaster to Blade Motorcycles in Swindon to get some repair work done in the garage. I then pick up the bike and fit the 5 new modifications to her. Then go over the exact cost of each modification and how easy it was to fit.
Customising your motorcycle to make it bespoke and your own style is great fun, it makes the motorcycle unique to you and can be an expression of character. Find out what mods I have fitted to my Triumph Speedmaster.

As a devoted lover of Motone accessories for my T120 I have to tell you how disappointed I was in the Motone Monza gas cap that I bought. The gas cap looked good, fit well but smelled constantly of raw fuel as it must have vented into the open air and that combined with a full windshield held the smell in on my rides. So I went back to the Triumph cap with no further issues. I though for sure when you said the last modification it would be a Motone sump guard but no you opted for the up and overs which I have also done..Enjoyed watching your money being spent as I have done that much and worse LOL! Thanks for the enjoyable video.
😂 Cheers Mike glad you enjoyed the video and my bank account slowly shrinking!! It was about time I did a bit of personalisation to "Speedy". That is a shame about the fuel cap, really annoying. I also must say, the Motone products are lovely, however it took them two weeks to finally post me the order as they forgot. Then they sent me some of the wrong products!! A tad annoying but I suppose these things happen.
Yup the sensible decision would have been to get the sump guard!! Just wanted the up and overs more haha. Cheers
Thanks that's the exact cap I was going to purchase you saved me some money!
Oh lovely! Class mods. It's those small attention to detail mods that I find so fascinating. Each bike unique to their owner. Easier to find in a car park full of bikes. Nearly put my key into someone else's car once till I realised there was no dog blanket on the back seat. Owners seem to love putting their identical vehicles next to yours 😂
🙌 Thanks, yup I am really pleased with them. As been a long time coming, but it has made "Speedy" unique to me and as you say, I won't loose her in a bike park haha. Perhaps I should get a dog blanket for the pillion seat 😉 Hope you are doing good. All the best.
Great video! Nice mods. Will definitely fit some of these. Thanks for the info Gus. Ride safe!
Hi Vincent, many thanks really pleased you liked the video 👍 I am really pleased with the mods and can definitely recommend them. Cheers
Nice to see the bike getting some love.
👌 Cheers
I’ve changed my brake reservoir cap for the same Union Jack design but I have the contrast finish. The other thing I changed was the awful mirrors which I changed for Triumphs own teardrop mirrors.
👍 Nice I nearly went for the contrast finish as well, but ended up going for the Brass. I hope it weathers in a bit, so that it blends in better. I really want the tear drop mirrors as well! It is a slippery and expensive slope this modifying game haha Cheers
@@redangrevival A very expensive hobby is this modifying lark. The mirrors I had to change as I simply could not live with the originals. So I bought my tear drops brand new off of eBay and they really are one of the best changes I’ve made...so far!
@@garrypepperman Thanks Garry, I will take a look on the market for some! Cheers
Interesting to see a Speedmaster so different to mine but no means worse!! Very nice mods…
I have the solid brass Monza filler cap from Motone which actually locks in place so can’t be nicked but the lid doesn’t lock shut…
Nice video! Thanks for uploading.
Tally Bally Ho!
Ahoy there!
Many thanks I appreciate it, really glad you like the mods I have done!
Oh it does lock on, that is good news, I may reconsider getting one now 👍
Love your channel by the way, great stuff 😁 We should go for a ride sometime?
Thanks,
All the best
@@redangrevival absolutely!! Would be amazing two Speedmasters! I’m based near Kettering now but happy to travel!
@@CaptainRambunctious 👍Cool, will have have a think. Must be a good place to go for a ride somewhere in between. I am Bath area
@@redangrevival awesome… I have a mate who lives in Cheltenham who I ride with and Caffeine & Machine in the Cotswolds is a good halfway point…
@@CaptainRambunctious Caffeine and machine looks brilliant 👍 Have got covid at the mo!!
Defo keen for a meet there once recovered though. P.S where did you get your brown leather pilots jacket from?
Looking good, can you tell me what ear plugs your useing. Thanks Colin
👌 Thanks Colin I appreciate it. They are just cheap foam ear plugs from Scewfix!! Do the job well and very cheap.
Bike looks great Augus. 👍 I've now got my new Speedmaster Gold Line edition and I am very pleased with it. I picked it up last week.
👌 Thanks Graham, glad you like it. 🥳 Congratulations, what a perfect time to take delivery of your new Speedmaster, just in time for some good weather hopefully!! I hope you really enjoy it, the Gold Lines are just beautiful bikes, love them. Thanks for letting me know and I wish you many happy rides on her (the bike!!)
@@redangrevival Thanks Angus. 👍
I had a problem with the head bearing on my Street Triple 675 R some years back. I was advised to park it in the garage overnight with the handlebars at a different angle. It seemed to do the trick. BTW "Highway pegs" seems to be the usual description of the new custom footrests, as they are an American phenomenon.
👌 Thanks for that tip, I will try that next time that it inevitably happens! Ah I thought that was the case, but didn't want to offend any Brits who may call them something else. Cheers
They are called footpegs ...floorboards or footboards over here. Some call those highway pegs
Way to go Angus.. gotta have it!
What would finish Speedy off nicely.. there's a very nice little clock that is designed to fit on the large nut under the speedometer.. I have one on mine.. just the right positioning too!
Thanks, yup I am really pleased with it. Just makes the bike more unique and special! That sounds like a great add on (the clock). Where did you get it from?
@@redangrevival Hi Angus.. Pro motorcycle clock... just type in clock for triumph speedmaster ... lovely little piece.. choice of black or white!
@@LionTheHeart 👌 perfect thanks. Will take a look now
Looks great Ang.
I ended up removing the windscreen as it's very buffety for my height (1,86m).
Would be interesting to hear how the risers work for you after a while.
Cheers and ride safe.
👍 Many thanks Rodrigo, glad you like it. Yes I can definitely understand that about the windscreen. I do get some buffeting but not too bad, I much prefer it on for longer journeys. I can imagine it being bad at that height!
I will do. Going to get used to the risers and then do an update video about them. Cheers
I'm a latecomer to the channel but loving the content. Lots to catch up on. Bike looks great.
Welcome and thanks really glad you enjoy the channel 👍
Looks great! Enjoy.
👌 Many thanks Robert, yup no major changes but I am loving it so far. Funny how just a few changes can make a big difference!!
These look like great mods I have been added quite a few mods to my Tracer 9 GT they are always fun and look great
Thanks Dean 👍 I am really pleased with them, not too much but enough to make "Speedy" unique. Now that I have started moding I can see it being a slippery slope haha! Cheers
Manual cruse control would be a good next choice.
Excellent review..how much did it cost you to get your bike de catted...?
Very cool man.
At the beginning of the video, you said you had ear plugs in. Is this because you De-catted Speedy and put on thee Vance and Hines mufflers?
Mine is stock and I like how it sounds, but I like how your Speedy sounds too, but its hard to gauge the actual volume/decibels.
👍 Thanks, glad you like it, I am really pleased with the mods.
No not at all, just had the ear plugs in because I was on the motorway (reduce wind noise). I get Tinnitus! The De-Cat and V&H combo is great, definitely not too loud, I wouldn't worry about that. I am actually thinking of taking the baffles out 😂 Cheers
All really cool mods! Curious to see how you like the riser and pegs. I’m waiting for my floorboards, but would like the pegs. I have the engine dresser bars, but I think pegs will work on them too. Love the brass cap too! Speedy is looking great!
👌 Cheers I appreciate it. Glad you like them. I was literally just thinking about the foot boards earlier today!! Let me know how you get on with them 😁 Will plan a review video of the risers and pegs etc... Cheers
@@redangrevival I should get the floorboards in a week or two. I found your email address, so I’ll send you photos of my mods when everything's on. Cheers!
You beat me to it on the highway bars/pegs 😂 Ol' Speedy is looking good Bud. Those trip machine leather wraps only get better with age, I have some on my Interceptor in the Tabaco finish. You are absolutely correct about that Motone catalog, I've got all of the raised fin brass pieces on my speedmaster except for the pieces on the fuel injector sections. The brass shift lever, oil cap and engine bolt pieces are also nice looking.
😂 seems like the only one I have beaten you to!! Thanks I am really pleased with the mods, makes "Speedy" more unique and special to me. Yes I am looking forward to the grips weathering in a bit more. I am on the Motone website again a now haha. A few little extra pieces may find there way onto Speedy. Cheers
@@redangrevival the black paint on her will look good with any of the brass pieces. I've sped up the aging process on mine with some vinegar. It knocks down the shine faster and gives it a more mellowed antiqued look that suits tge cobalt blue of mine.
@@keithstewart1979 👌 Yes that is what I thought, the brass and black go so well together. Thanks the vinegar is a good idea to tone them down a bit. I love the weathered look style.
@@redangrevival it's easy to do, you just have to keep an eye on the progress because each piece will age at a different pace for some reason. I left my brake fluid cover in to long and it has hints of copper to it now.
@@keithstewart1979 Thanks, I think I will let it naturally weather. Knowing me I will over do it haha!
Hi Angus, I am thinking of adding Motone 1” risers to my Speedy. Just wondering how you have found them? Cheers 🍻
Hi Neil, I have found them good so far. Take a few days to get used to, but they are good. Planning a video review of them soon.
I would say it does make the ride more comfortable, however does very slightly make the handling less agile/responsive!
Look good,the brass is 👍👍👍 ,
I am curious as to why that head bearing went out so soon
Must have been a bad apple. Because that shouldn't happen that soon.
🥴 I know! I am not too sure, no explanation from the garage. I have had it on a previous bike before. I don't think it is my riding style!!
Great stuff, Gus.
You've taken you're first step on the slippery brass farkle slope! As you've seen, I have just about all of the Motone ones and a couple I found elsewhere hehe. I love the accent they add and the overall black/silver/gold/brass colour scheme.
The risers I find are good if you're not a tall and long-armed person, and I think we're similar proportioned (except for the extra 10 stone I have on you hehe) so should work for you.
Let me know if you get any leakage of brake fluid from the reservoir cap... I'm noticing a tiny amount... Must investigate... Probably needs a diddle.
👌 Thanks.
Haha I know, it is a slippery slope!! I am already looking on their website again 🥴 Your bike looks great, as you say I also love the gold/black/chrome look. Yup I think the up and overs will be really nice, I am looking forward to getting used to them. Haha surely not that much!!
Thanks I will do, I will keep an eye out for leakage 👍 Cheers
@@redangrevival Just ordered some Trip Machine grip wraps. I used to always use Grip Puppies as I prefer thicker grips than any bikes tend to have, but they are pretty ugly (kinda like foam rubber) and the Speedmaster grips are quite chunky, so I hadn't bothered.
The Trip Machine ones will give a little extra thickness/padding and look good too, so I thought I'd give them a go! Good recommendation, Gus.
@@Disposalist 👍 Great to hear I could offer some good recommendations! I am really pleased with mine so far. I went for the Tobaco brown colour.
Hello, not seen any speedmaster videos for a while. Have you still got the bike? I bought one in 2018 and it’s still going strong. Hope you’re well.
Hi, yes I’ve taken a break for a while! Hope to be back in YT soon. Still have my Speedmaster and love it
Hi like the mods ,,were did you get your jacket ? And how much ,
Hi Terry, thanks glad you like the mods 👍 I got it from a shop in London called Urban Riders. It is a Merlin Chigwell Light.
@@redangrevival ill look them up looks a good jacket ,thanks for your reply,
@@tedge19 No problem. It is a great mesh summer jacket 👍
Superb choice with the mods. Where did you get your motorcycle boots from? Great vid as always, thanks for sharing.
Hi John, many thanks I appreciate it 👍 I am really pleased with the mods. Please see the link to the exact boots: amzn.to/3H4h1mJ
I must say they are my favourite clothing/equipment item. I have basically worn them every day for the last year in all weather conditions and they have been fantastic! Best pair I have ever had. Cheers
I love that bike. Classic British with a bit of American flair.
👌
Hi Great Video !! Really enjoyed watching your passion. So I was wondering if you might be able to help me ?
I am about to purchase a speedmaster maybe 2022 model .. but i just really dont like those beach bars !
I am hoping to put a straighter bar on there ..maybe those like the T120 or the Bober ?
I realise that I will have to bring the bars back a bit to counter not having the wrap around … and I was wondering how much or what size risers you would recommend to achieve that ?
I am 5’10 with normal arm length??
Thanks
Hi, yes you can definitely fit the same flat bars as on the Bobber. Perhaps a 1 or 2 inch up and over bar riser would be a good size. Motone do some good stuff
Do you reckon that 2 inches would be enough?
@ yes I do
Could well be my next bike, like your additions. Thanks 😎
Highly recommend 👌 Cheers
nice looking bike mate
🤙 Thanks mate, appreciate it
Interesting, yes you need to personalize your bike and make it yours....Lettuce know how the risers work for you...
👍 Absolutely, I felt like it is time I opened the wallet and personalised Speedy a bit. Really pleased I did! I will do, will get used to the risers and then do a review on them. Cheers
I have the 2022 Speedmaster but can’t ride it because it’s runs hot and I need the temperature sensor which I’ve been waiting on for over a month now do you know of anyone in the UK that can help because I live in the US and I can’t find one and even though my bike is under warranty the dealership says it’s backordered and can’t tell me when they can get one.$35 part keeping me from riding so if you know of anything please let me know. Thanks
Hi, sorry to hear that, that is incredibly annoying!! What a ridiculous thing for them not to be able to get to you quickly 😤 Sorry I don't know of any one in the UK that will have one, I guess the only place to get the correct one is through Triumph themselves. I have heard a lot of companies are struggling with parts. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good luck and hope you are on the road ASAP
I really liked this clip and all the options are cool. Love the bike too but at six two its a bit small for me I think.
Thanks really glad you enjoyed the video and bike 👍 Yes the Speedmaster does have problems with taller people
Really nice. One thing that's been keeping me from seriously considering a Speedmaster is custom parts availability in the US. I'm looking at Indian, which is better only by a little - If Triumph is a 1 and Harley is a 10, then Indian is probably a 3. All I need is a cruise control (which McCruise might make - gotta look.) The Luggage Rack (I have to mod it - no need for a passenger backrest - need a taller bar for the sissybar bag (or maybe a trunk? gotta think about that). And I have to be sure the suspension can handle my fat American ass, and load suitable for cross-country trips (the last one was 29 states and over 12,000 miles). The Triumph saddle bags are no great deal, but I can replace those. I wonder if I can just get the hold-off bars without the bags?
Hi Vincent, wow brilliant sounds like your last trip was an amazing one!! I would love to tour through the US some day 😁.
Yes after market parts for Triumph's are not as good as for Harley and Indian. I have heard that Viking bags do some good lockable luggage for the Speedmaster (larger capacity as well).
To be honest the rear suspension on the Speedmaster is not the best. However you can get after market Ohlins shock which solves the problem. You can get the luggage bars here: www.motone.co.uk/bonneville-bobber-2016-now-c100/bobber-speedmaster-pannier-luggage-rails-pair-polished-p2187
Good luck with your choice and future tours 👍
@@redangrevival Thanks. I was looking at Viking for the Indian - didn't even think to see if they did Triumph. I tend to carry a lot of crap all the time - It rains a lot where I live, so I always have rain gear & extra gloves, laptop, kindle etc. I need to get into the habit of keeping it all in my day pack which I could easily strap to the back seat/cargo rack. But on long trips having some lockable storage is nice.
@@vincentkeith5259 Yup, I do miss having lockable panniers!! Especially on longer trips. At the moment I do worry a bit when I have to leave the bike and all its luggage for any amount of time! I am considering the Viking bags.
Which highway pegs did you get??
I bought them off of EBay! Not great quality to be honest
La speedmaster è una delle Bonneville che osservo ma ti chiedo: come sta il passeggero durante un viaggio? È comodo oppure serve una sella più adatta?
Grazie
Hi, I would say you need an update on the passenger saddle! The standard is not comfortable for a passenger!
Hi loving your channel, can you tell me what jacket you’re wearing, keep up the good work
Hi, thanks really glad you’re enjoying the channel 👍 Yes it’s a Merlin Chigwell Light, great mesh summer jacket
Hi, thanks really glad you’re enjoying the channel 👍 Yes it’s a Merlin Chigwell Light, great mesh summer jacket
Did you say you got the xpipe??
Yup I got the X-Pipe from “tec bike parts” 👍
Is it much louder with x-pipes? Also, how do you like the up-and-over risers after riding with them?
@@mk_mlt It is not that much louder with X-Pipe to be honest, think it is more the V&H slip ons that make a nice sound. Need to get used to the risers before I can comment properly. But all good so far 👍 Will do a video review of them.
Nice looking bike, I have the same in red, can you let me know the part number for the dresser bars so I can order in Europe and avoid pesky VAT charges for British imports to Europe. Will be fitting the highway pegs too, I was not aware that this configuration existed.
Cheers Zach
@@zacharykeynes457 Cheers Zach, glad you found the video useful 👍

Hey brother my Harley doesn't do that and it's a 2004 dyna wide glide. Should name it wobbly..lol...I'm just joking with you...needed to be said tho...all in good fun...but everyone takes a jab at HD
😂 no worries! Afraid I won't be naming her that haha. It has just worn out the bearings because I have done 11,000 miles in the last 10 months! Could happen to any new bike! No fault of the Speedmasters!!
Would like to see you try that on the Harley with out any problems 🤣 👍 All good, I get it, enjoy your ride man 🤙
@@redangrevival actually, I have that's the reason for the pun....
@@frankmalone8389 Fair enough! That is good to hear, I am sure I will own a Harley one day 👍
Head bearings shouldn’t go on a 3 year old bike. If the cage had a notch in it it was damaged from new??
Yup it was a notch! I bought second hand with 1000 miles on the clock
Was your other bike where this failed also a Triumph?
where what failed?

Wow they ripped you off you can change the indicator yourself takes like a couple minutes and is literally plug and play. The head bearing is an easy fix also
Oh well! There’s always next time!
In my opinion lose the full face helmet. Retro rides rode half shelf helmets.
I agree! Cheers
